Kohaku looked rather embarrassed to hear such compliments from new acquaintances... But at the same time, there was an overwhelming joy at the fact that these people saw her as something. And something great.
Unable to hide her joy as it slipped right out of her face, she wrote 'And I'm sure the both of you do too.' Since nobody really had the exact same outlook.
As their meals were brought out, Kohaku looked at the plate in awe. It had been awhile since she had spaghetti.
"Haha... I dunno about that Kohaku. That depends on what you consider interesting." But it was a nice sentiment for her to say such a thing.
As their food was sat in front of them, Riyo immediately went about digging in. "This isn't bad at all."
Kohaku had been a little hesitant to how she'd go about eating the huge plate of noodles, but eventually decided to just curl it around her fork instead of trying to cut it... Which made her look even more cute if possible.
Riyo had managed to catch a glimpse of her trying to suck up a stray noodle, and couldn't help but squeal on the inside.
"Kohaku, has anybody ever told you you're adorable?" Riyo asked as she paused in her meal, dabbing her mouth with a napkin.
Reluctantly, Kohaku looked over and shook her head, taking her own napkin and wiping off her lips.
"Well, have you ever had a boyfriend?" It was pure curiosity that Riyo asked. She was attractive, fragile looking, and overall innocent. Seemed like the kinda girl guys would go for...
Kohaku seemed to falter at that question. Boyfriend...
A look of sadness overtook the small girl's face, as if the very idea brought back a ghost from the dead.

"Told you this place has good stuff," Blade grinned while digging in. Eating a piece of ravioli, he took a moment to savor it. Good stuff indeed. As he ate, he still listened to Riyo (and Kohaku technically even if it wasn't 'listening' in her case). He didn't see her writing anything in the corner of his eyes anyway.
The thief had to agree with the feline there. Kohaku was pretty cute. It was too bad she didn't really have any friends..
At the question on having a boyfriend, he paused and looked at that sadness that was on the girl's face now. There were a few reasons why this could have been. Perhaps something happened with a previous boyfriend of hers or maybe she longed for one and... never had someone. Somehow, he had a feeling it was more of the former.
Frowning some, he glanced at Riyo briefly while trying to think of what to say.
"You.. don't have to answer that if you don't want to," he offered the mute girl.

Frowning at the realization she had accidentally pushed one of Kohaku's buttons, Riyo nodded in agreement with Blade. "Yeah, you don't have to talk about it... I understand not wanting to talk about painful things..." It hadn't really occurred to her that other people could have mental buttons as sensitive as hers.
Looking up between the two of them, Kohaku smiled sadly, uncovering her little notepad. 'I apologize... There are just things I can't bring myself to think about yet.' Which... Meant Blade was probably right. What the hell could've happened to her? And at such a young age...

That struck Blade's curiosity pretty hard. Kohaku was younger than Riyo and himself, which really had him wondering what on earth could have happened to make her react that way to the subject matter. It must have been pretty serious...
And for that reason, he was just going to swallow that curiosity and not press the issue. It really wasn't his business.
"That's fine. Everyone has those sort of things..." he said quietly.

Kohaku gave a small nod to Blade's assurance on the subject, but went back to picking at her place for a few moments. While the thought had made her sad, she knew she shouldn't dwell on it.
Setting down the fork once again, Kohaku quickly scribbled out a 'What about you two?'
"Oh, uh." Riyo had actually never been asked that. With the shoe on the opposite foot, she suddenly realized how awkward it could be. "Yeah. I'm in a relationship."
The fragile mute seemed to become interested in that, and was apparently waiting for Riyo to elaborate.
"... With a guy?" She wasn't sure what the girl was waiting for, but Kohaku continued to stare, her head tilting slightly to the left.
"... He's kinda dim sometimes, but he means well." ... To her, at least.
It didn't seem like Kohaku had got what she wanted from Riyo, so she instead turned to Blade and awaited his answer.

Taking a few more bites of his ravioli, Blade had to keep himself from snickering at Riyo's little description of Klyde. He soon realized he was being looked at. Glancing up, he blinked at Kohaku for a moment before slowly shaking his head.
"...Never been in one before," he mumbled quietly. It was awkward to admit it, but lying about it would be even more pathetic on his part. Then again, if he never really had any friends before, he wouldn't have had any girlfriends either.
Hell, he was still a virgin.

Kohaku appeared a little surprised when Blade announced that he had never had a relationship before. He wasn't a bad looking guy, and he appeared to have a good nature...
'There's nothing wrong with that.' The girl wrote down and underlined it, following it up with 'You're young. There's plenty of time to find somebody.'
That was what she told herself sometimes. Secretly, Kohaku was a hopeless romantic. She loved reading sappy romance novels about women being swept off their feet by prince charming... Or the opposite of. Really, it didn't matter. Too bad her own relationship never worked out with the ending 'And they lived happily ever after.'
Honestly, it had been more like... 'And HE lived happily ever after.'

Looking at the slip of paper, Blade chuckles lightly and nodded.
"Yeah I guess," he replied quietly, "But I guess it doesn't really matter if I do or don't."
Romance wasn't really something he was seeking out, personally. He had a hard enough time growing up without friends to worry about getting a girl. Though, valentines days were always a little rough for him even with that in mind.

Kohaku appeared confused when Blade said it didn't really matter. Why wouldn't it?
"Yeah... Relationships don't make happiness. It's not like people need to be in one." Riyo mumbled as she polished off her plate. She probably wouldn't have been in one had Klyde not pursued it. Though, she didn't really take into account how much it meant to her now, and how sad she'd end up being to lose it.
'... Doesn't your relationship mean a lot to you?' Kohaku ended up writing to Riyo, covering what she'd neglected to think about.
Riyo paused as she stared at the question on the paper.
"Well... I..." She tried to start, unsure of where she was going with that at first.
The more she thought about it... The more the answer was obvious... The more it scared her. She'd gotten very comfortable with Klyde, hadn't she? And every time she asked him for affirmation that they'd be together indefinitely, he never told her what she wanted to hear. Which, to be fair, was realistic...
"I... I guess so." She responded reluctantly, glancing away from the table.
Kohaku tilted her head as she appeared to make Riyo uncomfortable. She really hadn't meant to... But the two of them appeared to have very different views.
"It's okay Kohaku. I'm not upset." Riyo assured the girl, but didn't look back. It looked like she was staring at the window.
... She also appeared to have ESP or something.
Turning back to Blade, Kohaku flipped another page on her notepad.
'Why doesn't it really matter?' She asked through ink, hoping Blade wouldn't mind all the questioning.

The air seemed to grow a little awkward as Riyo and Kohaku exchanged a few words on the matter. There seemed to be some conflicting views there and from the looks of things, it made Riyo sort of question her statement. For a moment or so, he watched her before seeing a message directed towards himself.
"Well.. I'm fine the way I am for the most part. I've been able to get by," he explained, "It might be kind of nice, but... I don't think it's something that's really necessary."
That was about the best he could put it for now.

While Kohaku didn't particularly understand their views, she did her best to respect their right to have them and not press the matter. Nodding at Blade's answer, Kohaku took a few more bites of her pasta before dabbing her mouth with a napkin and setting it next to the plate with a content look.
Finally looking back at her dinner party, Riyo noticed that everybody appeared to be done. "Shall we call for the check?" It appeared that she was out of her funk for now, but most likely her thoughts would return to the matter when she wasn't in the same company.

Finishing up his food, Blade nodded to Riyo, "Yeah that sounds good to me."
Grinning lightly, he noticed she appeared to be in a better state of mind for the time being. He went on ahead to flag down the waitress, who soon came by and placed the bill on the table. Taking a peek at the amount, the thief reached for his wallet to pay half of it as planned.
When that was all taken care of, he went on outside with the others, feeling pretty content with the meal.
"Whew I'm full," he said to himself.
Around then, a young man came on about, taking note of the group that had exited the restaurant. The youngest one in the group seemed to have caught his eye.
"Well now, aren't you a cute one?" the guy said to Kohaku.

Well, Riyo was gonna try to cover the meal, but Blade had grabbed the damn thing before she could snatch it away from him. Maybe she could shove a couple of bucks into his pocket while he wasn't looking...
"Me too." Riyo agreed, following Blade out and looking back to Kohaku who gave a content nod.
Though, when the boy practically labeled 'trouble' came marching up, the smile that had been taking residence on Riyo's face was evicted.
Kohaku, however, seemed to think he was talking to somebody else at first. Glancing to both of her sides cluelessly, the realization that this young man could very well be saying that to her kicked in, causing the girl to point at herself and her cheeks to turn a soft pink.

Hearing the unfamiliar voice speak up, Blade furrowed his brow at the guy that had approached them. This couldn't end too well, but hopefully the guy would be taking his leave pretty soon.
"Aww she blushes," the guy said with a grin, "You really are a cute one. Oh.. I'm sorry, is this your boyfriend?"
"Wh-what?" stammered Blade, not expecting that, "No? But why don't you go away anyway?"
"And why should I do that? If you aren't her boy friend, then bug off kid," the dude said, "Let the little lady speak up for herself."

Obviously that wouldn't be happening.
Kohaku's blush only increased in intensity as the confrontation continued, not used to being complimented like that... Or looked at like that.
Riyo couldn't help but c**k an eyebrow at this guy who'd appeared out of thin air just to harass their new friend. Well, way to go Blade. Way to make the ******** disappear.
"Sorry, she doesn't talk to overconfident bastards." Riyo pointed out, moving to the girl instinctively. "How 'bout you come back when your balls drop?"
Kohaku's eyes shot towards Riyo, her excuse for the mute's silence making her feel a little guilty. Glancing down at the ground, she thought about trying to tell him... But he'd probably just be appalled anyways. On the rare occasion a man talked to her, they were generally put off by her inability to converse vocally. So... She supposed it was for the best.
