An excited "vui!" erupted from the little wet fluffball as Aulus set her back in the water, so she chewed on his thumb affectionately while splashing around.

A small smile twitched at the corners of Claire's lips as she watched the scarred man pick up the adorable little 'vee, and she couldn't help but remember how his expression softened while watching other pokemon. It was also hard to forget how he'd squealed like a little girl when tickled, and that thought was still firmly in mind when the Absol decided to toss the keys - locker keys? They looked like it - into the deep end of the pool. It was incredibly hard not to laugh or even chuckle about it. "I don't think she liked what you said. Or maybe she's jealous you're holding Blue." Either one could possibly be the cause. She knew very well that having a single pokemon for years could cause said pokemon to be possessive. Odette had been possessive at first - she still sort of was, actually - but she was much better now. Thankfully.

The eevee's nibbling didn't hurt that much (he hardly had soft delicate skin, especially after all the cleaning he'd been doing lately), and so he made no move to stop her. Instead, he focused his attention on Tortie. "Jealousy, is it?" he asked. "Or just injured pride? Either way I'm not impressed; either fetch those keys back or you're spending the rest of the day in your pokeball." He loved the snappy b***h, he did, but that didn't mean he could let her get away with disobedience; now more than ever he needed to be able to rely on her to do as she was told no matter the circumstances. "Fetch it now, Tortie." Damn, why did he have to feel bad about this? Maybe he had been a little rude about her, and hadn't been paying enough attention to her... No, he was sticking to his guns and that was that.

Down at the other end of the pool, Tortie hunched over and glowered at her trainer, mane puffing up in annoyance. Why did he always get to decide what they did? Why should she obey him? Because he had power over her? Hu, well if he thought his threats bothered her he could think again. "Solllll," she grumbled;

You catch more flies with honey than vinegar. He remembered his father had always said that to him when he got snappy. Sighing slightly, Aulus changed tack. "Alright, I apologise, but I still want you to fetch that key for me, and I will still shut you in your pokeball if you don't. We're a team, Tortie, but I'm the leader; you've always accepted that before so please stop throwing a hissy fit, I'll pay attention to you later."

Tortie narrowed her eyes further, but her mane began to smooth down, So saying, she jumped into the water and swam down to grab the key. Once she had it in her mouth she made for the surface, and paddled towards the side where she hauled herself out. With her coat slicked against her slight frame, she padded back down the length of the pool and sat back down more or less where she'd been before, dropping the keys onto the tiles by her paws. she grumbled,

Although his hands remained occupied with Blue, Aulus directed a smile at his own pokemon. "Good girl Tortie," he nodded, "and I'll be sure to clean the chlorine out of your coat in the showers, or you'll get all itchy." The last thing he needed was a cranky, itchy Absol to deal with all day.

The Eevee's nibbling wasn't meant to hurt, simply to nom his hand to show just how pleased she was that he'd pulled her back into the water. Chewing was her way of showing affection. And exploring. And showing displeasure. And tasting, and... Well, it was her way of showing any and every emotion or attitude. Either way, the chewing became more absent as she concentrated more on wiggling and squirming and splashing in the water, making adorable "vffrrrrvvrrrrr!" noises.

Hazel eyes flicked between trainer and pokemon, observing the confrontation curiously. It was interesting, of course - a reminder that pokemon did have minds of their own, as well as feelings and opinions, or some of them at least, and those needed to be addressed to keep them under control. Thankfully Aulus knew how to soothe the Absol, and a slight smile twitched at her lips as she saw the dark-type jump into the water for a few brief moments. "Darn," she commented, leaning her shoulders against the edge of the pool, "and here I was hoping to see you get those keys." She wanted to see what that spiky hair looked like when it got wet. Maybe it deflated and looked like limp spikes?

"Oh?" Aulus raised an eyebrow. "Why's that then, just to see me inconvenienced? Or were you hoping I'd get out and do a perfect dive in off the board? Fat chance." He wasn't especially good at diving, no better than any fit amateur, so there was a fair chance he'd make more of a pathetic splash than a smooth scything into the water, and there was no way he was going to risk showing himself up like that. Plus, of course, he kind of like it where he was; hot woman and adorable pokemon, what more could anyone ever want?... Of course the hot woman was something he couldn't actually do anything about, but hey, at least he could look... When she wasn't hiding up to her neck in the water anyways.

"So are you going to evolve her?" Aulus asked after a moment, looking back down at Blue. "She'd make a pretty funny Flareon." Eevee were adorable, he liked them very much, but if one came into his possession he'd probably evolve it eventually all the same if he was ever planning on using it to battle with. If it was just going to be a companion of course that was another matter, but he couldn't see there being much room for 'pet' pokemon in Team Rocket.

"No," she said evenly, shrugging her shoulders away from the wall before turning and floating in the water, resting her knees on the tiles beneath her and fixing him with a mildly devious little smirk, "I wanted to see what your hair looks like when it's wet." He hadn't gone under water yet, and she really, really wanted to see if it looked hilarious or if it had so much gel and crap that it didn't make any difference. She hoped it was the former, especially because he didn't seem like the type to use a lot of hair products. If he did, she would be slightly concerned.

...not that she wasn't concerned now, of course. She was nervous still, obviously, and needed him out of the pool as soon as possible. Even if he was nice company (usually), and even if he did have a handsome face when he wasn't glaring death-beams at everyone...

Now where did that thought come from?

"No, no," she said, the thought of Blue as a Flareon and destroying everything making her shake her head quickly, "she's way too destructive as it is now. I can barely handle her as a little fluffy menace, I don't exactly want a fully evolved menace that's three times her current size and weight. ...plus she likes the water too much, evolving her into a Flareon would be sort of cruel." Poor thing would be so upset that she couldn't go swimming anymore.

"Ha. Well, that's fair enough," Aulus snorted, "guess the last thing she needs is a bigger set of jaws... And fine. I'll humour you; 'scuse me a minute Blue." Carefully placing the eevee back on the side of the pool, the red-eyed man ducked under the water's surface. He sank like a rock, naturally, and spent few few seconds sitting in a full-lotus on the bottom of the pool, blowing bubbles out through his nose. Once he felt in need of more oxygen he got back to his feet, and broke the surface taking in a deep lungful of air.

Claire had indeed been right; his usual 'haistyle' was the result of just scrubbing his hair dry with a towel after he showered, and a good deal of running his fingers through it in exasperation at whatever annoyances the day brought. Given that it was advanced scrubbing with towels and prolonged frustration that kept it sticking up rather than gooey or sticky product of one kind or another, the brief dunking in the water slicked the fine dark brown strands flat against his skull.

"There," Aulus gave a lopsided grin, dashing water from his face and blinking it out of his eyelashes, "I look like a drowned rattata, hope you're suitably amused."

Blue frowned when her chewtoy put her down and went under the water, and she paced back and forth along the edge of the tiles, waiting for him to pop back up. Except he was taking much, much too long. Her ears twitched a bit before she gave up waiting, and bounded over a few feet to where Claire was. She tried to stop but slipped across the tiles instead, coming to a halt on her belly. "Vwrr?" What happened?

Claire watched Blue out of the corner of her eye, a small smile forming on her face before hazel eyes focused on the dark, rippley figure under the water before Aulus broke the surface again. Just one look at his hair caused her to chuckle, and she raised a hand to cover her mouth. "I'm definitely suitably amused," she chuckled, "thank y--hey!"

Blue had, while Claire hadn't been watching (you'd think she'd learn never to take her eyes off the little menace, but nooo), gotten up and, butt wiggling, sprang from the edge of the pool and onto Claire's arm. The sopping wet 'vee quickly slipped off and half-paddled, half-clambered across to the front of her owner, and used her bathing suit to climb up onto the woman's shoulder. It was a good thing she was wearing it, otherwise Blue might not have been able to get back up! She'd succeeded in pushing down the middle - luckily the bow there was for decoration only - before pushing over one side of her top. Luckily for Claire nothing was shown, but at this point she didn't want Aulus seeing anymore than he already had. In an instant she held the little blue trouble-maker in one hand and swiftly adjusted the top of her bikini, the blush creeping back into her cheeks as she did so. Arceus, she just wanted to go hide in a closet..

Alright; go Blue!... Oh. Damn. Claire had fixed her top again. Always so near and yet so far. No fair. Maybe next time. Yea. She should put blue down and let the soggy little fuzzball try again. Mmh... Ack! Stop staring! Clearing his throat, Aulus forced his gaze back up to Claire's face for what seemed like the umpteenth time. "And that's what you get for laughing at me," he said, trying for a grin that didn't look too pleased by the situation, "eevee nearly pulling your top off. You know, you should probably either restrain her somehow or get more secure swimwear." Well, it was true, and his suggesting it suggested that he would care if she got a less revealing, less tuggable top piece.

Thankfully for Aulus, Claire remained oblivious to his staring because she was too busy dealing with a certain little blue menace. A slight sigh escaped the young woman as she smoothed a hand over the wet fur on top of Blue's head, giving the little 'vee a rueful look before focusing her attention on Aulus again. Not before making sure the little devil wouldn't be able to do anything to her top again, of course. "I guess so," she chuckled lightly, "and, well I can't really do much about either option for the moment," though she had a hunch that Blue would chew through any sort of restraint that wasn't a hand or arm or something, "so I'll just have to hold her for now, I guess."

"Yea, I guess all you can do is... s**t." In his attempts to look at something other than Claire, Aulus had just looked up at the large clock on one wall. "Well that's what I get for standing around chatting," he muttered, his quintessential scowl returning abruptly. "I was going to swim some fast lengths, get some proper exercise in before I start my day of drudgery. If I don't want to be late I need to go about five minutes ago, considering I now need to wash Tortie's fur. Damn. Should just have fetched the key myself after all." Just great, he'd really been looking forward to a vigorous swim. He supposed talking to Claire had been kind of fun, but he just knew that he'd be going stir crazy by the end of the day now. Used as his body was used to being exercised a great deal, suddenly switching out long periods of karate, swimming, and other fun things for cleaning played hell with it, and therefore with his mood.

On the side of the pool Tortie chuckled deep in her chest, having gathered that because he needed to look after her he didn't get to have his swim. she taunted.

Yeah, all... what? Claire blinked a few times, slightly confused, but a smile twitched onto her face again. Finally, finally he would leave. Finally. Arceus, she was getting cold and starting to prune a bit... but she'd only need to wait a little longer and she could get out and shower and wash the pool water out of Blue's fur, and she could get ready for her shift. "That sucks. I suppose you'll need to run to get there on time," though she honestly couldn't imagine him running to get anywhere on time and not just because of his leg.
PostPosted: Wed Mar 23, 2011 10:09 am

"Run?" Aulus snorted. "Na, I'm not that late; if I go right now I can just hurry with getting showered and changed, and still arrive to receive my precious mop with some dignity. Anyway," he hauled himself out of the water with a sigh, grabbing his locker key as the stood up, "see you around the place; have a good day... Or whatever." Had he just wished her a good day? Damn, he was losing his edge; one minute you were wishing somebody a good day, next you knew you actually cared about them, and or what they thought of you. She was pretty, nothing more than that. "So... See you then." Giving Claire a last nod, the red-eyed man turned away hastily, making for the changing rooms, Tortie following close behind him. Why had he had to go and say that?

"Well that's good," she commented, nodding slightly. Being that late was never good, especially in such an organization as this. But whatever, at least he'd be fine. His behavior in Team Rocket directly reflected on her, since she was the one to recruit him, so she was mildly concerned over how well he'd fare in the crime syndicate. Her brow furrowed at his sort of awkward good-bye, so she nodded and offered a half-wave, still holding Blue in one hand. "See you later, then." Sometime? Probably. Whatever.

The instant he disappeared through the door she put Blue on the tiles - and the little 'vee looked very disappointed to be out of the water - and quickly hoisted herself out of the pool. She jogged over to the bench and picked up the pokeballs, recalling Zeus and Odette before shoving all the pokeballs into the drawstring bag that rested on the wood. That done, she picked up her towel and wrapped it around her securely, then slung the bag over her shoulder, picked up Blue, and disappeared into the women's locker room to shower.

As the door to the changing room closed behind him Aulus paused and turned to look back out through the window, wondering if Claire might get out to do a dive or something interesting like that. As it turned out she was leaving the pool, but not head to the deep end; she was jogging over to get her bag (a most enjoyable view) and then off to the women's changing rooms. That was kind of odd, she hadn't said anything about being in a rush herself. Was she heading off to some secret duty that he, a mere trainee, wasn't allowed to know about, or had she been waiting for him to leave? Either way was interesting, but the latter was confusing too. Was she really that shy?

Mmfh, well, he didn't exactly have time to think too much about it right now. Shrugging his broad shoulders Aulus turned away from the now empty pool and headed for the showers; last thing he needed to do was show up late for duty.
