Cricket's "assurances" that the boat was perfectly sea worth and not in danger of crumbling under their weight was met with a somewhat skeptical narrowing of dark eyes but he wisely didn't comment. For all he was aware she knew something he didn't about the vessel. There was also the fact that she was a teacher, and a ghost, and he didn't want to make it a hbbit of questioning them.

So he said nothing and turned his attention to watch a few new students boarding, including another boil the ghoul's had mentioned for him to look for. Calder, pale boil with white hair and hooves, had to be him, right? But why was he wondering off on his own?

It would have to wait. Someone new was yelling to Jove, and the jikininki automatically looked in the direction the voice was coming from. He didn't know the girl, not even by description from Junko, so when the pup darted off to meet her he watched on curiously. As she was escorted back to the group he offered her a smile, holding his human hand out once again for a shake. "Hi, I'm Seiji." If Jove knew her, then he safely assumed she had to be nice.

After initial introductions the ghost glanced back over to the Kelpi boil sequestered from the group, and holding a finger up to everyone "I'll be right back," he excused himself to cross the deck(carefully) to join him. "Hey, you're Calder right?" He smiled in greeting. "Junko and Yaya mentioned you. How come you're all the way over here?"

Now that Alessa was safely a part of the little group, Jove saw an appropriate opportunity to satisfy his own curiosity. He followed after Seiji like the puppy he was, not showing nearly as much concern for the state of the deck under his feet. Ears perked back up as the older boil addressed the hoofed student. Calder, was it? Maybe he would join the rest of the group now that Seiji was coming to get him.

Jove hovered only a little nervously behind the taller ghost, sniffing the air to get a sense of the kelpie. He didn't notice anything at first, as the kelpie's scent was being thoroughly disguised by the more overwhelming tang of sea water, but there it was. Fresh water. Possibly... carrots.

For a canine, Calder smelled of fresh water, overturned earth, and the back notes of a horse. Sadly for Jove, Calder did not like dogs, and he looked up to both boils with a jerk, wondering if he should take two big steps away to keep proper distance. Then again, if they asked, then he'd have to go into this long explanation. One that he thought everyone already knew. Seemed not, though if Yaya and Junko mentioned him, wouldn't that have come up.

Eyeing Jove, he glanced up at Seiji and TRIED not to look at the water. Calder now knew the flaw of being by the edge of the boat. It would have taken no effort in reaching out and shoving the boils overboard. It was actually a nice thought – until he froze and mentally scolded himself. No drowning. No drowning. No drowning. No drowning.

He breathed deep, keeping his eyes SET on the two boils. "Uh…well." How did he explain. He didn't want Lizzy to look bad, but he was wary of her nonetheless. Still, it wasn't like he could avoid them all day…..or could he? It was a big ship. Was it best if he did that? Then again, if people like these two would come up to him, it only brought attention to him. "…..I was just looking out at sea for a bit." He wished he knew more people, but at least this boil new Yaya and Junko. He liked those two. "You know Yaya and Junko? They are very nice ghouls." Oh, he felt he was just grabbing at straws to make a conversation.

It took the ghost a moment to realize he had a little blue shadow, but when he did he grinned back at the pup, clearly pleased the younger boil was sticking with him. It made looking out for him all the more easy. He did have to resist the urge to lay a hand on his shoulder, though it was a small urge. Not that he'd ever admit it out loud, but the boil had a definite soft spot for things of the cuter persuasion. It may very well be why he was so unusually smitten with Junko.

Glancing back up at Calder, he watched on as the kelpi glanced to them then down to the water, then back again. Stuffing his hands into his pockets again and all but rocking on his heels. Even if the pony had succumbed to his baser instincts, both boils in front of him were ghosts. They couldn't drown. In fact, even if shoved over, the could just as easily float right back up onto the deck. It would have been beyond pointless.

When he made mention of the sea Seiji glanced out as well, watching the roll of lazy waves out along the horizon a send before returning red on black eyes to the kelpi. "Oh." Being of the water sort, he supposed that made sense.

When Junko and Yaya were brought up he all but jumped at the topic, pointy teeth flashing as he grinned broadly. "Oh ya, well J's my ghoulfriend, and those two are pretty much attached at the hip." She chuckled, drew his more human hand from his pocket and forced it back through dark hair, fluffing it a bit. "They had nice things to say about you too." Maybe that would help ease the slight awkward tension that seemed to be floating around them.

If the pup had heard rumours about the kelpie who was having some... water issues, it certainly didn't show. He just glanced up at Seiji and up at Calder, his perked ears listening to the conversation the other ghost was trying to encourage. Then he glanced towards the water Calder had been looking at earlier, one ear swivelling away from the conversation to catch the sound of waves against the decrepit ship's hull.

Without showing an ounce of fear, the pup trotted right to the edge of the rails to look out at the sea too. Jove hadn't expected the sight at all. From the boarding side of the ship it didn't look like much, just another rather large bit of water, but from where the trio stood, it was endless. There was nothing out there but water and sky! The pup rested his elbows on the railing, and stood up on his tiptoes so he could sniff farther out the side. It was wonderful, he could smell salt and algae, water, birds, and even a little bit of decaying fish.

Cricket stared over the side of the ship with a sort of blank expression. Did she trust this strange creature trying to make her do s**t?. For some of the more hopeful students who really didn't want to spent a million days lost at sea with a ghost who didn't really worry about the 'food' thing...well......

They were fortunate, as Cricket did take the advice of the creature.

Albeit she didn't really listen to the 'cargo' on her ship. Her very...almost empty ship.

((NOTE: When a rolled event causes a lot of time to pass, you will need to RP as though the time has already passed from the event and consider it a sort of 'flashback' sequence because some of these will skip -days- at a time))

"Blue bird girl?" Her brow quirked, gaze skeptic as she looked at the demon boil before glancing over at the other girl, head shaking slowly as if to say 'Siiiiiiigh. Boys. You really can't do anything with them, can you? They're so... Boy-ish' all in one look.

"Aldara. My name is Aldara."

... ... ...

Five days had passed since she had introduced herself to Charlie and Lizzy and whoever else that had actually paid any attention during that first round. Five days had passed since they'd stepped foot on the rickety piece of... wonderfully sea-worthy vessel known as the...

Name That She Couldn't Pronounce if Her Harpy Afterlife Depended On It.

Beyond the brief interlude with the naiad, things had seemed rather... Uneventful. Aldara wouldn't quite say that she was bored, because that would just be asking for trouble to spring out of the great, deep depths, but... She was bored. Dreadfully so. There was only so much that one could do with the little bit that fit into the pathetically small piece of luggage (yes, she was still going on about that, in her head at least).

Eventually she had pulled a journal out of her bag, making her way up to the crow's nest (hahaha) to get comfortable along with a quill to make notes about her take on their journey so far...
PostPosted: Thu Mar 10, 2011 1:44 am

She couldn't help but giggle at Aldara's reaction, mainly because that's how she feels about boils some times... But they do tend to make things fun!

[Lalala, days later.]

Other than the appearance of a rather helpful Naiad, Lizzy found herself being rather glad that the ship was still afloat after so many days at sea; perhaps what Nurse Cricket said was right and they had nothing to worry about. Still, as they sailed further and further into the great unknown (seriously, where are they headed to?), she found herself growing just a tad bored...

Then again, no news is good news, right?

Carefully, she leaned on the edge of the rotting boat, now used to the smell of it, looking into the water; it was quite calming... And hypnotizing. The way the waves move and splash onto the side of the boat was rather pretty as well... It sort of reminded her of Calder. They had been pretty much avoiding each other thus far, but he hadn't done anything terrible yet, so that's a good sign, right?

Besides, he told her about his past... It must be terrible to be so lonely. The thought that he might be avoiding everyone because of one incident involving her made her feel rather guilty, and she found herself glancing around the deck, looking for the Kelpie.

It was with a lot of effort that Calder didn't rush up and pushed Jove off. Ghost or not, the compulsion had been there, but he remained still, watching the small, vulnerable dog-creature as he half-listened to Seiji. It was the mention that both Junko and Yaya spoke nicely of him that pulled his attention away from the fluffy boil and he breathed deep. Some people still thought nicely of him, so what would they think if he dunked one of their friends or anyone for that matter?

"Yeah, they are good girls." He said, feeling strained as he watched Jove from the corner of his eye. The boil had yet to speak and he wondered if he was mute like Christof. Couldn't even call for help. That was interesting. He shook his head at the thought of such easy prey and gave a rather nervous laugh to Seiji. "Yeah, you must be lucky to have Junko. Oh, look at that. I think I…. have to move a bit." Nodding, he trotted briskly away, trying to get some distance from Jove as best he could.

Several days was agonizing. Several days surrounded by water and while most would mellow out, he felt thinned from wear. Every so often he would spot a student leaning out to look at the water or be alone by themselves, and dark thoughts would pass by him. He wondered if he should have just tied a rope to his leg and tied it to the boat like a leash, but he kept his thoughts and his hands to himself. So far he was doing good, but his mouth would go dry when he saw a perfect opportunity rise up.

For the most part, he lingered around the group, and took time alone to calm his nerves. The water was the best and worst part of the trip. While it was the smell of it that compelled him to flip someone off deck, it was the same smell that made him feel at ease, and he took the time to sit on a barrel and leaned out, breathing deep and letting the waves rock back and forth. He loved that he could be this close to water without dematerialize to the Nurse's Office, but with the Nurse currently here, he guessed the whole deck was her temporary office, not that she was going to help anyone.

Smiling, he hummed the tune to Silver Darlings.

After a while, she decided to walk around to try to find Calder instead, making a conscious effort to keep away from the edge of the boat as she did; while she had found her sea legs a few days into the journey, she had decided not to risk it... Other than the fact that she could be pushed out of the boat easily, she might also slip on the moist, rotting wood and fall off... Or something similar that might just result in her drowning. She had promised her friends that she would take care of herself, after all, so it's better to be safe than sorry!

Finally, she found him by himself, seated on a barrel... Leaning out of the boat, looking rather contented.

Common sense told her not to approach, and she hesitated, watching him from a distance; they hadn't spoken since Christof forced him to "igor" for her, which was a long time ago... And there was that guilty feeling... Inhaling sharply, she put on a determined expression before moving towards him, trying to calm herself down enough so that she could at least smile naturally.

"Hey Calder," She offered the boil a small, sheepish sort of smile (that was all she could manage in her nervousness) as she stood a metre away from him and the edge of the ship, "Uh, things been going well for you?"

His tune stopped when he heard Lizzy, and he spun about to look at the small ghoul further away. Further way, which he noted. She was being mindful of him and while part of him was thankful for resisting that sort of easy temptation should she be leaning over the railing like some of the students, it was also noted a level off caution. Then again, nearly shoving someone's skull into a vat of boiling water didn't give anyone the best impression of you.

As her weak smile, he offered his own in return, turning about on the barrel he was sitting upon and feeling a little ill. "Um…yeah. It's been …good." He hadn't done anything bad yet. That was good. He was being good. Yup. Good.

"How are….you doing?" He asked, fiddling with a few locks of his tail.

It was rude to stand so far away from a person you're talking to, but... It was fine in this case, right? He must understand her reason for doing so,, right? She nodded after a short pause, her smile growing a little at his answer, "That's uh, good." Which it was! There wasn't much to comment on at an answer like that, and she tried her best not to seem too awkward about it.

"Me? I guess... I'm doing better than expected," She forced a chuckle, tilting her head a little, "I thought I would get seasick, but I didn't... Which is good. Its a little difficult to walk while the boat is bobbing up and down like this though." She was glad she chose not to wear heels, or she would be sliding around or walking around barefooted instead.

"You're doing well with uh, you know..." It was added as an afterthought, but she really meant it, judging by the appearance of her first natural-and-not-at-all-awkward smile she had since the start of this conversation, "I'm glad... I mean, we're all in school to learn and improve ourselves, right? And you seem to be making progress...!"

He looked at the boat and then at the waves, before looking back to her. "Yeah, the waves are a little bigger than what I'm used to, but I think it's nice. Guess I don't have to worry about being sea sick." He guessed being used to the currents of a river; he had a little bit more tolerance to the waves of the ocean. It was still different and he wasn’t used to the ship. "I've only been on a small fishing boat or a ferry, and they all had better….padding." He tapped a hoof on the planks of the deck demonstrating that hooves weren't really made for wood, rooting or not. It was why he liked to sit more often than not, but he did trot up and down the deck to keep from getting restless. He felt like running a bit, but that was impossible on a ship.

When she brought up his….baser instincts, he looked away and then back again. "I'm doing okay…….Just….keeping in check. I don't want anyone to get angry with me. Got in enough trouble." Then again, that wasn't the complete mindset he should be in. "I don't want to hurt anyone." That was better. "I started getting help from a friend and…keeping away from temptation." Which meant keeping away from most everyone.
PostPosted: Thu Mar 10, 2011 10:22 am

"Oh? I've never been on a boat of any kind before," Since she grew up far away from any lakes or rivers - and never really got the hang of swimming - she basically had no need to go near them either. She took one small step towards him to sort of close up the gap between them, but leaving enough distance so that he can't just... Reach out and pull her towards the edge, "Is it different? On a small boat? Does it... Rock more?" She frowned slightly; if it did, she would probably be too nervous to get on one.

"Like I said, I think you're doing well," She gave a reassuring nod before pausing, hesitating a little before moving to where Calder was and giving him a quick pat on his shoulder before immediately sitting down on the deck beside the barrel, legs crossed Indian style. Sure, the stains from the rotting wood on her dress would probably never come off after this, but he was trying his best! She should encourage him!

"A friend?" She was curious about that, but she wouldn't force him to say who if he wasn't comfortable about it. When he said saying away from 'temptation', she remembered how he did not join the rest of the students when they first boarded the boat, and that bit of guilt came back.

"You know, you don't have to stay away from everyone..." She offered with a nod, "Maybe if you stay below deck, away from the water? I don't know how long this trip would take, but... It'll help to get to know our shipmates!"

He glanced at his shoulder where she patted him and let his tail sway in consideration. At least she was close enough which meant she trusted him a bit, or maybe he just looked THAT pathetic. Debating that point, he watched as she sat down and tried to offer some alternatives to help his urges. It was a nice thought, but she failed to get the point.

"First off, escaping water on this ship…" He said and tapped the wood, watching as a thin piece of wood cracked."….is pretty hard to do. The place is swollen with it. Below deck is below water and that must means I'm closer. There is no escaping the ocean here." He leaned back trying to offer her a smile, but this trip was wearing him thin. There had been a lot of things on his mind before this boat ride that going on one to test his self control wasn't something he really wanted to do. Then again, being around water was a nice vacation.

"And I can't stand being below deck. It's all contained and closed in. I feel I need to stretch my legs and move around. Don't you?" He was getting a little crazy being on a ship for so long. No running without risking falling off and no other ways to exert his energy. As for the other people, he glanced out to the other students and tapped his hoof on the deck. "You haven't said anything about me to them, have you?" He was curious if she decided to warn them. She was a good ghoul, but even good ghouls warned their friends.
