Switch gave a delighted squeak at the wink and went about investigating the rest of the wares the racoon lady had. Hmm that one was too bright, that was too weird, that would not fit her head because of her ears and it would be a shame to put holes in it to make it work. Slowly the little bat crawled her way around the selection rejecting each item despite thinking they were all interesting in some way and she bet the others at Zephra's would have loved them even if they didn't suit her. Finally Switch's blue eyes locked onto the most magnificent thing ever. It was a hat, but it wasn't made of any material she knew, it felt cool to the touch and hard but not as hard as stone or metal. It was perfect, colourful, but not too bright and shaped just right for the head of her guardian. Well.. maybe she'd have to get him to come try it on first because his beak might not fit which was sad because it was really neat looking and wouldn't it be nice if she could find a present for him. Laird didn't fill the empty part in her caused by the loss of her mother and sister but he was still becoming important to her. Using one wing to cover the hat so no one else took it Switchfoot turned her head and called over to the falcon " Hey come look at this! " At the sound of his name being called Laird hoped closer to where Switchfoot had wandered off to. As a bird he needed little in the way of clothing except for vanity purposes and so the racoon's setup had not particularly interested him. Curious to see what had excited Switch he made his way to her only to stare in silence as she pulled back her wing to revealed a strange sort of helmet that was most definitely not going to fit on the girl's head given her ears. Now how did he tactfully explain this to her? ( It's 4 am and I am eating peeps feel free to disregard this as sugar induced craziness. IDK man I love Magneto and there are so many different toys of him with removable helmets and I was all lulzs at the thought of Switch trying to jam it on Laird's head because there is no way it's going to even remotely fit.)

The shrew studied the hat for a bit, distracted momentarily by a ferret singing a rather silly song. Shaking her head, Epra thought on what she could trade. The raccoon was getting several offers of meals and that song. And a whole bunch of others appeared, which gave the shrew some time to think. Suddenly, an idea came to her.
"How about I clean yer house fer ya?" She suddenly blurted out. She wasn't overly fond of cleaning, but she could always make Tuck do it, right?

Cecil Lily looked at the hat in question and shrugged. "I don't have anything in mind. Whatcha got?"
Imogen Lily took the box in her paws and flipped the lid back and forth, back and forth... she liked it. It was different. "Keep your berries and whatever else. I'll take this. She dropped the box on the table and held out the cheap polyester velma suit for the mouse to take. ((if you're accepting then go post for it in the rewards thread))
Marceline Lily stared at the bangles for a second, and then held out her paw to take them. "Deal" (( if you're accepting then go post for it in the rewards thread))
Switch The Raccoon woman almost told the little bat what the helmet was, but since she really didn't know and the little bat hadn't addressed her yet, she just kept a watch on the situation.
Epra Lily laughed at the shrew. She was a funny little biddy. "I don't have a house... but since that's a very amusing trade, I'll say this." She pointed at the group at large around the stall. "Why don't you clean one of their houses for you, and then you can have it." (( If you're accepting, then you don't really have to rp Epra cleaning someone's house, but hell, I'm not going to stop you if you do.... oh, and go post for your item in the rewards thread.))
Leandar ((I still want to know if this is a real item because it sounds totally ridiculous and I'm having a hard time justifying Lily finding it in a thrift shop dumpster.... I could let you have one of the items you said, but I don't think Leandar would even look good with his entire face covered... I'm hesitant to do that to you. ))
No more new clothes available after this post...

((*laughs* WHO WANTS A HOUSECLEANING? XD))
Epra started to frown at Lily's answer, but hid the expression as the raccoon continued. "Deal." She glanced around the crowd, hat in hand. As they hadn't exactly been speaking that softly, the shrew was certain that a good part of the crowd had heard the exchange. She'd wait a bit to see if any spoke up for themselves, though she had a feeling that the one who would would have a terribly messy home.

Imogen couldn't stop smiling, a large grin plastered to her face as she took the outfit with a very happy and grateful, "Thank you, uh.. Lily," remembering the raccoon's name from the young ferret's song. Putting the outfit in the bag that hung from her shoulder, she picked up the leaf bag at her feet and began to walk away.
She stopped momentarily when she heard that the shrew lady, whose name she hadn't caught, needed to clean someone's home to get the article of clothing that she wanted. Imogen thought for a moment whether or not she should ask for her home to be cleaned. She imagined the inside of her house with everything put away, plenty of room to walk, and then she imagined her inventions and plans being put away and not being able to find them. Her stomach filled with dread at the thought and she decided that, if her house needed cleaning, she would clean it herself.
Plus there was the fact that she still had nuts and berries to trade and wouldn't be going back home until she had. She turned back toward the group to wave goodbye to the raccoon, replacing the smile as she put away the idea of misplaced inventions and remembered her success at bartering. She had gotten something that she really liked and at the same time had, in a way, made her first sale. She couldn't help but feel giddy as she imagined selling many many more inventions. And with that thought at the forefront of her mind, she continued on through Mossflower to see what else she could find.

Abeya grabbed Newt’s paw and rushed back towards their Woodhaven home. “Why we runnin’, ‘Beya?” Newt panted. “Sooner I make Lily dinner, sooner I can get that pretty dress…” Abeya called out as they rounded the corner and headed towards the fishing spot just a short way form their home. After bartering a bit with the wife of a local fisher-ferret, she was able to pick up some newly smoked fish. Once they arrived home Abeya got down to work, setting Newt on the table with a mortar & pestle, grinding up some leaves and spice for the tea while she gathered the ingredients to bake a loaf of bread. For the next hour or two, it was all a flurry of paws as the two mice were hard ate work: baking bread, brewing tea, roasting vegetables and rubbing herbs into the smoked fish. “All finished!” Abeya called out triumphantly, turning proudly to Newt. But she was talking to herself. All the hustle & bustle had worn the little fellow right out. After placing him on his bed, she gathered up the meal and closed the door tightly behind her as she made her way back to Mossflower alone. She beamed from ear to ear as she presented her , hopefully, mouthwatering masterpiece to Lily.
---
Much to her relief and glee, Abeya soon left Mossflower, clutching her precious new dress. “Mom was right, treats feel even better if you work really hard for them!” She skipped and swirled, “Can’t wait to show Newt!”
