"Um." That was an enticing offer, but in all honesty, the food was much more so. Ever hissed out a slow sigh as he eased inside, eyes flicking around the place to make sure it wasn't too fancy. Not that he would have turned away, if it were. His discomfort would have landed just about until the first basket of bread showed up...
"About the monsters and things, or about you?" He did hang back, though, to let Zac take the lead: get them a table, pick the first chair...

"You already declared me sociopathic what more do you want to know..." He said with a suspicious glance. "I was referring to the terrorists but if that's too dull for you ... I -suppose- I -might- consider an equivalent exchange of information." That was seconds before he was Hug-mugged by a large woman who more or less fit the stereotype of 'motherly', she was curvy and smiling and clearly far friendlier than Zac liked but you could see him stuffing down his discomfort with familiarity and the want for a good meal, he must -really- like this place.
She ushered you both to a table and made her way to fetch menus while clucking that you were both far too thin and that no one fed their boys these days. "... Yes...she always does that." Zac said dryly as he pulled out a chair.

Oh, she did? As far as Ever was concerned, that was a bonus; his eyes lit up briefly before he forced himself to go puppy instead, shoulders hunched so he looked smaller and more pitiful like he desperately needed a motherly type to pile food in front of him and force him to eat.
"Just to you, or to everyone?" It was quiet but hopeful. People like that were easy to sucker, and free food was always good to know about...

"umm.. Depends...some not so much, if you are blatantly rude she will grab your ear and pitch you out. No one's tried to rob the store either since her husband keeps a shot gun by the oven, it went off once into the back wall, people started saying he was old Mafia and I think it actually helped business." He did NOT add that he had disposed of a few people whom he'd overheard making threads to 'knock the place over', he couldn't really...

Ever went quiet, watching the woman slip away, his head tipped and expression sliding toward calculating. Then he caught himself and flicked a look onto Zac. No, he definitely hadn't been thinking about things he could trade for food, here and there; definitely hadn't been considering ways to coax freebies out of the woman. Never.
"..right. I can ask you anything, you said." It didn't take him long to slide back into their conversation, bag at his feet and arms folded over the table. "...well, do you know what it's all about? People kept shouting 'senshi' over and over, and...Tony had some thoughts..."

"...Everyone has -thoughts-." Zac said carefully, "Most of them are inspired by things like that little 'U-Tube video of the 'evil negaverse person' who spoke like they were in a B movie...but no one questions if it was real, a joke...or propaganda. Then there was that thing on the television, where they killed everyone in the station... the Senshi I mean... I think you're the only person who never saw that... It -could- have been someone in costume, but who in their right mind is going to risk going somewhere that big and getting shot on camera." He leaned back in the chair and looked thoughtful. "I think... I think both sides are idealists, I think that... the 'Senshi' are... probably more dangerous, they wear white, its a clear attempt to state that they are 'good', in fact its a pretty damn consistent theme. They WANT to be noticed which implies this is fun for them in some way. In fact they were the first strange things to show in the city..." He paused and looked more thoughtful. "...Then the other's started showing up, I don't know why but I know they fight, you have more of a...bat man thing going on, some of them ...seem unhinged but really no more so than the people their fighting, maybe they fight because they were hurt in some way by the... senshi. I mean the one DID burn down a building... how many people have died in fires this year...in previous years, maybe just burning down s**t wasn't enough...maybe that's why white and why TV and why fighting in public. What I can't answer is ...what the hell is up with those 'things' that keep showing up... they can -do- things that are just down right creepy, all of them. Idealistic attention hogs tearing up the city in my opinion..."

That actually didn't say much more than Ever knew except -- he hadn't realized how wide spread they were, not really. He didn't watch TV. He didn't browse news sites. He definitely hadn't seen the alleged youtube video. His interactions had all been vague word of mouth, and his brief [and unflattering] one-on-ones...
He shrugged, eventually, scratching fingers up the back of his neck. "I don't know. It sounds like battling superheros and we're the stomping ground." Casualties and ego and....he shook his head just a little.
"So, tell me instead, uh. What do you study, mostly...?" Safer subject, and one he could get more into, maybe.

"In...school or on my own." He said carefully. "You saw most of what I like to read up on in my own time, school is just...standard high school stuff plus a gym glass that will make you wish that you were a paraplegic... except that they'd still make you do crunches I bet." He shrugged and glanced up with a 'this is my nice smile' look for the motherly woman who brought your drinks and an enormous basket of fresh crusty bread and some kind of oil dip with herbs floating in it.

Ever too: big eyes, mouth shifting, looking hungry and pitiful. Maybe she'd give them extra bread, too. He at least waited until she turned away to grab bread and oil and start dipping it. Devouring, though at least he chewed and swallowed before he shrugged and answered that.
"I uh. I don't really know what 'standard high school stuff' is." Another piece of bread. Zac was going to have to be quick to get some of his own. "Home schooled, until Sovereign Heights..."

"Math... science, english, history..." he waved his hand "It can't be -that- different, except maybe not the religious bend I think you probably had." he shrugged. "Nothing too insane, depending on who you ask." He grabbed a bit of bread and broke it and chewed more slowly than Ever had. "she'll bring more bread, if you stare any harder your eyes will fall into the oil-dip. She'll probably make you a take home bag...she normally does for me..."

"...probably hoping it'll stimulate vertical growth." He raised a hand to demonstrate height, and then growing: where Zac was, and then where Zac could be. Easily teasing, not a whole lot of effort put into it. He was likely too focused on the food.

"She's more concerned with weight than the height attached to it... well, for you I think she might make an exception, she won't be happy till your about 300 pounds I think...THEN she'll try and hook you up with her daughter, or her grand daughter... or both." He said with a small smirk. "I'm too young..." He added looking satisfied.

"Doesn't matter, just have to make the girl cry once and that usually ends that kind of thing." He shook his head, waving that off and grabbing another piece of bread but -- this time, he pulled it to shreds in his hand, working his way much, much more slowly through the food. "Then you just claim 'oops, must have been some kind of misunderstanding'..."

Zac blinked like he'd never thought of that before. "... why not just... hmm.." He stopped again and looked thoughtful. "I take it that's personal experience?" He asked and arched an eyebrow and tilted his head slightly.

"Um. Well, not exactly." Personal experience that hadn't actually turned out that well -- maybe. He worked his mouth, considering that and then shaking it off. He shoved another little piece of bread into his mouth. "I guess saying 'I really really like d**k' could have better results..."
