Easter at Ice's "Easter!!" Soho shouted as she flitted around the house. All the windows were shuttered in the back half of the house. And she was on strict orders not to peek out back while Ice and the others hid the eggs. "Eastereastereaster!! CANDY!!" "Sounds like someone already got into the bag." Silva drawled as he lazed on the couch. He didn't like candy that much. And the idea of searching through the grass for those tiny foil covered chocolate eggs struck him as stupid. And what was worse, he thought as he glanced down at Oblivion and Walter. Was that they'd be dodging the brat and his monster. Metal eggs... who in the hell got ahold of metal eggs? "We're ready!" Ice called as she opened the back door. Soho flew past her before the "dy" part of the statement was past her lips. "Why are we doing this again?" Bavaria asked from where she was perched on her bonded's shoulder. "Because you're just going to have to get used to your cousins, and because I want to see Walter!" Trin answered, for the fifth time since they started the walk here. "And it's Easter." "Yeah, so?" "Don't you want to go hunt for chocolate Easter eggs?" Trin asked patiently. She had already had to drag her Feien here from the building of a Feien sized gym. It was something about needed to get better in order to keep up, and out do that 'b*****d Silva'. "No, not really." Bav answered, giving a small shrug as they came up to the Ice's house. "I take it they didn't have much of an Easter in the Fleet." Trin muttered. "Now, cover your ears. HEY ICEY!!!" Trin called around back, not even going to bother with the front door. "We're heeerre!" "WE'RE IN BACK!!" Ice shouted back. She was showing Walter and Oblivion the eggs, then pointing to the yard. "There's more of those! Go find them!" And then she watching in amusement as Walter climbed onto Oblivion's back, tapping his little heels into her side and wheeled off to find his eggs. Maybe they were edible! Oblivion's were! Silva muttered something dark, heading out to the back slowly as Aleric passed him with a little smile. Nick and Nack raced out as well. They loved chocolate! "How could I have ever figured?" Trin muttered, grinning as she headed for the back. "Looks like you made it in time to hunt for the Egg, Varia." "Oh goody." The Feien muttered and flew off her shoulder, hovering in the air to watch Soho and the others. They seemed to know what they were doing. And Silva didn't look like he was enjoying this. Trin, on the other hand, went to join her sister. "Soho looks happy about this." She said. "It's probably one of the most dangerous things I've ever done." Ice said, almost seriously. "But it makes her happy." "Found one!" Nick shouted. "Me too! Me too!" Soho said, taking a pause to sit on her small pile of eggs. Aleric slowly made his way to Ice and TB, glancing at Bav. "Would you care to join us?" He asked. "I'm afraid I'm not very good at this sort of thing." And Silva dropped down on the chair, closed his eyes and made ready for a nap. Bav stayed in the air amoment longer before coming down closer to Aleric. "So, the object of this is to find the shiny eggs, huh?" She asked, looking around. It couldn't be that hard. The foil glinded in the light, after all. "The sugar highs will rule your house, and you know it." Trin snickered. "They already do." Ice said with a shrug. "You should have seen Nick and Nack last Halloween. They have a habit of stealing little kid's candy bags. But I SWEAR Silva helps them!" "It is. There's chocolate under the wrapper and whatever you find you get to eat." Aleric explained with a slight smile. "Or trade, as Nick and Nack seem so fond of. They come in different types, milk, crunchy, and butterfinger." "Found another!!" Soho shouted. "Queen of the chocolate hill.." Bav drawled looking at Soho, then shook her head and looked up at Aleric. "And you say you're bad at this? Or does everyone just beat you to them?" "Well, I'm going to have to deal with that, if Varia decides she likes chocolate. She hasn't tried it yet, that I know of, and I still need to find out what she likes and doesn't like." TB said, then remembered the basket she had. There were bits of metal on one side, candy coated mault eggs on the other, and five smaller baskets with smaller candies in them. She held it up. "Oh, and I brought this, too." "You're out to torture me, aren't you?" Ice drawled. She pointed to the little boy riding happily on his beleagured looking Daemon's back. "That's Walter and Oblivion over there. I'd introduce you, but, well... they're kind of busy right now." She almost winced as Oblivion swallowed a metal egg whole. "Chew your food, Oblivion!!" She shouted, knowing the Daemon wouldn't listen. "I'm afraid I'm not quite as... enthusiastic about chocolate." Aleric replied, still smiling. "But it's very good." Silva rolled over and snored. "Well, let's find some anyway." Bav said and took to the air to get a better view. She wanted to see what Soho was so hyped about and if it was good for bartering, then all the better. Ok, Aleric wasn't as scarring as he first came off. The whole polite thing really threw her off, however. "That's what sisters are for, Icey. Gotta have someone in like to torture. " Trin said, grinnging as she ducked inside the house to put the baskets away. Out of Oblivion's reach, she hoped. "I had to put wooden slats in front of the metal chainlink fence." Ice said casually. "She's already ate at least three of my hammers, an allen wrench set, and a couple of socket wrenches." She went on. A tiny little smirk pulled at her lips. "But there's something I need to talk to you about." She added, turning serious as she looked over at her sister. "And it's not... very good news." Aleric nodded and headed towards the grass, motioning the juvenile to follow. She didn't trust him. That was... difficult to fix. But he would give her time. "Found another!" Nack called. "Yeah? Well I found TWO!" Nick shouted back. Bav followed him before a glint caught her eye and she shot though the air for it. One foil wrapped egg, nestled in grass. "Ha! Got one!" She declaired happily, giving a crooked grin to purple male. Then she joined him, holding up the egg proudly. It was her first, after all. And she was starting to feel left out with all their shouting! Trin blinked at her sister. "What's wrong?" She asked as the happy smile dropped off her face. She just hoped she didn't have to babysit Walter and Oblivion any time soon. Her shop would be a feast for the Oblivion. "Did I ever tell you about my boyfri--er... Ex boyfriend?" Ice asked, easing her way into the subject, even though she didn't want to bring it up at all. "His name is Shade. He's... he's like me, you know? With the tail and the face markings. An Ancient." She paused again, looking out over the grass, as if she didn't want to go on. "Bavaria!!" Soho shouted. "Good job! You found one!" She had two in her arms at the time. Aleric smiled. "Very good job!" Bav rolled her eyes at the praise, but her grin didn't drop. "Now, to find more." She said, keeping the egg in her arms. They needed more if Aleric was going to get anything, and she wasn't about to share her's. If she was paying more attention to these thoughts, she would have jerked. Sharing and wanting to help the 'new' family? Already? Trin was really starting to get to her. "Yeah.. you told me of him once. Like, when you started cursing him out in different languages after you broke up with him." Trin said and leaned against the door frame. There were things about Shade that she didn't know. Like why they broke up and.. well, everything other than he was like her sister. "He's... He's a pervert, and a drunk, and goofy, and--" She stopped, sighing and pushing at her hair. "He's also really, really dangerous. TB... he's an assassain." She finally admitted, not daring to look at her sister. "He works for a really old, and dangerous woman named Kori. And he kills the people that try to mess with her business empire. Or if someone pays enough... People that try to mess with theirs." "My pile is larger." Nick boasted, sitting on his rather large *for him* pile. "Like hell!" Nack shouted from his own pile. "It is!" "Count!" Soho squeed as she caught sight of a whole stockpile of eggs all together... then spent the next ten minutes trying to figure out how she could carry them all at once. They kept falling when she went over three. Bav had six of them, three in each pile since Aleric was helping. She was used to even traied among the Pack when things went well and that was traslating over to this. Did it matter that the others had more than she? Hell yes. But the knew what the hell they were doing. She didn't. "You dated.. an assasian?" Trin asked slowly, looking at her sister. "Well, that explains alot! That's why you never much talked about him after your great vent after the break up." She said, trying to remember what they had done to 'celebrate' then deciding it was best not too know. "I didn't know he WAS at the time!" Ice hissed. She crossed her arms over her chest, looking vaguely uncomfortable. "And when I found out by accident--" Accident being she had found another woman's name and address on a scrawled note in his room, only to find out he wasn't cheating... just killing... It really didn't pay to be a snoop. "But there's more." She said reluctantly. "See... he has a job on Gaia." Reluctantly Soho took them two at a time, knowing it was the only logical method, but at the same time it was inviting others to steal her legitimate booty! It was so wrong! Aleric picked up another egg, heading for the piles that Bav was building and putting it down next to one. Why she had two piles, he wasn't certain. Perhaps she wanted to share with her brothers and sisters! Bavaria zipped back to the piles, having narrowly advoiced a large bumble bee that was around a potted flower that she had scavanged her egg from. She didn't like bees. That egg Aleric had dropped, she stuck into one pile, when she stuck the one she held in another, not about to explain what she was doing. Then she fluttered off to find more. Though the others seemed about done as it was. Trin had this sinking feeling as she listened to Ice tell her all the lovely details she had missed. "Don't tell me he's after you, now? To kill you?" She asked in an emotionless tone. If that was so, they were going to do something. Anything... "No..." She said. "If anything, I think he still... loves me." She couldn't look at her sister. It was hard enough as it was. "He's... he's after you, TB. You've made some big companies really angry with your cheaper prices and better quality." "I'm so... tired!" Soho exclaimed as she finished up her WAY too big pile and draped herself on top of it. "All mine!" Nick and Nack were rolling on the ground, fighting to the death over whose pile was bigger, since Nick disliked counting. Only Aleric picked up on the mood, slowly moving closer to the humanoids. "There has to be more..." Bav muttered, still searching for more of the foiled eggs while the others were happily sitting on their piles. Trin paled sligthly, staring at her sisted. Ok, April Fool's had already passed, so that couldn't possibly be it. She blinked again. "So... because I'm better... they want me dead...?" She asked finally. "Why not just offer me a job?!" "I don't know." Ice said, taking a ragged breath. "I don't know why they don't just hire you, I don't know how I can stop him, either. I sent him to another planet, but he's got the same abilities as I do... but more. He'll be back as soon as... actually, I'm not sure why he's not here already. He probably got distracted, the dumbass..." Aleric stayed silent from where he was eavesdropping, his heart pounding heavily against his chest. That's why she had stopped Silva... Soho sighed and started unwrapping one egg, licking the chocolate as it was uncovered. This was heaven... "Give!" "Never!" "GIVE!" "MY PILE IS BIGGER!!" Varia choked on a laugh at the two fighting as she headed for the piles. Well, no more so it was time to find out what the big fuss was about. She picked up one of the eggs and started to unwarp it. This was way Trin didn't like dealing with alot of people. They thought and did stupid things like this. She had already out lived many competing companies even before this. She sighed, moving to her sister and giving her a supportive hug. Both for herself and Ice. "I think I'm in shock." She muttered. "The whole idea that someone is out to kill me hasn't sunk in." "But what would Shade do if he found out we were sisters?" TB asked. "I mean, if he still loves you, then--" "What do you want me to do, TB?" Ice asked. "Take him back? He's a killer. I can't love a killer. I don't want to love a killer! I don't..." She sighed, looking down. "I don't know, ok? I just don't know. Maybe it would stop him. But maybe it won't. He's very serious about his job. The only thing he IS serious about." Aleric felt numb. There was nothing he, as a fairy and a short lived creature, could do about something like Shade. At least... not that he could think of at the moment. But he would. He had to. "Take him back? No way!" Trin said, more startled and about to laugh dispite the situation. "He's a perv, and a jerk, and other stuff. And he wants to kill me!" She said the last part soflty, knowing the little ones were around. "What I meant was, if he still loves you, maybe, this once, he wont?" She said, trying to sound hopeful. If he was that serious in his job, he would have already approched her. That was... If he could find her. "Maybe. But it would also give him hope if I begged." Ice said. "And trust me, begging is the only way I could get that hardheaded jerk to listen!" Soho looked down at her chocolate covered, empty hands. And licked. Trin rolled her eyes at this and folded her arms over her stomach. Well, Ice had been a little cheared up now with that idea. But... someone like Ice was out to kill her? That was the last thing she wanted. Seriously it was. Ice got scarry enough at times. Her fluffy tail gave a little shiver as it all started to sink in. Great. Bav was oblivious to all of this as she munched away on her egg, finishing it off. It was just a little too much chocolate for her liking... but it was good! Now, where was that purple one? He was missing out. Aleric took a deep breath, then stilled himself. He would fix things. One way or another. With that thought he headed back towards Bavaria, pasting a half smile on his face. And Silva grunted in his sleep. "Your chocolate egg things are there." Bav said and pointed at the other, untouched pile next to the one she was sitting by. There was another egg in her hand as she debated eating it, too. "I couldn't find any more of them." "Oh, um... thank you." He said softly, sitting down next to the pile and reaching for one. Bav gave him an odd look. Something was bothering him. His voice had lost it's happy-politness, but she wasn't one to ask. After all, she had done her nice 'family' thing and split the eggs with him. On that note, she reached for another egg to eat. Maybe it would be one of those butterfinger ones.

((A quick recap and some links. Shade is back in town, when he reached Ice's house all he found was the ancient feien, Aleric. He took Aleric with him to town to try and find Ice, but got distracted at the remains of the old Feien shop, where he found and bonded with an ancient feien named Callisto. Distracted by the new feien, who was traumatized by being stuck under a slab of cement for so long, he took her to the Fleet Headquarters, where he met Jack Bierce. After Callisto had gotten cleaned up and found out what Shade did for a living, they left and are now heading to the hotel for Shade to get cleaned up. It sounds innocent enough, unless you remember that Shade is a professional killer. And now everyone is worried about what he's going to do next. For good reason. His next hit is Ice Queen's adopted sister, Trinityblue, after all. Shade's Journal can be found here: http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?t=2764586 We start off where Aleric is leaving Shade and Callisto, feeling guilty that he allowed another ancient to be bonded to a murderer, and in a hurry to find the females who are shopping.) Walters eyes were firmly fixed on the little red and black feien fluttering around his head. He reached out, palm open, in an attempt to grab the little creature, but she avoided his grasp even more easily than the one he wanted to chew on with the big wings. But Walter was not discouraged. He gave a gurgling little laugh and tried again, intent on seeing her closer. The bright colors and happy sounds that came from her just were so perfect! "Ooooh! I want that!!" Soho said, dodging yet another grasping baby hand and flashing in front of Ice's face to point at yet another piece of something shiny. In this case it was a Tinkerbell purse that was large enough for her to fit inside. "For your new room?" Ice asked. "Well, go ahead and look inside, but I don't think--" The feien hopped into the bag, severly disappointing Walter with this disappearing act, then came out a second later, earning a cry of delight and a clapping of tiny hands. "No, it's too dark." Soho said with a pout. "But it's really pretty!" "Why don't we keep looking?" Ice asked. This was the fourth shop they had been to that day, and she was starting to get a headache from all the people that were surrounding her, but she smiled and kept walking. Of course the headache might have been coming from the constant steel against steel sound in the basket of the cart. Oblivion was making her way through yet another set of perfectly good socket wrenches. Ice made a note to get another set when they headed for the hardware store. Jade had left them as soon as they passed the library, saying something about wanting to get some research done for her next paper. but Ice had a sneaking suspicion that it was more to do with the fox boy that read for kids after school, than for school itself. And Kisa... well Kisa wasn't saying a word. In fact, when Ice glanced over her shoulder, she wasn't shocked to find the tiger woman reading a book as she trailed along behind them. "How about that?" Soho asked, taking a brief second to sit on the startled looking Walter's head as she pointed. She was gone before the knowledge that she was in grabbing distance filtered to his short little arm. He pouted for a moment, then turned his body to watch her. "It's a mirror shelf." Ice said. "All you would have to sleep on is that little slat of wood underneath the mirror. And you're going to grow sometime..." "Awww..." Soho said, still admiring herself in the mirror. "But maybe I won't be too tall!" "And maybe you will be." Ice replied. "We can't take the chance. For all we know you'll be as tall as Silva!" "Nobody's as tall as Silva!" Soho replied. "Oh, I'm sure there's some out there." Ice said, only to glance up in surprise for some reason. Soho blinked as she followed the line of sight, watching in confusion for a long moment before Aleric appeared, racing towards them. "Ice!" He said, pulling to an abrupt halt in front of her. "Ice, we... we have a problem." Ice looked down at the calmest feien she had ever met, watching as he stumbled slightly in mid air and took a deep, shuddering breath. "Aleric?" She asked. "Shade's back in town." Aleric said, his body stiffening at the thought. "And he's been bonded to an ancient feien." For a second, for a brief second, Ice's heart jerked and pounded against her chest. A thrill rushed through her, and her palms got sweaty. Shade was back, Shade had-- She jerked back to reality with a sudden, heartwrenching thud. But none of this showed on her face. It was too bad that Aleric was an empath. "Ice?" He asked. "Soho, honey, I think shopping for a new room for you is going to have to wait." She said, not replying to the question in Aleric's voice. She gently grabbed Walter's hand before it reached Aleric, leaning forward to kiss the hand. "No feien tasting today, buddy." She said with a teasing smile that didn't quite reach her eyes. Walter went somber, looking up at her for a long moment before he raised both arms in a sign of wanting to be picked up. Ice did, and Kisa pocketed her book, pulling the heavy daemon from the basket with only a tiny grunt. "Where is he now?" Ice asked Aleric, looking around the shop as if she expected Shade to show up at any moment. And strangely enough, that was completely possible. "Heading towards our house, I believe." Aleric said, glancing over at Soho for a second. "Silva is nowhere to be found. He got a call from Dee's bond, and left early this morning. But hopefully he's gotten back..." "From her bond?" "Yes." "Well I'm sure it's nothing important." She lied through her teeth. Bonds didn't usually call. "But we need to find Shade. Before he finds TB." She paused, looking down at the baby in her arms. "And to think, you're the only one NOT causing me trouble today." He gurgled a little laugh, reaching for her hair. Soho stayed silent, wondering just what her beloved sister's bond was calling for... maybe it was about the party! Oh, that would be good!

It had been... a serious b***h of a day, Silva thought as he came through the back windoe of the house. He tossed his overly chewed toothpick out the window, then picked up one of the spares that Nack had set up in a little bottlecap, clamping it between his teeth with a grunt. The skunk boy said something about it being more sanitary this way.
Silva was just glad he didn't have to deal with finding them. He had gotten all of two hours sleep between the meeting with Dee and the statement. He was tired, bitchy, and not feeling up to the little argument he planned on having with Aleric as soon as he found the ancient. All he really wanted was a drink and another six hours of sleep.
With that he headed down the hall and into the kitchen, only to jerk to a halt as Shade looked up from where he was raiding the fridge. And Silva said the first thing that came to mind. "What the ******** are you doing here?"
"Making a ham sandwich. Want one?" Shade asked. "Turns out that they don't take creds on this planet." He said before turning back to his rummaging. "She never did like pickles... how can you have a good sandwich without pickles?" He demanded as he dug deeper.
"Get out." Silva said coldly.
"You can find it?" Shade asked, pulling back. "I tried talking Callisto into going in to look, but she won't--"
It was then that Silva noticed the small feien sitting on the black skinned male's shoulder. His eyes narrowed and his scowl became more pronounced. "This day just keeps getting better, doesn't it?" He drawled, snapping his new toothpick in two between his teeth. "Let me guess, you've already killed Trinityblue?"
"Huh? Not yet, actually. Keep getting distracted." Shade said, clearly giving up on the pickles and taking the rest of the things to the counter. "I figure I'll find her soon enough. These Gaia people don't seem to go off planet very often."
"They also don't have to deal with ******** murderers very often, either." Silva said coldly.
"That's too bad, actually. ******** a murderer is a great way to get your kicks." Shade said, only starting to show that Silva's attitude was pissing him off. A tiny, evil grin pulled at his lips. "Your bond sure seemed to like it."
"I'll KILL YOU!" Silva shouted, slaming towards the other male, only to get batted aside.
"STOP IT!" Callisto shouted, getting to her feet on Shade's shoulder and fisting her tiny hands at her sides. Her voice boomed for someone so tiny. "Shade! Apologize! You! Stop acting like such an a**! And I mean NOW!"
Silva looked at her. "Stay out of this, lady. You don't know what you're dealing with."
"No, she's right." Shade said, leaning back against the counter and eyeing his sandwich. "I shouldn't have said that about Ice. She'd kick my a** if she heard it." He paused. "A lot of things have happened that you don't know anything about... um... Silva, right?"
Silva just stared at him through cold yellow eyes, waiting for a chance to attack. Shade didn't look too bothered by the lack of reply. "I screwed up, and she left me. For twenty-five years I couldn't find her. Couldn't apologize, or figure out just what the problem was to begin with--"
"The problem..." Ice's voice made them all turn as she stepped into the doorway. There was a blonde baby perched on her hip and a tiger striped woman behind her carrying a metal dragon looking creature with glowing red eyes. "Is that you're an assassain, Shade."
"Ice..." He said, taking an unconscious step forward.
"Is that the ancient?" Ice asked, jerking him to a halt with the question. "On your shoulder. You must be Callisto." She addressed the feien. "I'm sorry you were dragged into this."
Callisto looked from her bond to this white skinned female, then over at Silva with a sense of confusion. It was like she had been dropped into a full fledged soap opera and wasn't one of the main players. She wasn't sure she liked that.
But Walter's eyes were on Shade. He broke into a babbling conversation, holding out his arms to the man with an open invitation to take him from his mother. Shade grinned and stepped forward, picking up the boy before Ice could react and perching him on his hip with a slightly awkward motion. "Hey, kiddo. You been a good boy lately?" He asked.
Walter grinned up at him shamelessly.
"Give me back my baby, Shade."

Shade, Interrupted "Hey! Hey! Somebody get me Sohie or I'll make ambu - " Marne Lukas-Hein skidded into the kitchen through the back window, proving both a serious lack of both luck and timing. She tumbled on the top of the counter in a 9.9 somersault, skidding, trying to stop in midair once she saw the tableaux; when she saw the man standing in the kitchen with Walter, and the adult feien on his shoulder; and Ice, and Kisa, and Silva. It was not a scene that provoked a cheerful laugh track. "Okay, um, wow," she said, picking herself up with difficulty and stopping the pickle jar from wobbling. "Wow, sorry. Uh, you guys just go right back to whatever you were doing, that's cool. Um. Don't mind me." It was too late. Everyone turned to look at Marne, and Shade, being immune to big dramatic climaxes, took the time to take a large bit of his sandwich, then offer it up to Callisto. Who, though starving, shook her head. It wasn't an eating time! At least if this was her drama it wouldn't be! "Marne!!" Soho said, peeking out from behind Ice before rushing over to her friend. "Aleric said your bond called and I thought it was about the party and now we're standing in the kitchen with Shade. He's a killer! And I... don't know who she is." She stopped, looking at Callisto blankly. "Her name is Callisto. And unfortunately she's bonded to Shade." Aleric provided. Silva turned to glower at his brother. "We need to--" "Talk, yes, I know." Aleric said, waving off the comment. "Hey, cool, I never saw a murderer before!" said Marne, now feeling impressed and awed that she had gotten to see one in person and not on America's Most Wanted. "I guess I - Soho! Sohie." She grabbed Soho's shoulders, eyes blazing, suddenly as serious as she had been cheerful. "Soho, did Dee tell you? Did Dee tell you that she was going questing? Did she send you a note or tell you she was going? Did she say? Did she tell?" Her mind wandered off again, possibly in happy places where bunnies roamed, as she focused on Callisto. She hadn't really before. "Hey. Hey! You're hot! Do you want to be my girlfri - wait, I don't get to ask that any more. Also it would be kind of Mrs. Robinson as you are probably like ten years old or something. You're mad hot, though! Are we having an argument? I'm on Silva's side! I'm a little suck-up!" "Dee's going questing?" Soho repeated blankly, completely ignoring the hitting on Callisto. She had expected that. "She didn't--" "She's not--" Silva stopped, thiking it through. "Dee's a little... preoccupied, darlin'. But why are you here?" HE ignored the sucking up comment. And Callisto blinked as the song "Mrs. Robinson" flashed into her mind. "What does coo coo ka choo have to do with me being... old?" She asked Shade in a dramatic whisper. Shade almost choked on his sandwich. "Soho, baby, why don't you and Marne go play in my room?" Ice asked, not liking how close any of her babies were to Shade, especially Walter. (Although her heart tried to betray her by whispering about how right he looked with children...) "Okay," said Marne, distracted, taking Soho's hand; Ice was pretty much up there with God and the Pepsi Man as who to obey, but - it was wrong, Marne's mouth twisted, her green eyes narrowed as she remembered Rose's trembling voice. "Okay but Silv, Mom said that Dee never came home and that Autry dude said that she had gone questing but that's just dumb because everybody knows Dee's too scared to go questing and besides she would have told Mom and me and Soho which is why I asked - why is that murderer holding Walter? Is he his baby daddy? Because I saw that once. Dude, get a DNA test, you totally don't look anything like him." Silva went still. Then he bit back a curse. She had gotten herself killed, no doubt. Dammit all... "Get going, darlin. We'll talk about it after this is over." "You think?" Shade asked, resituating Walter on his hip. "It's the tail, right? But hell, nobody can be perfect." He said, twitching the end of his long black lizard tail slightly as he bit back a laugh. "You didn't answer my question, Shade..." Callisto said, getting irritated. "And I am not old. I was just reborn." "Marne!" Ice almost shouted. "Go!" "But I'm confused..." Soho said. "He DOESN'T look anything like Walter!" And Shade started to laugh. Hard. Marne huffed a little; she was still young and happy and thought Burgundia immortal, and Silva capable of fixing everything, and that the most important stuff was on Primetime. She dragged Soho over and hovered in the doorway, trying to think up something suitably crushing. "Okay," she said, "I guess we'll just leave you all here to have sex!" When that didn't really impress anyone, she pulled Soho away, obviously headed for Ice's room and greener pastures. "Come on, let's go do something fun." "That girl..." Silva started out, fingering his toothpick. "Has some serious issues." "I don't know, I'm up for it!" Shade siad, earning a dark look from the rest of the family. "Ok, fine, let's talk seriously. Where are the pickles, Ice? How can you not have pickles in the fridge??" "That's serious?" Callisto asked. "It's very serious!" "I hate pickles!" Ice replied. "And give me back my baby!" "He's happy here, aren't you, kiddo?" Shade asked the drooling baby against his chest. "See?" Soho blinked, looking over her shoulder at the kitchen to try and hear what was going on. Then she had an idea. "C'mon." She said, flitting at top speed out the window and around to the kitchen window, still holding Marne's hand. "We'll listen from here." Marne was more than happy to do this; they curled up in the windowsill, she absently counting Soho's fingers as they hid out of sight, but close enough to hear every word that was being said. Maybe they would pursue a career of being cute spies. "Ice is mad pissed," she whispered. "They don't seem to be having a very dramatic conversation, though." "Oikay, fine. Then tell me what the problem was. And why didn't you tell me to my face instead of leaving that stupid little note?" Shade asked, taking another bite of his sandwich. "You got any beer?" "I don't drink." Ice said, almost flinching at the question. "And the note said everything I needed to say." "Yeah, right." Shade scoffed. "So... what have you been doing for these last twentyfive years?" Silva jerked, glancing over at His bond and noticing, to his irritation, that Aleric didn't look too surprised. Just how old WAS Ice, anyway? "This and that." Ice said, her voice deceptively calm. She would get ber baby back. Even if he was faster than she was. "For the first ten... or so years I took up space piracy." "You're kidding me." Shade said, choking on his food. "Okay," Marne muttered in Soho's ear, after a moment of deeply impressed silence. "How do you become a space pirate? Because I want to become a space pirate." "You probably have to say 'Arrr' a lot and have a space ship." Soho whispered back. Aleric moved slowly across the room, sidling up to his brother and moving so they blocked Shade from the window. They knew that the girls were there. But bringing attention to it wasn't the best idea. Silva was eyeing the dramatic little diva sitting on Shade's shoulder. When she noticed she gave a little "Hmph!" and crossed her arms over her chest, sticking her nose in the air. It almost made him laugh, regardless of how dramatic the situation was. "You wouldn't make a good space pirate." Shade said, shaking his head. "No wonder I never heard of you." "I did good enough. Until I... tried to hijack a marine ship." She muttered the last, flushing slightly. "You did... what?" "What's a marine ship?" whispered Marne. "I bet it's underwater. - I wonder how you buy a feien-sized space ship. 'Cause I'd like one." She made no comment as to the fact that Aleric was blocking most of their viewing space. "No, marines are these really well built hot guys!" Soho replied, almost bouncing. "Ice has a calender that she hides behind the dresser that has pictures of them posing!" "Shh!" Aleric said over his shoulder, trying not to laugh. Shade kept staring at Callisto, finally getting her to look back at him. She glared darkly, shoving her hair over her shoulder. She did not like that tall male one bit! And he kept staring at her! "A marine ship." Ice repeated irritably. "They laughed at us. And some of them offered to teach us how to pilla--" She stopped and glared at him as if it was his fault she was letting this information be known. "Forget it. I don't need to tell you any of this." "Man I've missed you..." He said, moving forward. Ice watched him, her eyes moving automatically to the happy baby in his arms. "I want ten marines and a space ship," whispered Marne, but was immediately distracted by Shade and Ice. "Look! Look! He is totally giving her a boyfriend look." "You think??" Soho asked. "Then they can get married and he can--wait... I'm not sure that's a good thing." Aleric almost gritted his teeth as he moved back farther, whispering. "You two, please be quiet." "Sorry, Aleric." Soho whispered just a little too loudly. He sighed. "Well I haven't missed you!" Ice said, her hands fisting for a second before she reached out and snatched Walter from his hold. She pulled him to her chest almost too tightly, earning a babbled protest. Absently she kissed his head. "I need a place to stay." Shade said. "Try hell. I hear it's nice this time of year." Silva drawled. Callisto's glower increased ten fold. "OMG," said Marne, and actually disgraced herself by saying it; it came out something close to 'omug'. She tried to quiet herself down, mindful of the tone in Aleric's voice, but she was far too excited. "He should stay here and then we can matchmake and stuff. Um. Unless he's an evil murderer. We could dig a hole and make him fall in." Aleric gave up, just stayed where he was, intent on protecting them even if they DID draw attention to themselves. "Yeah, but they've got lousy tour guides." Shade replied to Silva's suggestion. "I mean someplace on Gaia. I've got a job--" "You..." Ice hissed, her change of mood startling him. Sure she had been angry before, but now murder was written on her face. Shade blinked. "You will NOT kill anyone on Gaia." Ice went on, taking a step forward and making him take an unconscious step back. "Especially not Trinityblue!" "...Huh?" "What?" Marne was totally confused now. Especially at why anybody would kill Bav's bond. Weird and also lame! Maybe they wouldn't matchmake. "Do you know him? Because I'm having a hell of a time--" He stopped, his eyes narrowing. "He's your lover?" "He?" Ice repeated. He thought Trinity was-- "Forget it. I'll find somewhere else to stay." He muttered, raising an arom and pulling his hand down, opening a strange gap in the air. He stepped through the rift, which closed with a tiny spark, leaving the people there staring blankly. Marne cupped her hands to the glass and yelled openly, attempting to comforting. "I thought TrinityBlue was a girl! But it is okay to be gay!" "I'm not-- oh forget it." Ice said, turning and handing Walter to Kisa, who hurridly shifted Oblivion to one arm. "I've got to figure out how to stop him. Again." Nobody had any suggestions to offer as she walked out the door. ************************

An Adventure We'll never Hear About
He missed the big black skinned fellow. He had seemed like fun! But he hadn't been around for a few days, so Walter was slowly starting to get resigned to his leaving. The blonde little boy scooted a little further to the left, easily providing cover for his Daemon as she eyeballed the small wooden gate that kept them stuck in their room.
Oblivion glanced over at her forgotten for a second, disapproving of his missing the strange man. She was glad he was gone. He was far too familiar with her forgotten, and he had ignored her completely. It was rude, that! She managed to send that message to her forgotten with emotions, but he just giggled a little at her. He didn't seem to take anything seriously, she thought with a sigh.
Then she turned and headbutted the gate head on. It fell with a muffled clunk as Walter crawled onto Oblivion's back and thumped his little heels against her sides, much to her consternation. She had gotten another oiling the day before, while Walter had been in his bath, so her creaking had calmed down to a squeak now and then. She crept forward, peering around the corner to see if anyone was there, then moved into the front room, heading for the back door.
It was open slightly, just enough for the daemon to stick her snout through and shove it open. She stepped onto the plank set up specifically for her, rolling down and onto the back porch.
Kisa was outside, the tigerstriped lady that Oblivion preferred. She was doing a strange form of dancing, with kicks and punches intersparing her movements. And her eyes were closed. So quietly, sneakily, the forgotten and his daemon headed in the opposite direction to the gate. Oblivion pushed her head against the gate, shoving it open.
And the two wheeled their way to freedom!
With a beleagured looking Kisa on their tails, but the two just hadn't learned the trick of seeing if they were being tailed yet. They wheeled down the driveway and onto the street, looking around with wide eyes at the sleepy looking neighborhood. Oblivion's eyes widened as she caught sight of the gigantic metal poles sticking from the ground very ten feet. They were so thick and tasty looking that she headed for the nearest one.
She made her way over to it, looking up at it for a long moment before she tilted her head and opened her mouth.
Right as a strange musical sound filled the air. Walter twisted on her back, clapping his hands and babbling loudly as a small, colorful ice cream truck came down the street, stopping right next to them. He looked up at the window, then farther up, at the cone shaped plastic thing on the roof. He wanted that! It was HUGE!
And Oblivion turned, reaching up and taking a bite of the machine. The screeching sound of metal against metal made the driver jerk. Had he ran into something? He hadn't felt anything-- He got out of his truck, looking at the front of it to see if he had. But there was nothing there.
He moved to the side nearest the curb and stared blankly. There, right over his back wheel, was a giant... bite mark?
Walter let out a laugh as he and Oblivion were carried away as fast as possible. He liked speed! And Kisa was really, really fast!
And Kisa made a note never, ever, to let them explore on their own again.

Loose Ends and Apologies Trinityblue was once more at the door step of her sister's, Ice Queen, house. This time she was ringing the doorbell, hitting it repeatedly with an impatient air. "Would you stop that! It's probably driving them nuts!" Bavaria muttered, sitting on her bond's shoulder once more. Her arms were crossed over her chest as she waited. "Then Ice should answer the door faster! Especially when I have good news." Trin answered, not at all detured from what she was doing. "Baseball bat, check... machete, check, porn magazines... check." Ice muttered. Then she looked at Silva, raising an eyebrow. "Do we REALLY need these?" "Do you want to keep him in place long enough to use that bat?" Silva asked. "It's either that or you pull your shirt up." And he twitched with that, hating the idea even more than she would. Not that Ice noticed. "Good point... Okay, I think we're ready--" She finally realized that the doorbell was being rang. "Crap. Do you think he's here? No, he wouldn't use the--" "Just open the door, Ice." "Oh, oh right." Ice said, reaching and opening the front door. "I'm going to live!" Trin announced as soon as the door was open enough for the two to see eachother. She then lauched herself at Ice, wrapping her arms around her in a gaint hug. Bav took off from her shoulder the moment she moved forward and started to hover in the air. Her bond was such a dence.... Ice blinked. "Um... what?" "Shade! He stopped by my house last night to do his job." Trin started as she walked in, closing the door behind her. She was talking almost possibly to fast for most to understand what she was saying. It was something that happened when she was very excited. "But then he saw a picture of us that I have on my mantle and decided that he didn't want you to hate him forever, so he decided to fake his kill and took one of the pirate-bots, beat it up and all that to take instead. Poor Frank!" "He also had to cut me for it too." She finished and took a deep breath. "He... dropped by... last night..." Ice repeated. "AND YOU DIDN'T TELL ME TILL NOW??!" She shouted angrily right in her sisters face. "YOU'RE LUCKY I DON'T KILL YOU MYSELF!!!" "You wouldn't answer your cell phone!! I left a message!!! And by the time I got home, it was too late to try again!" Trin shouted back, more in a defencive way than an angry one. "It wasn't on!" Ice growled. Then she stopped. "But Shade... he... What if someone finds out? Then what will happen? Will someone else come? Will he get in trouble? Oh lord..." "If someone else comes at least we know what to expect." Silva said after a moment. "And who gives a s**t of he gets in trouble or not. The b*****d deserves it." "And as long as it's someone else, we wont have to worry about them opening a rift into the room to kill us." Bav spoke now, still hovering in the air and not about to near the two bonds incase they started yelling again. Trin sighed. "This is why I'm going to have to lay low for a while. I got money saved up anyway. If that does happen.... Maybe Shade'll quit and come help us." She said softly and in a much calmer tone. "A while?" Ice asked. "But what about the things you've been working on lately? All your advances? Ever since we stopped pirating that stuff's become your life..." Silva scowled, then moved lower, pulling the playboy mag from Ice's pocket and tucking it under his arm. Then he turned and flew away. Bav lifted a brow at this, then started to follow him. Where ever he was going, it was probably more interesting than here, talking about stuff she already knew. "I can still work on them. Just beause I have to lay low doesn't mean I gotta stop." Trin answered and gave a small shrug. "I just can't show it off for the next 50 or so years. Besides, I should probably hit the books again..." The enthusiam in her voice died at that thought. Hitting the books for what she knew would come. Joy. "Yeah..." Ice said, hesitating. Then she sighed. "Walter should be waking up from his nap. Do you want to meet him and Oblivion? You didn't get to see them much at the Easter egg hunt. Just you know, put all metal you've got on you in this plastic box." She said as she walked to a very high shelf near the door and pulled off the plastic box in question. "Just in case." Silva tossed the book into the closet before he headed for the hope chest, dropping down on the plush couch that Nick and Nack slept on and leaning his elbows on his knees. His head leaned down, almost hanging. "What's wrong with you?" Bavaria asked as she landed on the edge of the chest. She took a moment to look around the room again for where the others were, only to return looking at him. Trin pulled out a few things that were in her pockets, placing them in the box. One was a remotcontrol like device. "Hate to lose that thing." She muttered and gave a sheepish grin as she set it in. "And that should be it. How are things going with him?" "He's a sweetheart, of course..." Ice said as she led the way down the hall, frowning ever so slightly. "And I love Oblivion, although she's a bit grumpy and shy around new people. It's just when you put the two together... of course they're always together... well..." She glanced over at Trinity, grinning. "They're a bit of a handful." She pulled open the door to Walter and Oblivion's room, revealing the pair standing at the window, Walter almost halfway out already. "Did I mention their little escapes?" She asked before rushing over to grab the little blonde boy. Silva glanced up at her, then grunted, running a hand over his face. "Nothing." "You're a lousy lier." The hope feien muttered, dropping down on the edge of the chest and dangled her feet over the edge, kicking them slightly. Trin grinned at this, watching as her sister. "Just be glade he can't rift things, or you'd know what mom was going through with us." She teased, walking into the room. "So true." Ice said as she walked over to her sister, the baby on her hip, Oblivion wheeling along beside her. The daemon paused, sniffing at Trinity suspiciously. Then she moved closer, nosing Trinity's pants, as if-- "I think you forgot something." Ice said casually. "I said it was nothing, darlin. When I say it's nothing then I mean it's nothing." Silva growled. "Well you sure aren't actin like it's nothin." Bav bit back, glaring down at him. "If your relieved, then you're sure are actin weird about it all, old man." Trin blinked and stuck her hand into a pocket, pulling out a few nuts and bolts. "Huh... I did." She then crouched down, holding them out to Oblivion on the palm of her hand. "This what you're looking for?" Oblivion's eyes went blue as she gently took the nuts and bolts from her, munching away with a screeching sound. "I'm afraid Kisa indulges her." Ice said with a grin. "She gets little snacks like that all the time. I swear she does the sniffing thing just to prompt us." Walter blabbered something in baby talk and Ice reached into her pocket, pulling out a cookie. The same cookie she had stolen from him earlier. "We had to weigh down the trashcans to keep them from knocking them over." She added as Walter took the cookie then reached for Trinity, urgently. ""I'm not relieved." Silva growled, standing. "Show me what you've learned, girl." He said, motioning for her to follow him as he entered a loose fighting stance. Now it was time for her to get her a** handed to her. Bav growled lightly, sliding off the edge of the trunk and fluttering so she stood opposite Silva. She moved into a stance that she had learned, glaring up at him. One thing she wasn't about to do was back down from a challange. Especially one he created. She wasn't going to show him weakness. Trin took Walter into her arms now. "Hello honey. Someone seems happy to see a new face." She said told him in a happy tone. Then gave Ice a grin. "He abandons you so easily, sis." "Doesn't he just?" Ice asked, shaking her head as she handed him over. "But Oblivion seems to like you, too, of course that might have to do with the metal you carry." She paused. "You want to babysit sometime?" Walter babbled something up at Trinty, telling her about his recent escape attempt, even as he slobbered on his cookie between statements. And Oblivion waited patiently for another treat. "Attack me." Silva said. Bav advanced on him, then spun to deliever a round house kick at him and already waiting for him to counter it. He was good and she wasn't about to undersetimate him. That and her skills were like a grain of sand to him. "I'd have to do something about blocking off my shop. If Oblivion got in there.... I'd be done for and you know it. She'd be in heaven, though." Trin said when Walter paused in his baby talk. She had no clue as to what he was talking about, but it sounded like it would be interesting. "Take it you would want a night out with your girls?" Then Trin dug in her pocket again with one hand, seeing if she missed on. Finding one lone bolt, she handed it off to Oblivion, courching once more. "Jade has a boyfriend." Ice said, grinning slightly. "And Kisa's been looking a little stressed lately, I think she catches more of the escape attempts than I do. But I just thought they'd like a new place to explore." "That and I'm tired of only my socket wrenches going missing." She added evilly. Silva blocked it. "Again." He said, not attacking back. Bav frowned still and touched down only to spin again, putting more force behind her kick this time. The way he had said that seemed like she was to do the same attack again. One she didn't have too much problem in doing. "Oh that's crewl!" Trin frowned at her sister, standing back up. "But atleast I know what to do with alot of the scrap metal I have now." One hand rubbed Walter's back absently. Then she blinked. "Jade's got a boyfriend? Bout time." "A college fox boy that reads to the kids up at the library after classes." Ice said. "A bit young, but I guess so is Jade, you know? It's kind of cute, actually. She keeps sneaking out to do 'research.'" Walter gnawed on his cookie for a moment before making yet another indecipherable comment, which was accented with a little nod. Oblivion chewed happily on the bolt, hoping that this one would last a while. "Better. Now a different attack." Silva said. Bav again touched that foot down while changing her stance as she now threw a jab at his stomach. Even if he was a hell of alot taller than she. It sucked being so little sometimes. "Oh yeah?" Trin asked to both Ice and Walter as a grin tugged on her lips. Seriously, Walter was adorible! "I can jsut guess at what Jade's 'researching' and I don't think he has to do with books." She said lightly. "I'm sure it doesn't." Ice replied dryly. "Shall we move to the front room? It's more comfortable." She leaned down, hauling the daemon into her arms. "Ooof... all that metal eating has made you heavier..." She complained to Oblivion. Oblivion looked offended. "Faster. And harder this time." Silva commanded as he blocked the punch. "Any harder and I sacerfice my balance." Bav replied with a slight growl in her voice. But she did as he told her, drawing her arm back and throwing another punch with more of her weight behind it, allowing her front leg to slide over the ground for better support. "You ever wonder where it all goes?" Trin asked curiously, heading for the front room. "I have no idea." Ice said with a shrug. "For all I know she's using it to grow bigger. There's a lot of things I don't know about these two, actually." She said as she dropped down on the couch, idly running a hand over Oblivion's back to see if she was still nicely oiled. "Thing is... Over the last couple of weeks I've been having these... strange dreams." She said after a moment. Then she shook her head. "Nah, it's probably stress from the whole Shade problem." Walter offered TB the last soggy bite of cookie with another bit of baby talk. "Is your balance that bad?" Silva asked, blocking yet again. "No, you're just too damned tall! How the hell did you get so tall anyway? Did they feed you merical grow or what?" Bav asked, again bringing her hand back for another hit. Her knucks and shin were stinging from his blocks, but she ignored it. "Oh, thank you hun." Trin said with a smile and tilted the small hand slightly so she got a small nibble off of the dry part of the cookie. Where ever it had been, she didn't wanna know. Then she looked to her sister. "Dreams? What kinda dreams?" "Nightmares." Ice said simply as Walter finished off the part that TB hadn't nibbled. "The first one was like... England right when the car was invented. I was attacked by these thugs that I could almost see through... I don't know. It was just strange." "I turned into an adult." Silva said. "Different hit. And this time attack from the air." Bav gave a snort, already stopping that attack and hopping into the air. She flew down at him with another punch. Trin lifted a brow at her sister. "Dreams normally are weird and sometimes don't make sense. What happened?" "They attacked me. And right before it got ugly Walter woke me up crying." Ice said. "But the more I think about it, it probably is because of stress." She glanced over at Walter, smiling at his earnest look. "I don't think Walter would know what a nightmare was, actually. He's usually pretty happy." Silva blocked again. "Again." Bav grabbed the hand that he blocked with, using it a leaverage to swing a kick at his head. He did say again. "I'm sure there are some things that'll upset him too, but for now, he needs to be happy, right little guy?" Trin said, grinning at the slobbering boy in her arms. Babies weren't really her favorite thing in the world, but for Ice's kids, she made an exception. Walter grinned and babbled his agreement before crawling off her lap and looking down. Oblivion slipped off Ice's lap, dropping to the floor and wheeling over to where Walter was, so the Forgotten could drop on her back. "Better." Silva said, blocking the kick just as easily. "And again." Was she out to impress him? Hell no, just the repetiveness of how she was attacking was boring her right now. This time Bav dropped to the ground as quickly as she could and spun to sweep his legs out from under him. Trin blinked, watching them. "Where are they going now?" She asked being slightly confused. Huh, interesting way to get around. Oblivion wheeled away slowly, heading yet again to the pole lamp that Ice had stuck way back behind a couch. "Trying to get another snack." Ice said with a sigh, shaking her head even as Oblivion got caught between the couch and the wall. Silva jumped. Then he stayed in the air, just high enough that a kick wouldn't affect him. "Nice trick. But not for someone that has wings." He said. "Try again." Bav grinned at him, rolling back onto her feet and followed the motion with another kick from her other leg. "Yeah, I know. Just tryin to add a little spice to this." She told him. Trin snickered as she watched. "With as much as she's eating, she might turn out to be huge, Icey. Then what will you do?" "Take her up to the junkyard." Ice replied with a sigh. "Or just buy beat up cars from it and bring them home. Walter eats a lot, too. We've had to put a restraint on how much he can get a hold of. So how's Bavaria getting along? Have you two reached an agreement?" "Spice is fine, but wasting opportunities is just plain stupid." Silva said. "Always remember who you're up against." Bav pulled back, staying in a stance as she listened to him. The small grin on her lips took a more serious air. "I remeber, old man, and I remember that you can easily kick my a**. Doesn't mean I'm going to stop. I will get stronger and I will get better." She told him. Then started the attack again. She would get better, far better, and he was her way to that goal. "I guess you could say that." Trin answered, thinking it over. With all that was going on, she really didn't have time to think on it. "She's still bossy and gets demanding at times... but she's really taken to helping me in the shop. And likes showing it off to her siblings." Even if that was just limited to Brunswick right now. "Feien can be hard to get along with." Ice agreed. "But it sounds like you're getting used to each other. That's good." She glanced over, watching as Walter slipped off of Oblivions back and crawled in front of her, reaching his hand out to try and grab the pole. His arm was still a bit too short, but that didn't stop him from trying! "You damn well better." Silva said. "I don't like wasting my time, darlin. Unless it's on something more entertaining than training a group of brats." "Gee, what could possibly be more fun then that." Bavaria asked scarcasticly. "That's the whole reason why I'm here, old man. I'm going to get stronger, then I'm going to kick your a**." That was farfetched and she knew it, but it felt good to say it all the same. "We've been trying out foods that she likes and doesn't like. And I've been trying to take her to the homes of her siblings, so I know where she'd run off too. So far, I've only made it to Jack's place. He's the bond to Brunswick." Trin told her, watching as Walter tried to get the light for Oblivion. "Sounds like a good plan. I know she comes over here pretty often, too. Silva's been teaching a group of them self defense." Ice said. Walter was stubborn. He hadn't given up, but he did back up, looking over the scene for a good long moment before crawling onto Oblivion, then onto the couch to try again from a higher vantage. "Then you'll need to get a hell of a lot faster, too." Silva said with a tiny smirk. "I already know that." Bav gave a little snort, that serious grin was still on her face even as he said that. "I got my self a little set up back home to keep working at it, too." "He is a clever thing, isn't he?" Trin asked as she watched them, smirking slightly. "I figured she'd be coming here. She and her brother know Silva and talk about him sometimes. Usually with Varia calling him a b*****d." She said with a small shrug and a smirk. "Think they look up to him already?" "Well compared to them he's pretty tall." Ice said with a shrug. "It's hard not to look up at him." Walter let out a little grunt as his fingers barely brushed the pole, then looked down at Oblivion with a slight shake of his head and a babbled apology. He would have to figure something out to make his reach longer! "Good." Silva said. "It's a hell of a lot better than Soho does." He shook his head. "That's enough for now." Varia dropped out of her stance easy enough and flexed the hand she had done the most hitting with. "She doesn't seem like much of a fighter, or that she even wants to fight." She commented, still watching him just incase he decided to resume her little training. "That's not what I meant, Icey." Trin snickered and went quiet a moment. "You know.... Shade was thinking about giving up his job after my hit..." She said softly, still not looking at the other female. Ice fell silent for a long moment, then stood, crossing the room to pick Walter up. "He can do whatever he wants. He's a free man." "She's not. But she needs better stamina." Silva said, heading back to the couch. This time when he dropped down he sort of lounged there, looking into the distance for a moment. "I'm... sorry, kid." He finally said, not quite looking at her. Bav blinked at this, then blinked again and took a seat on the floor, leaning back on her hands. He was sorry? "For....what?" She asked slowly. Trin sighed at the sudden mood change she had caused in her sister, and stood as well. That was still a touchy subject, huh? "Right, bad topic." She said softly, then started to rack her brian for something else. "Know what? I think Walter could use a new batch of cookies. The kind grandma made us when we were kids! She gave me the receipe, ya know." Her tail gave a happy little swish at this idea. "Huh? Sure! I'd like to have some of those, too, actually." Ice said, smiling once again. "The ones with the peanut butter in them?" Walter cheered up again as soon as he heard the word cookie. And Oblivion gave one last mournful look at the pole before turning back to observe the scene silently once again. "I just am." He said. "Accept it and never mention it again, darlin. If you know what's best for you." Bav choked and started to laugh at that threat. She had no doubt in it, but it was funny how he put it. "I was actually thinking the catnip ones.... but if you want!" Trin said and made her way for Ice's kitchen, already plundering it for the things she would need to make peanut butter chocolate cookies. "Next time I come, I'll bring some more scraps." She said, looking at Oblivion a moment. "Here, we'll help you." Ice said, walking in with Walter and Oblivion. "And any silverware that hits the ground is Oblivion's." She added, much to Oblivion's joy. Silva just smirked slightly. "Yeah, sure." Bav said once she had recovered enough too and gave a small shrug, looking at him again. He still didn't look at ease, but whatever. "You still going to train us brats?" She then asked, as if to change the subject from the appology. Even if she wanted to know why. Silva didn't seem the type to give them out freely. A small c***k sound of a spoon hitting the tile floor rang though the kitchen. "Whoops." Trin's voice followed after having 'accedently' dropped a spoon. She'd owe Ice a new silverwear set later. "Yeah." Was Silva's only reply.

Walter let out a loud laugh as he was grabbed from behind. He twisted his body, looking up at the tiger woman holding him and waved his arms. SOMEONE (and we will name no names) had left the closet door open. On a thunderstorm. And the wind and water was slamming the door against the wall over and over again, making it hard to close.
Ice's room was soaked completely, and the water was driving Oblivion insane. She kept trying to burrow under the bed, which didn't help because the carpet was soaked under there, as well. And her forgotten was enjoying himself. It figured.
"WHAT is going on in here?" Ice demanded as she entered the room. She muttered something dark and leaned forward, covering her face with her arm as she trudged through the stinging rain and grabbed the door, slamming it shut.
Everything went still as she leaned back against the door and took a deep breath. "Open the window--no, I'll get it, go get Oblivion out from under the bed." She shifted Walter to her hip and headed for the window, shoving it open as far as it could go. Then she looked down at the soggy baby, shaking her head.
"I almost swear that they've figured out how to open doors." She said idly as she headed out of the room and to Walter's. There she placed him on the ground before digging out new, dry clothes and a diaper. Kisa was rubbing Oblivion down with a dry towel, even as she grabbed the plastic bottle of oil from the closet.
Ice paused. "Did you open the door?" She asked her daughter. Kisa shook her head. "And Silva wasn't in the room. I doubt he'd head into that sort of scene, too..."
Kisa looked down at Oblivion. Then she shook her head.
"Just in case..." Ice said as she looked around. "That rifting door is too dangerous. We'll have to lock it up until they're a little older." She sighed at that thought, shaking her head. "Silva's not going to like it..."
Kisa nodded. She wouldn't like it much either...
"But I suppose we could put the key on a really tall shelf." Ice added. "Maybe have a chain lock on the inside to keep it from opening too much while we're through. Just as long as we don't soak my room again." she started undressing Walter and drying him off with a practiced move. The baby made a face as she tried to pull his new diaper on. Then he squirmed to keep her from getting a good hold on him.
"Hey, you! Hold still, you goof!" She said, trying not to laugh as he smiled and kept squirming. Then he turned over and started to crawl towards Oblivion, naked as could be. "Oh no you don't!" Ice said, picking him up with her tail and bringing him up to eye level. "You're a little runaway, aren't you? Both of you."
Kisa sighed, wondering how she had only just now figured that out. Oblivion's tail twitched, but her eyes didn't turn red. Ice would never hurt her forgotten. And it showed by how the long lizard tail supported his weight even as she lectured them.
"You know what this means, don't you?" Ice asked Kisa. "I think these two have gotten bored."
Kisa gave her a questioning look, wondering where she was going with that.
"We need... baby olympics!!" Ice announced happily. "Get the baby pool out, Kisa, someone's going swimming!"
And Walter laughed in joy, even though he had no idea what swimming was.

Oblivion didn't like swimming. She realized that the moment they brought out the hose. With a silent protest she wheeled a few feet from her very splashy forgotten and watched with a sigh. It was like bathing, but outside and in shorts.
Walter looked around him, then slapped his hands against the water, letting out a laugh as it splashed him in the face. Then he kicked his feet, knowing he would get scrubbed down any moment. But all that happened was that Ice dropped down across from him in a strange outfit that showed her arms and legs. And it was bright red! He let out a little laugh and splashed her, too.
"We need a bigger pool." Ice said as she splashed him gently back. Walter's eyes went big, then he laughed again, splashing harder. "But first..." She said, glancing over at Jade. "Have you got the surprise ready?"
Jade nodded and glanced down at Oblivion with a slight smile. They seemed to like getting out of strange places, so she and Ice had ordered something online. It was a plastic dog training set, full of ramps and boxes and tubes to climb through. They had set it up in the corner of the yard and covered it with a tarp, but she walked over to it, tugging the tarp off and looking it over for a moment. Then she glanced over at Oblivion, who was watching her curiously.
"Once Walter gets bored with this we'll dry him off and--" Ice stopped to yelp as she was splashed again, harder this time. "Oooh, someone likes swimming!" She said as she returned the splash, hitting his chest with the water and earring a giggle.
Walter kicked his legs and felt his bottom come up off the plastic for a brief moment. His eyes widened at the sensation. And when he came back down he tried it again, clapping his hands happily at the sensation. He liked floating!
They played for a good half an hour before he grew bored. Ice pulled him out of the water and dried him off briskly with a towel before she took him over to the new toy. Oblivion creaked alongside her, grateful to be as far away from the water as possible. Then Ice put Walter down, who promptly pulled himself up on his Daemon's back. They looked at the plastic thing for a long time, a frown pulling at Walter's lips. This was a new thing. He wasn't sure he liked it.
Oblivion's tail whipped behind her once as she hesitantly took a step forward.
"You think they don't like it?" Ice asked, looking worried for the first time. Walter had seen the pool before. Ever since it had gotten warmer Ice had set up both for Silva and the others. So it hadn't been too big of a surprise. But this...
Jade shrugged. And they watched in silence as the pair made their way up the ramp. And then they waited, looking at each other as the two disappeared into the tunnel.
And then they heard a giggle.
"Looks like they like it, after all." Ice said with a little grin. "Where do you think they went?" She asked a little louder, peering into the tunnel curiously. She got a brief glimpse of a perfect smile and golden curls before they disappeared around the corner. "Oh no! They're escaping!" She cried playfully.
And Walter let out a laugh of pure pleasure.

First Forgotten Friends Ice took a deep breath and held it for a moment before letting it out. Walter was on her hip, Oblivion at her side. She didn't trust the two together any closer than that, since they would run the moment they could. "Okay... I've put this off long enough." She whispered to the blonde baby boy before she reached up and knocked on Wren and Halo's door. "Let's find out just where you came from." Halo was doing her wifely duty and cleaning. And by cleaning that means, of course, that she was instructing the horde of medusa's on the final measures of dusting all the bookshelves and vacuuming the carpets. As soon as the knock came (a surprise, not many people bothered them) she shooed them all away. What would the neighbors think!? While his mother was occupied, Otium had walked to the door with Immaculate and got on his tip toes to turn the knob. The little boy stared up at the lady there, a stranger, and while he knew how to answer the door he really hadn't mastered the greeting part yet. Talking wasn't his thing. Immaculate recognized the robotic companion though and wagged her tail. Their meeting had been breif, in the trash cans by the Mansion, but she remembered. The bear-cat yipped and circled Otium's legs. The little boy just stared with wide barely-blue eyes. Ice blinked, then grinned, relaxing somewhat. Although the fact that talking to a little boy was a way of putting off her conversation with Wren about Walter did flash through her mind and make her feel guilty. "Hi." She said. "Is your daddy or mommy home?" Walter let out a happy little sound at the sight of Immaculate, waving his hands slightly as he babbled a happy, if incomprehensive, greeting. Oblivion's eyes narrowed slightly as she recognized the bear cat that Walter had been so happy to meet. Jealousy was an ugly thing, but Oblivion had never cared about that. Otium blinked and adjusted his hat. He was wearing it, of course, along with an impeccably arranged suit all in shades of black and grey. He had the tie, waistcoat, gloves peeking from his pocket, the whole nine. Immaculate was oblivious to the robot's mood. She could sense animal's moods.. it was an animal thing.. but not a robot. She ventured forward to sniff the strange living metal thing. Halo made her way to the front after hoarding the snake men (and woman) back into their quarters. She found Otium at the open door and laughed. "You need to say hello, Otium. It's polite. Hi.. can I help you? I'm Halo." She was a tall woman with a choppy cut black hairstyle that fell around her shoulders. She had earrings up and down her ears and wore a lot of black. It seemed something she was comfortable in, not a statement. She's a tall drink of water, mostly legs, with a tank top revealing one arm to be mostly tattooed. Not your usual 'mom' image. "Immaculate.. don't bother the nice.... ..... .. robot?" These people in this neighborhood, half the time she had no idea how to classify anyone. Ice grinned, shrugging. She had white skin, and a long lizard like tail. Her T-shirt, stretched slightly by Walter's hold on her, said "I don't get even, I just get more odd." Her short white hair had been pulled back on top, to keep it from falling in her eyes. "We're not sure what she is, either." She said with a shrug. "Her name's Oblivion. This is Walter, and I'm Ice. Is there a... Wren here?" Walter kicked his bare feet, not noticing that his brand new black jeans had yet ANOTHER hole in the knee, or that his white dress shirt was unbuttoned to his chest. But his suspenders were still good! Surprisingly, considering his habit of running off into new adventures. Halo looked at the cute and messy little boy and thought him a complete contrast from Otium. Not only was Otium very neat, but he wasn't as... animated as Walter seemed to be. "Hey, Walter and Oblivion.." She would have patted the robot, and looked as if she were about to, but noticed the rusty thing's sour 'mood'. "Nice to meet you, Ice. Wren's not home right now. I'm his wife. Though judging by your boy.. You've been to the Library?" Anytime she saw a child with a 'creature companion' she jumped to conclusions. She wasn't always right but most times she had been. "Would you like to come in?" Otium took the cue and turned, adjusting his top hat again, and walked into the house. With only a nod Immaculte trotted to his side as if she were a well trained pet. She always did what the boy told her and never minded. "Sure." Ice said as she followed them in. "That's the thing, actually. I didn't go to the... um... Library. Patrick did. See, he said he found Walter in a book and that I should ask Wren exactly what that means." She hesitated. "Patrick's just a kid, really. He wasn't properly able to take care of these two, so I offered to raise them..." And why did she feel guilty about that? Oblivion creaked once as she rolled after her forgotten, her eyes flashing red as she looked around. Walter was having a good old time, she thought as she heard him babble some observation to anyone willing to listen. But she just hoped they weren't going to be passed over to someone ELSE. AGAIN. She was, reluctantly, fond of how they lived now. Wren and Halo's home looked like a quaint cottage with a nice sized yard from the outside but each doorway they passed seemed to give way to a room that by all logical means, should not fit in the home. There was magic afoot. Anyone sensitive to magical fields could tell as soon as they'd come up the path. Due to their unique families and genetic makeups, Wren and Halo were very careful about wards and the like. While walking two very handsome and well dressed men in their 40's passed them in the hall. They both flashed a wave to Halo and flashed dashing grins to Ice and the boys. Otium smiled a TINY bit and waved as well. As soon as they passed they went back to talking to one another, a long and fast rattle of Italian. "Don't mind them. They live in a wing of the house. The most troublesome couple of queens you'll ever meet. Now.. the book and the library. Well that's a story." She nodded her head to a doorway and walked into a nice sized family room. The recently cleaned up children's toys were in a bin in the corner. "If Walter wants to play, I'm sure Otium can share some of he and his brothers' toys. And before I start, let me get the hostess thing out of the way, something to drink or eat? Feel free to sit." She motioned to some beat up but comfortable leather recliners. Immaculate immediately went to the bin and whacked it with a large paw, overspilling the whole bin. She knew it would make Halo twitch, since the whole thing was just cleaned. Out spilled as many toys as you could want, balls, action figures, stuffed animals, blocks, everything. Ice didn't even ask about the "Queens." She just smiled as she sat down. "No, I'm fine, really. And I probably shouldn't let Walter down until the door's closed. He and Oblivion have this game they play... Opening doors, or gates, or almost eating lamp poles..." She paused. "Speaking of which, you might want to hide anything metal that you're fond of." She flushed slightly at that comment, but had to stick firm to it. "Oblivion likes to eat it." Walter squirmed, wanting to be closer to his daemon. He didn't so much as glance at the toys. He wasn't big on new things like that. But Ice just smiled and kept him close. Oblivion, on the other hand, looked around for anything shiny, and therefore, edible. "Well Otium and Mael seemed to have collected and hoarded anything really nice and in reach." Halo frowned. "We have the fireplace pokers but she can eat them if it'll make her happy." Otium found a child sized chair for himself and pulled it over by the toy bin. He sat down (wouldn't want to get his pants dirty!) and picked up a ball. He tossed it a bit away and Immaculate yapped and ran after it. She was pretty fast with her lumbering run. Halo returned to the chairs once she closed the door (and latched it). "I know how adventurous kids can be. Mael is pretty bad and he always ropes Otium into it. And Lafe and Alex.. OI!" The woman shook her head. "Just be glad those two are asleep." Yes it was the middle of the afternoon, but those boys slept all day and were up all night. "So yeah.. The Library. We each have a story. Each is different. Wren's and my incidents were a few months apart but each of us were lured to the House." She paused. "The House is a whole different batch of trouble. But yeah. We all were lured there we found a weird path, like the House was guiding us and playing with us. It does that. And then we end up in this library in the basement. It's HUGE. Have you been there yet?" "I haven't, I'm afraid." Ice said with a shake of her head as she let Walter down. "I do have this..." She said as she pulled out the piece of paper Patrick had given her. "So do they all have a little excerpt like this?" She asked curiously. Walter climbed onto his daemon's back and thumped his heels against her side, urging her towards the bearcat and the other boy. He babbled a greeting to Otium, waving happily before they pulled to a stop nearby. Oblivion glanced towards the metal pieces next to the fireplace, longingly. But Walter was visiting. So she would wait. A while, at least. "Yep. Every single one." Halo got up and opened a box on a higher shelf and pulled out two. She showed them to Ice. One was Mael's: "Nothing more than a shadow on the surface was what he saw as he plunged backwards through the quickly darkening water. His arms reach out for something to catch hold of, and yet there is nothing. Something as red as blood swims through the water; for all he knew, it could be, since he remembers nothing more than admiring her golden hair before the attack was sprung. All air leaves his lungs, and he could feel his lungs on fire from the suffocation. His last thoughts before the eternal unconsciousness were on her, and how deeply he regretted actually trusting her beyond that moment. As darkness takes him, he vowed the revenge." And the other was Otium's: And here, in the sanctum sanctorum, there are three men who count the money, and there are the guards who watch and who bring money and take it away; and there is another person. His charcoal gray suit is immaculate, his hair is dark, he is cleanshaven, and his demeanour are, in every sense, forgettable. None of the other men has even observed that he is there, or if they have noticed him, they have forgotten him on the instant." "I was sneaking around in the Library.. once I got there." She placed the excerpts back in the box when Ice was finished. "I felt like.. I was led there but, hello, I was in a strange library. I didn't wanna get caught. So I was sneaking around and heard weird music. It was.. like an old movie. So I found this book that it sounded like it was coming from. It was all black and white and old. So I opened it and there was weird writing. Kinda like Greek but kinda not. Wren said his was different. So I read a little bit, cause it was weird that I could understand it, and then this crazy lime guy appeared and surprised the hell out of me. Have you met him?" "Lime guy?" Ice repeated. "The only one Patrick told me about was Wren. And I had to look him up at my work. I work for the Feien shop, and he owns a feien." She looked thoughtful for a moment. "Can you give me the address to this Library? I'd like to take Walter there sometime." Walter could feel Oblivion's mood, so he turned her and let her head for the metal objects, laughing as the scraping, squealing sound of metal against metal filled the air. "And you're sure there's nothing wrong with that?" She asked, motioning towards the daemon's snacking. "Oh I have two feien as well." Halo grinned. "Quite a handful. Oh yeah I can give you the mansion address.. But the Library is only found if the House WANTS you to find it." Halo walked over to desk against a wall and scribbled down the house address. "The Owner is Pippin. He's the lime guy. Real odd fellow but Wren and I have come to be friends with he and his wife... when she's around." Otium watched the rusty daemon and her giggling boy. Immaculate was feeling curious and the ball was not holding her interest so she started to follow, sniffing. Otium got up and followed too. "So after Pippin found me," she handed the address to Ice and sat back down, "he took me into his office and explained that the Library and House were odd and that the books weren't normal. He said that I wasn't supposed to have read that book but there was nothing to do about it now. He said I would have a child to take care of, and an animal, and I really didn't get much of a choice. I thought he was blowing my horn of course so I left the office and sure 'nuff.. there's Otium and Immaculate where I dropped the book." She shrugged a bit and played with one of her earrings. "Since then there's been weird things with the house.. but we're kind of in the dark as to what this is all about. I love my boys but I always feel like the sword of Damocles is hanging over our heads." Ice nodded. "I was worried..." She started out hesitantly. "That people from where he had come from would want him back. I kind of thought Patrick had stolen him, actually. But if they're all like that... then I guess I'm doing the right thing." She said. "But you're right. There has to be something that we don't know about. Like why books only from that library?" Walter looked over at the other forgotten and his daemon, babbling happily about how Oblivion really liked her metal things. Of course he didn't make a lick of sense, but he didn't realize that. He moved to offer the next piece of metal to them, but Oblivion chomped down before he could get to it. "No I think Patrick probably just stumbled into the Library like everyone else. Maybe, you know, with less than honorable intentions... but got Walter the same way. I don't know what the deal is with the House or the Library. I think Pippin doesn't know squat either. He's not the brightest bulb in the box." Halo watched the boys just to make sure they were fine. Otium was watching Oblivion curiously. "Metal isn't food." He said it softly so only Walter and Oblivion would hear. "I can't eat it." He shrugged. Immaculate tried to bite the end of a poker but found it wasn't to her tastes either. She did get close enough that Walter could touch her if he wanted. "All the kids seem to have unique abilities too. Otium can talk with spirits, I learned. And Mael.. well Mael is a venemous snake child. Walter show anything unusual.. other than the metal thing?" This time the hesitation was obvious. And Ice lowered her voice slightly, not wanting Walter to hear, as silly as it might sound. "Ever since I've gotten him I've been having these strange nightmares." She said slowly. "But he's such a chipper little guy that I wouldn't... I mean... I don't think it has anything to do with him..." But the frown on her face said otherwise. Walter tilted his head, then shrugged and babbled something else. Maybe it wasn't food for them or him, but Oblivion sure liked it! But to make up for Oblivion's rudeness he tugged a crumbly cookie out of his shirt, holding it out to the other boy. He had been saving this one. It only had a bit of a nibble bite on it! "Thank you.." Otium took it. He didn't really want it but he was being polite. He brushed it off a bit and split it in in half and gave the nibbled half to Immaculate who gobbled it without so much as chewing. Otium slipped it inside of his pocket and took off his hat. He reached inside (though it was empty) and pulled out a flat shiny gold coin. "For you. It's special." He offered it but held back a moment. "Not for food. Okay?" Halo frowned. "It.. could be him. I hope they aren't too bad. He'll grow fast. If it is him I think the only thing you can do is tough through it. Until he's old enough to control himself." Ice nodded. "Yeah... I mean if it IS him, I don't think he's conscious of it yet. And hey, you're not supposed to have a lot of sleep with a new baby, right?" She paused. "Can Otium control which spirits talk to him? Or does he have to deal with any that come near him?" Walter blinked, then grinned his perfect grin, taking the coin before Oblivion could grab it and sliding it into his shirt where the cookie had been. And Oblivion sighed in acceptance as her forgotten babbled a thank you. Otium smiled a little bit and patted Walter on the hat. He liked people in hats. They had style. "He doesn't talk much and not about that. I know he has mentioned specific ones but I have a feeling he sees whichever are around. SO if there are 30 he sees all 30. If there are 2, he'll see only two. I don't think it's really selective. I have no idea. One of the men who passed us.. he's gifted. He told me. I was surprised to say the least." Immaculate thought maybe Oblivion was in a good enough mood to let her sniff, so she did. She sniffed Walter all over and whatever of the robot daemon that was in reach. Best intentions! Really! Oblivion's eyes flickered red again, but Walter let out a giggle at the sniffing and patting, then petted the bearcat on the head. A little roughly, but not enough to hurt. He had been learning delicacy from chasing after the fairies that lived in his house. If he didn't he wound up hitting himself in the head when they landed there and flew away before he could grab them. Immaculate licked his cheek breifly, rough like a giant cat tongue. Otium patted Oblivion on the head and sat on the floor next to her. He reached into his hat and pulled out a tarnished chain he'd found on the ground. It looked like one of those necklaces the rappers wore, with a giant Jesus head pendant. Otium didn't really want it but thought it shouldn't be on the ground. He offered it to Oblivion to eat out of his hand. Like the petting zoo! "Otium also is monochrome, as you can see. As he's grown his eyes have gotten brighter blue, just a little, and when he's angry they get sort of.. firey. And he gets forgotten by anyone who isn't family or friends. It's really weird. I think he does it on purpose." Ice nodded. "He's gorgeous." She said honestly. She had white skin and hair, and didn't think a thing about not having color. "But it would be handy, being forgotten by choice, I would think. Does it do it to everyone outside of the family, or just certain people?" Oblivion's tongue was cold and steely as it took the coin from him. She chewed it twice, with that same metal against metal squeaking sound, then swallowed, her eyes going blue once again. And Walter laughed in delight. "Thanks.." Halo smiled. Otium was a gorgeous child. The only color you could see other than his eyes was the gold bracelet that hinted under his sleeve. It was a precious gift he'd gotten as a baby. "I think it's everyone. They will see him if I make him known, but then promptly forget him. It's irritating. I don't think he can control it yet. He's still young." Otium smiled and patted her on the head again. He was cold skinned so the tounge didn't bother him. He went searching in his hat for more useless metal for her. He found a wrench he'd found in the garage as a baby. It was new so it was very shiny. It had no value though. "Immaculate can't do anything like that. But she is cuddly right?" Immaculate was busy sniffing Oblivion's.... wheel... which looked really wrong from certain angles. "Then you'll have to remind me next time I see him." Ice said easily. "Walter and Oblivion look quite fond of them both. And Immaculate's so cute and cuddly." Ice said. "I have to admit, I love Oblivion, even if she is grumpy at times. But when I first got her I was worried her... scales would cut Walter when they slept together." Obviously that wasn't the case. Oblivion was torn between glowering at the bearcat and getting more treats from Otium. But her stomach spoke louder, so she took the wrench happily, only batting the bearcat in the head lightly with her tail. Walter twisted to pet the bearcat on the head again, as if apologizing for his Daemon. Immaculate was unphased by whatever the robot daemon seemed to dish out. Otium patted Oblivion on the head when she took the wrench but unfortunately he didn't seem to have anything else available for her to eat. "Sorry." He said it softly. "Otium, surprisingly, gets along with a lot of the children. I say I'm surprised because he was always a little shy and while he's gotten more bold as he's grown, he's still very quiet and weird about his personal space. I'm glad there are more children for him to know." Halo watched the boy's still and was very curious about the mechanical daemon. "I've never seen one like her. All the daemon's I have seen were.. animal. Or at least some sort of organic. They get more odd as time goes on. It's sort of scary to think what that Library is capable of dishing out." "Really?" Ice asked, slightly surprised. "I guess we'll have to meet more... um... daemons, did you call it?" She made another mental note. "I have to admit, we sort of picked her name out of the excerpt Patrick gave her. Patrick either didn't know or didn't care. But she answers to it. She also answers to the can opener." She added a bit dryly. "I'll admit, I'm used to working with machines and other metal things, so I guess I wasn't as shocked as I could have been." Oblivion sighed, but other than that didn't look too bothered. She did, however, turn to look at the bearcat with red eyes. Walter seemed far too familiar with the other forgotten for her taste! Of course the fact that she was being rather familiar with Otium didn't even occur to her. "You should meet more of the guardians. All of them, though to be honest I don't think I've met all of them. We have get together's every once in a while but your best bet is going to the house. Wren and I are good friends with a few of them and our kids have become friends. As much of friends as toddlers can be." She laughed a bit. Otium became distracted suddenly and turned his head to stare at something behind him but it seemed as if something was there. He tilted his head, very interested and mouthed words but not aloud. Halo pause, "I'm sorry.. just a sec." The woman whistled a bit, "Otium.. hey.. HEY.. Not when we have guests please?" The little boy took a minute before he acknowledged her and then nodded and turned back to the other kids. Walter's eyes got wide and he looked at the area behind Otium blankly. Was there something important there? He couldn't see anything... He babbled in a questioning tone, reaching out and waving his hand awkwardly through the air. And his eyes narrowed, as if by doing that he might be able to see what his new friend could. Oblivion shook her head imperceptibly, as if silently telling her forgotten not to worry about it. She couldn't see anything, either. "Now that I've got the address I'll be sure to do that." Ice agreed. She paused. "You know, if he really needs to talk to... um... whatever it is, we can come back later? I have some calls to make now, too." She said with a grin. "And my girls are probably worrying themselves sick over this. They love them both very much." She glanced over at Walter and Oblivion, a flash of worry crossing her face before she shrugged it off. "If his conversations are ever emergencies, he lets me know.. but I understand if you have things to do." Halo smiled in a friendly manner but she always felt kind of awkward without the comforting presence of her husband with strangers. Only once in a while. "You guys are free to come by whenever you'd like. Or perhaps I'll see you in the librarr, when you find it. You will by the way. At least you've been warned. None of the rest of us got that." The tall woman rose from her chair and looked over at the boys. Otium smiled at Walter and patted him on the hat to show it was nothing he should worry about. He also patted Oblivion and smiled. "I will find you foods. For when we meet again?" Immaculate licked Walter's cheek and then circled once before wandering in the direction whatever Otium had been 'speaking' to. Oblivion nodded and Walter said something cheerful sounding, grinning happily. He had a new friend! "Thank you." Ice said as she stood. "I appreciate everything. Really." She said as she scooped Walter up. "And we will see you again. Walter will miss his new friends, right?" Walter went serious, his eyes widening slightly as he looked from Otium and Immaculate to Halo. And he said something very knowledgeable sounding. Which was lost in translation, but sounded something like, "Mehheemaa baayaa." And was accented with a nod. "He says we'll be back." Ice translated loosely with a smile. "Um... I just go down that hall, right?" She asked. Otium waved once more before turning to follow his daemon to the shade he'd seen. Halo rose, "Yeah just down the hall. I'll show you out." She motioned with her arm and headed down the hall. "It was really nice to meet you. When Wren gets in I'll tell him and I'm sure in no time you'll meet him. He's good about those things. Walter should like Mael too. Both trouble makers." She opened the front door for the pair and ruffled Walter's hat a bit. "It was nice to meet you Walter! You're sure a cutie. Thanks for both coming by." Walter waved his hands and gave her a suddenly shy grin, leaning his head against Ice's shoulder and bringing his hand up to his face as he looked at her through his eyelashes. Ice glanced down at him, then shook her head. Silva was probably right. He WAS going to be a flirt. "Thanks for the information!" She said as she started away. Oblivion rolled along side her, squeaking once in a while. Ice glanced over her shoulder with a wave. "And we'll have to do that! Bye!"

A cool chill filled the air and Silva looked around, chewing on his toothpick for a long moment before he did anything. He was in the woods... at least, some woods. He didn't quite remember ever being here before. The chilled air tugged at his wings, trying to pull him away, but he ignored it, staring into the shadows of the trees for a long moment before he moved forward.
A sickeningly sweet smell drifted on the air, catching his nostrils and making them flare for a brief moment as he registered what it was. Blood. Ahead of him was something freshly killed, its lifeblood dripping slowly to the ground. He swore he could almost hear it. Drip by slow, steady drip, falling to a dead leaf lying on the dead grass.
He moved forward, making his way through the air silently, even as he could hear his own heart trying to beat harder. He didn't let it. Death was nothing he hadn't dealt with before.
The smell grew stronger, making his ears twitch and a cold uncertainty p***k at his spine. This wasn't making sense and it was starting to piss him off. How in the hell had he gotten to this place in the first place? He lived in the suburbs, for crying out loud. And--
He jerked to a halt as he came to a clearing, staring at the sight in front of him with no visible reaction at all. He had found the victim, he thought as he stared up at Ice's body. She was pinned to a tree, her arms high over her head, tied with blood soaked rope. Her body was covered barely in tattered, bloodstained rags, her head was hanging down.
"Silva..." She whispered hoarsely, almost making him jump. "Silva... I'm... sorry..." She looked up, ever so slowly, as if the very movement sapped at what little energy she had left. "I... always... loved you."
The head dropped and she breathed out one single last time before her entire body went still. Silva jerked as his heart pounded against his chest once. Then stopped completely.
His small, lifeless body fell slowly to the ground, the wind tugging at his wings and pulling him with ********!" Silva bellowed as he jerked awake, staring blindly at the room in front of him. He was on his stuffed tiger bed on the backboard of Ice's bed, and he was still alive.
Someone sniffled from the bed before the sniffling turned to wails of an unhappy baby. Silva glanced down at Walter lying there, crying his head off dispassionately, even as the door of the room burst open and Ice came in.
"Oh, baby, what's the matter?" She asked as she scooped up her forgotten. Oblivion looked up from where she was still on the bed, her eyes gleaming red from her reaction to Walter's tears. "Silva! Did you wake Walter?"
"Probably." Silva drawled, trying to slow down his breathing. His heart was still trying to beat hard against his chest. The look he sent the kid in her arms was not very nice, to say the least. He had the nightmare and the kid got the cuddling? That was bullshit, if he had ever heard it. Not that he would cuddle even if she offered, but dammit--
Walter turned, his tear filled eyes focusing on the red feien for a long moment before he laid his head on Ice's shoulder, listening silently to the beating of her heart.

Ice sighed and shoved her hair back from her face, feeling as if a thousand pounds were on her shoulders. She hadn't slept well for the past month. Nightmare after nightmare haunted her dreams, and the worst part was that the entire family was having the same problem.
She stumbled to the kitchen with Walter on her hip and Oblivion at her side. She headed for the fridge, opening it and digging out something to eat even as Walter babbled happily. How the little squirt could be so happy after such a rough night, she had no idea.
Jade came in a few seconds later, taking Walter from her and heading for the table, where she put him in his booster seat, sat in her own seat, and promptly fell asleep at the table.
Ice grabbed the milk, a thing of hotdogs, and mustard. Then she stopped. "Breakfast..." She muttered. She grabbed a thing of grapes, as well.
She put the entire thing of hotdogs in the microwave and forgot to push start before she headed for the table and promptly fell asleep.
Walter watched them both, speaking baby talk to his daemon to explain that they were asleep and he didn't want to be stuck where he was. Then he slipped out of the booster seat, landing on Oblivion's back.
Soon the two were wheeling away, leaving the two sleeping ladies behind them. They scooted the back door open and bumped their way down the stairs to the back patio. <********!" The word ripped through the air, making Walter giggle happily as he glanced up at the feien lying on the porch table. "I can't even get sleep out here." Silva muttered.
"It is morning, you know." Aleric said calmly as he sat up in his spot next to Silva. They had stopped sleeping in the house a week before, but even then it wasn't working very well. Even the ancient was a little grumpy from lack of sleep.
"Wha?" Soho asked as she peeked out of the dirt filled potted plant. "Oh, hi, Walter! Are you going somewhere?"
Walter babbled a cheerful explanation that made no sense, but Soho nodded and made agreeing sounds.
"You're kidding me, right?" Silva asked as he chewed on his toothpick.
"He's going exploring!" Soho told him
"Tell him to not come back." Silva muttered coldly as he laud back down.
"Silva." Aleric said warningly.
"Dammit." Silva muttered as he got to his feet and motioned for Soho. "Lead him inside, darlin'."
"But he wants to go exploring, Silva." Soho said with a pout. "He's already been everywhere inside!"
"He's a baby." Silva drawled. "All they do is piss their pants and drool on things. So get him back inside, because I'm sure as hell not changing him."
"But Siillllvaaaa!" Soho wailed, giving him her best puppy dog ******** me for an idiot..." Silva growled. "Fine. But we're not leaving the block, got it?"
"Oh thank you, thank you, thank you!" She said, throwing herself at him and kissing him full on the lips. One white eyebrow went up at this move, but he didn't say anything.
"Then shall we?" Aleric asked as he let out a yawn and took to the air.
"Ice is going to kill me." Silva said. "But it should be interesting. Hell, why not?"
"Come on, Walter! Let's go explore!" Soho said cheerfully.
Walter laughed in delight, kicking his heels into Oblivion's side to get his daemon moving. They were going exploring!

It was only twenty minutes into the exploration, but Silva was already getting a headache the size of a horse. That might seem impossible considering he was only a little over eight inches tall, but it was happening. He cursed and moved to block Oblivion from taking another bite out of the lamppost.
"Not gonna happen, darlin'." He told her, holding out his arms. "If that falls it'll kill you and Ice'll kill me. Here, why don't you try the stop sign instead?"
Oblivion's eyes narrowed, glowing red, but she turned as he ordered, heading for the sign and taking a chomp out of the post that held it. It fell to the side easily, and her eyes went blue again as she started to munch. Walter cocked his head and watched curiously as she finished it off.
Seeing as she was happy with her snack he laughed and complimented the feien in baby talk, kicking his little heels in the air as he did so. The little flying thing was looking out for his daemon! That was a good thing!
"Hey! Hey, you!" Everyone jerked as they caught sight of a tall man in blue heading towards them. "You can't eat that! You--" He paled as he suddenly realized what was happening. "Where are your parents?" He demanded.
"Great. The cops." Silva muttered. His headache tripled in size.
"Hello Mr. Police Officer!" Soho said cheerfully. "Oblvion's having a snack!"
"But it's a stop sign." The police officer said in irritation. "Why isn't that... thing... eating something normal? That's against the law!"
"But she's just a baby, she doesn't know any better!"
"I'm afraid I'm going to have to take you all in." The police officer said, calling in for backup, simply because he didn't want to mess with the metal thing on his own. "And we'll get ahold of his parents."
"His parent." Silva replied, chewing on his toothpick in his irritation. "And she's out of it right now. But hell, if you want to drag her off to jail for falling asleep when she was supposed to be taking care of the brat, go ahead."
"Silva." Aleric said warningly. Silva almost replied, but was distracted by another cop car showing up, pulling over to the curb as the cop came out with a wire on a stick to catch a wild animal. Oblivion's eyes went red again and she wheeled around, the stop sign still hanging from her lips and scraping against the concrete, sparking as she went. Walter let out a shout of joy and grabbed onto her tightly, leaning forward to be more streamlined. They were making a break for it!
And then a second car blocked them in, leaving Oblivion to put on the breaks quickly. Her wheeled back in spun out on her and she went crashing into the car, barely avoiding hurting Walter.
"Gotcha." The cop in the car in front of them said, picking them both up and dropping them into the back seat of the car. "We'll get ahold of your mommy just as soon as possible, kids. So don't worry."
Walter squirmed, moving to the window and staring out, waving silently to the three feien still talking to the other cop. It looked as if he and Oblivion were going on a trip!
Silva cursed and almost dropped his toothpick as he caught sight of the brat being hauled off to jail. "Great. I thought he'd wait till he was a teen to do that." He muttered before chasing after the car, leaving Aleric and Soho to explain. Who knows what a metal eating Daemon would do in a police station! *********************
The sight of a baby and a metal monster wasn't so ultimately shocking in the Gaia police station. A lot of strange things happened in Gaia. But the sight of that metal monster determinedly guarding a half-eaten stop sign was a bit of a shocker.
"Now, sweetie..." A female cop said, crouching down in front of the two. "Don't you think that's a little dangerous?" The glowing red eyes flashed, and she moved back again, rubbing her temple. "Has anyone found his parents yet?" She demanded.
"I told you, she's asleep." Silva said. The feien was sitting on her desk, looking comfortable as he took another bite of the donut he had stolen from the box.
"And you!" The cop said, turning on him. "What ARE you?" He pissed her off, too. He had the look of a cold blooded criminal in his eyes, but she had never seen one that small before.
"Feien." He told her, finishing off the bite and taking another. "I'm not supposed to be seen in public."
"Then why don't you get lost?"
"Can't. The kid's my responsibility for the moment." He winced as Oblivion took another bite out of the metal pole. But it was the sight of Walter nodding off on top of a cop coat that really made him worry. "That's probably not a good thing..." He muttered, taking to the air and going over to the kid to try and wake him up.
Walter didn't even budge as Silva dropped on his head, just slept on peacefully, his little body warm, his excitement taking its toll on him. "C'mon, kid. Last thing we want is a bunch of cops having nightmares..." Silva muttered, nudging the boy's ear with his foot. There was no response. But something was happening.
Silva cursed and took to the air again, looking at both Walter and Oblivion as they started to grow. "Now is NOT the time--" Silva cursed and fell silent again as the baby's shirt strained and ripped at the seams.
Walter woke as his buttons popped, feeling uncomfortable all of a sudden. He reached up, rubbing his eyes sleepily and looking around. After a second of blinking he turned and looked at the cop. "Where's Mommy?" He asked as clear as can be.
"Oh um--" The woman didn't know what to say, especially since the little boy was no half naked. "We're trying to find her."
"Oh." He said before standing and toddling over to her. "Hold me?"
She blinked, but obligingly pulled him onto her lap, not even thinking about the way he leaned his little head against her chest and sighed happily.
Oblivion's now much longer tail flicked once before she went back to eating her well deserved stop sign.

They were getting a new family member. Yet another sister, Walter thought as he sat on the couch, watching Josiah setting up the entertainment center in the basement room. He already had two big sisters, and Ice had said this one would be older than he was, as well. It kinda sucked.
He kicked his legs against the couch, ignoring the sounds of Oblivion eating a socket wrench she had stolen from the tool box. Josiah had very casually moved the aforementioned box to a shelf after noticing what she had done. Walter liked Josiah. The big blue man always did things casually, and didn't talk too much. Well, except when his bad luck kicked in, Walter added silently as the dou cursed under his breath.
"I don't think I want another sister." Walter said after debating on it for a long moment. "She'll probably try to make me eat green things, too."
Josiah stayed silent, as if thinking deeply on the matter while he blew on his singed fingers. "You should be grateful that Ice willingly takes in strays." The large pirate man told him after the silence seemed to dominate.
"I'm not a stray!" Walter protested. "I'm her kid."
"You were once a stray." Josiah replied. As had he been, he thought silently. She had taken him and his dog in, letting them live in the attic while he worked as their repair man. It wasn't a bad life by any means, especially for such a perverted doushikai such as himself.
"I was?" He asked, looking at Oblivion. "Oh, right... Patrick!"
"Yes, Patrick." Josiah agreed.
"I haven't seen him in FOREVER." Walter exaggerated. "Not since I was a baby!" He kicked his feet, feeling vastly superior to his baby self. "I miss him..."
Josiah stayed silent, finishing up his work and going to work on the shelving next. His luck had been a little better lately, but he wasn't going to test that theory unless he had to. In other words, he was being very careful with the nail and hammer.
"You think she'll be cute?" Walter asked.
Josiah hit his thumb with the hammer.
'Ice is back.' Oblivion said as she finished off the wrench. 'I can smell the car.'
"Oh. Then let's go check her out." Walter replied, hopping to his feet and heading for the stairs. He had completely forgotten his misgivings about having another big sister.
[Taken from Kitsumai's Journal] Fear. It coated her tongue with a bitter taste and tried to climb up her throat. Fear. She hadn't thought she would be afraid, getting a new family, but she had dreamed of it for so long, and now that it was happening she was scared that it might fall apart in front of her eyes.
Her hands tightened on the pure white hand that clasped hers, and she looked up at the strange woman she was supposed to call mother. Well, not call. She couldn't speak, she had tried, but it had never worked. And this woman, this Ice, what would she say when she realized that her newest daughter didn't talk? Couldn't talk?
Would she get sent back to the orphanage? She hated the thought, even though she knew she would miss the friends she had made there. She just--
"Are you ready?" Ice asked, looking down at the little girl with a grin. "I should warn you, it's going to be a bit hectic in there. Once your new sisters found out you were coming they started moving to the basement so you could have their room. Oh, don't worry, we made Josiah renovate it, so they'll be nice and comfortable down there." She reached out, brushing the hair from Kitsu's cheek. "Smile, baby, I promise everything's going to be just fine."
"Mamaa!!" A young boy's voice called as the front door opened. A young blonde boy came tumbling out the door, his metal daemon following behind him with a slight squeak. "Mama, is she here yet?" He demanded as he walked to them, stopping in front of Kitsu and looking up at her for a long moment before grinning. "Hi!"
"Walter, this is your newest sister, Kitsumai." Ice told the boy. "Kitsumai, this is Walter and Oblivion. They'll be in the room across from yours."
"She eats metal." Walter said, jabbing a thumb at Oblivion. "Want a cookie?" He asked, pulling one out of his white shirt and offering it to Kitsu. Kitsu smiled, still hesitating slightly as she took the cookie and nibbled at it.
"Oblivion?" Ice asked the metal dragon rather than Walter, "Sugar, do you think you could... help Walter show Kitsu to her room?" She asked, obviously putting more trust in the daemon than in the boy.
Oblivion's tail flicked and she turned, heading for the door with laborous steps, her bicycle wheel squeaking slightly behind her as she took the front porch steps. Walter had to hurry to get the door for both daemon and taur.
Ice headed for the car then, grabbing the almost empty box of things that Kitsu had brought with her. She made a mental list of all the things the little girl would need, not bothered one bit by what the people at the orphanage had told her. Kitsumai was a mute. But then again, so was Kisa, one of her adult daughters. She wondered how Kitsumai would take to that.
Kitsumai looked around the slightly small house, wondering how so many people seemed to live comfortably there. She could hear them, all talking and moving, bustling around as if it were a war. Music blared through the air, something fast and wild, almost making the poor taur cover her ears with her hands. This was NOT what she was used to!
"Kisa!! Did you get--," A green haired female in white sweat pants and a green t-shirt asked as she came down the hall from the bedroom, a large box in her arms. She almost ran poor Kitsumai over before she jerked to a halt, almost dropping the box in her excitement. "You're here!!" She said, putting the box on the ground beside her and hauling her into a hug. "You're so CUTE! Kisa!! Kisa come see our little sister!!"
Walter grinned, munching on yet another cookie as he watched Kitsu's reaction. For a second the little taur looked stunned, then she very gamely hugged the taller female back, having missed this sort of reaction more keenly than she liked to admit.
She didn't even notice the second female until a gentle hand dropped on her horse half, stroking the muscular shoulder. Kitsu jerked, turning to look at the tiger woman with a slightly surprised look. A grin lit Kisa's face as Jade let go, and she reached forward, hugging Kitsumai as well.
Kitsu looked up at her, taking in the sharp, exotic face of the white and black striped female, slowly hugging her back. These were her sisters?
"Kisa doesn't speak." Jade said, peeking around her sister at Kitsu. "But she's very good at making her point understood. Now! Let's show you your room!"
It was as if her heart stopped for a moment. Kitsumai looked up at the strong, confident looking female dressed in a black t-shirt and baggy jeans, noting the slight smile on her face, and the smooth, easy movements she made. This was another mute? It was... it was--
Her hand was tugged and she looked down at Walter, shocked out of her moment of hero worship and into a smile as she noticed crumbs on his face. "C'mon, your room's this way." He told her, tugging her towards the hall. "Jade already headed that way."
Kitsu nodded, smiling finally as she was pulled to the room. It looked as if it had been gutted recently, things lying around the floor, clothes of all colors and types. Jade stood in the middle of the room, looking sheepish. "We weren't sure when you would get here." She admitted, smiling at Kitsu. "So we moved a little slow I'm afraid."
Kitsu shook her head, waving her hand to say it was alright. She didn't mind them not being completely ready. In fact she felt a little guilty at taking their room in the first place. But by the way the two had greeted her, she didn't think they minded very much.
"Hey..." Walter said, tugging her hand again. "You got the cool room. See, you can see the front yard out this window, and all the cars coming by. They still haven't fixed the stop sign 'Blivion ate." He added cheerfully as tires squealed in the distance.
Kitsu winced at the sound, worried about whoever was in the car before she turned back to her room. It was warmer than her old room had been, a soft green color with purple accents. She preferred white with her purples, but considering who had lived there before, she guessed she couldn't complain.
This was her home, she thought, feeling a little thrown. And if they accepted one mute, surely, surely they wouldn't turn her away, right?
"So... you like it?" Walter asked, looking up at her with an angelic grin.
Kitsu hesitated, then reached out, brushing the crumbs off of his face as she nodded.
"Gonna say something?" He asked, cocking his head.
"Kitsumai doesn't speak." Ice said from the doorway, the almost empty box in her hands. It startled Kitsumai, who looked at her questioningly. "Relax, baby, they told me that before I ever met you. Which is why I got a gift for you and Kisa." She added as she put the box down in the corner. She dug a small book out of her back pocket, handing it to the girl. "American Sign Language." She said, just in case the little one couldn't read as well as she should have been able to.
Kitsu nodded, smiling slowly before she clasped the book to her chest. It was a way to communicate quickly, she thought, and it was hers! This, she thought as she looked around the wild, unruly household that she found herself in, was going to be her home.
"We'll all have to learn it." Ice said. "But I think we'll manage, don't you, Kitsu baby?"
Kitsumai nodded, sure that her new guardian was right.
