Laer stayed on the couch, allowing Mel a moment to look at the pictures on her own. He probably should have warned her about 'Alwen before ... well, there was no turning back now.
"The young woman with raven hair and that shock of green is Minuialwen, the one with emerald hair is Tawariell," he replied. "I wouldn't worry about them, Mel. They're well-adjusted, and they're able to handle things better than you'd think. As I said, there should be no hard feelings."
He stood and wandered over to the table, his gray eyes moving over the pictures that cataloged the twins' growth before he leaned over to pull out a large, black, leather-bound album, one of three, and thumbed through the pages. "Here, this is my favorite album," he said, closing it and holding it out to her. It was more of a scrapbook, it had a page for every month almost, since the girls grew so quickly. "It'll catch you up on things."

"She looks just like her..Minuialwen.."
She felt the air escape her lungs, causing problems with her breathing for a moment. Looking away, she takes in a few deep breaths. She knew she was over Lenore, but she wasn't expecting this at all. Her own daughter look like her wife.
Looking down at the album, she runs her fingers over the cover before taking it into her arms. Holding it close, she nods before she looks back down at the ground for a moment "Could you sit with me, maybe hold me while I look at this?"

Laermeluion put his arm around Mel as he looked down at the picture she'd been looking at. "I ... probably should have warned you. I'm sorry, I hadn't meant to spring anything on you," he started, giving her shoulders a little squeeze as his brow furrowed in concern.
"Don't worry, I'm here for you," he added. "And, I'll answer any questions you have. Take all the time you need."

With a nod, she moves towards the couch once more. Pulling her legs under her bottom, she slowly opens the album, her eyes moving over each image picture. She pauses as she finds a picture of the girls playing with Damien. Looking up, her mouth opens before closing again.
Taking a slow deep breath, she finally looks back down "How did Damien handle it? I mean, knowing he had sisters he had to take care of?"

He joined her on the couch once more before he thought of the best way to answer her question.
Finally, he took a deep breath and decided to start from the beginning. "He was the last one to see Lenore alive," he started, deciding it was better not to tell Mel about Lenore's mental state toward the end. "He and his ex girlfriend, Laerwen, found her leaning against a tree, holding the twins in her arms. Laerwen tried to help her, but Lenore just told Damien that he needed to take the girls back home. Before she left, though, she gave 'Alwen her ring, the one that kept her from burning to ash in the sun, you know? She knew that 'Alwen was going to need it...."
He paused a moment, thinking about where to go from there. "Anyway, Damien made it home first, Laerwen and his other friend arrived with the girls a few days after Lenore was found dead. So, he and, believe it or not, Laerwen were a big help in the beginning. Laerwen has resumed her travels, but I'm sure she'll pop up sometime in the future. However, he took it pretty well. Honestly, they're the reason we've gotten on as well as we have.... They've kept us busy," he ended, a fond smile on his lips.
