Colette had accepted and pocketed the small green token with a "thank you" and awaited further instructions from the Professor. The slam on his desk seemed unnecessary to her, but she ignored it and listened. She made sure to pay attention to what Malcom was saying, the Reaper didn't really have any cooking experience, but she at least listened to instructions well. The personal list "sweeteners, binder, acid, grass, stuff" was repeated in her mind over and over in attempt to remember everything.

When it was time to begin, Colette placed her saucepan on the stove and turned it to "low heat," then scooped out the Fear mixture into her measuring cup. She poured the contents into the saucepan and stirred, using her clean hand and saving the mixture-covered one for other ingredients. Referring to the list she had tried to remember, Colette looked at the sweeteners and picked out Honey; Maple Syrup; and Heavy Corn Syrup, then added them in one by one. There was absolutely no strategy to her selection other than hope that they wouldn't clash.

Binders were next, and Colette looked at them without a clue as to what would be best. Ultimately, she picked Water, noticing the sweeteners she used were pretty slow and sticky, and grabbed Butter Milk to use too. Maybe it would even it out or something?

After adding the binders in, she looked at the acids and hadn't a clue what anything other than the lemon was. It wouldn't make sense to give Dasher something that was unknown to her, so Colette chose the fruit and squeezed some lemon juice into the mixture. Grass was next. This wasn't so bad! Gripping the grass she brought, Colette was surprised Dasher wasn't already poking his nose around and added it in. When they were quiet was the time to worry, but she didn't yet know that - he was still examining Glop.

She filled everything on the list out, all but "stuff" anyway, and Colette looked at the extra ingredients to give it flare. The citrus smelled nice, so Colette added in Crushed Mixed Citrus Flowers, hoping Dasher would enjoy it too. The ghoul knew for certain to turn the candy green though, and she stirred blue and yellow food coloring together into the mixture. Dasher did always want to eat green things, and now it was time to test it. Colette dropped some into water and removed it with her clean hand, noticing its firm hardness. She tried to form it into a simple ball before flattening a side and adding a decorative touch and, finding it now suitable for Dasher, Colette placed it on the floor for him with no doubt he would come. "Daaaasher~ I have a treat for you." she called softly, watching him look at the sound of his name and strut over to eat. She had either missed or ignored the fact he nearly tried to eat Glop, but either way, she wouldn't want Barth to find out and possibly get mad at her. She knew she wouldn't be happy if something tried to eat Dasher!

The Reindeer smelled the wonderful citrus scent and ate the green treat, convinced by its color that it must taste good. He was indifferent to hardness and shape, but it tasted suitable and that was all he cared about! Though, the Fear Candy was nothing compared to the candy he ate that Professor Malcom had given him.

"Thank you," Barth said, receiving the token, but at the next assignment squeaked, "Er, cooking, sir?"

The last time Barth had tried to cook something, it had ended up all over his apartment, broken a window, and started a murder investigation. Barth did not cook very often. If he was honest, he did not do anything very often. But things would probably not end up as a monstrous disaster. What were the odds? He settled warily in for the instructions.

They were not as simple as he might have hoped.

Still. To start things off, he just needed to turn the stovetop on. That was manageable. Stove on, check. Now what was the rest of it again? Sweeteners, binders, acids. He looked at the collection of neatly-labeled ingredients. Other members of his group were already picking and choosing.

Glop seemed happy about the process, Barth thought. It had wandered over after Dasher had left and was sucking on the toe of Barth's boot. He had brought the icky stix because the granulated sugar didn't take eons for Glop to digest. With great precision, he added what Riley hadn't eaten already, colorful paper straws and all, together with the Fear mixture.

In went the honey and heavy corn syrup, because they were goopy. A stick of salted butter joined them with a thunk. Glop would eat anything. How much of each had the teacher said to add? More binders, right? He added water too. For the acid, he skipped out on the lemon juice. More work and squeezing, no thanks. The White Distilled Vinegar joined the rest of the already-questionable mixture. Two more ingredient categories loomed to the side of the pot. Hadn't the professor said color was optional? But that left...

"Err," Barth said nervously. The bubbling was good, right? And the frothing. His pot, whose temperature had been way too high, boiled over, slopping onto the stovestop and surrounding equipment before dribbling onto the floor. Barth leaned back helplessly as a noxious rope of cooking syrup splattered onto the front of his shirt, pants, and jacket. "Sir? ...Err, Colette? Lilith?" Barth started, uneasily. Could he walk away? He just had to add a scent, didn't he? Any of the scents, and it would be over.

With the slow desperation of someone trying to defuse a bomb, he reached for the Crushed Lavender.

Picking it up with his claws proved to be a mistake.

As soon as the smell hit him, his already low constitution took a hit. The world spun in a heavy, overwhelming way, and the smell went straight to his head. It was like the Sloth demon equivalent of chloroform.

He didn't get to add the scent. He slumped forward onto the stove, completely knocked out. The cooking pan overturned with a splat. Unfortunately, the heat was still on. Barth's coat sleeve, too close to the eye, began to smoke.

The result of the cooking had ended up...well, everywhere.. Glop slid over to the floor mess and hovered on top of the puddle, making bubbling sounds. As it sucked up part of the mess, the drops congealed inside the blob, hovering baffingly inside its body.

The good news was that boogeymen would probably not have to be contacted, and that no windows had been nearby. The bad news was that Barth was knocked out, covered in fear-infused syrup, and catching fire.

All right then, Sin paid close attention to the professor and slid her green token into safety. She knew that Pantaloons would want something crunchy so she decided to try and make a good hard treat. She eyed the sweeteners that could be used and then decided to use them all, if it was candy it might as well be sweet.

Sin sprinkled in Granulated Sugar, Brown Sugar, Honey, Light Corn Syrup, Heavy Corn Syrup, and Maple Syrup. She mixed it and noted that her batch so far was dark, sticky, and very very thick.

Now she needed her binders, she ignored the water wanting to keep the mixture thick and added butter milk she didn't add anything salted, again if she was going for sweet she might as well go all out. She included some of the heavy cream and the stirred the batch was really getting thicker though she could feel it's resistance to the spoon.

Next up were the acids hmm...Sin wasn't sure which to use, what would go well with sweetness? Both vinegar and cream of tartar seemed to strong so she sliced a lemon and squeezed in about a tabespoon of fresh lemon juice. She proceeded with her stirring and smiled at the thick mixture then looked at Pantaloons.

"Hmm I suppose you'd like a little Lavender in here hmmm?" She sprinkled in a little hoping it would soothe and calm her minipet. With that done she glanced at the colors and smiled. She added a few drops of red food coloring, it looked dark in the mixture but hopefully since she had been sparring the color would be more pink. Then she took the black food coloring and set it aside. She sprinkled in the final special ingredient for Pantaloons crunchy crickets and then stirred, and stirred, and stirred.

She smiled and turned the heat off before spooning up the thick mixture, heavy ropes hung to her spoon and barely wanted to come off. She had to whack the spoon a few times to get it to release the mix into the water infact. She waited a few moments and then started to separate the candy mixture into fifteen even sized balls. She rolled them and started to feel them hardening. Quickly Sin started to pinch them into heart shapes and set them aside.

Now Pantaloons was curious, pink hearts? Those were his favorite! He waddled over and tried to grab one. Sin quickly used her spiked arm to push him back. "Hey wait until I'm done!" She scolded the unmentionable, the last two came out a little less heart shaped due to her rhythm being lost. The took the black food coloring and used a toothpick to draw a jagged little broken line down the center of each heart. There now the candy was done, she turned and scowled as she saw Pantaloons shoving the first one into his mouth! He chomped and crunched on it happily and was reaching for a second with his mouth still full.

Sin turned away from Pantaloons and his crunching and munching just in time to see Barth fall, the pot overturned, he was...smoking? "Barth!? Professor!" Sin called and wished she had her oven mitts, she wanted to help Barth but...what if she singed her hands or something? She rushed over though and tapped at his arm with her foot to try and help. The sticky hot mess clung to her boot though and she cringed. Ugh gross, these were designer too! Still...she couldn't just leave Barth so she grabbed her water (there were still a few hardened droplets of candy in there) and splashed it onto him.

Listening to the instructions, Alcie wasn't exactly sure about how to make this but she was just going to go off of her gut. She knew what Eri liked... for the most part considering how much time they had spent together. Though she wasn't sure if she could create something from scratch. It shouldn't be that difficult, right? Looking around at the ingredients, she tried to formulate some kind of recipe. Boy, her mother would get a good kick out of this if she was here...

Turning on the stove to low heat, she placed her saucepan and scooped the amount of Fear mixture that the professor had told them to into the pot. She used the spoon to stir as she looked at all of the ingredients trying to determine what kind of Fear Candy she wanted to make.

First, Alcie grabbed some honey and placed it into the saucepan. It was sweet but not overpowering. She also decided to throw in some light corn syrup and another addition of honey. She didn't want to have too many different sweeteners and it seemed like three was a good amount. Hm. As she continued stirring, she realized how viscous the mixture was getting. Oh dear, it was getting more and more difficult to stir. Thinking fast, Alcie decided to throw in three cups of water. Relaxing slightly as the mixture diluted, she continued to survey the ingredients. So far, the candy was turning out to be rather sweet.

For acidity, she didn't want anything too overpowering so she decided squeeze the lemon for some lemon juice and that was enough for acidity. And now for the scent, Alcie took awhile to pick one because she was definitely unsure about which one Eri would like. The three sounded very appealing but she decided to go with crushed lavendar. Eri seemed to really enjoy taking his time and stopping to smell the flowers (literally) so she guessed that he might like that. Also, Alcie grabbed the blue food coloring and a touch of white and dropped it inside of the saucepan. This, she knew for a fact was Eri's favorite color.

She continued to stir the saucepan dutifully and there was one last thing that she needed to add. Eri's favorite treat just so happened to be white cherries. Strangely enough, Alcie had discovered this when her mother had shipped some her way earlier in the year. He seemed to wolf down the cherries like no tomorrow. And here was the problem... she could either squeeze the cherries for the juice or finely chop them into pieces and stir them into the mixture. Using the juice would give it more flavor but exactly how many cherries would she need to add? She would take her chances so she just grabbed the cherries and squeezed over the saucepan. Surprisingly, she managed to get quite a bit of juice and decided to stop.

Spooning out the mixture into about 16 globs, Alcie dropped them one by one into the water and spooned them out. They managed to form a firm texture when she laid them out to air. Looking at them, they smelled rather flowery and sweet. Quickly before they could harden, Alcie shaped them into water droplets. "Here you go Eri!" The wishing comet seemed thrilled as he smelled the treats curiously and he seemed happy as he was eating them.

She was so wrapped up with what she was doing that she barely realized that Barth was in trouble. Alcie only managed to look up when she realized Sin had said something. "Be careful Sin!" Rushing over to the two students, Alcie tried to think about what she should do. Didn't the professor say that these stoves didn't use fire right yet Barth's sleeve was definitely starting to smoke. The water demon disliked fire and heat very much but she managed to quickly turn off Barth's stove. Sighing in relief, Alcie tried to step away from the mess but then realized that Barth's concoction was all over her long, flowy skirt. Well... another pair of shoes and skirt ruined. Oh well. That just meant more shopping time with Sin.

At Sin's call, he had rushed over to see what all the commotion was about, although he could smell the smoke long before he reached the fallen student. He raised an eye brow before stepping on the now wet and sizzling fabric that was Barth's sleeve with his bare foot.

"You managed to catch fire when I specifically asked the school for stoves that don't use fire?" It was hard to tell if the Professor was impressed, or on the verge of face palming. Probably a little bit of both. It was a good thing he wasn't particularly offended by the... Results of the Sloth Demon's cooking under his feet. He was, however, not pleased at the fact that the floor was dirty and affecting the other students.

"Stay back after class," He pointed at Barth, addressing him before narrowing his eyes, giving him a look that basically said 'or else'.

Barth was still knocked out, and still gunky, but the girls had swooped in just in the nick of time. Whenever he woke up, he would be very grateful that they had kept him from burning to death, but less than grateful for the detention.

Barth was an old school sort of demon, and therefore not as opposed to fire and brimstone as one might think. He just did not appreciate being actually on fire. Also, he kept having incidents with near-death boiling experiences.

And cooking.

Why did it have to be cooking.

He'd have to keep the effects of lavender on himself to himself. Really, though, it was just one substance in a long list of substances that had the ability to incapacitate him.

As Dasher chewed away on his treat, Colette continued to lean under the table and watched happily, ignoring most of what was going on. Ignored it up until there was a splash of brown and Barth had said her name, anyway. There was the collapsing on the table that had alarmed her too of course. When Colette hurriedly sat up to check on the boil, she hit her head clean against the under-table and let out a brief, "Ow!" in the process and then clenched her teeth, taking a moment with herself to recover for the little accident.

Jack damn it, that hurt. While she rubbed the back of her head, Colette finally sat up from under the table, embarrassed but more preoccupied by the fact Barth was unconscious. The sight of her shoes now dirty with.. whatever this brown stuff is.. was not a pleasing either, but that's sort of what shoes were for, and they could be cleaned. It wasn't a big deal to her. At least the good thing was that the Professor was there and any more hazards seemed to be taken care of.

Worried about her Sloth Demon friend, Colette looked from him to Professor Malcom. "Professor, what do we do?" she asked. She wasn't sure if he noticed the boil was knocked out, but he'd find out soon enough. It wasn't exactly hard to get after a minute.

Getting up and moving over to Barth, Colette tried to sit him up and looked for napkins or something - anything to get him from the terrible, slumped and dirty state he was in now. He couldn't just be left like that. Barth was heavy though, and all she could do was move him from leaning on the dirty table to slumping against his chair's back. At least it sort of supported him, and Colette tried to keep him from falling out of the chair.

"Do we have napkins or something?" she asked. Colette hoped they did. Who cooked without having some sort of towel ready?!
