CLINK As the glasses connected and the soft chime pierced through the air Acacia lifted her canter towards her lips and sipped on the honey tinted liquid with a graceful elegant poise that seemed to reflect her socialite upbringing. The light-haired woman beamed a sweet grin that was nearly as pleasant as the taste of the wine they were sharing with the sip depleted from her lips the slender built woman exhaled in a slow drama sigh. “Ha, if you could taste all of that in a wine you would be famous critic by now Tambrey,” Acacia chuckled against her exposed wrist at both bits of banter; hers and her dark-haired friend's. “Getting drunk at a vineyard isn't a good idea I think they kick you for that sort of thing.” Once again the white-haired grunt snickered then drew her glass to her lips again and sipped on the sweet, mellow elixir of grapes as she reclined and collected her thoughts before speaking again. Her manner was almost professional for a nuance of a moment, shaking her head slightly the thin framed woman roused herself from her mental musings. “Team Rocket isn't the worse place we could be, I could still be at a stuffy university being forced into a profession that I didn't like. To me the organization is a new beginning to be myself,” grinning from ear to ear the mediocre medical grunt ran her fingers through the back of her hair, well-polished fingertips comfortingly uplifting the short messy tresses of white she found there. “Even so, I can't help but be nervous. But I guess that is normal, it kinda is a relief hearing you say you get nervous too. Makes me feel way less awkward.” Lowering her glass to the table Acacia cleared her throat as she once again felt a small blush easing up her neck and beginning to settle into her pale cheeks. “So, ask me a question Tamie. I promise to be truthful.” (Edits have been made due to character alterations. Please forgive the disruption.)

Tambrey smirked at the comment, tilting her head to the left after drinking a sip of the wine herself. “Mmm.” Came the bookish grunt's approval of the amber drink, before she considered Acacia's joke “Ya know, I think wine critics must only be famous in, uh, certain circles and crowds; I honestly cannot name a single one.” She admitted, though for once she was lacking a blush, figuring it wasn't such an unusual piece of knowledge to be lacking. Wine critics, high class cuisine and the like were not things that ever got much of a mention in her family's household.
She giggled a little as her friend mentioned the consequences of being drunk at a vineyward. “Oh, I've no doubt, but they kick you out of most everywhere for such a thing; I bet it'd still be worth the fun.”
Tam' listened then, nodding a little; her grin widened as Acacia mentioned a 'stuffy university' and her eyes twinkled slightly. “Universities just don't get it either... It's all so stiff, with such stubborn, restrictive boundaries. No freedom for real work.” She sighed a little, swirling the wine around the glass. “A new beginning; yes, it's a good way to treat this place... Different world.” She smiled again, trying to offer another toast with a lifted glass. “Here's to feeling nervous -and- less awkward.” The offer of asking a question, however put her a little off guard, and she blinked a couple of times, mouth twisting slightly as she tried to think of something good to ask her friend. “Well... I could start with something easy, ya know, like asking your favourite colour, but somehow... I actually think I might be able to guess. Say it's purple and my Holmes fan-ship will be totally unquestionable.” The bookworm joked, lips turned in a warm smile, then shook her head and became thoughtful again. “A proper question though... Something that will really let me get to know you... Aha!” That familiar grin slithered across her lips, turning sly “Ya know, I can tell a lot from what someone reads so... what's your favourite book, hm?”

Acacia listened to the woman across the table from herself speak, a neutral expression was set on her pale facial features as she noted with relish the blush on the woman's cheeks subsided. The soft rue had been present for such a length of time that Acacia was beginning to think that it was Tambrey's normal rosy coloration, it was now the new fact that she was indeed blushing that caused a bit of giddiness to wash over her being.
'Maybe she blushes when she is nervous. Maybe I said something wrong. Hm? I really hope I didn't say something wrong, gawd it would be so nice if she thought I was attractive and that is why she is blushing. In your dreams Evalyn, in your dreams.'
Dislodging the thoughts from her mind with a casual shake of her head, red hues refocused on the dark-haired researcher some two-feet away from her, blinking for a moment as she spotted the outstretched glass Acacia lifted her own cup and gently chimed the two glasses together almost without hearing the reason for the toast.
“Wonderful toast---” complemented the slender framed woman, her tone sweet and low while locking eyes with her friend. Her gaze was intense but lacked the predatory heat that sometimes was directed at the slightly younger of the two. Her mouth upturned into a full cheeky smile as Tambrey seemed rather nervous about having to pick a question to ask her, it was amusing as the woman rambled for a few moments then without so much as a second doubt pinned her favorite color easily. Chuckling against her wrist the medical grunt pursed her lips and tilted her head as the dark-haired woman inquired as to what her favorite book was. Gnawing on her pale colored lower lip Acacia once again sought out her short messy tresses and ran her nails against the follicles she found there.
“Erm, favorite book huh? Well this is a difficult one,” leaning back in her chair her eyes fluttered closed, lifting the wine flute toward her lips; a softly colored tongue trailed the brim of the glass inadvertently seductive in nature. Barely cracking her left eye open Acacia smirked as she withdrew her tongue back into her mouth. “said I was going to be truthful so here it goes, please don't think I am a totally weirdo. Hannibal. The series written by Thomas Harris. But out of all of the books, Hannibal was my favorite one.” A shaky laugh escaped from her throat as her left hand gripped the stem of her glass with embarrassment in the form of a dark blush raising up her neck and settling brightly into her cheeks.

Tambrey's smile seemed happily glued onto the bookish grunt's face; the subject of books certainly seemed a safe bet on keeping her focused and interested. "Not a series I've read, but I have a lot of strange.. interests and a huge, uh, 'classic' interest... Not that I haven't read crime before- I mean, I've already mentioned Holmes, but I've got a couple of modern things... Uh, nothing by Harris, but maybe I'll have to look into it if it's your favourite." She grinned "I know there'll be no way they compare, but I've seen the films; Hannibal's a pretty fascinating character." She shook her head then. "And no, I don't think you're a weirdo at all! I mean, it's a pretty popular series and spawned interesting films; most films from books tend out really disappointing, but these were alright and I've never seen a film surpass its book yet, so I'm sure the books must be pretty good. I promise I'll find and start reading it next time I'm around the library or a book shop." Then she seemed to have an idea pop into her head and enthusiasm flowed through her expression. "Tell you what, we could do a trade, hm? I'll read that series if you read some of my favourites?" She wasn't sure how interested Acacia might be in such an idea, but Tam' was certainly keen. "It'd be like a two person bookclub, sort of. Um, if you wanted to try such a thing I mean, just thought it'd be a fun thing to do with a friend- never actually been in any sort of a book club before."

Jubilant. Jubilant was the only word that could describe the woman sitting on the opposite side of the table from her, pearly teeth gleamed in the overhead florescent bulbs as Acacia beamed from ear to ear. Seeing how excited the researcher became over speaking about books. “You are so adorable Tamie, and I would adore starting a friend-to-friend book club with you. Though I am kinda embarrassed cause I don't actually own that many books. I am not as bookish as I look might appear,” a tiny nervous laugh escaped from her barely parted lips as a shaky left hand crept to her pale face and covered the majoring of it. Peeking through her fingers Acacia coyly smirked with a continued bit of blush set on her cheeks. “Don't get me wrong I have a lot of books, just mostly medical texts and some rather strange reading material.” The rosy hue that darkened on her cheeks almost was the color of her eyes, lowering her hand from her face she exposed her bright skin and the goofy smile that she continuously tried to refrain from her features. Reaching out with her left hand again the woman sought out her wine flute for comfort once again she brought the glassware to her lips and drank; this time heavily of the honey liquids.
“I am a huge fantasy nerd to be honest. The books of Pern, There and Back Again a Hobbit's Holiday,” she coughed slightly while seemingly ducking behind her glass for protection at her next acquiesce . “The Harry Potter series. Slytherin pureblood sitting right here. Sickly pallor, pale colored hair, wealthy, arrogant, and a faithful follower of He-who-Must-Not-Be-Named a.k.a. The Team Rocket Boss, oh yes, I am that nerdy Tamie. Mock me now if you wish, although---” slyly crossing her arms Acacia brought her wine glass to rested against one of her cheeks, a wolf-like grin instantly manifesting along the length of her narrow features. “If you want to play the detective game, I would bet that Palu's scarf might be a certain House whom her owner might find appealing---” her steady gaze sought focus into the other woman's deep green hues as her devilish smirk faltered into something coy yet playful. “Ravenclaw, I presume?” The mock impersonation of her best Holmes left little to be desired, even the sophisticated accent that she used to enunciate the proclamation was worthy of Sherlock himself.

Tambrey had to do her best not to 'squee' as Acacia mimicked her favourite detective with quite some talent; it was both like so many films, yet totally an impression of Conan Doyle's own writings, at least, to Tambrey's mind anyway. "Holmes you've outdone yourself!" The bookish woman declared in her best assumed 'Watson' impression, then broke into giggles for a few moments. It was turning out to be an extremely fun day today. As she recovered from her giggling, she sat back into her chair and nodded in confirmation. "Ravenclaw. Yes." Another slight giggle that had escaped emittance the first round decided to break the sentence at this point. "... Ahem. Well. Because I like reading and... ya know... Well, you've met Palu. I just thought it really, really suited her. Slytherin's cool, but I just don't think it suits me so well; Team Rocket operative or not. And Palu really didn't seem like a serpent... I mean, for one, she -is- a bird." A sly smirk developed "Ya know, for a Slytherin, you've got such a little Hufflepuff of a Totodile in that pokeball. Very sweet little thing, he is." She grinned. "There is absolutely nothing wrong with being a fantasy nerd, by the way. I'm kind of a sci-fi nerd- but give me Jules Verne and steampunk over Michael Crichton anyday. Not to say I didn't like Jurassic Park, but I'll take the classics, ya know." She then remembered she was supposed to be drinking too and looked to her glass... well, apparently she had been pausing to drink a bit without even realising; there was less in there than she had expected. She shrugged, then sipped. Perhaps she drank quickly while excited or nervous.

“Hey leave my poor Hufflepuff Croc alone! He can't help it that he is a sweetie even if his mommy is an unattractive snob, and oh my gawd don't say anything about Jurassic Park around Ampule he was totally addicted to the movies and I can't go through that phase again, he was completely convened he was a velociraptor for the longest time!” Acacia's hand both shot over her mouth in effort to restrain the loud laughter from erupting like a fountain of noisy embarrassment; she hated the sound of her own laugh it always sounded fake or too over the top to be real, but that was just she sounded. Snort. 'Oh my gawd, I am gonna die, I didn't just do that, please tell me I just didn't do that. Oh my gawd, oh my gawd, I snorted, no, no, no, no! She is gonna laugh at me! Fail Evalyn, epic fail! s**t! Cover, cover, distraction Cretchfield!'“I dare say Watson, good show!” Acacia declared in a loud full bodied voice that was elegant and elevated in resilience by the accent that just seemed to pour out of her naturally, standing up from her chair with a sudden sweeping motion the slender woman was at Tambrey's side refreshing her beverage within a heartbeat of seeing the liquid refreshment deleting. “I will be right back, gorgeous. I need to go set out the caviar and check on the escargot. Would you like me to bring you anything while I am up?”

Tambrey creased and added her own laugh, but it wasn't quite directed at the same topic for a moment. "/Seriously/? Unattractive snob?" She shook her head and then looked apologetic almost immediately, though still tempted to laugh again. "I cannot quite believe you think that of yourself, Ace. I mean... snob's debatable..." She teased good-naturedly, smirk quirking the corners of her lips "But, really... No. Unattractive's not a word I'd be thinking when it came to you- ya really shouldn't put yourself down like that. I'm sure ya can look in a mirror and see it, but I guess we're all our own worst critics... seriously, though, you are hot." The bookish grunt shrugged and left it there.
'She really is attractive, I hope she doesn't truly think she isn't... '
"Aaw. Velocirdile... Or... Totoraptor... So cute." The dark-haired woman could easily imagine the little blue pokemon 'stalking' around the base. Ooh. She blinked as Acacia snorted. Tambrey tilted her head just slightly, a very slightly pleasantly surprised expression touching across her lips.
'That was /so/ cute... Ooh. She's covering... Man, I love that impression.'
"Thankyou," Tam' grinned as her wine was refilled and then blinked, frowning a little as though it was a difficult question. It wasn't, and she answered promptly, but that brief thoughtful frown seemed to have been reflexive. "Uh, no. Thank's Ace, but I think I'm alright; don't want to ingest anything before the meal is ready. Want plenty of space for the yum."

The statement set a dark blush across her face and caused her throat to tighten to the point that even her breathing came out as a small squeak, shaking violently Acacia placed the wine bottle down against the table with a loud clack.
'Oh my gawd, Hot? Me? How do I take this, how do I take this, no one has ever said anything like that before! Don't over react, don't over react, women say that sort of stuff to their friends, it is normal, don't freak out, don't freak out! Omfg! She thinks I am hot! She didn't mean it, she couldn't have meant it, she was just being nice. Chill. Stay cool. Don't over react.'
The painful up and down heaving of her chest sent the medic staggering backwards, words barely able to find their way to her lips to reply to her friend. “You are such a tease! Come on, if I was hot I think I would know it, I mean oh my gawd I would at least have had at least one gir---grownup date. Actually, any sort of date. But still, the statement totally made my day, you're so damn sweet Tamie.” Happily exclaimed the white-haired grunt as she instinctively wrapped her slender arms around the dark-haired woman's neck and brought her face down to rest in the soft fold between Tambrey's jaw and shoulder.
The soft scent of lime and coconut mixed with a faint floral undertone drifted sweetly over around the two grunts as Acacia nuzzled the crook of her friend's neck affectionately, slowly the slender woman pulled away in effort to fight the on coming urge to place a tender kiss long the warmth of the skin her cheek rested against. “I will be right back, two minutes at the most.” Reaching forward Acacia brought her thumb softly across Tambrey's cheek stroking the smoothness beneath her digit fondly, her hand lingered for a moment longer than was needed before she with drew her hand and walked away into the kitchen without so much as another word spoken.

'Huh. She squeaks. /Cute/. ..Woah!' Tambrey found herself jumping a little as the wine bottle made a loud noise on the table; reflexively she moved back a little with her jump, but avoided causing the chair to make too much noise that might have given away the fact that the noise had startled her.
"Hey, not teasing; besides, we're our own worst critics, right? You complimented me earlier, sounded like you believed it, but I've never thought of myself as anything but 'nerdy'. My opinion's honest." She grinned, then widened her eyes as Acacia leaned in and gave a very affectionate sort of hug.
'Grrrown-up date? Is that a Frosties ref- Ooh, wait. Huh. -That- might make sense... But I'm probably reading too much into it. She seems nervous about compliments, maybe it was just a stuttering... This; this is nice though...'
After a few seconds of freezing up slightly, finding the hug unexpected, one could likely feel the reflexive tension leaving the bookish-grunt's body as she smiled, putting one arm to gently wrap around and rest behind Acacia's shoulders.
"Never had quite a reaction for a simple compliment before," She noted, with happy amusement "Well, I'm glad... You are very welcome..." She fell silent, still smiling after that, then offered a shallow, gentle nod as the slimmer woman said she'd be right back, blinking a little at the lingering touch. She fought a blush as Acacia walked away, hoping it would be gone before the other grunt returned. 'Or maybe I'm not reading into it enough...' She thought, before images of teenage humiliation flickered somewhere in her brain '... No. I'm being silly...'

The kitchen door swayed open then closed with a hushed click. “What the fu---what was I thinking!? Oh my gawd! What did I do, what did I do, I am messing everything up and I have a big mouth that is what I did. Smooth Cretchfield smooth,” padding along the cold tile Acacia pinched the bridge of her nose while sighing heavily, there was a bit of tension in her body as she tugged the refrigerator open and pulled out the two jars are fish roe. Leaning against the counter the slender framed white-haired grunt sighed deeply yet again before checking on the escargot, the decadent simmer of the helix snails popped loudly bringing forth with the noise the scent of lemon and garlic; the light brown colorization of the edible mollusks hinted at the state of being near ready for consumption.
“Get it together, don't let your emotions get in the way of making a friend. Just a friend, even though she is amazingly good looking, smart, and funny, doesn't mean that you can just go and get all, head over heels because of her. Just calm down and relax. Enjoy just having someone to talk to, Casanova.” Stretching the full length of her body Acacia sauntered over to where the sink was and found herself lost in thought as she scrubbed her fingers, palms, knuckles and wrists.
Crimson hues fluttered closed as the sound of water began to echo into the distance and tingling warmth like tiny pin pricks began to surface across her skin, relaxing into the rhythmic motion Acacia hummed sweetly to herself completely losing track of time.
It took several more minutes before the white-haired medic came back to her senses, ceasing the water flow the slender built woman shook her hands dry and rushed back to her friend. The pinkness of her raw skin was further denoted and noticeable as a thin line of blood surfaced in the folds of pealed off flesh; the crimson droplets unknown to the gaunt woman.
“Sorry that I took so long, Tamie. I kinda spaced out when I was washing my hands, I do that sometimes.” Curtly chuckled the slender built twenty-four year old as she slid back into her chair and lifted her wine flute to her lips taking a long deep drink of the amber liquid; a ruddy smear streaking the glass as she set it back onto the table.

A breath of the smells from the kitchen escaped as the door was closed, granting Tam' a very brief but tempting scent of the cooking foods. She had no desire to eat snails, but she had to admit that even the escargot was emitting somewhat a pleasant odour.
Without really thinking about it, she placed Palu's pokeball on the table, one finger lingering on top as she gently rocked it, and the sleeping pokemon inside, back and forth; a thoughtful visage crossing her features. "That was... odd, Palu." She began, biting her lip slightly, then continuing "We've got friends now; good ones by my feelings... but is it wrong that I 'like' someone so quickly..? I think she... might be interested. Gah. You know me; I'm reading it all wrong as usual. Yeah. We should just enjoy having a friend." Tambrey shook her head, then smiled at the unresponsive sphere, before hugging it to her for a moment.
"Thanks Palu; you always know what to say."
She clipped the bird's pokeball back onto her belt and looked to the door, waiting, with thoughts drifting hither and thither from subject to subject. Lost in her erratic reverie, Tambrey found, to her shame, that she actually jumped a little as Acacia reappeared through the door. She smiled though, watching her friend make her way back to the table.
"Oh, it's no problem. Happens to everyone, I think- the spacing out while doing a task. Usually happens to me if I'm sweeping or mop- What the frack..?" The bookish grunt cut short her related statements, slightly alarmed. She slid herself back a tiny bit quite suddenly as her eye caught the pigment that didn't belong on the other grunt's paler skin. "Ace, what happened? You're bleeding!" She leaned forward, trying to take the other woman's wrist so that she could look, though she wasn't really sure how much help she could be compared to the medic herself.

The connection of Tambrey's hand against Acacia wrist startled the young woman, blinking confusedly for a few moments as her mouth pursed into a small 'O' shape; crimson hues trailing from vivid green down towards her own hand. “Oh...oh...that is nothing,” a tight laugh tumbled from now drying lips as the white-haired medic wrinkled her nose and forced her her posture to relax though her manners still seemed compunctious in nature. “I must have accidentally scrubbed my skin raw. Oooospie.”
Downplaying the small nicks that were absentmindedly self-inflicted Acacia withdrew her hand from the other woman's grasp with gentle reluctance and smiled brightly, the action was a cover, she didn't want attention or sympathy based on the odd behavior that she herself was fully aware of yet could not control. “It isn't anything to worry about, I will just...um...ya know wear some gloves from the kitchen. Nothing to worry about Tamie, it happens a lot to be honest. Sometimes I even wear makeup on my hands cause I won't stop scrubbin' my hands when I am in the shower, I go from the loofah to my pumice stone. I know, I know, I am a total weirdo. But it is something that I have done since I was a little, little kid. Maybe it has something to do with growing up in a house with two doctors. Ah---”
Lowering her vision to the glass resting on the table Acacia felt the edges of her mouth uplift into a lopsided grin, somber yet airy. “You were saying about sweeping and mopping? Oh, also, dinner is almost ready, just a few more minutes now, like fifteen at the most.”

'Must have accidentally scrubbed her skin raw?! How is she that calm about that; surely it must be hurting...' Tambrey's brow was wrinkled in concern; sure she'd scolded herself or rubbed a slight friction burn during washing herself before, but she'd never come across someone accidentally scrubbing hard enough to start bleeding before.
"Wow. I think... No, I know I'd never have quite so calm a reaction about something like this. Surely it's hurting? Shouldn't you be putting... um... something on it? I don't want you to be sitting her hurting..." Reluctantly, as though she thought she could be fixing the wound by looking at it, Tambrey let her eyes go from the scrubbed arm back to Acacia's eyes properly.
"Er... maybe." Tam' conceded as Acacia suggested a reason for what, to the bookish grunt, seemed like a really overzealous approach to hand hygiene. "I guess doctors do have to wash their hands a lot... I've never really thought about the... habits we must pick up from our parents, though I know I drive like my mother does at least..." She bit her lip and visibly calmed her concern, trusting in her friend's judgement of her own behaviour. "Okay... Eh. The sweeping and mopping," She waved her right hand dismissively "I was just saying I kind of zone out when I do those tasks."
Tam's stomach decided, right after Acacia had said that dinner was nearly ready, to warble, not loudly, but still a rather strange noise; clearly the grunt was looking forward to the meal. "Heh." Tambrey put her hand on her stomach and smiled embarrassed. "Erm, well, I guess I'm just really glad to hear that too..."

Acacia shifted in her seat once again crossing her right leg over left knee, a light sigh followed by a thoughtless shake of her head opened the medic up as if the action caused her defenses to rumble, they were friends after all; no hiding things from a friend especially since she had already decided to herself that she wanted more from Tambrey. Swallowing her pride Acacia leaned forward with her legs still crossed. “You know, you would never made a good liar, Tamie. Your eyes are too expressive, I am totally gonna tell you something as a confidante. It isn't something that I can help, I can't even control it Tambrey,” a haggard sigh, broken and wavering rushed forward. “I have O.C.D., just a bit though. And only with washing my hands, I know they are clean. I do. But when I am washing my hands I just can't stop. Yeah it hurts, it always does, my hands are very sensitive, no matter how often I rub them raw it never desensitizes them. It is pretty embarrassing really.” Breathlessly rambled the white-haired young woman as if afraid if she paused she would freeze up and lock away the secret forever.
Leaning backwards Acacia exhaled loudly trying to settle her rising pitch back into its normal tone, a lopsided grin eased from corner to corner; a nervous smile that seeped with a sheepish embarrassment.
'Well that is in the open now---don't try to cover---just---be yourself Ace.'
Brushing her left hand through her messy white locks Acacia re-situated herself in her chair yet again, uncrossing her legs then recrossing them. Pausing, then smirking fully with the brilliance of her doctored white teeth; a shimmer of pearl glistened from pointed eyeteeth. “Tamie, are you that hungry? Gawd sweetheart, why didn't you tell me? I could have made you something to snack on while we waited. And here I am pumping you full of alcohol, now I feel like a bad hostess. Though---I don't think I am actually hosting anything. But I still feel responsible. No getting drunk on me Tamie, I don't know how I would feel if we ended up in bed, it might not be that horrible just still just a little awkward. Hey Tamie, what's your mommy like? Do you look like her? Do you keep in contact with her?”
