She exhaled through her nose as she offered the chocolate stick a little closer to the books, since the 'vee didn't seem to want to come out just yet. "When will you come out? You'll get more treats if you come out, you know," she murmured gently, resting her cheek on her arm. She couldn't lay here all day, anyway..

"Vui vui!" The 'vee, suddenly resolute, nabbed the biscuit stick ran over to the door, holding it firmly in its mouth and pawing at the large barrier. Why was it closed?

Eyebrows rose as the little pokemon grabbed the treat and scurried to the door, and the young woman chuckled a bit. "Sorry, door's closed," she said as she sat up. "You can't get out anymore." She took out another treat and held it out, though the 'vee seemed to like holding that one in her mouth. Why did it insist on running away..?

"Vff..." Long ears flatted against its head, and it turned sad - possibly even fearful - eyes on Claire, leaning the bulk of its body against the door as if willing it to open.

A small frown formed on her face. Why was it so scared..? Well, obviously, this approach wasn't working either, but at least.. perhaps she showed it she wasn't about to hurt it. Maybe. She'd probably have to cement that thought in, though. So, with this in mind, she moved closer to the door without fully standing, because maybe she was afraid of scary people towering over her. Maybe, Claire really had no idea whatsoever. "I won't hurt you, I promise," she murmured gently, reaching out to pet the 'vee.

"Evui!" It ducked, shrinking into as small a ball it could manage, ready to be seized by the scruff and dragged off to the labs. This fear didn't come to pass, though, and the Eevee was instead met with the pleasant sensation of a hand gently rubbing against its head. "Vuu...?"

A smile found its way to her face as she continued to gently pet the frightened pokemon. "There, see? I told you I wouldn't hurt you," she said, moving to stroke her back too for a few seconds before lightly scratching around her ears. "There's no need to be afraid." Maybe now she could hold it..? It was so soft and cute, and..! Not that she liked really cute things. Ahem.

"Vfff..." The Eevee arched its back slightly, flicking an ear instinctively and closing its eyes to enjoy the sensation.

Hmm.. Maybe now..? It seemed like as good a time as any. So, with little warning Claire suddenly attempted to scoop up the Eevee, gently of course and not quick enough to scare it, and continued to pet it. Hopefully it wouldn't get scared and try to run away again.

"Evui vui?!" It kicked its feet momentarily, surprised by the fact that it was suddenly being handled. But the lady was awfully gentle for handling, and the Eevee settled quickly, ears remaining straight up in alert nonetheless.

Well, that went much better than she expected, and she cradled the little pokemon in her arms and stroked its head. "There, this isn't so bad, is it? I don't know what in the world you were so scared for," she said gently, trying to help calm it by talking. Maybe it was helping, or maybe it wasn't, but she was talking to it nevertheless. While speaking she had stepped over to the bed and slowly sat down cross-legged, leaning against her pillow, and gently set the 'vee in her lap and continued to pet it. The box of pocky was placed on top of the bedside dresser in case it was needed later.

The Eevee shut its green eyes, relaxing despite itself. It was unfamiliar with this whole "petting" thing, but it had seen enough to know it was good. A mild and innate fear persisted, though, and it buried its face in Claire's shirt as if in hiding.
Elsewhere in the base - specifically outside Claire's door - another Rocket's day was beginning with an equal yet distinctly different excitement. A series of short knocks sounded against the hallway side of the door, causing the Eevee's ears to raise.

She couldn't help but smile at the little 'vee in her lap, even if it was still a little sca--knocking? What..? Who... Oh. A frown replaced the smile as she realized who the only likely person could be - the person who likely conveniently remembered a number of things after last night.
A small sigh escaped her as she tried to figure out how to carry the little fluffy thing without it freaking out when she answered the door... Aha! Well, it wasn't a brilliant idea, but it was as good as any. At least the fox-like ball of fur was small.
Claire zipped her hoodie up a couple inches before scooping the little fluffball up once again, and carefully holding her against her chest and stomach while zipping it up several more inches. There! Now the little fuzzball would be all nestled and (hopefully) feel safe there. Hopefully. That done, she curved one arm around the 'vee's behind and her other hand stroked her head gently as she got up and walked to the door, slowly pulling it open and hoping the adorable ball of fluff wouldn't be terrified and run off.

A confused "vui?" marked the little Eevee's placement into her jacket, and it peeked out from the opening, hooking its paws on either side of its face and looking up at Claire. It was deeply confused but also very warm and cozy, so it didn't fight back too much, especially once the petting hand returned to her furry head.
The man on the other side of the door, though he had only been waiting for a few moments, was tapping his foot impatiently, arms crossed. When the door was finally pulled open, Lucas breathed a quiet sigh of relief. "Arceus, Claire, I just--" He faltered. "Is... that an Eevee in your..." No no, focus. "Actually, no, look, this is so crazy. We were talking yesterday, right? About Galactic? Did that happen?" He could swear it happened, but why was the memory of it only appearing in his head retrospectively?

She stepped back and pulled him into her room with a "Yes it is and yes we did," and shut the door behind him. Having these sorts of conversations out in the hallway was not an option. "Come in, sit down and calm down," she said firmly, though her tone was gentle, and steered him towards her bed so he could sit down. Without waiting for him to sit first she carefully sat down, moving the supporting arm due to her sitting position, and continued to pet the furry head. She should have known this was coming eventually. Hadn't she thought that when she woke up? Maybe, but too much had happened recently and she really didn't feel like trying to remember. "Did you just remember that? How much of it do you remember?"
