"All right, let's go," he told them. "We need to figure out what's going on."

Silverstar padded back into camp. He was surprised that the other clan leaders were easily ready to agree to his plan. Their problem must have been worse than he thought.
"Riverstrike," he called to the warrior. "I want you and Heartsong on the first combined patrol tomarrow."

Silverstar frowned and padded closer to the warrior he had named.
"Riverstrike, did you hear me?" he asked.

Riverstrike, who had been watching a bee, suddenly shook her head. "Yes Silverstar!" she exclaimed, "May I take Leapingpaw as well?"

Silverstar hesitated for a moment, thinking it over. They were supposed to bring two warriors, but what was the harm?
"All right," he replied. "You and Leapingpaw can go. I'll have Heartsong lead a patrol towards our other border."

"Yes, sir, Silverstar!" Heartsong nodded, bowing her head to her leader, heading towards the border with Leapingpaw and Riverstrike.
