I.Am Lorysa I'm Christian... Protestant, I think. But I don't really know much about Protestantism, except for a few basic things, so I think I'll just convert to non-denominational... ism, but still be a Christian. whee Protestant basically means "Not Catholic;" So non-denominationalism belongs in Protestant. xd Oh! Well then... I'm converting back to Protestantism!

I beilive the Catholic Church was first established by Emperor COnstantine of Rome, there were christians before that, they had just never organised them selves into a "church." But it still dosn't mean Catholics were first, only the first organised christian churge

But it still dosn't mean Catholics were first, only the first organised christian churge ...No, no I don't think so. Constantine used a Christian symbol on the battlefield, I believe, but he didn't organize the Church. The church always had leaders, just take the letters from Paul for example of that. Just because it wasn't "officially" organized, doesn't mean that there was not a form of organization. A List of Catholic Popes, from Peter to the most recent one. With biographies of the Popes of long ago (Although, the more recent ones don't have anything, for some reason.) Note that it says that the time spent in Rome was during the last part of his life, and that the exact dates are unknown.

Regardless, however, the question was whether the Catholic Church is Pagan; If you have any evidence to that effect, I would like to see it.

Beware the Jabberwock La Veuve Zin Wow....those results are...really non-stereotypical... eek I suppose I could have put either pagan or atheist, as I consider myself a secular pagan. A.k.a. tree-hugging atheist. xd I hold the planet that supports me in the highest regard, to me nothing is more sacred than the Earth. But I don't believe in any kind of "higher power," and I myself am the only goddess in my life, so atheist fits me. Sounds slightly like Satanism as well. ~nods~ Belief in oneself as the only higher power and the like. 3nodding I generally consider myself to be a LaVeyan Satanist, but a lot of people don't know what that means... gonk

Pyrotechnic Oracle I never said it was Pagan. And it was King Henry the VIII -That's- the one; I don't know why I was thinking "James." Probably because of that verision of the Bible. And I know you didn't directly, but you did start arguing one of my points as to why we are -not- Pagan. And that still doesn't change the question; If you have evidence towards the effect that Catholics are Pagan, which obviously someone thinks they do since sachiko called us Pagans, I'd really like to see it.

Apparently some Christians consider Catholics to be pagan because of the saints (which Catholics allegedy worship). I was raised Catholic myself, and I think that's just retarded, though the idea of saints as deities is found in Vodou and other African-Caribbean religions. I'm sure they're not considered Catholics, though.

I'm sure they're not considered Catholics, though. Probably not; Santeria is also based basically off of Catholicism, but it is changed into a more Pagan belief. I guess I can understand that, then. 3nodding Although, I wish that the Protestants would start learning; I really hate explaining that we don't -worship- them, we hold them in high regard and ask them for intercession. Basically, for those who don't know, intercession is, since they are in Heaven already, going to God and asking for something on our behalf.

Pyrotechnic Oracle But you see, thats what i don't understand, why can't you pray to God directly? We do. But why can't we talk to dead souls, too? It's not like we only pray to saints, or like we all pray to saints. I find a lot of answers by reflecting on the lives of the saints because they're sorta like role models, and I pray to them when I find something I can identify with, but I also talk to my grandfather who died when I was two. I believe in everlasting life, and I believe that the souls in heaven can see me on earth, so I talk to them too. Maybe it's silly of me, but it gives me comfort.
