So what your saying is, it should be enforced that a PRIVATELY OWNED COMPANY is not allowed to use its money in a way that it chooses to do so, and to support causes it deems worthy of its own money?
You're disgusting, If I donate money to starving children you'd get mad at me for not donating half of that to starving gay children as well... is it not enough that these companies actually do help some people when they're not forced to? regardless of their political and moral values?
*sigh*
I hate that I'm even going to respond to this, but here goes:
1. Privately owned companies can (within reason) do what they want with their money. But it doesn't mean that I, as a paying customer, have to support a company that actively opposed things that I support, or vice versa. I.e., Exxon-Mobile: they make more money than any company on the planet, and yet they took away domestic partner benefits for their employees back in 1999. Why should I buy gas from them, when I can buy from a company that treats its LGBT employees like human beings?
2. Sadly, there ARE a number of charitable organizations (mostly operating in third-world nations) that are more than happy to take my money and give it only to the needy people who meet their "moral and ethical" requirements. So a gay man, for example, might get turned away when a christian group is distributing food or blankets in Indonesia, or providing malaria treatment in Africa. Why not try to support groups who DON'T discriminate? All it takes is a little research.
