Tambrey was of course, rather pleased that the other grunt was finding it so difficult not to smile. She'd met a few other grunts too, and while certainly nicer than she'd expected, she'd been surprised to find herself getting along with the pale medic so quickly.

"Oh, most certainly!" Tam' nodded happily "I'd love to learn from you, and to taste your cooking. I'd be pretty much honoured if you'd teach me some of the things you've learned. All of my efforts are from cookery shows, books or what I've watched my mother do. Would love to learn more than a few things, if you'd really like to help me with such a thing."

Palu seemed pleased enough to be in the hug too and, of course, seeing that she seemed to have done something very right, went into her happily proud and high-held head pose once Acacia broke off and pushed up from the hug. She looked between the two grunts and warbled happily. Her trainer did need more human friends, the bird was certain and the idea of cookery and contests certainly wasn't unwelcome either.

"A date?" Hm. Well, why not? Tambrey regarded the other woman, though found herself worrying over the idea of being paid for. No matter how wealthy Acacia might be, the dark-haired grunt worried over it. "Well. I mean, I would -love- to do that and go with you to a contest. It would be so much fun, but... for you to pay for it all like that?" Tam' bit her lip a little then hit upon an idea. "I'll agree to it if, before we do, you'll teach me how to make snacks to take with us and then let me make them and provide refreshments and things? It would really be a fun thing to do that though."

'I would -love- to do that', mentally chimed the thin blonde, it was a bit unexpected truthfully no matter how often she got shot down for dates it always was more painful to actually have someone agree to go out with her, a tight knot was already starting to develop at the pit of her stomach however she knew that it was a 'friend date' and not one with more meaning. Grinning from ear to ear Acacia brushed her long fingers through her purple tipped hair the action was soothing to her nerves.

'Well, I don't think I am going to be winning her heart over, I can just calm down and stop freaking out. It is just a girl date, not like she is going to try and hold my hand if we are at the contest---stop pausing Evalyn say something to her, you dumbass.'

Regarding her words carefully the thin medic rustled her own spiky white locks as she answered. “Your terms are agreeable,” she mirthfully retorted with a playful wink. “I will be more than happy to teach you whatever you would enjoy learning. And packing snacks is a brilliant idea, also,” casually drawled the woman, her tenor soft and airy almost coy. “Don't even worry about me paying for things, if it is one thing I inherited from my father it is a strong sense of reason when it comes to saving money. I might frivolously go on spending sprees but that is mostly on things I need, like clothes for Ampule. I could probably pay for ten-thousand Contest fees. So no worries, Tamie.” Acacia pompously boasted, she of course was just bragging but not once did the statement seem falsified or overly-cocky.

Snuggling against Palu's warm downy chest Ampule nuzzled his snout against her wing before stepping away from her, reaching over the small totodile tugged on his trainer's sleeve trying to get her attention.

Dile? Todi di di di dile. Ahhh, ahh.” Explained the Big Jaw pokemon as he climbed into Acacia's lap. Pointing to his mouth and curling his lips Ampule began to make sucking noises hinting that he was thirsty. Nodding her head the slender woman kissed the top of his snout.

“I didn't bring any juice boxes with me sweetie, but I think—“ reaching into her jeans the medic pulled out several single value pokedollars, pulling out four she handed them to the pudgy lump. “Go get us all something to drink, have Palu help you if you can't reach the buttons okay?” Stroking his ridges she lightly nudged him towards the soda vending machine that was on the other side of the room. Toddling off with the money Ampule sheepishly looked over his shoulder at Palu hoping that she would follow him.

'Huh. Tamie...' Tambrey's eyebrows rose a little with surprise at the name, though with no look of displeasure; simply registering how she wasn't expecting to hear it.
"Y'know. No one's called me that in a couple of years now," She began, smile returning very quickly. "It's nice to hear someone use it again; Tam, Tambrey, Tamie. They all work, but that latter isn't used much." She admitted.
"Anyway, if you're sure about it, then wonderful! We'll have to look up schedules and things!"

Palu had been following the talk with interest, head moving back and forth between trainers and cooing happily with the things that she found exciting; mostly the idea of actually going to a contest like her trainer would show her on TV, and the fact that someone was going to teach Tam' to make, possibly, the food that rich people, thus their pokemon, might get to eat. As a pretty and important bird, this was of course a very good development for her. She looked down to nudge Ampule affectionately again as she was hugged, then watched the little 'dile ask for a drink. The bird puffed her chest out and stood tall as Acacia told the little water type to have Palu help him. Of course she'd come with her friend and she marched along after him, with her proud beaky-smile.

A curt chortle escaped her lips reaching up the blonde attempted to muffle the sound with the palm of her hand. “Well, Tamie is a cute name, and I think I like it for you. It isn't like I get nicknames, there isn't much you can do with Acacia. At least not without making those names sound stupid. Then again---” she trailed off for just a moment and dodged whatever statement she was about to say with commenting to the latter of what the bookish grunt had said. “Oh yes, I am sure. And yeah we will have to look up schedules and the like, it really should be fun. I can't wait!”

Lowering her slim frame so that she was now inches away from the couch resting on her stomach, propping herself up onto her left elbow she grinned sheepishly towards Tambrey. “So about cooking, are you allergic to anything?” Acacia inquired, her cheeks lighting up once again with a pink blush.

Todi,” Ampule explained as he lead Palu towards the vending machine, there was something called 'diet' he started. “Dile to to to to dile, todi.” It was a very serious statement from the normally playful totodile. It was vary important that he 'read' the labels on the machine, Acacia had to have something called diet, and he was only allowed to have caffeine-free drinks. It was super important that he make sure to get those sort of beverages. Padding up to the vending dispenser he smoothed out the money and eyed the slot near the middle of the machine. Glancing from side to side, he sighed lightly as the nearest chair was across the room. Holding the money out to Palu he pointed up to the acceptor slot then smiled toothily at her while shifting his tail behind him sheepishly.

"I can't wait either! Though. I guess... we have to, but still, there should be a contest or two to catch on TV before time too, y'know. We could raid this room a couple of times and haunt the TV..." Clearly eager over the whole contest business.
And then she moved on to the semi-serious business of names and nicknames. She was sure there was a good one in there somewhere.
"Hmm." Tambrey, or Tamie, regarded Acacia thoughtfully. "Y'know, I bet we could come up with a pretty cute nickname f'r you as well... Though, honestly, you've got a lovely name as it is... Hm. How'd you feel about the name 'Ace'?" Tam' tried and then frowned just likely. "Or... that might need work. 'Acey' or something... Ooh! Or 'A.C.'?" The dark-haired grunt clearly trying such nicknames out in her head as, and even before she spoke.
"I mean, Acacia's a beautiful name anyway, but if ya wanted one..."

Palu nodded along to Ampule's explanation, seeming to understand perfectly. "Pidge- pidgeooh toh." She warbled back. Tambrey often drank diet things too, though she'd discovered her trainer loved caffiene.
The bird looked from the Totodile offering the money and then up to the money slot. She shook her head with a cheeky look in her eye. Instead of taking the money, the Pidgeotto lowered herself down, inviting the Totodile to climb on. He looked like he'd be light enough and she was pretty sure he'd easily be able to reach the slot and even perhaps the buttons if he were to be up on her shoulders.

Again the woman laughed into her hand, she was blushing deeply now as Tambrey rattled off cute names, her lips were curled into a sincerely smile of delight. “Oh come on, Ace, really. I am nowhere near cool enough to have a name like that,” she grinned more broadly then sheepishly tucked her head down as if hiding into the folds of her sleeves. “Acacia is already a nickname, well the name I prefer. It is my middle name. My proper name is Evalyn. After both of my parents. I really don't like it, I mean I do---but---if I say my name is Evalyn people will call me Eva, and I can't handle that. My daddy used to call me Eva when he----when---”

She bit her lower lip and forced a smile just for the other woman.

“We were alone.” She finished in a girlish tone that was nervous in pitch as if she was frightened. Brushing her hands over her eyes she rolled onto her back and stared up at the ceiling. “Anyhow—as far as food goes, are you allergic to anything?” Acacia repeated her previous question trying desperately to sound casual and put together.

Nodding his head towards Palu he climbed onto her offered back, very careful of his tail and crawled feet, standing his full height Ampule let out a small giggle and fed the machine the money before tapping the buttons for the canned beverages. Two diet colas, a rootbeer, and one can of something that was orange by the looks of the color on the button. Hopping down he cuddled against the downy breasted bird for just a moment before taking the four cans and toddling back towards the two trainers.

Far too wrapped up in nicknames, Tambrey had completely forgotten there was a question. She remembered quick enough and blushed deeply though as Acacia repeated it for her, shaking her head, then pausing, then shaking her head again.
"Oh. Um. I'm so sorry... For missing your question and well... No. I mean, I'm not very good with meat but that's not /so/ much an allergy."
She fell quiet as she considered the very subtle implication that seemed to have been dropped in with Acacia's explanation of her real name.
"Ah. Well. I won't call you Eva. But I think you're pretty call, so you might catch me calling you 'Ace' after all." The dark-haired grunt said as she slid off the couch to sit next to Acacia; it seemed like the right thing to do was to offer a quick, but hopefully comforting hug and seeing that Ampule was still getting the drinks with Palu, Tam' was prepared to offer it herself for the moment.

Palu held herself still and steady for her smaller friend as he fed the money into the machine and pressed the buttons to recieve the four drinks. She warbled soft approval as Ampule hopped down and she was given yet another hug. She then tilted her head at the cans that the little Totodile had picked out as she followed him back toward the two women, again holding her head high as she was pleased she and her friend had been given and completed the important task of beverage retrieval.

It was a pleasant feeling, the sudden warm that Tambrey's body brought to her own. She didn't cry about the past anymore, only if she was alone did she allow herself the privilege of that guilty pleasure. Sobbing like a baby was something that she didn't enjoy doing, yet it did help her feel better. In general it made her feel better but not on the whole.

Wrapping her thin arms around the woman, Acacia was suddenly aware that she was shaking yet again. She hated being so emotional, but within the few moments of friendly exchange in affection the slender woman settled her nerves and lightly pulled back, her hand however still lingered for a few moments longer on the grunt's arms. “Thank you---I needed that Tamie. I really did. Ah and meat? No problem, I have a lot of vegetarian friendly recipes, it is easy to remedy meat in dishes, it just takes a bit of creativity.”

Ampule hopped across the carpet, making large bounds for his little legs, carefully minding the sodas in his arms making sure not to shake them too much. Strutting up to his trainer he placed the two cans of diet cola down for both women then turning smartly he held up the other two cans and looked at Palu offering her the choice pick of either rootbeer or orange crème soda.

It seemed that the hug had been a good idea, and for that, Tambrey was most certainly glad. She noticed the shaking with a little increased concern but at the visible settling of Acacia's emotions, the bookish grunt smiled, sitting against the couch, though on the floor still after the paler woman had pulled back.
"Good. That it helped. It seemed like the right thing to do," She smirked then, adding the cheeky nickname onto the end of her sentence "Ace."
She stretched out, flexing her toes, ankles and leaning back, right hand over her wrist as she stretched through her whole body. Sitting, reading the book and such limited movement since had made her limbs and joints feel a tiny bit too relaxed and thus she stretched to wake them up a little.
"Aah. Ahem." She sat back up, reaching to fix her glasses and then nodded. "Oh, um, certainly. I know a few alternatives and things, but so many exotic dishes seem to need specific meats... Actually that's one of the things you really could teach me about as well? Getting around meat in some dishes?" She asked, smiling then as she watched the pokemon returning. "Aha! The foragers return with a prize... Thankyou Ampule."
The dark haired woman accepted the drink from him.

The Pidgeotto didn't know which one she wanted. She'd never actually tried either drink, and seeing it in a can; well, she knew this could be complicated. The bird tapped her beak against one and then then other and then tilted her head and nodded toward Ampule.
"Pidgeotto!" She asked the little croc' to choose first, after all, she'd never tried either one and thus was happy to accept whichever her friend wouldn't take.

Dile dile dile dile, todi.” Ampule mused as he developed a genius idea to solve the problem at clawed hand. Sitting the two remaining cans down the totodile rushed across the room at 'breakneck' speed for one of his species, jumping as he neared the water-cooler at the edge of the room near the vending machine Ampule pulled not one or two but four small flat bottomed Styrofoam cups from the cupholder then darted back to his winged compatriot. Narrowing his eyes he sat down on the floor and placed the four cups down spacing them out carefully, the next part was important and he would need to focus. Straightening his tail he then turned his attention towards the cans, pulling the metal tabs back with the tip of his clawed hand, rewarded with the crisp snap of the beverage's first breath. Careful of his next movements Ampule grabbed the orange crème first and poured the juice into two cups, slowly, painstakingly so he measured the amount of liquid in the two containers; his long pink tongue sticking out the side of his mouth as he concentrated on his important task. Once he was done, he repeated the long process with the rootbeer. He was a genius, now they both could have one of each and Palu could drink it with her stiff mouth, beak, the thing on her face.

Blushing more Acacia dragged her well-polish nail across the bookish grunt's barefooted sole then laughed, she had tried to not stare at the woman while she stretched but had failed miserably, she hoped that Tambrey had not noticed. “Ace, it is then. Makes me feel dangerous, like I should be a card shark or something. Or sell organs on the black market and stitch up my victims with an Ace symbol where their kidneys used to be,” snickering at her own dark humor for just a moment Acacia continued to answer Tambrey's culinary inquiry. “With specific meats in certain dishes, it is actually really easy to counter combat that. Sometimes tricky, but over all exciting to hash it out and get it perfect. Trust me, I will teach you a lot about cooking. Just don't expect me to teach you too much about desserts, even Ampule won't eat my sweets, and he adores desserts. Isn't that right Ampule,” she redirected her statement to the blue totodile that was busy sipping his orange soda fondly. Blinking slightly he sat the cup down then turned to look at his owner inquisitively. “Does Ampule want mommy to make him a cake?” Acacia had slipped and referred to herself as 'mommy', she normally only used that term when her and her pokemon were in private quarters.

As the word 'cake' escaped from the pale woman's lips Ampule's eyes widdened with fear, snapping his small stubby hands over his snout, he clutched his maw closed then vigorously shook his head 'NO' while backing away from his trainer. No, no, no, no, no! Never again would he eat 'cake'! No!

“Calm down, I am not going to bake anything Ampule. No cake. No cake for Ampule,” she assured him then grinned back towards Tambrey. “Yeah, it is that bad. The only dessert I can make is instant pudding. Go figure.” She giggled at her own expense.

Palu watched her friend grab the four cups and gives a soft coo of interest as he spaced them out in front of him.
The bird tilted her head, watching carefully as he pulled back the ringpulls, then examining her talons. Hmm. She could do that, she was sure, if she was careful.
Still, she bobbed her head happily and fell very quiet as the Totodile began to focus and pour. As she watched, Palu's beaky smile once again reappeared, the bird seeming very happy to watch Ampule being rather intelligent with his dividing of the drinks.
"Pidgee-Oh." She praised, then dipped her head as a thankyou and decided to try the rootbeer first. Taking the cup carefully in her beak, the bird then tipped it back, spilling a small amount but drinking most of the cup and clearly enjoying it.

"Waah!" Tambrey shrieked as the other woman ran her nail over her foot. "Nono! /Far/ too ticklish for that!" She protested with a panicked smile, then snickered darkly along with Acacia's humour.
"A little outside of Rocket practice, but that'd only add to your fearsome reputation after all... Oh. Really?" She looked from Acacia to the panicking little Totodile.

Palu also looked up, rather confused and concerned over her new friend's reaction, her orange creme still untouched for the moment.

"Well now... There's a thing. I'm pretty good with a few desserts. Baking's one of the things that goes right f'r me. Another thing I could repay you with, if ya wanted. It's nothing fancy- just home baking, but a cake or cookies, I could help with?" Tambrey grinned, pleased to have found another thing that she might actually be able to offer in return to her new friend.
She made no comment on the other grunt referring to herself as Ampule's mother; it wasn't /too/ unusual, she was thinking to herself. It was even pleasant to see that bond, even if she didn't /quite/ share it with Palu; Tam's bird was her partner, her friend, but certainly not her 'baby' and she knew Palu'd be mortified if she'd started to call herself 'momma' or the like.

“Ohh? Really now,” Acacia grinned wickedly, a subtle hint of sweetness eased across her face with the mischievous smirk. “Mmm I would enjoy if you baked for me sometime. I enjoy cookies, but I have to watch my weight so I really don't eat too many sweets.”

Her statement was outright ridiculous, she was thin, almost verging on frail. There was no reason whatsoever that the pale woman should be worried about her weight. Dragging her nails across her cheek Acacia gave the woman across from her a charming gaze, a deep intense stare that was almost a predatory longing. The glint of red from her eyes almost flashed for just a moment as she blinked and turned her gaze downward.

'She is so pretty--- dammit Evalyn stop it! Don't get carried away, you just met her.'

Clearing her throat Acacia let out a small nervous chuckle. “I really would like if you showed me how to cook decent sweets. It would be handy if I could balance out my skill set. Every woman should know how to cook.” Reflected her father's words, her pitch even and airy, she tried to not sound bitter at the revery.

Ampule calmed down instantly as Acacia assured him that he didn't have to eat anything that she cooked, it was a grand relief and at the comment of the other trainer cooking instead made the little blue totodile chuckle loudly. Bending down he grinned towards Palu and picked up his cup slowly nursing the orange liquid. It was delicious.

"Really." Tambrey confirmed, sitting so that her knees went up and her soles were back against the floor again as she smirked nervously for a moment.
Lots of people were ticklish, she knew, but still she always found herself a little anxious when someone else discovered the fact about her.
"Well. Honestly... You have an amazing figure; I doubt you weigh a thing." Tam' answered truthfully, smiling once more. "Anyway. Wonderful. I'd be delighted to bake. I could even bake some cookies to be part of the snacks we take to the contest!" She began to become rather enthusiastic as her mind travelled back around to that.

Tam' tilted her head curiously upon recieving the look, but didn't seem to catch its meaning as she smiled happily back,
"I don't know about that... I mean, some people don't like cooking. But, sure. I mean, everyone should probably know at least a little for survival. I don't think me teaching you baking or you teaching me is something that we /need/ but it's something that I think we'll both appreciate. And, y'know, have a lot of fun with." Her smile was kind again, pleasant and eager. "After the basics, no one /needs/ to know how to cook, but they can sure have fun learning further, right?"

Palu warbled a chuckle at the little Totodile's obvious relief and hopped happily. Fine foods and her trainer would bake. It was shaping up to be a very good thing they'd come into the Rec Room today; a new pokemon friend, a new human friend and her trainer was properly talking and really making a friend of another human. Palu even felt rather proud of her trainer.
She looked to Ampule, though, watching him drink then looked at her orange creme. He seemed to like it a lot. With another happy warble she bent down, took the cup in her beak and tipped it back. Again, some was spilt but what she did drink was even better than the root beer had been!

At the thought of making cookies together Acacia's heart skipped a few beats, it was exciting to think about actually being near someone enjoying their company and sharing memories, making memories that were innocent and fun to reflect upon. She didn't have very many of those. Reclining back the grunt smiled sheepishly. “You know you are completely right, once you know some basic things about cooking you don't have to learn, but it really will be so much fun bonding with a girlfriend. I have to admit I am getting really excited just thinking about all of this.”

Leaning onto her left hand, which she seemed to favor more than her right the thin light-haired medic shifted her weight tapping her fingers eagerly against the soft fibered carpet. “You really think I have a 'great figure', Tamie?” She inquired with skepticism lacing her words. The subject seemed to hit a nerve, as if she needed to make sure that she had heard the other woman correctly. She had a disease, a sickness that wasn't all too uncommon, she was trying her best to stay on the road to recovery it was important that her mental demeanor was unwavering but she knew deep down that she needed encouragement from a friend. Now wasn't the time to bring this up to Tambrey, it was far too soon into the budding relationship to say something so dark and private.

With half lidded eyes Ampule finished his drinks and lightly tittered back and forth, yawning loudly the young Big Jaw pokemon lowered his drum like belly to the floor and curled up hugging his tail and suckling on the very tip of the appendage. “Dile dile dile.” He explained towards Palu, it was well past his nap time and sleep was quickly overcoming his sense. Within a few moments of nursing on his tail, the small pudgy totodile drifted off into a light sleep.

"Good! Me too." Tambrey returned the smile, with a few less sheep but plenty of enthusiasm. It would be a lot of fun to cook and to bake with a friend; she couldn't think of someone else around the base who'd even be remotely interested, not that she knew many people very well.
She blinked, somewhat surprised as she recieved a question which sounded to have some gravity in return for the compliment she'd given.
"Well... Ace, I mean, yes. You're slimmer than paper!" Tam' eyed the other woman curiously. "Honestly, eating a few cookies'll be good for you- if anything you're too thin, but yes, I wouldn't think you'd need to 'watch your weight' beyond, ya know, making sure you don't... disappear or something."
The bookish grunt was of a similar mind- clearly Acacia was pretty much too thin; the medic was pretty, she made her size look good but still she was probably too thin, only it didn't seem like something to seriously bring up and discuss upon just meeting her. Add to that the fact that Ace was pretty much a doctor (or as close to one that Tam' as a Rocket would trust) in her eyes and Tambrey was pretty sure Acacia was aware of such things and might not appreciate her pointing such out.
"Anyway. You look good. And a few baked goods aren't going to do you any harm." Another friendly smile followed.

As Ampule yawned and curled up, Palu hopped towards him and coo'd softly at the little water type. She tilted her head as she watched him suck his tail tip and lowered her eyelids to give a contented stare at the sleeping water type. After a moment, somewhat maternally, the bird warbled a soft song and lowered herself to roost upon the ground; warm feathers against her new friend, while she watched the trainers talking.
