actually...my batmitzvah was one of the less extravagant ones in my town...i live on long island...so ...well...its kinda like that...^_^''...but i went to an amazing one that was the son of the kid who owns mtv so IT WAS TOTALLY COOL! ^_^
y'know, i'm strangely not suprised that mtv is owned by a jew rolleyes
...i don't get it...why?
i dunno. stereotype, i suppose. jews just are generally situated near the top of the capitolist food chain.

True, and you can see that by how when the anti-semetic people (germany... *cough*) make cartoons on the jews, it's probably a big fat rich guy... They just can't admit to the fact jews are smarter and more successful, huh? wink

My barmitzva was nice, but we didn't really show off. My dad really doesn't beleive in flashy parties no matter how important they are... The price of the party doesnt mean anything to the goal of a "bar/bat mitzva".

i hated mine xp

the worst part was the bul baiyom. the food was horrible, and there were far too many poeple there. i'm just not a poeple person (ok, thats a lie. it's impossible for me to have enemies-i've tried. but i really dislike crowds)

It's hard not to hate those huge mass mobs of moving people otherwise known as crowds biggrin ... there were alot of people at my barmitzva, but only about 50% even talked to me for a few seconds... some just wanted to eat cake and stay at the hotel mrgreen

*is now very jealous* I didn't really have any party, or invite many people... Just a few friends and family... and the "party" was family only, at my house sunday morning for brunch... other than that, it was just the Bat Mitzvah and a luncheon... and a small luncheon at that...

hey... who cares about the present? (yea right wink )... It's the memories simha itself you will have forever, right? ;D. THATS what makes all the fuss worth-it wink .

Okay, nervousness is not an issue, but for you parents it will be. The more people they need to invite, the more money and time consuming it becomes. Heck, I am not looking forward to preparing my child's simha (even if I AM looking forward to my children's simha, I'm not looking forward to PREPARING it... but then again, someone has to prepare it, right? xp ).

my memories of my simcha werent so hot....

my best friend and I had always excitedly planned our future bat mitzvahs and what they would be like....she moved recently so it wasnt the same at all, since we had both been so excited about it, and she couldnt come anyway

im pretty independant, i dont like many of the girls in my class....which were basically the only people i invited. so i wasnt around exactly what i call friends.

my mother was very sick at the time and so i had a very small party that my sister planned and she was in charge of it, so my parents werent even there.

i was gonna make tamborines but they never showed up, so at the last minute we went around asking neighbors for things to make jewelry with...

about nervousness, like i said my parents werent nervous because they were not included.

so to me, the whole thing was like 2 hours worth of spending time witha bunch of girls whom i disliked

for my brother's, we just invited about 20 family friends over for shabbos, and turned our kitchen into a mini-catering hall.

guess who the waiter/busboy was xd
