David smiled at Rose "That is the interesting thing about surprises Rose" he chuckled leaning back in his chair slightly, he was going take her to the upper levels to see the gardens, but it might be to mellow for her, This might be harder to do than i thought he thought to himself, he hadn't actually had the chance to think of taking her on a date while they worked. Perhaps the race tracks, a good adrenaline rush could work out most of the kinks in ones system when driving one of the fastest vehicles in the entire spire. The idea thrilled him, but he wasn't sure if Rose would be up for something like that, she wasn't a normal girl, this was evident in her rushed manner and harsh attitude, but it didn't mean she didn't like the things girls liked. Sighing he hung his head slightly as he chewed his latest bite of banana nut waffle, "to be honest i cant think of what you would wanna do today" he said "I was hoping you might give me some suggestions"

Rose groaned at his comment, she wasn’t much for surprises; she liked to know exactly what was going on. She took another bite of her waffle and watched David as he hung his head. She smiled at his statement and said, “Other than spend it with you… Well, it IS a day off, so we should do something fun…" Rain thought a while, eating as she did, taking the last bite of her waffle and coming up with an idea. Most of what Rose liked wasn’t normal for a woman; she liked shooting, target practice, training, and very much concentrating on the job. But she didn’t think that was appropriate for a day off, so she discarded that line of ideas. She thought for a moment longer, trying to think of something fun to do wasn’t supposed to be this hard, was it? Rain finally settled on the race track; it was fun, dangerous, and it was familiar. She looked at David and asked, “Well, how about the racetrack on the lower level? Driving those cars is always a rush.” She wanted to know David’s opinion on the matter, if he didn’t want to, she wouldn’t press the issue.

David nearly chocked on his waffle when he heard her suggest the race track, coughing he drank some of this water as he thought about it, wondering why he was so surprised. he smiled at her as he set down his glass, "sounds like a date" he said with a chuckle and a smile, he should have expected her to like racing, it was so much similar to what she did on a daily basis he should have been more surprised if she didn't like it.

It did not take him long to finish his waffles, even thought he tried to eat slowly and enjoy them he found he had finished them all to soon as he stared at his empty plate and sighed as he stood and took the plate to clean it then working on the rest of the kitchen while she finished starting to get excited for the day, like a child off to the amusement park, he was going out with Rose just to have fun, it was a dream come true.

Rose sighed and dropped her plates off in the kitchen and then went back into the bedroom to get ready. After some debating, Rose decided to dress in a variation of her normal outfit, wearing a black long sleeve shirt, which looked like the vest she had worn the day before but with sleeves, a similar pair of pants, boots and a pair of driving gloves. She walked out into the main room and checked her computer, finding that she had forgotten to shut it off the night before. She stared at the window that was open for a long while, not wanting to open the file she minimized it and checked her email, still no jobs. She sighed and remembered this was supposed to be a day off and she was supposed to have fun.

Half an hour later, Rose and David were on the lowest level and entering the racetrack. Rose approached the counter and the gruff man behind it said,
“How many, betting or driving?” Rose said, “Two, driving, in the derby.” Leave it to humans, but they always had a thing for fast cars and destruction, so why not combine the two; the Spire Demolition Derby. The spire’s demolition derby was different in the fact that it required two people to participate. One person drove, and the other used the specialized gun turrets in the top of the cars to disable the other vehicles; deaths weren’t common, but they did happen. She led David past the booth and into the garage on the right, where she had a choice of three cars. She looked to David and asked, “Pick one. We’re riding together, you’re my driver.”

David rubbed his hands together as they reached the garage and he automatically pointed to the first vehicle, the truck, "Just dont fly out the window" he grinned at her as he took the keys and walked to his side of the vehicle, truing on the car and rubbing the steering wheel as he waited for rose to climb in, he then smiled at her, a smile of pure enjoyment as he revved the engine while he still held the clutch under his left foot, this was another trick that his body seemed to remember better than his brain, and he didn't realize it till several people had commented on it, apparently there weren't many manual vehicles out there so it was awkward it seems to find someone who could operate a stick.

when the signal came for them to head to the main arena David dropped the clutch and floored the gas petal causing the car to leave a dust cloud in its wake as it threw up dirt and debri until it gained traction and they shot off causing David to chuckle until they reached the arena.

Rose sighed and sat down at the table, a small smile on her face as she waited for David to come back with their drinks. They had won the derby, and got out with barely a scratch on their truck; David was one hell of a driver, and Rose was a damn good gunner. And of course, their prize money was going to be spent on drinks, ammo, and repairs. She smiled at David when he sat down and said, “That was fun, you must have been a really amazing driver before you lost your memory.” Rose stared at David as she popped the top off her drink and took a sip, just watching him. She thought about how lucky she was to have met David, and how well they got along, despite their personality differences. She took another sip of her drink and said, “Just don’t think this is going to be an everyday thing, I have a reputation to keep up.” Rose wasn’t exactly lying, she was known as a cold emotionless bounty hunter who you could count on to do a job and do it well; if she broke the guise of cold and emotionless, it could very well ruin her reputation and put her out of business. She didn’t mind right now, she was happy enough as it was.

Rose stared for a bit longer, until something caught her eye; a man sitting at the bar, she recognized him from somewhere. She thought about it for a little bit and realized, he had been following the two of them since they reached the lower levels. She refocused on David and whispered, “Behind you, at the bar, there’s a guy that’s been following us since we got down here…” Rose sat in silence, taking another sip of her drink and waiting to see what David would do; would he confront the man, or would he let him follow them? Rose’s hand rested at her side, ready to pull her pistol out of its holster if anything happened. She wouldn’t let anyone hurt David, not while she was around.

David sipped his drink and turned to look where she was watching not catching sight of anyone particular, he was really having to much fun to actually care. He didn't want to worry about it since there haven't been any death threats against him for the last three years that he could remember, why would they start now? he turned back to Rose and shrugged, She might have been a little jumpy since it was her first day off and her mind probably wasn't used to the idea of actually relaxing. "I don't see anybody I know, but we can try and head some where else to see if he still follows" he said standing, coughing once he winced and placed a hand on his chest, I must be getting a cold he thought clearing his throat and walking over to her side of the table to escort her out, Maybe it is a good idea to head back to the Condo "or perhaps we could head home" he said wondering if his sudden tired feeling was due to the over excite ment or an on coming cold. He didn't want to ruin Rose's day though so he waited for her to chose what she wished to do, if he was getting sick he could push it aside for as long as it took to make her happy.

Rose stood as David did, and she looked at him with a bit of worry; David NEVER got sick, so why the sudden cough and apparent pain? She watched him warily, turning her head back to look at the man who was following them, he was gone. Rose looked around a bit, seeing if he had just moved, but he was gone. She looked back to David and smiled, "Home seems good for now, you look tired… and I’ve certainly had fun. We’ll take a break and if you’re feeling better we’ll head out for dinner… my treat.” Rose turned and walked out of the room with David right beside her. As they were walking outside, Rose noticed the man that was following them again, he seemed to be watching David very carefully. Rose glared at the man and met his gaze; he simply smiled and moved away in the opposite direction she was walking. Rose continued toward the central elevator, David walking right beside her, she noticed he had lost most of the spring in his step and now seemed quite tired and exhausted looking. Rose looked concerned and asked, “David, are you alright? You don’t look so good…”

Davids breathing became slightly labored as they walked out side, and he looked at her when she said something he gave her a smile and winced when the pain in his chest increased and he stopped walking and bent over, coughing, "I cant breathe" he gasped before falling on the ground continuing to cough eventually stopping due to the lack of air he was able to gain through his restricted esophagus.

As David dropped the men that had been following him went into action running for David, intent on grabbing him and taking him away. the man that had been following closely was cocky enough to smile at rose as he was the first to come in hearing distance.
"Pardon us madam, but your date is going to be cut short for now, David will be joining us for the rest of the evening" he said his smile showing his interest in her as his eyes wandered over her body,"but if your free after i wouldn't mind keeping you company"
PostPosted: Sun Jan 23, 2011 5:56 pm

Rose’s eyes opened wide when David said he couldn’t breathe and then fell over. She noticed thugs trying to grab David so she pulled out her pistol and shot two of them. She kicked one that fell on the ground and glared at anyone who looked at her. The man that had been following them sauntered into view and spoke, in a polite manner, but with a slight undertone that gave Rose the shivers. She growled at him as she saw him looking her body over, how dare he look at her like that. “You. You clearly haven’t done your homework. No one crosses me and lives to tell about it." She aimed her pistol at another of the daring thugs and shot him in the face. “If you know what’s good for you, you’ll do two things; tell me what you did to David, and then you’ll get lost and never come back.” The man laughed at her and smiled a big, fake, arrogant smile. She growled back at him and he replied, “Well, I’m afraid I can only tell you that I poisoned his drink, and well… I’m not going anywhere.” The man approached her slowly, still smiling. He stood about a foot away from her and said, soothingly, “Come with me… your friend is already dead… I could make you very happy.” Rose growled again and threw a fist at him; he blocked it and kicked her away. He grabbed David and hoisted him up by the collar, looking at him, and saying, “To have fallen so far… to think he was once…” He never finished his sentence as a bullet whizzed by his head; Rose had her pistol pointed at him and wouldn’t miss a second time. He looked at her, then back to David and said, slightly annoyed, “Fine, take him. I don’t know what you see in an already dead piece of garbage like him.” He tossed David aside and quickly ran away, the rest of his minions either dead or hurt badly.

Rose quickly dropped to David’s side, grabbed him and hoisted him up, carrying him was no problem; he didn’t weigh as much as he looked and Rose could lift more than she seemed to be able to. She moved as quickly as she could, she had to get David to a doctor, and the closest one on the lower level was the doc who used to run with Rose’s father. She nearly kicked the door down trying to get in, sprinted inside and shouted, “Adams! Help!” A man in a bloodstained lab coat came sprinting out of the nearby room and looked at Rose bewildered. Rose laid David down on a nearby table and said, “He’s been poisoned, you have to help him.” The doctor nodded, noticing the worry in Rose's eyes he hadn't seen since her father died, and immediately got to work examining David.

David couldn't really catch sight of any faces as he was paumled there on the ground, unable to fight back since his concentration was on his breathing, not that he would have recognized them even if he had seen them, they were all men from his absent past who had been destroyed by his own need to gain his ends. As the last man grabbed him by the collar he lost what ever breathing abilities he had lost all senses as Rose grabbed him. his body going limp and his mind into limbo as Rose carried him to a trusted Physician.
Adams opened the door and was largly surprised by his latest visitor, "Rose, im surprised you still call me by that name" he said watching her toat in a half dead body and lay it half hazardly on his table without a word, "something special for you i expect?" he asked as he took a look at the male. Opening an eye he noticed the pupil stil dialate, but it was delayed, and judging by the color of the mans lips there was a lack of oxygen being supplied to his brain, "Poison?" he asked already knowing the answer as he rolled up his coat sleaves and headed into another room coming out with a needle and syringe and gave him a shot in the neck, imedeatly the mans cheast heaved like he had been trying to breathe for the longest time, gasping before settling into a regular rythm, "oh good looks like that worked"

Rose breathed a gigantic sigh of relief when David started breathing again. She looked to the doctor and said, “Adams… if he dies… I’m going to kill you… slowly.” Rose turned away, walking out of the room. Trusting the doctor with her own life was one thing, but it took an immense amount of trust to leave David in his care and she wouldn’t have done it if he hadn’t worked with her father. She stood at the front window of the building, looking outside and making sure no one followed or was coming for them. She sighed and closed her eyes in thought, what would she do if David died? What would she do if he died, and it was her fault? If David died here, it was her fault and she wouldn’t forgive herself for it. When she opened her eyes, a single tear trickled down her face. “Sadness…” She thought, “...Emotions are overrated…” Rose wiped her face gently and continued looking out the window. The man she loved had been poisoned, he could die, and it would be all her fault; it was always her fault. She sighed again and looked back towards the room where David was, should she go back in there and comfort David? Should she be there for him when he wakes up? Rose was so confused, emotions clouded her judgment; her normal sharp instinct was dulled when she thought about David. Normally Rose would simply stay at the window and watch for any attackers, but now… now Rose was considering abandoning her post and staying by David’s side and making sure he was going to be okay. She knew she wasn’t needed in the room, but the idea of David waking up or dying and her not being there scared her. She looked out the window one last time and sighed, walking back into the room, grabbing a chair and sitting next to David, waiting for him to wake up again.

Adams simply mumbled in reply he paid attention to the unconscious man on his table checking his pulse, blood pressure, body temperature, watching for any and all changes. he rarely lost a patient, most cases they were because the person had been to far gone for him to help before they had arrived to his office. "not bad timing," he mumbled mostly to himself because if he knew Nathan's daughter well enough he knew he would not get a reply.
As he worked he found he was having a slightly hard time finding any symptoms of a poison, the swelling might have been the first stage and maybe the intended killing agent in the drug. Scratching his head he took a good look at the man wondering if he could be large enough of a target... David's face suddenly was twisted in pain
"Rose" he muttered and Adams paled slightly, "holy s**t, how did they get a hold of that stuff" he shouted as he jumped from his chair and bolted out of the room. coming back almost immediately after seeming to rush as he injected another drug into the mans body and waited.

David found himself lying on a beach, an oceanic beach, although the waves that crashed over him did not taste of salt, not the acidic substance that it had changed into since the apocalypse, blinking he noticed there was no sun either, slowly he rolled onto his hands and knees and then stood whipping the sand and water from his face before looking to the shore, instead of palm trees or rocks he noticed a wall of brier bushes layered out before him with a single rose that blossomed among the thorns, "Rose" he mumbled smiling slightly as he reached for the blossom not caring about the thorns that dug into his skin he gently stroked the petals of the rose for a moment he stood their thinking of her, her emerald eyes rich dark hair, her strong set expression wondering where she was for a moment before he felt something wrap around his leg and before he could do anything he was yanked backwards from the rose pulled through the tangles of briers leaving several cuts all over his body and through his clothes, "David" a whisper came from behind him and several hands grabbed him at once, moans and cries coming from the ocean of hands that pulled him into the now burning acidic water he had just climbed from He let out a slight cry as his hands left tracks in the sand as it turned into sharp shards of glass, "Rose" he could still see the red rose barely a hands span from his outstretched and bleeding fingers, "there is no peaceful life available to you," a voice acidic in tone sounding like the man that had slipped him the poison "look what you have become" it hissed and David found himself in a dark room no more cuts or scrapes or burns just him in his tattered clothes, "a common worker, a begger, when you once where a king of thieves, Pity," a figure stood before him holding a rose, "a simple flower can keep you from the most promising of dreams, Maybe it was of the best that they tried to get rid of you" the rose fell from the figures hand and landed on the ground in front of David petals scattering slightly "why don't you REMEMBER" the voice echoed around him as a foot came down on the rose.

David opened his eyes sweating as he looked around quickly he sat up and rubbed his face his hands shaking slightly as his breathing came fast. a sigh if relelif came from his left as he turned to see the man in the lab coat colapse in his chair a slight smile on his face. David turned again as he sensed someone else on the other side "Rose" he breathed and dropped his hands happy to see her okay. "I had the weirdest dream" he sighed rubbing his face again, "why am i sitting on a table?"
PostPosted: Tue Feb 01, 2011 7:20 pm

Rose sat in silence and watched as Adams worked on David, she couldn’t help but stare, unsure of what she could do. For yet another time in her life, Rose was forced to sit by and watch as someone she loved was in danger of dying. She sighed again and looked up from her stare when she heard David’s voice, she couldn’t help it, she almost flung herself at him, wrapping her arms around him and holding him tightly and saying, “You were poisoned you a**. I brought you to a doctor.” Rose let go and stared at David, her expression now hard and glaring, “Don’t you EVER do that to me again, or I’ll kill you myself.” She softened her expression and said, “But only after I kill the ones responsible.” She smiled lightly and hugged David again, before turning to the doctor and said, “Is he okay? Can we leave now?” She was glaring at the doctor now; she knew they wouldn’t really be safe until they got back up to the higher levels of the spire.

For a moment David could not say anything as rose wrapped her arms around him and for a moment he wrapped his own around her before letting her go as she pulled back, Poison? he thought his face serious for a moment before he smiled at her "okay, no dying on the list, not that i wanted to die in the first place" he said looking to the doctor as she asked the man, totally at loss as to who he was.

Adams had already started to clean up as the two had the time to themselves and waved his hand at rose when she asked the question, "yeah yeah, Im done with him, he will live" Adams said pausing for a moment and turning to David, "Im gonna take a blood sample though" he said as he stuck David and filled the syringe within a few seconds pulling back with a half full sample. Then ignoring them leaving them to leave when ever they felt like it.
