"If you think I'm gonna fall for--" And then she downed it. Ohhh Arceus. Lucas could do little more than sigh and bring his hand to his face. Well, it wouldn't be the first time he had been assigned by default to watch over a raving drunk. At least she wasn't the violent or inconsolable sort.
"All right then, uh... Any chance you'll just sit there until it blows over and not do unsafe drunk things?"

She was giggling madly again, but managed to lean over to set her glass on the floor. Unfortunately she had no sense of balance so she set the glass down at an angle, and it inevitably fell over.
More unfortunately she herself was at an angle, and as soon as he said 'drunk things' she burst into another fit of giggles, falling over into Lucas' lap. She didn't seem to have even noticed she'd fallen yet.
"Pfff-- Unsafe drunk things? What d'you mean? I told you m'not drunk you silly!" He was so funny! She never knew what he'd say next.
She paused suddenly, her face changing to a curious look before she stared up at Lucas as if he'd performed some sort of amazing, inexplicable magic trick she couldn't figure out to save her life. "When did you get sideways?"

On the bright side, if he ever felt the inclination to blackmail her, he now had the perfect information to do so. Not that he had any idea who would tell, or why he would want or need to blackmail her in the first place.
And then when she collapsed into his lap and asked her drunken question, he stared back at her with what was possibly the straightest face he had ever had in his life and responded, "I am a magician."

She was too drunk to remember how she could blackmail him - or rather, Luke specifically - but that thought didn't cross her mind. She studied his face carefully, eyes narrowing suspiciously before she giggled a bit. A pause, then she burst into another fit of giggles. "No way, you're jus' messing with my head! Why do you always like to mess with my head? I's not nice," she teased, wagging an accusing finger in his face as she continued to giggle. "You always mess with my head!"
She was still in his lap, but she suddenly gasped and in an instant, was up on her hands and knees on the couch and watching him suspiciously again. She opened her mouth to accuse him of something, probably of really being a magician and never telling her, but her left arm buckled and she suddenly fell off the couch with an "eek!"
She laid on the floor for a few seconds, looking all around as if some incredibly suspicious thing had just happened. "What just happened?" No, she knew what happened - something had pushed her off the couch. How rude!

"You've got no proof that I'm not, right?" He raised a smug eyebrow. It was fun to mess with people from time to time. Her use of the word 'always' sailed straight over his head. She was drunk, after all.
He moved to steady her when she started to topple, but he could do little to prevent the end result. He watched her for a moment; it seemed that she was all right, which was good. If not a little confused. A small smirk surfaced on his face.
"Never doubt a magician," he warned, moving to offer a hand to help her back up.

She accepted his hand to help her up, and staggered to her feet before flopping back onto the couch, nearly falling over again but managed to right herself before she did. She continued to look at him quite suspiciously - apparently her poker face completely disappeared while she was drunk. "I guess not," she replied levelly. "But that wasn't nice to push me off the couch." No, not nice at all.
She pouted and crossed her arms, slouching comfortably on the couch as she studied him more with a thoughtful, still suspicious expression. "M'kay," she started, "I don't have proof you're not - so prove that you are. Do a magic trick. Go on," she encouraged, setting her chin in the palm of her right hand, resting that same elbow on her leg as she watched him. Her expression was smug, obviously certain he wouldn't be able to prove it.

"Aha, sorry, it was an accident." He grinned. "You have to be careful what you say to a magician. Our powers can have minds of their own."
He hummed thoughtfully at her request for a magic trick. He didn't really know any... He could do simple illusions, though. "Okay, look at this." He extended his arm and positioned himself so that his fingertips were just in front of Claire's shoulder. He then raised his arm at the elbow and paused for effect. When he brought it back down to its previous position, his fingertips were a few inches short of reaching her shoulder. It was a simple trick with a simpler explanation, but it never failed to amaze those who had never seen it.

She crossed her arms, humphing to herself. Her stress ball had fallen unnoticed on the floor, and probably found a hiding spot beneath the couch. "What do you mean?" An accident? Seriously? "What sort of magician can't control his own powers?"
Unfortunately for Lucas, Claire had seen it before, but her reaction wasn't exactly indicative of this. The young woman grinned before bursting out into another fit of the giggles, her arms curving around her thin stomach as she leaned forward and against the back of the couch. Again she managed to roll over, this time on her side and not in Lucas' lap. Violet eyes stared up at him incredulously. "You're no magician, I've seen people do that before. Stop messin' with my head! Why d'you always do that?" She asked, giggling still. "You really like messin' with me, don't you?"

"Never said I was a good magician," he explained with a sagely nod. He watched her as she rolled about, specifically keeping an eye on her arm. It would be easy to forget its delicate state and do something to injure it again.
He folded his arms in mock indignation. "Well, they must have stolen it from me, then! That's definitely my trick." This time he took note of her accusation that he often messed with her and connected it to the last time she had said something similar. "Come on, I don't mess with you that much, right?" In fact, he couldn't really remember a previous time that he had.

She stopped giggling for a bit to digest his words. No, he'd never claimed he was a good magician. Just that he was a magician. It was very clear and obvious that he wasn't a good magician at all. "That's true," she said finally with a decisive nod, her senses too dulled by the alcohol to realize she had a killer headache. She would feel it later, for certain.
With a huff she tried to push herself back into a sitting position on the couch, but at his next statements she couldn't help falling back into a giggling fit, and back into his lap. She hadn't seemed to notice that latter fact yet, her speech was only slurred a little bit. "What're you talkin' about Luke? You always mess with my head!" Why didn't he get it? He messed with her head by just existing.
The words 'still crazy' would have popped into her head if she wasn't thoroughly and happily drunk.
"Y'do it all the time!" She said, giggling more. She paused again, studying him closely, then lowered her voice to a whisper, as if confiding some closely guarded secret. "...you're sideways again, y'know."

"Have you always called me Luke?" He couldn't recall that she ever had except for-- Ohhhh. All things suddenly fell into place. Lucas was dreaming. Dream Claire called him Luke. Perfect sense.
Or not. But it was the best explanation he had at the time.
He chuckled quietly at her whispering and turned his head and torso to try and match her angle. It was an awfully uncomfortable position for a dream. "Better?"

"No," she admitted with another giggle, still unaware of the fact she was sprawled over his lap for the second time. "Only since the other day! Remember? Pfff -- Leighton," she managed to add between stifled giggles before erupting into another fit, arms around her stomach again.
She was just managing to stop when he twisted himself to try and match her angle, sending her into another giggle fit. Her sides were starting to ache from giggling and laughing so much, and tears sprung into the corners of her eyes as well, her cheeks still pink from overindulgence in alcoholic beverages. Maybe next time she'd remember to ask him if a drink was alcoholic before downing two of them in such a short period of time. Hopefully.

Leighton? Lucas would have been more confused if he hadn't already decided he was dreaming. Granted, he was already fairly confused trying to figure out when exactly it was that he had fallen asleep. Certainly not during Rambo, but there had been little other opportunity... Or maybe he had fallen asleep during the movie but had seen it so many times that his dream was able to fill in the rest.
"I have no idea what you're talking about," he said with a laugh, resting his elbows on the top of the couch's back. Damned if he was going to have his hands anywhere near a drunk girl half his age who had inadvertently rolled into his lap. There was no telling when someone might wander in unannounced, or who that someone would be.

"What d'you mean, you have no idea?" She scoffed between giggles. Unfortunately Lucas was not, in fact, dreaming. Even if he was, other men would probably think nothing less of him if he felt the desire to put his hands anywhere near a girl who fell willingly - or unknowingly? At the very least, unintentionally - into his lap. They would probably be envious. Hey, it was a dream, after all. Supposedly.
"You mean you don't remember? In the gym, remember?" How could he not remember?! Oh wait, this was Lucas, he frequently didn't remember things.
This thought puttered about in her head for a good half a minute at least before she realized something.
This was Lucas!
"Oh, no wonder you don't remember! You're not Luke, nevermind," she said with another giggle. Of course, it was so simple!

"I remember the gym," he said. "You told me I was dreaming. I assume that means I'm dreaming now." He said 'assume' as though he wasn't completely and thoroughly convinced.
He saw the realization dawn on her face and laughed. "Well darn, and here I was getting used to the name. How'd you manage to mix me up with someone else anyway? You must be drunk, right?" Ahh, if only he could get her to realize it, maybe she'd be willing to go to bed or something.
