Skye smiled in thanks. "Soon," she answered. "I'm graduating in a month." She was glad that this girl was able to fix it. Explaining to her professors that her notebook wasn't working anymore was getting really tiring. Everyone stared at her strangely when she entered class with only pencil and paper. "My name is Skye," she said, sticking her hand out toward the pink-haired girl, nodding towards the man. "Pleased to meet you." She wondered briefly whether she had startled him when she entered the store. A popping noise broke through the room. She raised her head calmly at the sudden noise and glanced towards the doorway. Seconds passed, and she tried to breathe quieter. It was disturbing hearing gunshots so close by. The screams of many people did not comfort her much. She raised her eyebrows in a questioning sort of look and turned towards the girl and then towards the stranger who appeared in the doorway, asking if they were ok. He seemed friendly. "Yes," Skye nodded, hoisting her guitar case back onto her shoulders. Without being aware of it, she had dropped it on the ground. "Thank you."

"That's awesome!" Robyn replied cheerfully, carefully extracting the damaged holoprojector from its case. She looked up at Skye. "It doesn't seem like anything's wrong with it. I'll just have to replace the neobulb, and once that's done, your screen should be working fine again, too." Robyn rubbed her oily hands on her trousers before taking Skye's and shaking it warmly. "Nice to meet you, Skye. The name's Robyn Gizmo." Suddenly, there were gunshot outside. Robyn's eyes narrowed. Those shots... it could only be another Egg problem. "Stay quiet," she warned, reaching into her back pocket and pulling out a gun that Daren had given her a while ago. She crept out from behind the counter and pressed herself against the door as everything went quiet. Those damn Eggs were trouble, and if they had locked onto her signal, she was toast, and so were Skye and Pierce. The door opened and Robyn flashed in front of the perpetrator. But it wasn't an Egg. Her face fell (think -.-) as Jake walked in. "You guys okay?" he asked, winking at Robyn, whose cheeks turned as pink as her hair. "You know you almost gave me a heart attack...?" she mumbled, crossing her arms and walking back over to the counter, where she resumed work on the holoprojector. "I'd appreciate it if you called me next time before scaring the crap outta me."

Pierce turned on the Navi pad and let it boot up and update his current position. As it came on he pulled out the card that the Guy at the hotel had given him. He pulled it out and read the location. He entered the location into the device, he then noticed something, the read Daren and Robyn Gizmo. That's why it seemed so familiar! But there probably could have been hundreds of "Robyn"s in the city for all he knew. He looked at the pink haired girl, she definitely bore some resemblance the guy who must have been Daren.
He opened his mouth to ask her when suddenly gunshots rang from outside. Pierce tensed and shoved the card back into his pocket. No way! Those stupid robots must be out there. He turned to tell the other two girls that they should all probably get out of here, however he stopped short when Robyn hefted a fancy looking pistol. He was slightly intimidated by the professional why she held it. Then, the door opened and a man in something resembling a law-enforcement uniform walked in. "You guys okay in here?" He asked. He then gave a sly wink at the two young women. Pierce relaxed. He had half-expected the sadistic robots to burst through the doorway and pepper them all with rounds. He was starting to get just a little paranoid he realized, he shut off his Navi pad and stuck it back into his pack. He still was bothered by the fact that he had not payed for the service and he definitely meant to.

I do this for, Its just for the thrill, I got this high, were bout to get a feel This move has got me way over the sun Im dancing like I am the only one Coz I cant get enough, I cant get enough Janessa Elaine Sutherland
Janessa took the device that Robyn had nearly shoved in her face excitedly and examined it. Yes, it did appear to be some sort of oven, that wasn't too surprising considering the fact that the pink haired girl loved her baking. She looked at the parts she had used to make it, thinking on this girls new invention. If Robyn was intending on making a full scale model of this thing, she'd need the space and equipment to build it. That wouldn't be a problem, no. Ness wouldn't mind helping Robyn out with that.
Needless to say, Ness was distracted by this wonder oven to even notice that her door had clanged open back in the shop. While Mr.Kogg made his way upstairs behind Robyn, she fiddled with the little oven. After all, Robyn had told her that she couldn't get the radiation level right. After a bit of tuning everything else out, Ness had managed to get the oven in proper working order, or what should be a proper working order. She didn't have any cake batter to test the 'cook a cupcake in mere second's' theory.
She looked up from her work and heard some gunfire. Great, just peachy. That was bound to mean more tedious work of repairing massive items for the city. True, she loved to build and repair things, but there was a stress limit. These robots shouldn't be allowed to rogue like that. They needed to be stopped. Ness took the little oven with her back up stairs behind the counter. "Ah, Robyn...I think I've got your oven working for you..." She said to her as she noted that she was off fixing a holoprojector.
Ness laughed under her breath. "Girl, there you go taking my work....you might as well have a job here..." She noted with a small smirk, noting that an 'officer' was peeking his head through her door. Ness sighed. "Hey..Any idea of when those Rogue Eggs will be take care of?" She directed the question to him. She'd really like to know. Ah, if only every robot was like Mr.Kogg.
I cant stay on the ground (woah) I cant get enough, I cant get enough This is taking me now Its taking me higher, higher Higher off the ground The musics got me going higher I feel like I can touch the sky

"I left you like 50 messages the other day. Still haven't received a call back." Jake replied as he shifted his weapon just a tad, eyeing Pierce just a little. He was new. Jake Defi could tell.
When you worked, fought, lived, and ate in the same city you sort of developed an invisible bond with every living and non-living being in the city. That you've seen them somewhere before, or you've bumped into some of the service bots. Service Bots looked the same. They all looked the same, there were no differences to them except their serial code, which also turned out to be their identification "name". But even that became familiar. BR34591889 was the Service Bot in the west sector of the city. DH95509143 was the Service Bot in the Lower class regions of the city. PD80896782 was the Service Bot who helped out the Police Department 24/7. Things like that.
So one look at Pierce and he immediately found himself wanting more. The fact that someone knew was in a shop near the crime scene? It was either coincidence or suspicious. Most of the time it was the former more than the latter.
Now Skye, he's seen before. Playing music and all. His duties took him almost everywhere. Finding time to flirt with her was...hard, but for the most part he usually just watched from afar before being called away. Maybe he had his chance now?
A question was directed at him. It came from the owner of the Robotics Shop they were all currently in. Jake rubbed the back of his neck, and looked at Janessa Sutherland. Cute girl...in fact, there was never a shortage of cute girls in Megalopolis. Too bad nearly a quarter of them saw through his acts of flirtatious luring and turned him down flat out. "Never if we don't actually investigate and n** this problem in the butt. Or you can help me protest to the higher ups on giving me 500 well-armed, well-trained men with up-to-date weapons. THEN we'll have the city cleared of eggs in a few days. Another week and we'll be at the core of this problem and putting an end to it." It was the answer he always gave them. There was really nothing he could do about it. "At least we Cops are doing something about it, instead of creating some stupid...Secure living zone and hiding behind that."

"Yeah, well..." Robyn replied sulkily, walking back behind the counter and nudging Ness good-naturedly. "C'mon, you were totally doing me a favor by looking at my thingiewhiz... figured I should return the good deed, huh?" she replied with a smirk before Ness asked Jake about the Eggs. She rolled her eyes as he began complaining about the lack of police involvement around here... like he always did. "...At least we Cops are doing something about it, instead of creating some stupid...Secure living zone and hiding behind that." he said. Robyn's eyes narrowed. "Listen, punk," she said, stalking over to him and stabbing a finger in his chest. "You know Daren is doing the best he can under these conditions! Does it look like we have 500 people who are willing to fight against these psycho killing machines? No! If we didn't have the secure living zone, then everyone would be dead. Dead! I don't think that's what you want, Jake, or is it? Keeping everyone in a place where everything at least feels safe is the best thing we can do at this point. God, I... I feel like a broke record!" If there was one thing that made her mad, then it was when other people complained about her brother's efforts. It wasn't as though he wasn't doing anything about the Eggs. Jake's little contributions were helpful and all, but the fact that they didn't have any funding for the research was a pretty strong setback. And the MSP wasn't doing anything about it, either. So the fact that anyone, even Jake, was saying somthing about the security unit was maddening. Besides... both siblings were touchy about the subject as it was, since they had their own prejudices about the MSP as a whole, and the fact that they were working... pretty much for free, and that they weren't having any kind of freedom, and... oh, the list was endless.

Skye put her hand gently on Robyn's arm. She hated when people argued about pointless matters such as this. It was such a waste of breath. "I'm glad you guys aren't out fighting the eggs." She said. She didn't know who Darren was, but he seemed to be someone especially important to her. "If everyone did that, the casualties would be enormous. We already have enough people dying as it is." "That being said," She turned to the man in the doorway. "Insulting people is not the most tactful manner of entry. If there is anything we could help with, I'm sure we would all be willing to oblige."

"No. No, no no no no..." He gently pushed Skye aside so he could talk to Robyn. Normally he would have jumped on the opportunity to flirt/talk with a hot girl like Skye but countless times of arguments on the matter has pushed him to the brink, and now he was going to let it out. "You're not getting out of this one. These Eggs have been a problem for months. People are dying and we can't stop them, don't even know who's controlling them." Jake paused and stepped forward. "Do you know what happens when we reach a certain limit of casualties? Our Police Department has a back-up plan where we raid Megalopolis's Core room, controlled and guarded by Eggs, by the way, and reach the Emergency communications relay back to Earth. Then set the City's shield so anything organic can leave, and enter as they please."
He paused again and turned back around, his hands gripping tightly to the salvaged Eggs, and his weapon. "Probably none of us would come out of it alive. Then when Earth gets the message they send out they're Earth Defense Force. A full military force sent for the purpose of destroying the Eggs even if it means destroying the city..." Officer Jake Prior turned around and gave Robyn a glare. "You want to hide in your little...space...bubbles. Fine. Just don't come crying to my grave when the EDF decides to scrap Megalopolis and rebuild." Jake had worked himself up into an angry fit. He tossed the salvaged robots into a corner near the door and walked out into the still empty streets.

"Yeah, right!" Robyn shouted after him. "You know perfectly well that nothing happens with Daren's say so, and no one here is stupid enough to go out looking for Eggs... that is, except for you," she added with a smug grin. "And besides, it's not you they're looking for. It's me." She looked at the robot in the corner where Jake had dumped them and frowned, walking over. These seemed new, like they had just been made. It seemed like the Heralds were making technological advances as they spoke. s**t... she thought, going back behind the counter. s**t, s**t, s**t...l
--
Finally! Daren thought as the end of his shift drew near. I feel like my arms have grown into this damn counter... Grabbing his cellphone from the desk drawer, he put on his jacket and headed fro the clocking-out machine. Right on time, as always, and Robyn was probably over at Sutherland Robotics or something, talking to Ness. Flipping open his phone, he began dialing the all too familiar numbers. "Yeah, it's me," he replied once Robyn had answered. "Yeah... uh huh, I figured, it was all over the news... what?? Jake?? You're kidding... ugh, again? Robyn, why can't you ever just walk away from a fight when it's over your head... well then, if he insulted me then maybe you should let me take care of that, ever consider that?... Alright, I'll be there in a few. See ya." Sighing, he pocketed the phone and began walking down the streets, the orange of the sunset lighting up the skyline as he headed over to the west side of the city. Robyn, the most pig-headed girl in Mega.

As the conversation started to get more and more tense, Pierce decided to take a sudden interest in his shoes. He had no idea, what he should do. He still had to talk to this girl about this MSP business however he also didn't want to intervene in this excited argument. He began to feel the awkward feeling setting in. Pierce collapsed on the bench laying his feet across and acting as if nothing abnormal were occurring around him. He pulled out his Card in preparation for paying the girl.

Skye collapsed on the bench next to Pierce. "I hate arguments like this," She sighed, propping her guitar up next to her. They were such a waste of time and nothing ever came out of them. If that man wasn't an officer, she would punch him in the face. Why did he just randomly come in and start accusing people? It was the most nonsensical thing to do ever. She twisted the strap of her guitar case around her fingers, fighting the urge to do so. They were so loud. "Sorry," she said turning to the man besides her. "I didn't catch your name. I'm Skye, but you probably knew that. So what's New London like? I truly hope it is more peaceful than it is here."

Pierce looked up as the blonde girl fell onto the bench. He pulled his knees up to give her more room. "I hate arguments like this," Pierce just nodded and started playing with his Card. "Sorry, I didn't catch your name. I'm Skye," She said "but you probably knew that. So what's New London like? I truly hope it is more peaceful than it is here." "Call me Pierce." He answered. "New London isn't as focused on beauty like things seem to be here. More on just functionality. I dunno, it seems like everyone there just lives. Not much focus on anything but day to day affairs. It's not so bad though, and yeah at least there aren't these... What are they called, Eggs?" Oh yeah... Eggs. Now Daren's comment made sense.

"That sounds like a nice place." Skye paused for a moment. "I've never really been anywhere before, pretty much lived here my whole life. But one day, I'd like to go there and see it. The eggs... I hear stories about them but this time is the first time they've attacked so close." She wondered what Robyn meant when she said that they were after her. Why would the eggs be after her? Seeing how she argued freely with an officer, she wondered if Robyn was really only a girl who ran a store and fixed things. Something seemed strange. Perhaps Pierce also was part this. Skye was confused. Regardless, it was awkward listening to the two of them argue. She tried to continue talking to Pierce, but conversations were not her strongest point. "Are you currently living around here?"

Pierce was momentarily distracted. "Are you currently living around here?" was the question asked. He shook his head to bring himself back to reality. He smiled, "Nah, just staying in the city for a couple weeks. Just graduated and my parents decided to kick me out of the house for a while. You know how it is." Pierce looked over at Robyn and she definitely didn't look like she was in the mood to negotiate with right now. "So, Skye, you play?" He said conversationally motioning at the instrument in her hands. "I tried learning once. I didn't have the patience for it sadly."

"Yeah, I know what you mean. Congrats on your graduation." Skye answered. "The guitar?" She asked, when he gestured towards the instrument. "Yeah sometimes. I usually sing though but I can play other instruments if necessary. Our guitarist was out with a fever today so I had to take his place." There was a lull in the conversation. Pierce seemed easily distracted, constantly looking around the room as if for something to jump off of. "Let me guess... you parkour?" Skye asked hesitantly.
