Music? Nature itself. Or... classical, opera... those are my favorites. I guess, you could say I listen to pretty much anything with very few exceptions.

D finishes up with the apple and pushes her plate away from her with a contented sigh.

I haven't had that particular dish in a while.
PostPosted: Thu Jan 13, 2011 9:20 am

Kris seems lost in thought for a moment as he imagines the sound of nature. He had never thought of it as music but he could see how someone else might. Just like the sound of quantum mechanics was almost poetic to him but few others would say the same.

Hmm... I respect that... you find music in the simple things in life. Heh, where I come from, the people could care less for simple. Anyway, that was a wonderful meal!

And, if you ever get tired of hearing something down here, I can change it, just tell me.

Kris pushes a button on a control in his pocket and the music turns off. He glances at D. Want to take that tour yet?

((Gomen nasai! stressed I didn't forget you! I've been a bit busy))

I've seen many people who can't or won't appreciate the simple things. I feel badly for them. The tour sounds great, let me take care of these dishes first.

D picks up the plates, disappears into the kitchen, washes them and sets them in the strainer by the sink. She then heads back out of the kitchen and pauses near the door, waiting for you to catch up.

I need to see if Gig is about ready to come back anyway.

(( Heh, don't worry about it. This is not a required fast post RP. I am busy too! ))

Kris seems to find the fact that D is approaching the door somewhat strange. He tilts his head sideways slightly and then back.

Oh, you wanted to start on the grounds? Not a lot to see back there so I thought you would want to start out inside. Now, if you want me to take you around the outside first then that will be okay if a bit boring. Heh

D stops mid stride and turns and stammers a bit.

O..o..oh! Heh. I thought we would start with the outside, but that's ok if there isn't that much to show out there. Let me check for Gig really quick and then we can start the tour, yes?

Without really waiting for an answer she goes to the door and opens it just far enough to peek out and lets out a whistle that you might be surprised to hear from someone in human form.

Before too long Gig comes running in and climbs up into D's arms. D rubs Gig's chin and head as she walks back over to you.

((I'm assuming there is a sign somewhere outside that says this is an inn. If not, I'll change the part about that in my post. Also, anyone know what time of day it is/is it winter? Oh, and I'm exciting to be posting! ^^))
((EDIT: Okay! I'll change this slightly so that she comes in and you guys are already on the tour. Then I'll just wait for you guys to come back.))

Bertie knows that she needs to find shelter soon, but she can't seem to bring herself to stop. She is running between the trees that are slowly beginning to become less dense. Her pace is steady. This isn't a sprint, but it isn't a jog either. If anyone were to be watching, which Bertie is certain no one other than the trees and the animals are, it would appear as if her running were as natural as walking. She isn't panting or struggling for air. There are no signs of tiring. Dirt and natural debris appear untouched as her feet pass over the ground, but her feet are making contact with the earth. She isn't flying after all.

As she runs, her thoughts flit about as she ponders the possibility of stopping. Before she can come to any conclusion, her ears perk up beneath the golden hood that shields them from the outside. Her pale eyebrows furrow with confusion. What a strange sound... And then she sees it. There is a building up ahead. She is no longer following a natural path; a cobblestone path leads her. The large building frightens her a bit and her pace slows to a walk. Her keen blue eyes catch sight of a door closing, so she believes someone must be inside. She believes that she has been given an answer to her question concerning shelter. Best not to argue with fate.

Brushing off her clothes in a somewhat nervous manner, Bertie can feel her heart pounding in her chest. The thought of meeting someone new makes her anxious and a bit scared. But she knows she cannot stay outside forever. Well, she could, but if someone were to come out of those doors they would think her quite strange. Taking a deep breath, she knocks and then immediately wonders if that was appropriate. She did see a sign indicating that the building is some kind if inn, but she couldn't bring herself to just walk in. Her small hand only managed to make a small, timid sound on the door, so she quickly rectified her awkward mistake and proceeded to simply let herself in.

Unfortunately, there is no one to greet her. She hesitated too long outside. Not wanting to venture in farther, alone and possibly unwelcome, she decides to simply stand in the entrance and wait. For how long? She hasn't decided yet...

Without really waiting for an answer she goes to the door and opens it just far enough to peek out and lets out a whistle that you might be surprised to hear from someone in human form.

Before too long Gig comes running in and climbs up into D's arms. D rubs Gig's chin and head as she walks back over to you.

Kris tilts his head sideways as if quite confused but then shakes himself back to normal. In his own mind, he knew that he really hadn't seen much outside there last time he had been out and about but perhaps there was something out there besides the beach.

Ah. That is... well, I guess I only saw the beach before but I am not one of these emotional, long walk on the beach type of guys. We can always go check that out but the real stuff is inside.

He watches as Gig comes running in and leaps on to you which made him smile. He had always liked animals but for some reason the nano machines had been much more easy to train.

Alright then, let's go take a look around and I will show you around the parts you have not already seen.

Kris talks briefly about the stage and its equipment and then moves on to the kitchen, again, taking a very brief moment to explain since this was already visited. He then makes his way through a hallway just to the south of the diner area that lead off to the right if one were walking through the front door. This leads off to a hallway that has a door directly across from the hall entrance, one slightly past the first door and two other doors near the back of the hall.

Opening the first door they see, D is led into a nicely stocked library with several bookshelves. The room is only about 15 feet by 15 feet but it features book cases that rise all the way to the roof of the room, some twelve feet high. Next to each bookshelf is a movable ladder on wheels which will make it easier to reach the higher shelves. in the middle of the room was a small sitting area with two fluffy armchairs and two couches for easy comfort and reading as well as a small desk and chair along the wall should someone wish to use a desk.

Here is our library, being that I am a wonderful fan of literature, I made sure to stock this place with classics from this world and Gaia's world as well as plenty of wonderful books over physics and other sciences and various literary favorites of my own. These are free for anyone to borrow but I do ask that you write the book you checked out and your room number on that paper when you take a book so if I need it or someone else wanted it, I would know where to find it. Of course, if you read it here, you don't have to worry about checking it out... on to the next spot I suppose?

Kris shuts the door to the library and continues down the hall to the next room. Upon opening this door, the smell of chlorine and water as well as a more humid but still comfortable air emerges. D now finds a small swimming pool about 20 feet long and then, a step up to a higher level leads to a hot tub with an overhead skylight. There are two small dressing rooms with lockers and a towel station for getting clean towels and dropping used towels.

This is the aquatic center as you can tell. It offers you a nice space to either dip your toes in or jump right in and swim. It's free for use for anyone in the building and the towels are checked daily. There is no lifeguard but I am sure the residents can be trusted to watch themselves. The hot tub gets up to a toasty 150 degrees so be mindful of that when you are trying to max out the hot water, heh. Our little tour is halway over now.

Kris then leads D back to the hall and down to the last two doors. The first door seems oddly familiar to D but she is not sure why. The letters are no longer on the door but one can make out some of the faint outline of the letters that once adorned this plaque "N I _ K _ _AN_ES".

Kris opens the door and the thought of being here before certainly strikes D with some faint sense of memory. The room is larger than the other bedrooms and features a full living area as well as a desk and an old bookshelf. The desk is organized neatly with a few pencils and blank sheets of paper. It looks cozy like a home but without much character. there is a larger, upraised bed in the back with Tatami mats similar to the others but Kris does not step on them.

This office used to belong to the Assistant Manager, a very tidy gal but kind of kept to herself. I don't really know if I will need an Assistant Manager or not but this room will be there if I do. I was surprised to find how little stuff was left in here, looks like the former owner was very good at caring for it.

(( I will stop the tour here momentarily as this may be a spot for you RP and I won't want to take it away from you. smile ))

That's good, I like to swim but am weary of the ocean. I find a good swim and then relaxing in the hot tub is a great way to release stress.

D listens to what you are saying, but doesn't really hear you... she hears you say assistant manager and her gaze flows around the room.

Suddenly D's eyes go wide and she turns and runs from the room, no explanation or anything. You hear her footsteps as she runs to the front door, the door opening and closing and possibly even her footsteps as she goes down the path toward the beach.

Bertie finds herself waiting longer than she normally would have in such a situation. Something about the feel of this building makes her want to stay and see who is inside. If one were to see her waiting they would see a person patient and calm. She doesn't fidget while she stands. She doesn't rock back and forth, and she doesn't feel the need to lean up against a wall or sit down. She has no reason to feel impatient.

When she hears the sound of footsteps coming in her direction, her ears perk up underneath her hood for the second time. Her eyes soon pick up the image of a person, running. Her heart begins to beat nervously once again as she begins to think of the words she will use to introduce herself. However, all she is able to do is open her mouth slightly, as the person--she can now see it is a woman--runs past her without stopping. In a flash, she is out the door. Bertie can't help but jump ever so slightly as the door slams. What was that? Maybe I shouldn't here here...

Kris thinks back long and hard about the place having a garden. He had remembered a large stone area on the edge of the inn but until now, he had assumed it was an outside fountain. His expression changed and lightened.

Oh yes... you know, now that you mention it, there is a large stone area out on the side of the building. It looked like a fountain but it could be a garden. I am not too good with plants though... but if you would like to make a garden I will be happy to buy you the supplies and any seeds you might want. I just have no idea how to care for it. I would love for you to keep it.. if you planned on staying around here of course.

D follows along behind you, listens as you talk about the stage and then continues to follow you. Kris notices your hesitation, and pauses his steps.

Everything alright? Yeah, the library is totally free for my customers and their company. If you have a book you would like to read but you can't find it here, I can probably get a friend to lend it to me. Just make sure to write your name down with the book you checked out so I can keep track of it if we ever needed it.

D

That's good, I like to swim but am weary of the ocean. I find a good swim and then relaxing in the hot tub is a great way to release stress.

She steps back out of the doorway and follows you down the hall again.

I am glad you like the pool. It cleans itself but I could clean it on my own if I had to, it's only chemical mixing and a little fishing after all. I also have a nice collection of various bath salts stored underneath that hot tub so you could try those out if you wanted. I have a friend who specializes in herbs and beauty aids and she willingly donated those samples. If you like something, I can see to it that she gives me more of it. I was amazed at how so many friends of mine had access to things I never thought of when running a business. Heh.

D runs her fingers over the letters on the door.

Kris watches your fingers run across the door, he couldn't begin to understand what was going in D's mind but he could tell that something heavy was bout to be moving but he had no idea what would happen next.

As you suddenly take off running, Kris's eyes grow large and he begins to chase after you without looking suspicious.
D! Are you okay? D! Did something happen? Did I mis...speak...?

He sees D run to the distance and although he considered chasing, he also knew that this could be something well outside of his control.

Bertie

Kris's eyes suddenly fall on Bertie and he suddenly realizes how extremely odd this particular circumstance would look to someone who had just shown up and it causes him to laugh nervously and feels himself looking quite foolish.

Ah yes... hello there, I am sure this is not exactly the best way to welcome you to my inn.. Heh... It seems as though my customer got rather overwhelmed... maybe she is allergic to lacquer. I do hope this doesn't make your visit less enjoyable. May I help you?

Although Kris was obviously flustered, he hoped that keeping a cool head and trying to laugh at himself in the situation would show that he was earnestly not the one who caused D's sudden outburst.

Having decided that she must have made a terrible mistake coming here, Bertie's mind was set on fleeing the situation when she caught the sound of another person approaching. Now she was stuck. She didn't want to seem rude, which is exactly what would happen if she just ran off without saying a word to the man who had just appeared. Obviously he had been running after the woman, but why? Bertie only hoped there was some normal explanation for all of this, and that the man hadn't done something to cause the woman to run away.

Attending to the matter of speaking to this stranger, Bertie took a deep breath and tried her best not to appear nervous as her small, wispy voice escaped her lips. The man seemed nice enough, so she would extend that hospitality to him as well.

Um, yes, well, that is perfectly alright. I was just wondering if I could receive a room for the night.

At least she was right in believing this was an inn. If there was a room, she would stay, but honestly she was kind of hoping there wouldn't be an opening. The thought of staying her made her a bit uncomfortable now. Although, it didn't seem as though the man would do anything mean to that woman. Perhaps there had just been misunderstanding.

Will that woman be alright? She appeared to be quite upset about something.
