Whether it was because Aido was behind her, making it harder for the wind to touch her or simply because she was nestled against the warmth of the older tale Chailyn was finding the ride enjoyable. Not only was she warm but she felt safe. She trusted both Rael and Aido making the ride must more fun.
"Do you always ride Rael?" she asked. She could imagine riding the friendly shadow everywhere. She'd only ever ridden in a car before and this was much more...free.

"Mhmm," Aido replied with a nod, "whenever I can. I don't really like cars, espically since I can't drive, but sometimes Aemu makes me ride in them anyway."
Rael turned sharply around a tree then jumped over a fallen log, still following the breeze.

"Aido? Do you ever feel...not special?" she asked a bit softly. The thought wasn't really new, it wasn't really something she thought about either. It just had popped up all of a sudden and she'd decided to ask. "I mean...I look like everyone else. There's nothing special about me, save my clothing that I appeared in. A lot of the tales seem to have wings, or be unique, or...something that makes them stand out."
The tale wasn't really sad, just confused. Riding on Rael made her realize just how much more unique Aido was. It was a good thing she was more curious than anything else.

Aido tilted her head curiously, giving Chailyn a small squeeze as she seriously considered the question. "Well... I've actually never felt, erm, 'special', to tell you the truth," Aido replied after a minute of mulling it over, beneath them Rael slowed a bit. "Just sortof out of place sometimes."
"But... Chai, standing out... I dunno, sometimes it just makes things worse. To be really unique all you have to do is be you," the Tale smiled warmly, sincere and truthful as she always tried to be, not merely hacking the words up after overhearing them or something similar. "After all, there's only one Chailyn. What do you need wings or anything for if you're yourself without them?"

"I...I guess..." she trailed off thinking. She didn't know what to think. She was lost. If standing out could make things worse, then was being special a bad thing? Why couldn't things make sense? The sky was blue. As simply as it was it made sense. Granted no one could answer why it was blue.
Chailyn was quiet for a moment thinking, before giving a smile and looking up at Aido. "I think you're special," she whispered.

Aido hummed under her breath as Chailyn seemed to trail off into thought, not quite sure what else she could offer to try and ease the other girl's mind. But she blinked back to attention when the younger Tale turned back to her.
Aido blinked again in surprise, having not expected that. Her halo glowed gently and a small smile quirked her lips, she lent down and gave Chai a firm hug, "thank you."

Chailyn smiled leaning against Aido since she couldn't really return the hug. She didn't want to fall off Rael if she let go for a moment. "It'd almost be nice if you could live out here. Do you think you'll grow up to be like...um, Aemu?" she asked. She hoped she had said it right.
She couldn't ever imagine being a grown up, at least not like her mother. She knew in books girls seemed to want to have families and children but, she wasn't so sure. In her mind, it seemed like it would be much more to live with her friends and every night could be like a slumber party! Growing up was far off, she was sure, so she didn't have to think about it. Instead she pondered what she would get Aido for a gift. "What does Ai like?"

Aido looked up pensively, "It would..." as long as you had a consistant food source, and a house for when it was cold..."and I dunno, maybe not exactly like her," having four children who semi-constantly needed attention and care? Almost never being able to get away? Aido was fairly certain she'd go insane. "But I wouldn't mind being a little like her. What about you Chai? Think you'll grow up to be like your Mom?"
At the sudden subject change she blinked, "uh well... just.. anything to do with exploring and new, different places," she nodded, that sounded right. "Why? What's Chai like?"

Shaking her head, she let out a muffled no. She couldn't imagine herself being like her mother. It wasn't that she didn't want to. There was just something about her mother that she couldn't see in herself. Although sometimes she couldn't see much of anything in herself that she saw in others. With a shrug of her shoulders, she decided not to explain. She really didn't think she could though.
"I like lots of things. Animals and stuffed animals, koi and ponds, stars and moons, the night sky and the rising sun, being with friends and playing. I like dancing, too. I don't like dancing in front of big groups though." She gave a giggle, "I like Ai and Rael, too!" she grinned. Her childish mind flip-flopped from confusion about others and herself to happiness like a lightswitch.

Aido laughed warmly at the number of items the other girl could list off so easily, and rested her chin lightly on the top of Chailyn's head. Perhaps the other girl thought about that "N'we like Chai too, right Rael?"
Rael rumbled a bit in confirmation, having slowed does to a mellow trot.
At the mention of dancing Aido "hrmed" aloud in curiosity, "would Chai mind showing Rael and I a dance someday?"

"Mm-hmm, I'd like to show you and Rael a dance someday. It would be fun," Chailyn said giving a nod. She gave a soft squeal of delight registering that Ai had said she and Rael liked her, making her happier. "Yay! I'm glad you both like me...oh, what does Rael like?" she asked wondering if he'd ever gotten a gift. It was probably a safe bet to think he might not get as many gifts as Aido, at least the small tale thought so.
She was already planning get the two gifts and picturing their reactions when two mysterious wrapped presents wound up whever they lived. She smiled brightly at the thought. Getting presents for people was so fun. "Are you tired, Rael?"

"Yay! I'll look forward to it," Aido replied happily, smiling at the thought of Chai dancing, pressing the tips of her fingers together as she pondered what sort of dance the girl would do, only to realize she really had no idea, which only served to cheer her more. Seeing new things, new skills, was wonderful....
-Hrm...- was the Shadow's pensive reply, before he shrugged his shoulders a bit, -I like a lot of things, they're simply not 'things'-
Aido nudged him gently with a foot, "you're being cryptic," she chided gently, never one to enjoy cryptic talk.
Rael laughed, deep and barotone, sounding very human within their minds, -I like Chai and Aido and people and running....-
"He also likes shiny things," Aido airly intersected as she around at their surrounds, "and music... and old books."
-Well... yes... though nothing with glitter.... And no, I'm fine, the wind's just died down, it's getting harder to follow,- his gold eyes glanced back at the two girls, -which way now?-

Chailyn pondered giving a laugh. She didn't know what dance she'd do either, but she didn't have to dance now. She was surprised that Rael wasn't tired thinking if it was her there was no way that she'd be able to carry two people.
Old books was the thing that registered in her mind. She loved books. She'd have to get an old book for Rael, though who knew what it'd be about. But what to get Aido? Come to think of it there were a few friends she had that she couldn't think of what to get.
"I don't know. Where should we go Aido?"

The Shadow Mancer swung her gaze around, 'hrm'ing to herself and trying to see the sun through the clouds and the tree branches. They'd been riding for a fair amount of time....
"Should we head back?" Aido asked, mind sliding to Chai's sister, who was probably still back in the field. "Not that we have to by any means," she added, she was enjoying the time with the younger Tale. "But I just remembered your sister, I don't want her to be worrying about you...."

"I suppose so," she said relunctantly giving a sigh. She really didn't want to head back but it was true, her sister might be worrying about her. Her tiny hands petted Rael, leaning forward to scratch behind his ears. "You're a wonderful ride, Rael." She grinned.
