Clarissa Rivers
Student and Waitress (Midnight Angel Bar)

Everything happened so fast that Clarissa barely had time to react. Several feet away from her, she once again saw the once blood-drenched killer from earlier. Had he come back to take her life?! She was about to gasp in horror when she also felt a short and abrupt movement behind her. She heard a loud "s**t!" from before her and the man was dashing towards Clarissa; she gave one horrified shriek that anyone's ears would hurt and then reached for her stun gun in her bag. The next things that happened become too fast she failed to comprehend most of them.

The killer grabbed her by the hand. He spun her out of the way as if shielding her from something and then put her against his back. Clarissa caught a glimpse of a horribly deformed woman, who she recognized as one of her neighbors but haven't really talked to her (Clarissa was sure that that woman was a drug junkie or something), and was oozing blood from everywhere. Also, by that time, she gagged as a massive rotten smell seemed to have come from her neighbor's own breath. Reluctantly, she clutched at the strong arms of the young man/killer and hid her face in disgust. BANG!

Clarissa shrieked again. "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhg!" She roared in horror and although she knew it was the killer that shot once again, she held him tight and embraced him. Enough. Enough of this. This was too much for her. "ENOUGH!" She cried in panic. Then, the man turned to her. Face smeared of tears, she looked at him and then said something inaudible to Clarissa's senses. Something must have denied her the sense of understanding and comprehension and that she looked at the man with a dazed expression.

"I... Who...? What...?" She uttered and then swayed, her world seemed to be turning upside down.

James backed up from the girl a bit and thats when she shouted something. Enough is what she shouted. It was obviously getting to her, the carnage, the blood. All of it must of disturbed her, especially since a killer was next to her. James had his breakdown already, when he left the apartment in the first place, on the way to the police station he broke down. And when he ran into a few more zombies he freaked out and tried to deny it but, he didn't let that get himself into trouble by trying to snap the dead walking out of it. He was not going to be killed yet. Not if he could help it. The girl though, she had locked herself up and obviously she just came out to see all this. Her mind probably trying to comprehend all this but failing to do so. It seemed like his words didn't get to her. That's when he put his gun in between his jeans and belt and looked her in the eyes, worry filling them. "Shh sh sh. Its ok. I swear, I'm not going to hurt you. As I said before, they were not themselves, if I would of hesitated they would of killed me earlier. And you now. My name is Jame." He started to say, replying to her mumbled up words. " And whats happening, I cannot really tell you, all I can is..it seems the dead are not staying that way.. and, it's happening all over the place. You need to get ahold of your self quickly. The police have they're hands full if they are not dead themselves, and we need to get out of here before we attract any more..." James said to her. "IF you have anything like a gun or weapon you can use in your room, you should get it." He then reached out his hand to take hers, hoping she could maybe trust him. But with all that has happened to the poor girl...he may just get tazed...

Clarissa Rivers
Student and Waitress (Midnight Angel Bar)

She looked at him, her face wet with tears. Her gaze was unfocused as if the owner was in another world. Yet, somehow, she remained standing before the man named James. He began talking discussing about things she had no idea all about; there were words like "dead", "police" and "zombies." But somehow, every word that she heard seemed to make sense to her although her face showed otherwise (dazed expressions). She understood that the city has been overwhelmed by the "walking dead", so to say. Unfortunately, the police department seemed to be extremely full, too, thus explaining the recent police cars that passed by in such a rush.

And then, as if the dawn broke to her mind, she realized how fortunate she was. She realized now that that what was about to attack her was one of the infected people. And even though she did not want to admit it, the killer she initially thought was the one who saved her. That made it twice now, counting from earlier's attack.

Clarissa began to cry, nodding vaguely from his instructions about having a gun and escaping before any more zombie notice their presence. Slowly, she closed to him and then cried on his chest unable to find anyone to ease all her panic and confusion deep inside her. She trembled and she held to him. And for that, she was once again thankful of his presence. "Tha-thank y-you..." She uttered; she wanted to follow an apology but she couldn't. A bulging feeling on her throat prevented her from doing so and just collapsed before him, crying like any woman would do in that situation.

James was taken by surprise when the girl said thank you tazing him. He was taken even more when she leaned into him and started sobbing. Slowly he brought up his arms going to embrace her but he stopped and pulled his arms back a bit, as if he wasn't quite sure what to do. Slowly he put one hand on her back and patted it for a moment, a mediocre example of consoling her. But as she continued he put both arms around her and held her for a moment, bringing one hand to the top of her head. As she collapsed, he fell to his knees as she went down, still trying to hold onto her. It seemed he was the only source of comfort for the time being, so he would just have to go with it. "It's ok. I don't want to rush you but we need to hurry. I have a car out front. I'll go into your room with you so you can gather your stuff. We have to head to my house as well afterword so we don't have much time." He said letting go of her and grabbing her hands, ready to help her up.

Clarissa Rivers
Student and Waitress (Midnight Angel Bar)

Slowly, Clarissa began to regain her composure. She wiped her face with the back of her hand and then looked at James. She could believe it; James looked like some high schooler and yet he coped up with everything so easily. She nodded vaguely and then stifled her sobs and stood up, of course, with his assistance. She was still wobbly but enough to get her by.

"It's okay, we need to hurry and g-get some help." Clarissa said, looking slightly at her apartment. And then, she began to wonder about the Midnight Angel bar. She began to wonder about the situation of Erika, Clarissa's most valued person since her parent's death. She wanted to go at the bar at once but she didn't know the situation of Coheed was currently in. Perhaps, she needed someone to look after her at the moment. Erika, hopefully, was clever enough to stay out of trouble for a couple of moments. "Where do you plan on going? You said the police department is currently full because of these... things.

"I'm sorry, my name is Clarissa Rivers." She said and then held out her hand.

James Smiled at her as she got up. She was hit hard by this, alot harder than he was. But he at first couldn't comprehend this at first either. On the way to the police station he was freaking out. All he could do was help her out as much as he could. He accepted her handshake and smiled at her trying to be comforting. "Well Clarissa, I wish it was better circumstances we met but its nice to meet you. Anyway, Yes lets hurry. " he said turning his head toward the dead bodies. His eyes started to swell with tears a little. 'What is causing all this' He thought to himself. He didn't know what was going on. All he did know is that from the point he shot the girl till this point, the town has changed drastically. Although he did not know how long it would last, everyones life has changed from this point on. Weather everything passes in a few ours or days. He turned back toward The girl as she spoke. "Going?" He said then went into thought, especially after she mentioned the police station.

James soon arrived at the police station. He was planning on reporting what he did and what had happened at the apartment complex. But the site complexed him. The door's were swung open, no police cars were there. IT was like an abandoned building, blood all over the place. Walking it it was empty of anything...alive. Infact there were bodies on the ground ripped to pieces, eaten and even ones twitching. Falling to his knees, James started to freak out. "WHAT THE ******** IS GOING ON." James remembers shouting. His breathing also increasing. "No no no...this can't be happening...whys this happening..." He got back to his feet and left the building, not thinking of looking for anything he could use. Shock taking his body.

James shook his head back to reality, realizing he was looking right at the girls eyes. " Weather we go to the police station or not, it be no help. Its not full....quite the opposite. Its worse than this hallway.." he said looking away and to the floor, looking as if it wasn't news he wanted to tell her. His voice a little trembling. " We have to go to my house, I have another gun there as well as more bullets. As well as food and other stuff to last for a little. If you need to go somewhere I'll take you there afterwords. Ok." He said looking back to the girl,

Clarissa Rivers
Student and Waitress (Midnight Angel Bar)

Clarissa nodded at his suggestion about grabbing some supplied at his home. If things were this severe across Coheed, then it would be extremely dangerous to wander without a weapon in hand. Now that she thought about it, Clarissa recalled a game played by Erika from her PlayStation 2, called Resident Evil. The games unusually and ridiculously resembled what was happening around them. The city in chaos. Bitten people were being strangely reanimated and bent on killing other people as well. Clarissa shook off those horrible thoughts especially of the gruesome games of Erika... and her zombie movies, too. Perhaps, James and Clarissa would end up at a local mall and barricade themselves there? She thought wildly.

"Perhaps we could locate a couple or more people across the city? I think the more of us, looking out to each other's backs would be quite an easy job." Clarissa suggested, turning to her bag and then grabbing her stun gun. With the dead walking, she doubted at the offensive impact of her weapon but it should be able to buy them some time if the need arose. "There should be lots of people still alive! I mean, the event haven't even reached six hours, could it?" She asked.

James nodded at Clarissa's answer. She was right, finding more people at this point may be a little bit more useful then just two people. But at the same time it could cause more attention to themselves. But never the less, it seemed that was the best plan of action. "Yes, we can do that, When we get to my car we will be safe in that until the gas runs out. After that then to my house. Where do you have in mind to go look after that?" he asked. " And more so...before we run out of gas we are going to have to find a place to hold up if need be. Our mall is pretty big and has multiple floors. We could always go there? But where ever we go, it must be easily watched. " He said looking shaking his head at her other question. " Six hours, You must of fell asleep or something after I ran into you. It's been a little over 12 hours since I was first here. Weather six or twelve hours it seems it's spread quite fast. But maybe, there could be alot of people left. Hopefully there are." He said looking past her then he started to walk toward her room. Slowly. " Alright, lets gather what you have to." he said reading his weapon and standing by the door. " You go in, I'll watch the door." He said motioning his head inside her room as he looked at her.

Clarissa Rivers
Student and Waitress (Midnight Angel Bar)

She considered his first question at her. Of course she wanted to go to Midnight Angel's and check on Erika but she didn't want to risk James life. Perhaps, when they found a place settled on, she could get out of there from his sight and go to the bar alone. She certainly didn't want to cause so much fuzz regarding things. So, she shook her head. "No... there's nowhere I would like to go... at the moment..." She said in a dismissing tone, hoping that James don't notice her thoughts.

She was startled when he mentioned about the mall and barricading the place up. She wanted to laugh because he responded as if he read her thoughts. He wasn't really serious about the Dawn of the Dead idea is he? Nonetheless, the man seemed serious. "But the mall could be swarming with those things, too! It's a public place and it will become somewhat a basic thought that people would go there. But we could at least try. What shopping center is near here? Coheed Center? Supersmart Shopping Center?" She suggested, going through the city of Coheed about nearby shopping malls. "And twelve hours? I must have forgotten to look at the time. It must have spread so fast..." She gaped at his information. Then, it was unlikely that they would find more survivors. She doubted if they could find more people.

She nodded at his command and then dashed at her apartment. She grabbed a backpack and then stuffed some clothes at it and a few food from the fridge, especially canned goods. She didn't stock much but she thought this would be enough at least until they find a sanctuary to hide at. Then, rummaging through her drawer, she grabbed a few battery charges for her stun gun, given to her by Erika on her last birthday; she hated Erika for it but now she seemed to be thankful at her more than ever. After that, she walked out of her room and then reluctantly locked the door and hid her keys at her pocket. She was changed now into a short pants and a simple white t-shirt for easy movement; she might never know when they would attack and when James and her would run.

"Let's go, James." She said, holding on tightly at her stun gun.

James just listened to her as she spoke. Clarissa was right, he actually just wanted to see her reaction to what he said about the mall. He's watched almost every zombie movie made and knew the mall may be a good place but also a deadly one at that. To many entrances and corners. What they needed was a place with maybe 3 or 4 exits and entrances but with second floor or roof access only accessible by a ladder or something claimable but can be knocked over so that there is no way to get to them unless you could fly. He just smiled at her reaction to where he said they should go, obviously she's seen these movies as well, but he wasn't going to admit he was playing around just yet. Clarissa took off into her room and he heard her gather stuff from there. As he waited outside for her, he kept his eyes on both ends of the hall, making sure nothing came up on them. So far so good.

When Clarissa finished, he nodded and started to jog toward the front door of the apartment complex. " The Coheed mall has three floors, we can barricade the bottom one. You know, like that movie." He said with a laugh then shook his head. " I'm kidding....most those people died anyway. That should only be a last resort, I'm guessing staying in one place for to long would only cause more and more to surround you.....there for making it impossible to get away in any normal circumstances. Keeping on the move would be best right now. But having somewhere with a couple stories is a good idea, as long as you can make sure that nothing can get to the next floor. Like a hang ladder or something...something you can push over or unhook. We will have to work it out later. " He said going ahead of her a little then stopping at the corner by the entrance and placing his back to the wall. " First thing's first, we should see if there is any other survivors. Even if it's not likely. IF there is, than we have a better chance to survive watching eachothers backs. But....we must not rely on each other to much...because if something goes wrong with one person...everyone can get in danger. Point is, even if someone watches your back," He paused for a moment, looking away from her around the corner, it was clear for now. He then looked back into Clarissa's eyes and gave her a serious look. " Don't stop watching your own back as well." He said pushing his back off the wall and turning the corner, swiftly walking toward the door, opening it and making his way to his car. Taking his free hand, he took his keys out and readied to start his car.

Clarissa Rivers
Student and Waitress (Midnight Angel Bar)

Clarissa followed James as they head towards the entrance of the apartment complex. The entire building was silent. The complex was not much busy in terms of tenants even if by normal circumstances. Now, the eeriness of the situation seemed to have amplified the silence of the building. Never in her life she felt this cold and alone and sensitive. This time, she was glad that she had a companion, even if James was a stranger.

Then, he turned to the idea of the mall sanctuary once again. "Are you going to do what they did in Dawn of the Dead movie? But, you know, they do have a point since the place would be full of supplies. Although, of course, the idea of being enclosed in that area would be quite dangerous, too." She said in a concerned tone. True, they would be in great trouble if somehow the creatures gain entrance of the mall. They would be trapped along with them. When he suggested about keeping on the move, she thought it would best too and nodded in agreement. "Yes, but being on the move is dangerous, too. You know, the streets would be swarming of those creatures..."

She shivered as she thought of the idea of keeping a group with one person infected. They would fall from the inside. True to his words, they needed to watch their own backs as one of them might be the cause of great trouble. If the situation was like the one in the movies (particularly the Resident Evil ones), then "one bite, one scratch and you're one of them." She dismissed this and then looked suspiciously through the door when James stood back and examined the area. After a moment, they went out and then walked to his car.

They entire street the apartment complex was in was in complete chaos. It was also empty. There was even a car lodged across the sidewalk, stopped several inches from the nearby fire hydrant. She looked around and found the entire area empty beside that. The houses and apartment around seemed to have been drained of life, too. Everything seemed so still and... observing. She was just being paranoid but perhaps it felt like they were being watched by unseen eyes. She cringed in fear.

She followed James and then sat next to him by the front seat. She put on the seatbelt and then locked the door, looking around in the process.

It was by then when she saw a limping figure across the corner. It was walking towards them although it was very far but Clarissa was sure that the figure was one of them. It was an obese woman and her right leg seemed to have been broken because she was huddling to them in a very comical manner. When it was struck by a momentary light, Clarissa saw that the woman's right cheek was bloodied and seemed to have been eaten. Clarissa turned around and put her hand to her mouth, gagging with revulsion. "James, let's go." She struggled to say to her companion.

James opened his door and took seat into the vehicle, and no sooner Clarissa sat next to him but locked the door. " You know, They're zombies...I doubt they would open a car door." he said with a small chuckle. " I don't plan on going to the Mall, maybe past it to see if people are there...and laugh if they are doing exactly what the movie did. But, if push comes to shove we may have to hold up somewhere. And as you said, they have things to live off of, at least for a little while....maybe if we do end up in a mall we can just blow up the stairs...that would prevent them." He responded to her earlier comment. His eyes shifted just as Clarissa's attention went to a limping woman. It was a horrid sight which was easily seen by her reaction. "Please don't spue in my car...I understand it's the end of the world and all but I love this car..." he said putting his key in the ignition and starting it. " But Yes, I'll get you away...but just so you know..your going to have to get used to it...." He said shifting into first and letting go of the clutch. The car lurched forward as the g-force started to push them to the seat. Quickly he shifted to second and then third. They're bodies finally catching up to the speed of the car.

James watched the road, taking several turns, heading to his house. " Before, you said being in the open would be dangerous...how I see it now...no matter what we do there is danger in it. Staying in one place, they gather and eventually we make a mistake and they get in maybe....we wonder around. We are faster than them and they can't jump a fence or a rail as well as Me or you. Freerunning even in its minor state can be useful in this situation..but no matter what, we could make a mistake, mess up....and something could happen. No matter what Clarissa...we are in danger at all times. And that' show we need to see it. Weather we barricade ourselves and feel safe, or walking while avoiding them in the open." He said continuing to drive. His house would only take a few moments to get to.

Clarissa Rivers
Student and Waitress (Midnight Angel Bar)

James, after a series of comical comments, decided that it was now time to go. Clarissa was momentarily relieved when they decided to leave the area and that she hoped that the limping creature was the last one she was to see; although, deep inside, she doubted if it was the last one. However, this momentary relief was ended when James activated his hell of a car. He drove it in a sudden burst of speed she was thrown backwards with her head bouncing softly at the chair cushion. She gasped in shock but said none. High school student these days... she thought in frustration.

They took several turns and found out that the rest of Coheed seemed to have gone still. It seemed, too, that the cars the city have disappeared along with the rest of the people. The roads were empty but Clarissa could swear that from time to time she saw a shop or boutique with its interior burning. Once or twice she saw fire hydrants broken with water bursting endlessly from the ground, being struck by a car or whatnot. She watched in silence as the car drove towards James' home.

"Yes... you are correct. There would be danger all around the city. I wonder what the police department is doing now..." Clarissa asked in a dazed expression as she watched the buildings and streets pass by. "Could they have reported this incident on outside government figures? Where are the people? It's so... empty." She said, gaping at the empty houses, roads and alleyways. It seemed like all of the people around the city disappeared like smoke.

James kept his pace with his vehicle as they made they're way to his house. He noticed her initial reaction to his car, but as it stood now..how everything was turning out, James really wasn't interested in trying to show off with the power of his vehicle. That's just how he drove, fast, dangerous, and smooth. James didn't let it seem like he noticed her reaction though, he just kept driving. He wanted to get to his house as soon as possible. He then heard her speak again, and his mind went back to when he went to the police department. All the bodies he saw, not only were they civilian type of dead, but there were a great amount of the police in there to. " Coheed PD won't be much help at all.....And with how it is here and no military has been sent in...I figure.." he paused for a moment turning into a driveway. " Well....its like this all around the country...maybe even world. If so...we may not get any help besides from each other." He said turning to her.. His facial expression serious but had a hit of sadness in it. From his tone one could tell he really believed what he was saying.

Slowly turning and opening his door, James stepped out of his car and looked around. Ducking back down looking into the Car he motioned his head for her to follow him. " I'd rather not leave you out here alone. Your stun gun's not going to be much of anything if you don't get them in the eyes." He said pulling his gun from his belt and holding it out to her. " Take it, If they get close I'll be able to fight them off...break they're neck or something... I have another gun in the house." He said waiting.

Clarissa clearly frowned at the idea that the events happening in Coheed were across the country, and what's worse, the world. She slowly shook her head at the recent comments of James, not accepting the possible fact. "We don't know about that!" She snapped at James all of the sudden, turning at the young man. "Maybe the military is just late or something! I don't want to believe that it's all over the world! It's just impossible!" She added, her voice heated at the apocalyptic reasons of James. She didn't want to live in a hell-driven world and she was quite certain that she would commit suicide instead. Actually, it was easier, with all the problem over!

When the car stopped, she bowed her head and then thought ashamed of herself. She lost her temper and snapped at a stranger. How awkward... "I'm sorry... I'm very sorry... I just thought that living this kind of life would be too much for me." She said softly, giving a saddened and apologetic look at James, her savior. "I'm sorry if I snapped at you... I just... just..." She was about to break down again when she stopped her tears in time and snapped back to reality, thinking that crying was no help at all. She stiffened her sobs and then wiped the traces of tears in her eyes. Then, she stepped out of the car, following James.

When he recommended a gun at Clarissa, she gasped in shock as she looked at the weaponry in his hand. "I-I haven't used a gun in my life!" She hissed at him in a scandalized expression in her face. "Although, I can be quite accurate; I'm a top member of our school's Archery Club, y'know... but I haven't used a gun before!" She added but not taking the gun at all. She clutched at her stun gun in her pocket and then thought of the idea. But what if she accidentally shoots James? Countless thoughts lingered in her mind, all against the usage of guns and firearms.
