Becca Friedrich

A faint smile had flitted across Becca's features for a second or two when her little experiment had produced a favorable response. Rhythm from one of Them is hard enough to believe as it is, making the idea of imitation downright impossible. Although, of all the ways to actually get to the person on the other side of the wall, climbing out through the window would not have been her first idea. But what was she going to do? Corey was already gone before she could attempt to protest with a more sensible alternative. Well, either they were going to gain a person or lose one, and she really hoped that it would be the former.

When Dave told Becca to stand back, she was more than happy to oblige. When the door was finally opened though, she could not have anticipated what came through. It looked even worse than the others from before had. She could barely find the right words to describe the Thing Ewan proceeded to stake with a broom handle. Horrid, vile, warped, twisted, sickening, and many more colorful descriptions ran through her mind; it was hard to comprehend that that Thing had once been like them. One could swear that Becca had visibly turned greenish from nausea after watching Jamie bring her foot down on Its head. Over and over again.

Whatever higher power thought that it'd be a great idea to let a fifteen-year-old kid be one of the few sane ones during a widespread, cannibalism-inducing illness, was seriously demented. The fact that said higher power didn't stop it in the first place says volumes about its intentions. Another reason why Becca was an atheist. It was much easier for her to think that there was a way for science to explain this nightmarish phenomenon than to simply believe that it was the corrupt will of some almighty being.

While trying to keep the contents of her stomach from coming back up, Becca hadn't even seen Dave slip away without them. It wasn't until that It was good and dead that they all noticed that there was one less of them than they had started with. This made her hope all the more that Corey would make it back with the other person from next door.

When she felt Ewan's hand on her shoulder, she came back to herself and actually looked at the mush under her foot with three broomsticks sticking out of it. She looked over at Hazel, not even realizing until now that she had jumped in. When Jamie saw her face, she quirked a brow at her.

"You okay there chief?" she asked calmly, as if she had not just been having a freak out on the things head.

Her eyes slid down to the think which brains she was still standing amid. It was dead. They could be killed. That brightened her mood considerably. Now we're learning somthin', she thought to herself. Then her eyes flitted over to Becca, sitting back and looking pleased as pie. She seemed like a smart girl, but Jamie really wanted to know if she could hack it when the chips were down. Relying on someone in this kind of situation who can't kill to defend themselves...it puts you, and everyone else, at risk. The girls eyes bore into Becca for just a moment, no expression evident on her face.

"Here's hopin'." she said out loud, then smiled.

"If you don't shut up, I'll get out the duct tape."

►► Hazel nodded, her pearly teeth gnawing at her lower lip. But she was not alright. Inside, guilt pounded at her defences, more for the fact that the zombie had been someone important to her than anything. But the guilt was washed away with relief when she looked down at the twisted, mangled body. The once-blue irises of Johnny's eyes were a dark red, crimson blood leaking out, almost as if he-it were crying. She immediatly shook that thought from her head, turning away from the mangled now-dead-undead-body. "Okay then."

Hurry hurry hurry~

"HEY! I told you's to wait!" Corey yelled as he hauled himself back into the room. There wasn't much use in going through the window to next door if the danger that made him do so was gone.
"We need to hurry, there's a ******** high chance that more'll be coming. God the mess! You could've done it a little less enthusiastically? Gah, poor b*****d look at the state of his head!" Corey commented stepping over the mushy bloody mess that was left of the boys face. Checking the corridor briefly for any more nippy bodies he was glad to see there was none, though it wouldn't be long, Corey could hear screams ringing form the stairs at the end of the corridor... Quickly chapping the door before opening it, he found Lorne, not that Corey knew his name was Lorne, alone in the relatively large classroom.
"Hey, no time for names, that can come later. Can you run and do you have a weapon? We need to get out of here as quickly as possible." Corey's words began to meld together he was speaking that fast.
"AAAhhhh!!! CLAIRE NO!! AHH What's wrong with you stop biting me!!" Came a voice from outside the window. They didn't have much time. Corey quickly scanned the room, seeing some bags left by other pupils after they made their escape he noticed something that could be of use. Leaving Lorne where he was Corey slid over a desk in his haste and grabbed a wooden hokey stick from one of the abandoned bags.
"Here, whoever left this probably wont be needing it any time soon and it looks like you'll have a use for it..."
"HELP SOMEBODY HELP ME! AAAAGGHHHHHH!!"
"Come on! Time's ticking!" He shouted quickly over the curdling screams from outside and skipped back out the door. to see the body leaking over the vinyl. But the groans, banging and scraping from the stairs soon stole his attention. Looks like their antics were already making them popular..

Jamie hadn't been the one to open the door and ignore the plan, she had just gone in for clean up. It seemed unproductive to point that out now. She followed Corey next door to see the boy who they had been hearing the musical stylings from. She gave him a strange smile then went down the aisles to the abandoned bags. She three three of the sturdier looking ones on her back. While, by one strap each. Too much weight to run much. As Corey was talking she unzipped the first one and pulled out the stack of books inside. She might lose some content from that, but there wasn't much time to nit pick. Returning to the first doorway, she pulled the broom out of the body, then ran after Corey.

As she followed him down the hallway, she pulled the heavy books out of the other two bags. There might be not much of use in them, but not everyone had brought their packs, and there was no way she was carrying supplies for everyone who didn't. Especially if there would be running. God, she hated running.

She stopped for a moment to make sure everyone was with them, dumping the last of the books as she waited.

Lorne Martinez
No time to even scratch an eye?

Lorne had been rubbing his other toe when he heard more yelling coming from the group on the other side of the wall dividing them. Only the yelling seemed to come from somewhere near the window. Strange, maybe someone decided to hide outside on the ledge? He began walking to the window when about a minute after hearing the voice, yet, another sound reached his ears. Lorne turned around quickly when the door opened. He had thought that a zombie had somehow managed to....; well luckily that wasn't the case at all.

He was tempted to ask the guy how he managed to get into the locked room but the boy began talking in a very rushed manner. It was kind of hard for Lorne to make out what he was saying. "Wait what?" Of course he didn't get an answer, instead he received a hockey stick. 'This is the answer that makes the meaning to life clear.' He thought to himself as a sort of joke at how quickly things had picked up. Under other circumstances, he'd hesitate to take something that wasn't his; but really, the person this belonged to was probably out eating people, so it really didn't matter.

At that point, a girl came into the room and moved down the rows to the abandoned back packs. He looked up and saw the strange smile that she seemed to throw his way. What exactly she was smiling about, he could on guess at."......" Lorne then turned his attention to something else.

The cries of pain coming from the stairs then bounced off the walls and into his ear, it was all he needed to realize just what the big hurry was. Then there was more yelling; Corey was out in the hall and exclaiming some more. This time telling him, and probably his buddies in their group, that time was ticking. Without another thought or word Lorne picked up his backpack, and moved out into the hall. "......By the way...I can run..." He said to Corey after he stepped out.

Allen Spencer

“Urrgh” Allen grunted as he smashed the steel pipe into the torso of one of his former classmates. The pipe struck bone and made a sickening crunch as it smashed the ribcage, sending the receiver into a wall where it subsequently collapsed onto the ground. Despite the fatal wound, it looked up towards from a few feet away. Slowly it began clawing towards him, its spine most likely snapped by the momentum of the swing. “Why won’t you die” he begged to it. As if it had heard him, it raised its’ head to him and belched out a raspy moan. The sound had a feral animal, not quite beast, but definitely not human. Stepping back he understood, this thing, whatever it was, was an abomination. Slowly he raised his weapon and brought it down swiftly onto its head, bellowing out a savage warlike cry as he did so.

Looking at the concave skull of what had been one of his classmates’ only hours before; he couldn’t help but be grateful that he hadn’t rushed outside during the original panic. Instead, being the coward he was, he had snuck off toward the western wing of the school which had been under partial reconstruction. There he had hidden in one of the bathrooms until the frenzy of chaos and feeing had died off. The western wing was also where he found his weapon and some medical supplies. It wasn’t until a pack of them had wandered in did he leave and head off to the main part of the school.

Now he had to escape. Stepping back from the corpse he re-adjusted his backpack, wiped the filth off of his weapon and quickly departed from the classroom. His fracas was considerably noisy and would probably attract the attention of more of them. Not wanting to be caught unprepared when they came, he quickly snuck down the hallway. Turning the corner he came face to face with a group of individuals.

There was barely any time to question before Corey and the rest had left the room to check next door. Not wanting to be left behind, for that would be extremely bad, Becca swallowed back the gags and took a running leap over the still form in the doorway. Even just being in the hallway gave her this eerie feeling of being exposed. With a small shudder, she gripped the trowel in her hand ever more tightly. The shrieks floating up to them from outside weren't doing any good for her nerves. All this pressure and stress was making her fidgety, constantly shifting her weight from one foot to the other. She really just wanted to run as far as her legs could take her. But she knew that was on the top of the list of bad ideas.

Then a boy that seemed to be around the age of the rest of the group stepped out of the neighboring classroom. Unless there was anyone else with him, he was most likely the one whose banging had caught Becca’s attention so well. If there was a time for pleasantries though, this definitely wasn’t it. The alarming noises coming ever closer from the stairwell was concrete proof of that. She turned to look down the other end of the hall in hopes of determining a safer course to the garage, but what instead met her eyes was another young man who had just rounded the corner. For a split second, Becca had thought this newcomer was one of Them, causing her to jump back and hold out her trowel in front of her as protection. It took another second or two for her to realize that he wasn’t mindlessly lurching towards her or gazing at her like she was the lunchroom special. Cautiously, she lowered her weapon, but only a bit. She didn't know if this person could be trusted, for a repeat of the Dave incident was the last thing they needed.

Allen Spencer

When he first saw them, he was fairly sure they had turned, the blood on Ewan and Jamie's clothing certainly supported that theory. He tensed and raised his pipe slightly, ready for the attack. However when he saw that they were carrying their own makeshift weaponry, he realized they were just like him, trying to survive this godforsaken situation. "Nice to see some actual people for once, but we really should get moving." he chirped, while pointing his weapon towards the way he had just come. "I took down one of them down there and I think some it's friends will be coming soon"

Allen was fairly ecstatic that he had found some other uninfected humans, he wouldn't have to be watching his own back from now on. However he noticed that the sheer size if the group would become an issue if he followed them for too long. He noticed that a few had some weapons, and some seem that they could hold their own in a brawl, but if they couldn't defend themselves from a large attack they'd basically be a huge all you can eat meat buffet.

Ewan Sheilds
How's about this?

Stepping out of the room as Corey and Lorne came out of the other one, Ewan looked down the corridor at where the faint screams were coming from. No doubt they belonged to people that had hidden inside rather than rushing out with the masses. That meant that They were cleaning through the rest of the school. Spinning at a faint scrape from behind the group, Ewan stood hunched and ready to spear whatever it was. Finding another survivour, Ewan released the breath that he had been holding. That made their group at seven, enough to attract attention if they weren't careful. "Hey, pipe guy. Were there any of Them following you? If there were, that means we're going to have to fight out way out. For now, let's just keep moving." The moans and scrapes from the stairs were getting louder. That route was out then. New guy probably had more lumbering after him. Back that way was out as well. Where to go. Where to go.... There. "The fire escape stairs. Don't the teachers use it all the time? None of the pupils are allowed to use it, and the teachers were herding them out of the main doors. It should be empty right now. The heavy doors should have kept any of Them from just stumbling in. That makes it the safest way to the ground floor and I think it's just a short run to the garage from there. That's our best bet."

Jamie Richardson

Jamie came to stand near Becca, events running through her head. Her eyes went from person to person, sizing them up and their likely survivability. Hopefully some of the more...soft....of their group could defend themselves. Thinking of this her head turned back to Becca.

"Do you think you could actually use that thing?" she asked softly, starting to head towards the window and fire escape at the suggestion of Ewan, while still looking at Becca. The three mostly empty packs as well as her own were still on her shoulder. She pushed the window open, then changed her mind and went to stand at the front part of the hallway at the back of the group. She would wait for everyone to get through.

"Hey, 'Pipe Guy', you should hang back with me...Corey, Hazel, maybe take the front, lead the charge? Ewan, make sure the other two get down okay. Sound kosher, people?" she hoped they liked the format and that the other new guy wasn't too insulted. He looked really unsure, so Jamie kind of rolled him together with Becca, who she was fairly certain still had stuffed animals all over her bedroom. They didn't really have time to talk about it, she thought as the first bloody feet started dragging around the corner.
