At the concept of sharing the bed, Michele flushed a deep shade of red and muttered his "okay". For a while he was completely unable to function. How embarrassing.
Of course, he wasn't an only child, therefore he'd shared a bed before....but it was different, sleeping with a sibling and sleeping with a respected partner. Once Dane was distracted by the mapping prospect he took a moment to calm himself down. Okay, Mike, it's not a big deal.

They hunched over the table together, their red pens making marks on the map. Michele didn't mind Dane's constant chatter. It was actually sort of comforting....his voice was smooth and easy to listen to.
They settled down in a booth, map between them as they waited for their food. Michele smoothes out the creases in the map,
"I think your plan is good," he says lowly, ".....it makes sense. We should hazard a few more guesses,"
He smiles a little, glancing up at Dane. Ultima mewled happily, back at her perch on Michele's head.
"I really think the Electric one will be in the Power Plant, and the Ghost orb just has to be Lavender Town. It's the only place that makes sense," he says, pointing to each location in turn, "So...that's at least two. We should mark off the possible obvious places. Like.....in Johto...."Dragons' Den"....maybe the Dragon orb is there," he shrugs, rubbing at one side of his face.
They were able to enjoy their meal over the map, writing their notes in a notebook Michele had brought with him. The food was good and, best of all, cheap. He shared his chicken sandwich with Ultima.
"....I'm really looking forward to this," he says lowly, blushing slightly as he looks up at Dane again, "......It's been a long time since I've actually wanted to....you know....do something with purpose. I'm pretty excited about it~" he chuckles, embarrassed, "I-I'm glad you're with me,"
What a sissy thing to say! Mike, just shut up. Don't make it any worse than it already is. Just be quiet. He sighed inwardly, blushing hard. Well....for all the embarrassing things that had manged to happen, today was definately a good day.

~~~
Michele was exhausted by nightfall. His nightclothes were plain and blue in color. He was slightly flustered, climbing into bed with Dane on the other side. It took him several long minutes to relax into it, Ultima curled up in the curve of his neck and shoulder. It wasn't so bad. It was embarrassing, but it wasn't so bad. They weren't too close together or anything. After a while, he was able to drift off to sleep.
(Remember the message I sent you? Dane gets to wake up with a Michele clinging to him like a cute, dark haired koala. XP)
As they poured over the map and their dinners, Dane was glad to have someone else to bounce ideas off of. If he ever got lonely during a trip, he always had his Pokemon, but having a human partner brought so much more to the table, their was no comparison. While he could usually tell how his Pokemon felt by their expressions and tones, they couldn't speak back to him, which made things difficult. Mike, however, was not only able to communicate, but also had some great ideas. It was wonderful.
Nodding as he swallowed, Dane said, "That sounds about right. After all," he said slowly, thinking hard about something, "I don't think there's anywhere else in all of Kanto where you can find ghost types, and certainly not such a great concentration of them. Ugh." Groaning at the thought of the electric orb and having to go to the power plant, Dane said, "I honestly don't like electric type Pokemon very much...no reason in particular, there's just something about all the electricity that bothers me. Gives me static for one thing," he said, tugging at a strand of his long green hair, "and I don't like getting shocked, which seems to happen a lot around them. I guess if we really want to get all the orbs, though, I'll have to suck it up. At least it should only be one stop-off."
Looking at the Johto map as well, Dane marked off the areas mentioned. "I've never been to the Dragon's Den, but it sounds obvious enough. There will probably be a few of them in Johto...which will be a whole journey on its own. We should check as many places over here as we can before heading off into another continent. We don't want to go all that way just to have to come back because we missed one. Although, since we're just speculating on all the locations, I guess that might happen anyway." Finally looking up from the maps again, Dane smiled. "I guess it won't be so bad as long as we've got each other for company, though. Things can get pretty boring going solo, but it isn't so bad when you've got a friend."
Hearing Mike say essentially the same thing, Dane felt good about their prospects in the coming months. Being alone out in the wild could get lonesome at times, and it always got harder to concentrate when he was thinking about having someone to share it all with. As long as they were open with each other and asked for help when they needed it, this exploration would be that much easier for the both of them. However, when he noticed Mike's subsequent gloom, he wondered if all that wasn't what Mike wanted after all. Before he could ask, though, their waitress returned with the check and they headed back to the hotel.
***
Sleeping in a long-sleeved T-shirt and sweat pants as usual, Dane climbed into bed first and set the alarm on his Poketch for the morning, making sure to make a note on it to swap numbers with Mike once they were both awake. Even though he almost always woke up a few minutes before it actually went off, he hated sleeping in when there was work to be done, so he always kept it on as a backup.
***
When he first woke up in the morning, he knew he'd beaten the alarm to the punch again, and rubbed his eyes a bit. Once he was able to see clearly, however, he noticed that what he'd been cradling comfortably beneath his arm had not been a spare pillow, but actually Mike. A bit surprised, he blinked a few times before actually accepting that the other boy was there. Chuckling to himself at how cute it was, he relaxed a bit and waited for Mike to awaken as well.
When the other finally started showing signs of waking, Mike said with a smile, "Good morning, sunshine. You remember my name, don't you?" Although it was just a friendly tease, Dane couldn't help but wait for a response. He could tell Mike had snuggled up to him in his sleep rather than doing it on purpose, and from what he'd said the other day, Dane figured he'd get a good reaction out of him this time.
Michele was comfortable. That was all he could describe it as. It was probably the most comfortable he'd been in a long while. It was warm and whatever he was clinging to smelled nice.
Then it occured to him that it was way too big to be Ultima....not to mention he could feel the little Eevee curled up in a tight ball near the back of his neck. That meant that he was holding on to.....
The voice came, and then he knew.
His eyes flew open in shock and he immediately reeled backwards, his face flushed a deep shade of crimson,
"M-My gods-! I'm sorry! I-I'm sorry!"
He nearly toppled off the edge of the matress, waking Ultima as she was nearly swept to the floor. Michele had never been so embarrassed in his life. His face was burning and his mouth was horribly dry. After all the years of sleeping on his own...he'd forgotten that he was a cuddle-bug. He's forgotten that anything nearby eventually found its way into his grasp. Dane just happened to be that thing, this time around.
He frantically tried to hide his flushed face, but he was certain he wasn't getting out of thsi one unscathed. One couldn't brush off something like this in a manly fashion and forget.
"I-I'm so sorry, Dane...I didn't mean to...."
Surely, the green haired male thought him some sort of freak now. Ultima yawned, looking irritated, curling up on her Trainers' pillow to go back to sleep, draping her tail over her eyes. Michele didn't know what to say. What do you say in a situation like this? What do you say to make it less awkward, less embarrassing?
He sat there on his side of the bed, stammering for more words and finding none. He eventually gave up, left to stew in emotion while Dane seemed to be laughing at him. Yes...it must be terribly funny.....It only made him blush more.
"....I....I told you I'd take the floor for a reason...."
Seeing Mike's reaction, Dane couldn't help but chuckle. He'd expected the boy to be more in a huff, trying to play it off instead of freaking out. Still, it was cute, and something about it told Dane that Mike had an issue or two that needed work. Leaving that alone, for the moment, however, he merely sat up and stretched.
Yawning, he smiled and said, "Hey, don't get so worked up about it, okay?" Swinging his legs over the side of the bed, he got up and walked over to his bag, grabbing a pair of clothes for the day. "It was comfy, and I have no problem with it. Does it bother you?" he asked, pulling the new shirt over his head and folding the one he'd slept in before stuffing it back into the bag. As he continued to change, he asked, "You said you had a bunch of siblings back home, right? Did you guys never share a bed?" Once he had finished, he grabbed his shoes and sat back down on his side of the bed. "Just think of me like one of your brothers, okay?" Remembering Mike's bitter comments about his family, however, he added, "Well, how about thinking about me as a foster brother, huh?"
As soon as he was completely ready to go, he made his side of the bed reflexively and waited for Mike to be ready as well. Pulling out the map they'd marked on, he said, "I guess we'll be heading over to Cinnabar today. Let's grab some breakfast on our way out. It's nothing but ocean from here to there, and we don't want to get hungry on the trip, right?" Giving his new partner a smile, Dane waited for him to be ready before leading the way back to the place they had eaten in the night before.
After they had both eaten their fill, they walked over to the small patch of land connecting Palette Town to the ocean. Releasing his Gyarados, Dane climbed onto its head and helped Mike climb up behind him. As the giant dragon Pokemon took off in the right direction, Dane stared out into the vast expanse of sea ahead of them. "Looks like we'll be seeing more of the world than I've ever bother getting a good look at before. Pretty cool, huh?"
Michele couldn't stop blushing. How could he not get so worked up over it? How was Dane himself not worked up over it?
He....He didn't look upset or disgusted at all....
"W-Well, I've shared a bed before, but it's been a long time," he admitted sheepishly.
He didn't think he could ever think of Dane as his brother. No offense to Dane--there was just no comparison. In a choice between his older brothers and Dane....he'd choose Dane. Even as a foster brother...It was just too much.
Michele got himself ready, picked up a still drowsy Ultima, and followed Dane out of the hotel room and down to breakfast.
True to his word, he was not afraid of Gyarados. He hugged Ultima to his chest as he sat down on the wide crown of the Pokemon's head, watching as Pallet Town shrunk into the distance. The salty and cool air felt good on his skin and running over his hair.
"Yeah....pretty cool...." he said lowly, in answer. It was so beautiful....and new to him as well. Michele hadn't bothered to do too much travelling outside of Kanto....he'd been to Cinnabar once before, but he hadn't returned in a long time. Maybe people would recognize him? He doubted it. He didn't often leave lasting impressions on people.
After a while he dug into his pocket, retrieving a PokeBall. Maybe.....He smiled a little, popping the capsule open, releasing his Squirtle. The little water Pokemon was immediately overjoyed about the ocean surrounding them and dissapeared beneath the surf. Good....a little excersize would do the turtle some good.
He watched him play, swimming alongside the Pokemon that dwarfed him, stroking the top of Ultima's head. He felt strangely at peace today.
The sky was clear and the water was sparkling under the sun. He was in good company. Things were...going right.
He was...happy.
"Man.....you're more impressive than I thought," he said lightly, directly to Dane's Gyarados, ".....you must be really proud, Dane. He seems very powerful, and yet he's not frightening like most other of his kind I've seen...."
PostPosted: Sat Jan 22, 2011 9:23 pm
Patting his enormous Pokemon on the head, Dane agreed. "Yeah, he was pretty calm as a Magikarp too. He's still the same guy deep down, just in a much bigger body. I'm really glad to have him." Giving a deep, rumbling grunt, the Gyarados seemed to understand and smiled a bit as much as its gaping maw could. "You know, most Gyarados are pretty wild because their trainers mistreated them as Magikarp. I mean, they may seem totally worthless until they evolve, but they've still got feelings. People throw them into battle carelessly, pump them full of rare candies, and do all sorts of cruel and impatient things just to get them to evolve more quickly. Me, I just brought him around with my other Pokemon and let him get in on a little action from time to time, although the others always had to finish things off. Still, it was just enough to get him to evolve, and now he's one of my favourites."
Watching the little Squirtle playing in the water alongside them, Dane said, "Did you choose Squirtle as your starter? Or did you find him somewhere along your way?" While he had gotten his own Venusaur as a gift when he'd left his home town to begin his adventures, Dane had met plenty of trainers who had found the three starters somewhere in the wild. They seemed rare, but if you were lucky or looked hard enough, you could find them on your own as well. Despite their difference in size, just like Venusaur and Eevee, the two Pokemon seemed to have little issue with one another, getting along better than he would have expected.
After a while of traveling, Dane saw something off the horizon. "Ah ha, looks like we've got company. What do you say, Mike? You up for a double battle? I can see a pair of trainers over there, and I'll bet their looking for trouble," he said, itching for a good fight himself.
While he wondered what they would do out in the middle of the ocean if something happened to Gyarados during the battle, Dane comforted himself with the knowledge that the swimmers likely had mostly water types, and wouldn't have a type advantage over his sea dragon anyway. All things considered, he felt as though the two of them stood a decent chance. Still, he didn't want to rush into battle with his partner unprepared. Unlike when he had been traveling alone, he knew he had to consider Mike's feelings from there on out, or else they wouldn't be on such good terms for very long.
Michele ran his fingers over the tough blue scales of the Pokemon beneath him as Dane told him the story. He was glad that the other male had so much respect for his Pokemon...especially one as difficult to deal with as Magikarp. Personally, he wasn't a huge fan of water...and therefore didn't actively look for water Pokemon.
"No, Squirtle wasn't my starter. Bulbasaur was...though he's an Ivysaur now. He was given to me by a neighbor when he found out I was.....leaving home. He's one of my best friends," Michele explains, "...no....I found Squirtle in the wilderness. He was injured....and he fought me like crazy when I took him to the Pokemon Center....but then I guess he realized that I didn't mean him any harm and then he wouldn't leave my side....so I adopted him, per say,"
The dark haired boy stroked the top of his Eevee's head as he watched Squirtle tumble about in the surf. After a moment, he bobbed upwards, landing easily on the flank of the Gyarados, looking excited. Michele reached over and rubbed the top of his head as well, smiling,
"Yeah....we've been through quite a lot together, huh buddy....?"
Ultima mewled happily. Michele was close to all of his Pokemon....but the story between he and Ultima was special......Special indeed.
At the mention of company, Michele looked up in surprise. A battle? Out here? He frowned a little at the idea. Oh great. That was just spectacular. He got to his feet uncertainly, balancing on the back of the swimming Pokemon. Those trainers probably had mostly water types....he ran his fingers over the PokeBall in his pocket that held his Jolteon...and electric type: the ultimate type advantage against water Pokemon.
Would it come to a battle?
".....I could but......is that such a good idea, way out here?"
People looking for trouble? Just what he didn't want, but what else did he expect?
PostPosted: Sun Jan 23, 2011 2:53 pm
Looking at the Squirtle's smile, Dane couldn't help but smile himself. I'm glad to hear you helped him out. Sometimes wild Pokemon are afraid of humans because they've gotten hurt by them before. So even if you're just trying to help, sometimes they won't trust you right away," Dane explained, remembering one of his own past experiences. "But they aren't stupid. If you can show them that you mean well, they're likely to warm up to you. Come to think of it, that sounds a lot like people too, huh?" he asked, giving Mike a sympathetic look. Even though he still didn't have the whole story of the guy's past, something about how he acted juts struck a cord.
Thinking back to what Mike had said about his family, and then about how he'd reacted when they'd woken up together in bed, Dane felt as though there was something eating at the guy that he wouldn't talk about. Even when they'd first met he'd been a little stand-offish, although Dane had been surprised at how willing he was to talk about the book he'd found and the myths, considered they were total strangers. Had it been someone other than him, Dane could imagine many people just brushing Mike off, or not even approaching him to begin with. When he thought about how quickly they had become friends, it reassured him to know that he must have done something right. If only he could keep it up for a while.
Hearing the uncertainty in Mike's voice, Dane rethought the battle. "If you don't want to, we could always just avoid it entirely. I mean, they can see us even from here, I'm sure, but Gyarados is big enough that we could outrun them. I mean, they're just swimmers, and even if they have Pokemon with them, I doubt any of them would be fast enough swimmers to keep up. It's up to you." While he certainly wanted a good fight and even more so wanted to see how compatible he and his new partner were in battle, Dane didn't want to force Mike to fight.
((Sorry if it's kind of short, not much actual action going on atm, I guess. Ah, but I'm totally loving them as a couple now. X3 I can't absolutely see them clicking after they've had some more time together and climbed a few proverbial mountains. I know they'll come together naturally, eventually. : ) They make a good pair.))
"I wouldn't mind a battle," Michele says lightly, ".....it's just that I've never done such a thing in the middle of the ocean on the back of a Pokemon,"
To be honest, he wasn't sure how it would work. Either way, if it came to a battle, he could definately take charge and fight alongside Dane with no problem. It would even be cool to see what kind of skill Dane was up to. He was probably better than himself, but Michele wasn't one for that sort of jealousy.
The other Trainers had definately noticed them by now, though they seemed to be hesitating to come over. Maybe Gyarados was a little bit intimidating. No doubt that it was....though maybe they would still come and try to battle. Ultima was already looking excited, standing next to Michele's foot in a ready sort of stance.
".....I wouldn't mind a battle in the slightest."
((I know, right!? They are soooo cute! I'll leave it up to you here. If you want to battle, I'm alright with that. If not, I'm alright with that too. I don't care~))
PostPosted: Tue Jan 25, 2011 5:08 pm
Glad to hear Mike give him the clear, Dane said, "Don't worry. I'll have your back the whole time, it'll be a double battle. Just make sure you consider Gyarados. Using an electric attack or something like Earthquake while standing on top of him will hurt him too. Don't forget." While he knew Mike was considerate of Pokemon and cared about their feelings, the guy's admission that this would be his first battle at sea didn't exactly leave him brimming with confidence. Still, they would do what they could.
As they came within range of the other trainers, Dane called out, "Hey! You'd better be ready for a battle!" While the swimmers seemed a little hesitant, they still made their way over and put their game faces on as soon as he'd issued the challenge. Once they were close enough, Dane took charge and greeted them. "We want a doubles battle, with ante. Regular rules. Do you accept?" It didn't take the others long to accept, and before any of them knew it, they were in the middle of a battle.
Thinking through his entire team, Dane finally thew out Haunter, knowing his ability to float would help out. Waiting to see what Mike would choose, Dane watched as their opponents threw down. A Tentacool and a Horsea; honestly, Dane was a little disappointed that it wasn't something bigger or rarer, but he knew not to underestimate an opponent for any reason. Turning to Mike, he whispered, "I'll see if I can put the Tentacool to sleep and use Dream Eater. You can follow up or focus on the Horsea, so keep a sharp eye!" Swinging back around, he called out, "Haunter, use Hypnosis on Tentacool, now!" With its usual laugh, the ghost shot out a beam of Hypnosis rays, catching the Tentacool and successfully sending it to sleep.
Michele thought hard about which of his Pokemon he was going to use. He chewed on his lower lip while he quickly picked off each of his Pokemon, weighing his chances. Jolteon would be the best against the water Pokemon, but he couldn't risk hurting Gyarados.....in that case.....Michele quickly ordered Squirtle back into his Pokeball and looked down at his little Eevee,
"Are you ready to battle Ultima?" he asked her seriously.
The fox like Pokemon didn't even need to answer. And so, Michele entered battle mode. He pointed to the Horsea with one powerful motion,
"Alright! Ultima, use Take Down!"
The Eevee gave a small cry of her own, rocketing forward to slam headfirst into the little blue water Pokemon. The trainer of the Horsea immediately responded with a blast of bubble beam, which smacked Ultima head on, knocking her into Gyarados' flank. Michele bent down quickly,
"Hey...are you alright-? Can you keep going?"
The Eevee gets back to her feet shakily, waiting for the next order. Her Trainer nodded, getting back to his feet, "Alright. Ultima, use Bite!"
It was obvious, in battle, that Michele and that little Eevee were very close....they were intuned to each other in a way that most didn't see these days.
"You can do this, Ultima!"
It was when the Horsea used hydro pump that something went terribly wrong.
The attack missed as the Eevee dodged to the side, the powerful blast of water slamming into Michele full force. His sneakers lost traction on the Gyarados' scales and he slipped, "Whoa-! D-Dane-!"
He didn't know why he called out to the green haired male...mostly because he was the closest creature with fingers, with hands made for grabbing and holding....but there was no way Dane could have reached him in time. His arms flailed wildly as he tried to regain his balance but he was already leaning way too far.
"Waaah!"
Ultima gave a cry of shock as her Trainer fell down into the salty water. She danced nervously on the edge of the dragons' scales, wanting to jump in the water, but unable to. Her panic was obvious and her fear was raw.
Tha answer as to why came second later, when Michele didn't surface.
Michele hadn't though about getting knocked into the water.
He'd forgotten to mention to Dane that he couldn't swim.
(Yay, plots device!)
((Squee!))
Watching Mike work with a smile, Dane once again felt glad that he had met such a good guy. While he wasn't the most spectacular fighter, it was clear he and his Pokemon had a bond.
When the jet of water soared over to them, Dane artfully swung a few inches to the right, just out of range. Still smirking at his opponents, he was about to issue another command when he heard Mike's panicked voice. Swinging around, he saw his partner sliding off of Gyarados's back and into the water below. When he noticed Ultima's skittish reaction, he finally understood why Mike wasn't already clinging to the base of Gyarados's neck. Could he swim?
Thinking quickly, Dane yelled, "The battle's got to wait a minute!" Laying down against the enormous sea dragon's head, he called out, "Haunter, grab Eevee! We've gotta dive." Once the disembodied ghost had taken a firm hold on the little Eevee, Dane told the Gyarados to dive under. While he could swim, he hated going under or being unsupported in places as big as the sea, where he knew plenty could go wrong. Instead, he clung to Gyarados as it dipped its head beneath the water, searching for the other trainer. Although Dane had to keep his eyes closed, he trusted Gyarados, and within seconds he felt something brush his arm gently. Reaching out and grabbing on as tightly as he could, Dane was relieved to see it was Mike when they resurfaced.
Pulling him up onto Gyarados's head fully, Dane turned him over onto his stomach once he started coughing. Patting him on the back and doing his best to help, Dane looked over at the other two trainers waiting for them and said, "Sorry guys, it looks like we have to bail. Maybe some other time." Waiting until Ultima was standing beside the both of them and returning Haunter to his Pokeball, Dane sat down next to Mike to make sure he had spit out all of the water.
"Sorry about that, Mike. If I had known you couldn't swim, I would have been more careful, maybe not suggested a battle. We're on track to Cinnabar again now, so when we reach land we'll get you dried off and back on your feet. How are ya' holding up?" he asked, putting a hand on the other's shoulder inquisitively.
Michele, to say the least, was horrified. He wasn't afraid of water, but he couldn't swim because he'd never really had the chance or the means to do so. He couldn't even flail......his limbs felt so heavy....
And then a hand grabbed onto his arm and his face broke the surface. He heard the muffled sound of Dane's voice, the worried keen from Ultima. He felt a hand pat his back as he coughed and heaved for air. Precious air-!
"D-Dane-" Michele wiped the salty water from his eyes, blinking hard, trying to see, "Wh-Wha-"
He was so confused. Ooh, dear, what exactly had happened?
He looked up at Dane uncertainly,
"......I-I'm fine.....thanks......you really saved me....."
Really. If he'd been on his own, he would have drowned just now.
He felt cold and shivery and his clothes stuck to him akwardly. He could barely manage to pat the scales of the dragon Pokemon beneath him, "Th-Thanks to you too, Gyarados..."
The terror was fading, but he couldn't make himself relax his hand...which was bundled into a tight fist over Dane's shirt hem. His breath stopped coming in harsh gasps and he met the green haired males' eyes. Oh, sweet precious oxygen.....
He swallowed hard, hating the salty tang in his mouth,
".....I c-can't even thank you enough....."
What do you say, when someone saves your life?
All he could do was sit there....breathing and holding onto Dane's shirt like a lifeline.
~~~~

Being dry was spectacular.
Michele felt like a lost toddler as Nurse Joy of the Cinnabar Island Pokemon Center fussed over him, trying to find him dry clothes and bundling him up in a towel. He found himself seated on the couch under a sunny window, in a blanket, with his ebony hair sticking up every which way. Ultima stuck close to him, sitting by his side.
Michele was shivery, but okay.

".....man, that wasn't in the description of 'what to do', eh?" He smiles weakly, "I'd say that's about enough near-death experiances, don't you think?"

The sun creeped down towards the sea, turrning the sky bright red. Nurse Joy kept stiff watch over Michele--as she wouldn't let them leave yet. She wanted to make sure that he wasn't going to get sick for falling into the water and staying wet and cold for quite a while.
Luckily for them, he hadn't been wearing either pack when he'd fallen into the water....so not only was the Orb okay, but everything in his other pack was dry and unharmed. Thank goodness too, because it they had lost the book, they might not be able to continue.
Michele became exhausted of it quite quickly......and as Ultima fell asleep against his thigh, he began to doze against Dane's shoulder....untintentionally seeking warmth.....

(It was short and I had nothing to do so I came back and added more~)
PostPosted: Fri Jan 28, 2011 6:35 pm

Sitting in the lobby of the Cinnabar Pokecenter, Dane smiled as he watched Nurse Joy bring out towels for Mike. "Sorry I didn't push you out of the way in time or anything...I never thought they would end up hitting one of us, I've honestly never seen that before. I'll be more careful next time in picking our spots." Thinking back to when it happened, Dane wished he'd been the one hit instead. In the past he'd trained Gyarados to keep him out of the water and to retrieve him quickly if need be. Unfortunately, the Pokemon hadn't realized that applied to anyone riding him.

"You know...I'm not that great of a swimmer either. That's why I've always counted on Gyarados for transportation across water." Though he wanted to say more to make Mike feel better, nothing was coming to mind, and instead he opted to just stare out the window at the setting sun as well. As the light began to dip and its rays turned gold, he remembered the old amber he'd been given at the museum. Just as he was about to mention it to Mike, he noticed the guy had already fallen asleep next to him. Deciding his little errand could wait until morning, Dane rested back against the seat and closed his eyes as well, letting himself drift off for the night alongside his new partner.

The next morning, Dane awoke first. Not surprised that Mike was still sleeping soundly, he check his watch before realizing that there were a few other trainers in the building with them. From the looks of things, Dane assumed they were there to challenge the gym leader and earn a badge, although why they had all come together, he couldn't guess. Perhaps they were a club or something. Waving to one who'd caught sight of them, he yawned and checked on Mike once more. Now completely dry, he looked quite warm and content despite the fact that they'd both slept the entire night sitting up.

Trying his best not to wake Mike, Dane signaled Nurse Joy over and began asking her about the research facility on the island. "When does it open, do you know? I've got a package to deliver, but we've also got one or two other places around here we need to check out, so I'm trying to plan our day." Despite her insistence that Mike take the day easy, the nurse finally gave him a straight answer before leaving the two alone. Working out a plan in his head, Dane looked over at Mike once more before raising a hand to his forehead. It was a little warm, but not hot. For all he knew, Mike was just toasty from the two of them sitting so close together.

((Sorry, not much, I know. Mike can wake up with Dane checking his forehead, though. biggrin ))

Michele woke with something warm on his forehead. He squinted a little before prying his eyes open tiredly. What was going on-? The sight of a slowly waking Pokemon Center swam into focus and he looked around carefully. He blushed slightly when he met Dane's gaze,
"Oh....did I oversleep? I'm sorry,"
He licked his lips and got to his feet shakily, disturbing Ultima in his movement. Wow, he really needed a shower. He could feel the irritating itch of salt on his skin.
"Ready to start the day?"

Michele was able to take a shower at a house Nurse Joy reccomended. The lady who lived there was old but very kind, and enjoyed having the two young boys in her company. In fact, she was so eldery, the black haired boy immediately had the idea--
While the woman was attending to Ultima (who was loving the attention) Michele pulled Dane aside,
".....I know you have to do something with the research lab here, right-? Why don't you go do that, and I'll see if this lady knows anything about the legend....she might have some clues that the book doesn't,"

He was eager to ask her a few questions. Surely she would know something. The Fire Orb might be around here somewhere and the site of the sunken city was nearby. There had to be some information around here....He just hoped that someone was willing to talk.

"Come meet me back here when you're done. I don't have anywhere else to go, after all," Michele smiles just a little.
