"They are little scamps, aren't they?" he said, playing the Newbie Cop Card for all it was worth. From what he could see, Christelle was doing a wonderful job of playing Little Miss Manners. He would have clapped, but that probably would have destroyed the illusion.
"That's awful news, miss! But, by fortune, I seem to have found a purse not too long ago..." Well, not the whole purse; he had no idea what she would be wearing for the heist and surely it would have set off alarms if her purse didn't match.
What he did offer was a small wallet, nicely kitted out in violet fabric with little frilly bits around the edges. He felt that was suitably feminine and, besides, didn't purple go with everything? The wallet was fat with money, making a rather lovely jingling noise. That was essential, from his point of view.

"Oh my! Thank you so much! You really are a lifesaver, officer!" Her small hand curled around the pouch and drew it into the folds of her stole. "How wonderful! Well," she laced her fingers together, "I do believe I should be on my way. I have an appointment in half an hour and I really cannot afford to be late." Give me half an hour to put Fleur into position and get to the store.
After being dismissed from John's presence, Aila would proceed towards Sableye Jewelers, diverting her path partway there and traveling into the labyrinth of alleys that encompassed the area. On reaching the designated checkpoint, she would release her Venusaur from her pokeball and give her a pat, encouraging, "I will be by shortly, Fleur. Myself and another, as well as Revenant and possibly an Eevee. If you detect any others, you are to tranquilize them." Fleur would give an understanding "saaaaurr" and remain still, hidden in the shadows, even as Aila departed and entered the jewelry shop, the little bell on the door indicating a visitor as she pushed it open.

Half an hour, huh? To a suspicious mind like Alistair, that sounded more like a chance for Christelle to run off with his hard-earned money. Well, someone had probably worked hard to earn it at some point anyway, so it counted. But, he was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt for one reason: Scraps was out there. "Of course! Have a nice day, miss. We are here to protect and serve." Or something like that. Alistair had no idea why policemen always said things like that, but presumed it was somehow programmed in.
As Christelle went through the labyrinth, Scraps followed, a shadow on the roofs. As far as the eevee could tell, it was all one big game, yes? He loved playing Chase! It was so much fun, especially when lots of people joined in! Scraps tended to think in exclamation points. It explained a lot about him.
The bell tinkled nicely, as though tuned each and every day by a professional musician. Presumably, the man behind the counter had many fine qualities, including timeliness, attention to detail, and honesty. Unfortunately, it was impossible to see any of these. The man most closely resembled a spider, with wide lenses over his eyes making them several times larger than actual size. It wasn't helped by the fact that he was all long limbs. When he smiled, it was a lawyer's grin, especially when he looked 'Christelle' up and down. His stare ended with putting a price on her shoes.
"How can I help you?" he asked, quite pleased to help someone who had money.

Revenant noted the Eevee as it followed, for she, too, was covering her human's back. It didn't seem to pose any threat for the time being, though, so she let it be.
Aila waltzed up to the counter with a smile as sultry and self-assured as any noble's and stood elegantly poised before the salesman. "Oh, I simply must see your gems, sir. Only the finest, of course. And please do make it quick. I have a place to be."
