Greetings... came the dark, baritone voice of the male lion. Eyes like living embers glow brightly from a face the color of soot. With a slow blink and a measured glance at his surroundings he draws nearer the group of thread goers. Black pelt adorned in red markings covered rippling muscle and long, strong limbs. Every move has purpose and seems measured or contained, each well placed step causes his Red tipped mane to bounce and sway around his dark, stoic face. I am Zark, he announces by way of introduction, peering about calmly, and ever so slowly a smile tugs gently at the corner of his silver muzzle lending an almost friendly look to the quiet male.

Zark slowly lowers his haunches to seat himself and his tail swishes and sways behind him, twitching about idly, the restlessness of his tail betraying his otherwise bored and withdrawn demeanor.

[female cub approaches him and asks him to play with her.]

The male looked down at the female cub and lowered his head to look at her at eye level. She was someones legacy, this little one. She was a part of another generation. This cute little ball of fur brought the stoic facade down and a friendly smile found the male's face. He looked around and saw no other adults around, or any other living creature, for that matter, and then back at the cub. He tickled her nose with his tail and then darted back a few feet. Tag! You're it! he told her before darting past her, prancing about just out of reach, tail flicking and ears perked forward in amusement. It had been awhile since he had played with a cub. He missed their innocence and the sheer joy that they brought to life, he realized. He grinned at the female and waited for her to join his game.

[she pounces him and proceeds to gnaw on his ear]

The large male, despite his outward appearance and behavior was a softie when it came to the little ones. His weaknesses were cubs and Females. He had that Urge to protect females, though he knew well that most lioness' could care well for themselves. He was pulled from his distracted thoughts when he was pounced and he pretended to fall back, laughing at the cubs antics. He lay there on his side, eyeing the trees around them with careful, watchful gaze while the cub gnawed on his ear. Occasionally his tail would flick and tickle her or he'd bat at her playfully, wrestling with the cub as gently as a lion his size could.
