Evee felt her heart drop once more when she heard an all-too-familiar voice fill the air. Her nightmare was only getting worse; especially the fact that she already was recognizing people she wish she didn't after only shortly arriving. Evee quickly pulled Max aside behind the crowd to avoid being spotted. She wasn't quite sure if Nathanial would recognize them after so many years; but it wouldn't hurt to be careful. Carefully ducking behind people, Evee cautiously peered out as to watch Nathanial's egotistical charade. She felt sick to her stomach to know that he hadn't changed one bit since they last saw him. Or perhaps he did, but in a worse kind of way.

A group of girls swooned next to Evee, causing her to roll her eyes in sheer disdain. She didn't understand what made Nathanial so attractive. Sure he had a decent appearance, but his personality matched up to that of a wild boar. It was revolting to her.

With a slight shove, Evee quickly ushered Max to take leave with her; luckily he had the same mindset as she. As they took off, Evee managed to glimpse at the beautiful yet pompous girl exiting the carriage. The air she gave seemed to match that of Nathan. Evee felt a slight tinge of relief that perhaps Nathanial had found a girl of his own.

Nodding at Max's comment she forced a smile, "Yeah...lets." Her stomach made another lurch of nervousness; stepping foot in that wretched mansion was something she had planned on never doing again.

=====

Nathanial froze as what he saw as the ghost of his brother just waltzed right up to him with a big grin on his face. It only more flabbergasting when his brother threw a solid slap on his back. Jumping back with surprise he stuttered, "R-Ron? Brother? You're supposed to be dead!!."

All of the people seemed to be in shock too; they either thought his brother was deceased too or didn't know that he had a brother to begin with.

"Hey wow" Nathanial chuckled, finally recovering from the realization that his long lost brother was actually alive. "You really are alive" He said looking at Ron from head to foot, "And you've actually grown! Still not as tall, buff, or nearly as handsome as I, but you do look different." He chuckled, circling around his younger brother with a laugh. "And my my, what are you wearing? You aren't quite the lady charmer, might as well dress a little better" He tutted.

"Oh Nathanial, I didn't know you had a brother. You....never told me" Ruby smiled.

"Ha, brother. He was supposed to be dead. Even if he were alive, I would be ashamed to call that thing my brother." Nathanial replied but Ruby only shrugged with a bored expression on her face.

After sneaking through the rest of town and making their way into the rich district, Max stopped Evee just outside of the wall, leading into the mayor's mansion. The wall, which used to be an older, run down, stone wall, that they could have easily gotten through, had been repaired. The wall was now, tall, flat and unclimbable without using specially made tools, it had large iron fencing running along the top of it, and guards patrolled the outside of the wall. It was going to be tough to get inside the mansion now, but Max was prepared, he brought a grappling hook for just such an occasion. Motioning for Evee to follo0w him, he quickly moved around to the side of the wall where the hole used to be, the guards didn't seem to patrol the area around there very often. Tossing his grappling hook onto the wall, He looked at Evee before starting to climb over the wall.

After the both of them made it over the wall Max looked around to see if anyone had seen them, apparently no one had. It was time to take a look inside the mansion. Opening the window to Evee's old room, Max quickly, and silently went inside. Max looked around, even with the fact that the light from the windows was all that was keeping the room lit, he had to admit, this was a nice room. Looking around, he noticed how the room hadn't changed at all since they were kids. He remembered the one rainy day he had come to visit Evee, and how she didn't want him to stay outside and get soaking wet. She invited him in, and the two of them talked all night, until they fell asleep. Max remembered the close call he had the following morning, when he had to hide under Evee's bed in order to avoid being caught. Smiling at this he said to Evee, quietly, "This place hasn't changed a bit. I wonder why old Lucius kept it the same..." He simply smiled and walked arou nd the room, looking at everything, nothing had been changed, not one single thing had moved from its place.

=====

Realizing that Ron was right, Cayden swore quietly to himself, turned to Trinity, grabbed her hand, and said, "Follow me. We need to get out of here." He turned and led Trinity back towards the docks. Cayden knew a safe place, and there was no safer place in town for Trinity than The Black Cutlass. Making his way back up onto the deck with Trinity in tow, he quickly walked into the captain's quarters and shut the door behind them. Moving to face her, he smiled and said, "Wait here a moment." He turned and walked out of the cabin, moving to talk with the few of the crew that choose to remain on the ship. He quietly told them, "I want you guys to tell the rest of the crew, quietly, about the girl when they arrive. Now, also tell them that under penalty of death by the captain's singing, no one is to approach the girl with any ill intentions. She is a guest on our ship, and is to be treated like such. If I hear of anything like that, I will personally make sure that you won't die quickly." After finishing his explanation, Cayden quickly walked back into the captain's quarters and sat down in Max's chair. He looked at Trinity and said, "There's no need to worry, you'll be safe here. I trust this crew with my life, and the well being of my guests." He stood and walked over to Max's wall-mounted map. Looking it over, he asked, "So, Trinity, where are you from? Just point to it on the map here."

Ron smiled, his brother was still as diluted as ever. Always so stuck on his self imposed superiority over all men. He might be good with a sword and strong as an Ox but Ron could move mountains with his bombs or bring the most impressive structures to rubble. "You still haven't learned brother, only girls who haven't been shown excitement want you, they expect a strong man to protect them while they stay at home living a bored existence as a child bearer. I show them what it's like to have a life of excitement and fun." He looked Ruby over one more time Hot damn, what the hell is this dragon lady doing with my brother?, before he turned back to face his brother. "I'm sure only a prude would want to live a life subservient to you as she grew old and lost her beauty raising your UGLY EXCUSE FOR KIDS! HaHaHaHa!." he laughed a little bit as he watched for his brothers reaction.

Trinity jumped a little as Cayden took hold of her hand and began leading her away from the place where they had met with Ron. She stumbled a little bit as she was pulled by Cayden towards the docks again. Was he going to take her back to her former owners? However, instead of doing what she thought he was going to do, Cayden led her up onto the deck of a ship called 'The Black Cutlass'. She was having a tough time keeping pace with Cayden the entire way onto the ship and into the captain's quarters. His whole demeanor while he led her around began to make Trinity quite nervous. She had no way to know what exactly Cayden was planning to do with her.

She watched him as he turned to her and told her to wait for him in the captain's quarters. When he left, Trinity became even more nervous. She had no idea what was going on. While Cayden was gone, Trinity stood in where he'd left her, wringing her hands and biting her lower lip in her nervousness. She glanced around at her surroundings, trying to keep her mind from coming up with the worst case scenarios for what could happen to her next. It wasn't too long before the door to the room opened and Cayden returned. Her eyes followed him as he went to go sit in what appeared to be the captain's chair. Was he the captain of this ship, or a high ranking crew member? She had no way of knowing that yet.

Cayden told her not to worry, but Trinity couldn't help but do so. She had not moved an inch from where she stood since she was first brought into the captain's quarters. As Cayden looked over at the wall-mounted map in the room, Trinity watched him carefully not knowing what to expect. Instead, he asked her to point to where she was from on the map. She tentatively approached the map, making sure to look at it instead of at Cayden because she was still a little nervous. Raising her hand, Trinity pointed at a small island across the ocean. It was halfway around the world from where they were docked at Griffendale.

The man before him smiled, "now that is what i am talking about," he chuckled and stepped forward. the stench of booze made Magnus grimace as is filled his nostrils, and the man reached for his belt pouch.

"one mistake" Magnus said as he grabbed his hand and twisted it about, there was a stomach churning crack as he snapped the bone. Screaming the man did little to nothing as Magnus turned the man about Placing the drunkard in between himself and his cohorts' weapons

"Don't shoot, don't shoot!" the man screamed hand out in front of him as if it could stop them. Chuckling Magnus charged the nearest man and detached his gun hand in a single swipe of his sword. the man let out a wail as he griped the bleeding stump of his arm, and Magnus began to smile in delight.

A commotion could be heard from behind as a man rushed him. Quickly Magnus turned away from his captive, letting the man go as a Chair came crashing down on the spot where he had been a moment ago. the big man that had rushed him stared at the original drunkard who now lay in a heap under the chair.

Magnus wasted no time in silting the big mans throat before two shots rang out. A bullet tore through his blade arm and scraped past his cheek leaving a cut where it had made contact with his skin. Magnus turned to look at them his red eyes glowing with excitement. the two remaining men balked as they saw his face. Two more shots rang out and the two men fell backwards with lead in their heads.

Magnus looked around the room "any one else want to take my stuff?" he asked, eyes dancing with excitement as he looked from person to person wanting to do more damage. He sighed as no one came forward and sheathed his blade as he resumed his walk to the bar. "i am here for some information" he said to the employee behind the counter.

When Trinity pointed to the small island on the other side of the globe from where they were, he whistled in surprise; he hadn't expected her to be from so far away. Turning to her, he smiled and said, "You're a looong way from home then. I suppose it's a good thing you stuck with me. Well, I can't make any promises, but I think we can get you back there eventually, just stick with us, you'll be safe here. Of course... you'll have to work for your stay on here... you'll be paid generously too, no one works for free around here." Smiling, Cayden stretched his arms and stretched a hand out to her and said, "Welcome to The Black Cutlass, I'm Cayden, the third in the chain of command here. You'll meet the captain, Maximilian and his second in command Evee soon enough. They're both nice people... aside from the obvious being... well... pirates. We're quite informal around here, so you don't really need to be standing stock still and such." Cayden continued to hold his smile and his hand out to Trinity, waiting for her reaction.

Trinity flinched ever so slightly when Cayden whistled. However, when she heard that he would ask his friends if they could help get her back home, Trinity blinked in surprise and looked up at Cayden. She didn't know what to do. And, if she was able to speak, Trinity probably wouldn't know what to say either. The other side of it was, Trinity didn't even know if her home was still where it had been when she had left it at the age of six. Let alone if her parents were even still alive.

It was then that Cayden said she would have to work to earn her place on the ship, Trinity looked down at the ground. But when he said she would be paid for her work on the Black Cutlass, Trinity was shocked. While she was shocked, Trinity couldn't help but stare at Cayden. But when she realized she was staring, Trinity blinked, shook her head, and immediately looked down at her feet in apology.

Evee stared around at her surroundings. It was exactly as it was when she last left it, except for a few minor details. It brought back painful memories of how her and Max had to sneak around just to get a few words in with one another and the fear of their relationship hanging on the line of being discovered. She remembered what it felt like to be trapped in this hell-hole, not being able to see the world for what it was worth nor breathe the fresh air that everyone else breathed. It was not worth living for and she hated this place more than any other and the feeling made her almost feel slightly claustrophobic. It was as if she was still trapped in the same dreadful four walls again. She never thought that she would ever have to come back under any circumstances.

"Max, lets make this quick. I can't stand being here, its almost as if I'm re-living a nightmare."
She stated grimly, wrapping an arm around his. It comforted her slightly that this time he was actually by her side; it reminded her that she was no longer imprisoned in this god-forsaken mansion and that she was a free and not the little 11 year old girl that longed for a life of adventure.

With a tug, she lead him out of the room and into the hallway. She couldn't imagine what would happen if they were to get caught, and worse, recognized.

Max looked at Evee, with an expression of grim understanding; he knew it must've been hard for her to be back here after what happened so many years ago. He nodded at her comment and followed when she tugged him out of the room. Looking around he said, "This way, we need to get to the study." It was his turn to tug this time, as he tugged Evee down the hall to the stairs leading up to the second floor; the study was at the end of the hall on the next floor up. Stopping at the bottom of the stairwell, Max heard a pair of patrolling guards chatting quietly about someone, whom Max could only assume was Nathanial, with the way they talked about him. Pausing and waiting in silence, barely breathing until the guards had moved away, Max motioned for Evee to follow him. Quietly moving up the heavily carpeted stairs, Max made it to the long hallway leading to the study. Spotting a man at the end of the hallway opposite the end of the way they needed to go, Max froze. The man opened the door to the room, which he could only assume was Lucius's bedroom, he heard the man, presumably a doctor say, "Baron, it's doctor Einhelm, it's time for your check up." The man walked out side and Max thanked whatever presence was in the sky that The Baron had a thing for heavy carpeting.

Quickly moving down the other end of the hallway, Max tugged Evee to the study and stopped outside the heavy wooden door; it would either open unnoticed, or alert every guard in the mansion. Max decided to risk it and sighed silently when it opened almost silently. He pulled Evee inside and slowly closed the door behind him. He looked around and moved to the center of the room, where the baron's desk was. He looked through the papers on the desk; many were months old, some even years old, it was clear the baron hadn't been in here in some time. Looking to Evee, he said, surprised, yet quietly, "It's not here! It must be..." Max's gaze floated past Evee and to the door they had entered through and he whispered, after a few moments, "...In his bedroom..." Max looked back to Evee with an expression of worry, yet determination in what they were going to do. Later that night, they were going to break into the mansion again and steal whatever it was the baron was hiding.

=====

Cayden smiled when Trinity looked down at the ground again. He reached out his hand and put it on her chin, lifting her head up to face him again and saying, kindly and rather jokingly, "Now what have I told you about that? Keep your head up high, no one is going to punish you for anything. Well... no I can't think of anything they would punish you for actually." Looking her over and chuckling, he said, "Y'know... I think a smile would suit you much more. So c'mon, let me see a smile, just one. Do it for me." Cayden smiled at her expectantly, yet kindly, he wanted to see a smile on this girl's face. He wanted to show her that it was okay to be happy and show it. He wanted to show her that she didn't need to be so subservient and depressed.
PostPosted: Wed Dec 15, 2010 7:53 pm

Trinity managed not to flinch when Cayden lifted her chin up so she could actually look at his face again. However, as soon as she did, she turned her eyes to look away from his face even though he was smiling kindly at her. Her life had taught her to behave this way, and now that Cayden was treating her so differently, Trinity didn't really know how to react. She had never actually once been truly happy in her life given that she had been bought and sold to cruel owners time and again. And now that she was free, she was at a loss as to what to do. Also, Trinity had no idea if Cayden was just putting on a kind act to get her to do what he wanted her to do. With that thought in mind, Trinity took a small step back from Cayden, looking down at her feet again in her uncertainty about even giving a simple smile.

Cayden continued to smile at Trinity even when she looked away from him. When she took a step back, Cayden stared for a moment before saying, "Trinity... I know this must be a sudden and drastic change for you, but you need to trust me. I'm not like your owners, I'm a friend, I'm not going to hurt you or manipulate you to get what I want." Sighed and looked away from her for a moment, gazing out the nearby windows before saying, "I understand you're having a hard time trusting me, after all, I just met you. Just try to have a little bit of faith in the kindness of others." He looked back at her and smiled again, trying to get her to trust him was a bit harder than he thought it would be.
PostPosted: Thu Dec 16, 2010 7:59 pm

As Cayden began to reassure her, Trinity seemed to calm down a little bit. At least now she seemed more apologetic for her reaction. Taking her right hand, she lightly grasped her left arm at the elbow, her gaze still on the floor but diverted a little off to the side. She was only uncertain about how to act now that she was around someone that was the complete opposite from the owners she had had during her life as a slave. Trinity knew that the way she was behaving now was unfair to Cayden, even if it was only out of reflex in her uncertainty in this new situation. After a few seconds, Trinity gave a couple of slow nods to indicate to Cayden that she understood what he was telling her. She wanted to apologize, but being unable to speak that was going to be hard to accomplish at the moment.If she knew where to find a piece of paper and a pencil, Trinity would be able to write out what she wanted to say.

Cayden grinned when he saw her nod slowly. He was finally reaching her at least a little bit. He figured she might want to say something, but being a mute, she couldn't. Cayden looked around, Moving over to Max's desk, he didn't think he would mind if he stole some paper and a pen. After rifling through the desk for a minute or two, Cayden found an empty notebook and a pen. Putting everything back where it was supposed to be, Cayden turned to Trinity, handed her the notebook and pen, and said, "There you go. That should make conversing a bit easier." He smiled at her once again and waited to see her reaction.
PostPosted: Thu Dec 16, 2010 8:33 pm

Hearing Cayden shuffling around through the desk in the captain's office, Trinity blinked and looked at him, watching him. She wondered what he was doing or even looking for. As she watched, Trinity's head tilted to the side in a sort of question. Her anxiety was diverted somewhat with something else going on since she had something else to pay attention to. Though, she did hope that Cayden wasn't looking for some sort of weapon. However, as soon as she thought that, Trinity shook her head to clear it, reminding herself of the fact that Cayden had asked her to trust him and that he was nothing like any people that she had come across in her life so far.

It wasn't long before he found what he was looking for: a pen and a notebook. At first Trinity didn't quite understand what Cayden had taken them out for, but when he held them out to her, it became clear. He was giving her something to write down what she wanted to say with. Taking the notebook and pen from him, Trinity turned the notebook over in her hand once or twice, studying it for a second or two before opening to the first page. Before writing anything down though, she looked up at Cayden, her expression asking him if it was alright for her to use something that belonged to the captain of the ship, Max, when he wasn't around at the moment to approve.
