Alexis smiled gently back at him. She couldn't help it. Blushing, she sped up her pace. After a minute or so of fast walking, she came across a hotel. "Oh, here we go." Alexis remarked, pushing the door open.

The hotel looked a little run down. Hopefully that meant it wouldn't cost them all of the money Alexis had. Ilroché sighed and followed Alexis into the hotel. It felt a little warmer in here, but not by much. He looked over to Alexis and nodded his head toward the counter to indicate that she should inqwuire about a room.

Alexis approached the hotel clerk at the counter. Staring at her with her purple eyes, she spoke in her quiet voice. "One room, please?"
The clerk stared back, frightened. "U-um, yes. T-that would be $350, p-please," she said stuttering.
Smiling awfully cheerfully, Alexis gave the clerk $350, all in cash.
The clerk still stared at her weirdly, but she gave Alexis a card and told her directions to the elevator.
Turning back to Ilroche, Alexis said, "Our room is 172. Let's go." She grabbed Ilroche gently by the arm and pulled him to the elevator.

Ilroché barely had time to say 'Okay.' before she grabbed his arm and pulled him toward the elevator. He thought of staying silent, but he surprised himself by speaking his thoughts aloud. "Why was the clerk afraid of you? I don't think you're that scary." He regretted it the second it came out of his mouth. He glanced at her, awaiting her reaction.

Alexis loosened her ice grip on his arm and slowed to a walk as she approached the elevator and entered it. She pressed the number one and she stared at the ceiling of the elevator. Sighing, Alexis said, "I don't know...it just my presence, I guess...the dark aura that I give off..."

"Dark aura? I didn't even notice you gave off one. Normally I'd be the person with the 'dark aura', being a son of Hades and all." He chuckled. The elevators door slid open on the right floor. "172, right? It should be right near the elevator." He stepped into the hallway and looked on both sides of the hallway "Aha." He stopped in front of the door that had 172 painted on it. "I guess this is it."

"Keep in mind that my dad is, quote, 'the Master of Darkness and Death'," she muttered darkly. She twisted the doorknob and opened the door. There was a plain room with two queen beds, a TV, a moderate sized bathroom and a closet. Alexis sighed in relief. "We're lucky to get a room this cheap."

"It's pretty nice for its price. I expected a lot worse." Ilroché sighed and sat on the bed closest to the window. "I'm really not that tired. How about you?" He laid back on the bed, and arced his neck to look at Alexis. He couldn't help but wonder how exactly they'd find Erebus. It seemed a little hopeless, but they had to try, didn't they?

Alexis collapsed on the bed. "I'm always tired. Stupid anemia," she said, looking at Ilroche with her intense eyes. Sensing his thoughts, Alexis sighed. "About the quest...I figured out some info about my mother. She's not dead, and she's a demigod, also...a daughter of Erebus. She can probably help." Staring wearily at a shadow, Alexis remarked, "So really, I'm not a half-blood, since I have 3/4 god DNA 1/4 human DNA."

"Well that makes you... unique..." Ilroché remarked placidly, but his mind had gone askew. He met her vehement gaze and his thoughts sidetracked from the focus of the quest to how pretty her eyes were. After a moment he came to his senses, blinked and looked away. He sat up and shuffled his bangs to their proper place in front of his eye, obscuring her from his vision. What just happened? Why did my mind trail off like that? It's never done that before... and I hope it doesn't do it again. I need to focus. He expected his other side to say something, but nothing was heard. As if that wasn't weird enough, his mind was trailing into dangerous territory. Refocusing on the quest at hand, he asked: "How exactly will we find your mom? Do you know where she is? How can we be sure that she isn't responsible for all of this, in some odd way?"

Alexis's face darkened. "I don't know my mother very well...I've never met her, remember? Grew up in an orphanage...I guess she was scared of raising me. She lives in Brooklyn," her face expressionless, "where I lived all my life." Alexis searched his face, trying to read his expression. She stared at him, wondering what in the world could he be thinking about. Even her psychic-like powers couldn't go that far.

"Then I guess Brooklyn will be our destination. For now, lets get some rest." Ilroché wasn't tired at all, but he wasn't anxious to continue conversation when his mind was in utter turmoil. Especially over something as random as romance. Why does it have to hit me now? Why should it ever? I have the reputation of a murderer, not Prince Charming... His mind wandered off in that direction as he kept his emerald eyes glued on the floor. He unlaced his knee high boots so he wouldn't be tempted to look at her again.

Alexis observed Ilroche wordlessly as she watched him tie his shoes. Realizing that she was staring at him, she blushed and rubbed her hands together, trying to create friction because her anemia causes her hands to be cold all the time.

Finished unlacing, Ilroche took off his shoes and threw them into the nearest corner of the room. He sighed and got into bed, making sure he didn't glance over to Alexis. He was silent. There was nothing to say.

Alexis appreciated the silence and ignored him. She lifted her backpack with ease onto the bed and started rummaging through it. Alexis took a sip from her water bottle and got out her iPod. She shoved the ear buds into her ears and started blasting out music. Alexis relaxed instantly.
