"Ah, ah," she tsked, knocking the butt of the spear against his side. "I doubt you've been in a war, so your definition doesn't matter. And so long as you cooperate, I'm fine with that." Quintessa flipped her long bangs out her eyes, with a frustrated sigh. If she wasn't so on edge from being around him, she would have been able to think straight and thus this little 'situation' never would have happened. Gabriel wasn't getting out of this one anytime soon.

Her chest puffed out too. "You tripped! Your clumsy, is what you are. A clumsy, talentless, dead man."

Gabriel shrugged again, swatting at the spear. "You know, truces aren't only about wars. It's just an agreement to not bump heads, physically."

Pleased to see she could be reached as well, he shook his head. "Clumsy, no. Talentless, no. Lucky... perhaps." He had to remain optimistic. He knew keeping a level head would be his only chance of surviving this encounter. "Still, I ended up on top, and I am obviously still breathing." He said with a smirk. "Can't deny that."

"Your right, I can't. Doesn't mean I have to be happy about it, though." She grumbled.

Suddenly a dark form plopped into the path before her. Without thinking, Quintessa roared and raised her spear, ready to kill it before the form shrieked, "Stop! Mi'lady, it's me!"

Quintessa turned her head to the side and shoved the form into the light, then physically relaxed when she saw the satyr from before. "Watch yourself. Next time you shan't be so lucky."

"I will." He rubbed his throat, warily eying the blade. "I was comin' to tell ya tha' the preparations 'ave been made for- Whats this? 'e's still breathin', is he?" The satyr laughed and slapped his thigh. "Handcuffed him did'ja, lass? If'n you were that des'purt, I had a cousin-"

"Shut up! Just, shut up!" Quintessa grabbed him by the throat, her eyes a blaze of electric blue. "If you still want that gold, you'll take your mangy hide back to the alley and find a key. You find it, you get paid. Got it?" She dropped him with a growl, and watched as the satyr bolted off.

Hiding a little smirk, Gabriel considered it a small victory and went on silently, still trying to think a way out of the mess.

With the sudden arrival and Quintessa's reaction, his fists came up in defense. Well, would have, if she hadn't started yanking his arm around.

So... his death really had been all planned out... The pit returned to his stomach again. Death... For what?!

If he hadn't valued the blood in his veins, he would have burst out laughing at the satyr.. A tiny snort escaped through his nose though and he looked innocently the other way, watching the exchange from the corner of his eye. Her eyes were blue again... this wasn't the time to laugh.

Shaking from head to paw, Quintessa stared at a loose cobblestone on the street below, counting back from one-hundred in her head.

She blocked out everything, but the white noise buzzing in her ears. The ramifications of the situation were dire. Little shoots of electricity shot off her body at random, reflecting her inner growing rage. As soon as that key was found, she was going to slaughter Gabriel where he stood, lob off his head, throw it in a sack and get piss drunk.

"M-m-mi'lady." The elderly satyr twirled his beard and jumped back when she looked at him. "There...wasn't a key."

"WHAT?!" She jerked the manacles into view, pulling Gabriel's arm with hers. "Little silver key, monogrammed seal - you can't have missed it."

"Y'er right. I couldn't've, which means it wu'dn't thur."

Quintessa's ears flipped back and she visibly stalled.

"....What now?" He pushed, gesturing toward Gabriel hurriedly while looking over his shoulder. "A groups a comin' and if'n he ain't dead ye'r gonna be-" He sputtered and grasped for the coin purse that was thrown at him. "W-whuts this fer? I didn't do nothin'."

"Circumstances change. Get out of here before your caught." She covered her face in one hand, waving him off with the other.

No key. Gabriel's ears flicked back and forth. He wasn't sure if he should feel relieved or upset. No key meant no freedom. But, no key also meant delayed attack. She looked angry enough to kill him right where they stood though and just drag his corpse around.

Allowing his arm to be tugged around while keeping on his body a somewhat safe distance from Tessa's anger, he tried to see the group the satyr was talking about. Though, they wouldn't be able to help him. Magical manacles... Pft!

He rubbed at the back of his neck. What was her plan now? And, what was that about the coming group? "What, got a reputation for yourself?"

Quintessa turned to Gabriel, her hand squeezing the shaft of her spear. "The Order I serve is neither respected nor despised. We simply are." She tapped the dragon on her breast. "Depending on the village's personal tastes, we may be tolerated, but this town hasn't been known for their tolerance. I'm in as much danger here as you, which is why we're leaving. Now."

She intertwined her hand with his and took off towards the docks, careful to stay as close to the buildings as possible. She was broke, and didn't have anything with her that wasn't in the inn, but hell or high water, they would set sail. "Pick a ship, any ship!" She laughed.

Gabriel rolled his eyes slightly and muttered under his breath. "I might despise it a little."

Yanked in yet another direction, and finding the feeling reminiscent of a past relationship, his eyes widened at her demand. "A ship? What, we crossing the ocean? Going to the human lands?" He asked incredulously. And why was he picking the boat?

But, oddly enough, her laugh was infectious. He wasn't laughing yet, but it cleared his head, pulling him from the funk he had fallen into at the death contract reminder. "Eh... this one." He said, suddenly turning and yanking Tessa toward a three or four seater boat that was painted a dark blue. And, no one was around it. "So, are you paying for this boat or you expect me to? Not sure about you, but I'm not carrying much."

"Crossing the ocean, yes. Human lands?" She laughed and shook her head. "No." There was a certain excitement about fleeing town, handcuffed to an attractive stranger that kept her on edge.

"A boat?" She asked incredulously. Quintessa tossed her spear into it as soon as they came close enough. With a flick, she tossed her cloak over her shoulder, laid her head on it and fiddled with the clasp. "Why should either one of us have to pay for something we don't plan to keep?" She grinned.

Gabriel looked between Quintessa, the boat, and the water. Seriously? She was taking him away in a boat? Though, he wasn't going to argue yet. Going by water meant less chance of running into his family. They didn't need to know about this...

He had always wanted an adventure. He should have been more specific.

If the threat of impending death hadn't been hanging around his neck, he might have been having fun. But, the threat was there, as was the spear. He watched it lay in the boat, frowning slightly. "You want to steal it? ...Eh, why am I asking? You seem the type to steal whatever you need." He turned and batted his eyes at her, voice dripping sarcasm. "Like my heart~" Then he jumped down into the boat. Instinctively, his hand came up to help the female into the boat after him, but he quickly yanked it back, hoping she hadn't noticed. She'd probably be offended and smack his ear again.

"And I'll cherish it every day~" Quintessa slapped the back of his head instead. She rolled her eyes, but couldn't help smiling a little at his seemingly immortal sense of humor.

Unfortunately for him she had noticed and was about to lay her hand in his when he yanked it back. She quickly jerked her hand under her cloak, then slunk into the boat.

"That's good to know." Rubbing at his head, Gabriel missed the little smile that exposed Tessa's humor as more than just words. He had a worried smirk on his own lips though. He needed to tread carefully. His mouth has gotten him into trouble before, and this woman was already planning to kill him.

Feeling the boat shift as she boarded, he looked back up, eyes catching on their chained hands, and then a pole with a cloth tied to it next to them on the dock yet. "It looks like that sail goes with this. Are you planning to get very far in this thing? Cause, well, paddling isn't going to go so well like this." He clinked the chains lightly again.

Quintessa rubbed her bare forearms, once again exposing her chest to the chill. The tips of her ears were frayed out in the wind. "It's a days voyage on a ship," was all she said because she wasn't sure how long it would be on a sail boat. She shifted her closer to him, then stretched over him to try and grab the pole with her free arm. She grunted and stretched, flicking her stubbled tail in the air. "Got it!" Quintessa tried to move, but when she did, the boat rocked, so she stayed put.

As the initial shock finally started to wear off, he too started to feel the chill of the air. He flattened his ears, eyes searching the mostly empty boat. "So, uh... if you see something that can be used as a coat... can I have it?" His voice had the half hopeful half begging tone of a child asking for something he didn't think he would get. His light jacket had been left behind, the activity of the game having made it too warm to wear at the time.

"A whole day?!" He practically yelped. That meant a day at least in this thing with her! "You've got to be k-" Distraction came easily though as Quintessa reached over him for the sail. He grabbed the edge of the boat for balance, tossing the female an amused smirk. "I know you didn't agree yet, but the truce offer is still there. Could'a just asked me to grab that."

He didn't appreciate how hard it was to not reach up to touch her hair, shining in the fading light as the sun reflected gently onto the female's face from the water. A midday reflection would have been too harsh for her features...

Quintessa rubbed her hind leg up against him and looked over her shoulder. "Forgive me for having issues trusting complete strangers." That wasn't exactly true. She wouldn't have trusted him if she'd shared the womb with him, which would have made her sexual advances more than awkward.

She slid back into the boat and set up the sail with practiced ease. Her eyes widened and she turned to Gabriel, just registering what he'd said. Quintessa took a deep breathe. The outline of his muscles stole her breath away.

With a little shove, she squeezed her way between Gabriel and the side of the boat. Then she unclasped her cloak, only to clasp it around his neck. "Sorry if it smells." She murmured, staring at his chest while she fumbled with the clasp. What was she thinking? She had her top and he had nothing. This was the least she could have done.
