Manslaughter had been hearing all of these really childish rumors about the famed doe that had led a great buck astray once upon a time ago. Ugh. It made him physically sick to see all of these kimeti, all wide-eyed and hopeful that she was a kind soul, caring and the like. A shiver ran up his spine. As if! But even if there was only a slight chance that she really existed, he had to pursue it. For he knew that she was not a nice, happy, loving doe. Oh no. He knew her darker nature, her grim demeanor... Oh yes. If she was anything like he was sure she used to be like... then these other kimeti would be running in fear by the end of this overly crowded escapade.
And so, the dark -and usually lone- kimeti steps out of the trees and shadows... and makes his way into the mist. With his faithful hound Massacre at his side he calmly makes his way through the crowd, keeping his head up high and only casting a swift glare at anyone who dared look at him too closely. When the two came up to the fork in the path, it was barely a decision at all. Manslaughter and Massacre took an easy right, into the warm, welcoming embrace of echoes that speak forever.
At the very least, by the end of the day he figures he will have the chance to scoff at these loony hope-beleivers. He laughs inside of his head coldly, but keeps his glowing red eyes on the path in front of him, eager to find out if the doe really exists.

Aure peered nervously into the mist, straining her eyes in a futile attempt to see what was ahead. She was scared, yet somehow she felt the need to go on. She watched others make their decision; time was ticking, it seems, and she was still stuck. She had always been indecisive.
Should she heed the call of the ocean or of spirits and the unknown? She closed her eyes. On the left, she heard the waves roll and could almost feel the ocean spray. On the right was a haunting call, strangely foreboding and enticing all at once.
Finally, she decided. It is better, she thought, to go boldly into the unknown. And besides, she hated water.
She trodded towards the right, hoping she made the right decision.

Starry Waters (Fictional XD) was a bit absent minded, she had wandered into the maze on a sort of haze. Her mind was still half asleep and she even felt a small yawn coming on. She glanced from left to right and her ear pricked a bit at the sounds coming from either direction. She tipped her head a bit and smiled at the soft hissing sound like waters sweet spray.
She turned her head to the right and frowned at the ominous echoing silence, no she did not like that one bit. With her choice clear she turned and began to trot along the left path.

She had been walking for some time, exploring as she liked, when a voice caught the doe's attention, floating on the wind, leading her along a path she did not recognize. Suddenly, Dew Drop Sun came to a fork in the road, two paths to choose from, both of them calling, faintly, with the same voice, giggling quietly in her ears.
She could not see anything, for the fog, so she had to rely on other senses -- hearing, smell, her own intuition. She looked between both paths, her ears perking as she tried to discern which she would rather take. On the right, the path seemed... endless, but finite at the same time; echoes called back to her, a breeze seemed to enter and turn back... Off to her left, the lapping of water and far-off hiss of waves pulled at her, trying to drag her forth as the waves she imagined would drag the sand from the beach into its depths.
Dew Drop Sun looked between them both. She liked water, she liked its flow... On the other hand, the almost empty echoes seemed to offer a wider array of possibilities... She took another look at both, closed her eyes, and hesitantly took a step forward onto the path to her right.

She gave a good chase. He skited to a stop, locks smelling of the wind and forever untangled. What a sweet, unassuming voice! He smiled. Locking his shoulders, he threw his hair back and proceeded onwards with his third horn menacingly forward. Let's not play around. Fiend was as harmless as they came. Still, with the dense haze, it would keep him safer marginally. If not, his horn did always pick up interesting trinkets of floral and fauna, and that would make for an interesting story one stale night. Pale yellow eyes glowed with determination and he took the right path. All the more quiet to here you, my sweet.

The Left Fork:
The branch on the left winds and turns, twisting back around on itself, leading Kimeti deeper and deeper into the maze in a way that is reassuring.
Reassuring, at least, until hooves in the dark stumble into the depths of a deep pit, and that hissing sound they thought was the ocean turns out to be the slithering tongues of hundreds of snakes.
Five Kimeti catch themselves on the way down, staggering and stumbling and yes, falling into the pit, but grabbing up some treasures along the way:
xelhaspixiestix / Something Shiny - 20 Lady Aria Starstone / Cat Walker - 19 Lissome Llia / Inverse Dawn - 18 Lilwolfpard / She Steps Lightly - 17 Roxy_roxanna2 / Starry Waters - 16
The rest, however, find their heads rattled and their minds scrambled from the fall, and are unable to recover anything on their way down.
Appeal / Forgotten Feathers - 14 HALLUCINOGENISHAWHATEVER / Wisp of the Imagination - 14 SilverShieldWolf / Finding Water - 14 EchoLimaFoxtrot / Redcoat - 11 Capricorn Sunchai / Seeking wind - 9 Hot Lolli / Always Running - 4 Daijonakain / Breakaway - 4 dbz2010 / Mourning Cloak - 1
OOC: Everyone who took the left path -- you're out, I'm sorry, the maze ends here for you! The pit will lead you back to the beginning of the maze, but now it is closed, there is no way to reenter.
However, the top five rolls for this round have won some prizes:
xelhaspixiestix and Lady Aria Starstone ***PM blue two colors and two adjectives for a free semi-custom kimeti!
Llissome Llia, Lilwolfpard and Roxy_roxanna2 ***PM blue with your favorite color or kimeti for a free snake familiar!

Evening Hush was confronted with yet another choice. This time between heat and chills. She was cautious, perhaps too cautious and decided to continue with that which she knew better. Forgoing the unknown heat of the jungle, she went down the left path, embracing the familiar cold.

Autumns Last Reprise paused, breathing deep of the air, one was hot, heavy and filled with the tempting and wild scent of greenery and shadows, the other was cool and dry, the wind biting and harsh. He stood for a long pause ears flicking as he considered, watching as others moved around him. The jungle heavy air was tempting, hot and warm yet hot could be oppressive. The other was sharp and familiar as fall... He was so unsure, but his feet left him forward to the right, where strange new things waited heavy, hot and strange.

Lull in Sunlight felt the heat from the right against her side and thought of the sun again, whereas the chill from the left made her think of shadows and the dark that only the moon loved--when the clouds let it. And in both she could hear a voice. It came down, as it usually did, to which she preferred. She pulled back from the sweltering heat and the smell of something unknown, pushing into the coldness that the left path offered.

Manslaughter had to smile to himself (though it may seem more like a sneer to anyone else), as he looked around and noticed that the teeming hoard of kimeti that had made their way towards the maze was now only a -still uncomfortable- medium-sized group. Well, so long as the numbers were getting smaller he had nothing to complain about. But before long there was another fork in the path. Once again, left or right, and though normally the biting wind would be pleasing Manslaughter found himself following the heat and turning right to head into the inviting damp smell of jungle. Something that reminded him of home, he supposed...

clip CLOP step STOMP step? Skybled held his hoof up, lowering it to create a muffled step as the comforting echos from his hooves faded away. The road ahead was split in two: left or right? He watched as other kimeti paused like him before picking a route. Should he stay? Follow? No -- there was that voice again, urging him onwards. But which way? He neared the right path. It was... warm and moist, with the smell of something fresh. He backed up to examine the left: cool, dry -- a stark contrast to the other path. The left... There was something familiar about it: was he in a similar place, once before long ago before he took his first step upon the world? Yes, he remembered now. Comforted by a small bit of familiarity, Skybled went left.

Water's Grace found herself at yet another fork. Seeing no rocks in front of her, she immediately got anxious about which path to choose. As she went by the last time, she could hear the panic of other kimeti from somewhere far off, and hoped that she wasn't going to end up like them. Sticking her head into the right path, she felt the oppressive heat soak her fur. Shaking her head, she poked her head through the other way, her fur cooling off, but the wind whipping against her face. Knowing she'd probably faint with the heat of the right path, she decided that going to the left would be better, as the cold was easier to fight off. Walking to the left side she continued on through the maze
