Ligeia's dark eyes got a bit wide before he gave a slow nod of his head. Ahh, so he was happy with what he'd decided? He gave a bit of a smile, wings fluttering behind him. So then he was pleased with his decision? He gave a sigh of relief before he gave a smile, glad that he had come back even more now then before, "Ahh, thank you."

He nodded when he was told that they had to figure out where to begin, he wasn't really sure where to begin either, "I... no, they wouldn't really be my first choice of spells but I could see where an alternate version of the first spell you showed me could be useful, to entangle instead of strike." He told his teacher. He liked to change spells around that he saw to better suit his uses.

Zyane nodded his head enthusiastically. "Yes yes! Good eye my boy, you see spells arn't inherently evil..nor bad. It is your actions that make them that way. Yes you can learn that spell to entrap rather than impale. Just like the Ice Spray balls can be used to make a winter landscape instead of turning a person into a pin cushion." He explained slowly,

"Every spell can be used for good or bad things. So did you wish to learn the Icey Maiden then??"

Ligeia took a deep breath, let it out slowly, then smiled, "I do want to learn it, yes." If the teacher didn't mind, and in fact seemed rather... pleaed, with the fact that he was going to change the spell so that it wasn't one that was deadly he would learn it. He looked down at the snow that filled the room before he gave a smile, "I have to say I like this version of the Ice Spray spell better myself." It seemed like something that would amuse the children that he babysat from time to time though he didn't say that out loud, not wanting to insult his teacher or magic by making it seem like a party favor.

He gave a smile, "I want to learn the spell and I will do my best to learn any others your willing to teach me so long as I am allowed to change them." To make them into spells that could ensnare or slow people down instead of spells that would hurt other people.

Zyane could tolerate that request, though he held up a finger as if to stall the boy a moment.
"Yes, but you must learn the original spell first. Only reason is because changing a spell can be tricky..and I want you to know how to handle the original first and then we can move onto altering it. Is that alright?" He inquired looking at his student seriously. After all you couldn't learn how to make different recipes if you didn't know the main one. Complete sense to him.

Ligeia took a deep breath, let it out slowly, then nodded his head, "Yes, I will learn all of the original spells first." He said, he didn't want to do it if only because those spells intimidated him but it was something that he needed to know so that he could later learn to turn it into a spell that he could bring himself to use against someone. His wings fluttered behind him as he tried to keep his emotions under control, knowing that he needed to keep himself calm.

He gave a smile, "I know that its important to start at the beginning." He would never have learned any of his spells after all if he hadn't learned to summon the two elements and combine them first after all, "Will I need to take off my important things again for this class?" He asked of his teacher, not wanting to risk the safety of his precious bracelet if it was going to be another dangerous sort of class.

Zyane only smiled and then he shook his head, he gestured for Geia to come closer to him and then he pointed with his cane to where a small box lay on the ground.

"No need my boy, we will be using that cardboard box as the target." It was covered in snow a bit hard to see but it was certainly there. "First though of course you must learn the components of the spell. Since you know how to form ice its more a matter of willpower and changing an ice shard into an ice path. Do you follow?" He inquired as he then gave a small wave of his hand a gust of air blowing forth and clearing the snow from the ground. This way it was easier to see.

"Now instead of summoning the water into the air you do it on the ground then freeze it there, you make an ice path and then you will the path in the direction you want to go." He explained in a rush sounding all too eager about this lesson.

"Give it a go."

Ligiea's eyes fell upon the box that would be their target for today before he nodded, his attention on it as his teacher explained what he would be doing today, "I've done... something sort of similar once when I was attempting to walk on water." He said, that had... gone well... luckily Chath showed up to pull him out of the pool. Owls were not that great at swimming...

He took a deep breath and gathered the power to himself, swirling his power around his hands for a moment then allowed it to go from his hands to his feet and sent the power flowing forward from there, freezing over the ground ahead of him. The path was a bit wobbly, looking a bit zig-zagged in its pattern as it went toward the box target. He drew in a deep breath, forcing himself to concentrate harder on what he was doing, making the path straighten out a bit more before he had it wrap around the target as it had done when it was used again him.

"There we go." He murmured to himself, sliding one foot forward to better brace himself as he gathered more strength into himself so that he could prepare the next step of this spell.

Zyane watched, as this was a more advanced spell than the boy was used to dealing with, it needed on many levels concentration and focus.
"Good good...don't worry about it being straight for now...as long as it reaches your destination that is all that matters." He murmured as he then shifted his weight, leaning on the cane.
"Alright my boy the next step requires that you think or will 'up' the water must gather at a focal point and freeze and then again. Don't worry about doing multiples try just one for now."

Will the water to go up he thought to himself before he nodded, making a couple motions with his hand, then pushed the water 'up' and while he was unable to get all of the spines to rise as his teacher was able to do he got one of them to strike forward and it pierced through the box. It was fairly surprising, enough to make him give a little jump before he gave a little smile, "Wow..." He hadn't thought that it would work.

He looked over at his teacher for a moment, "Should I go set the box up again?" He asked, wondering if he should take the box off the spine and set it back up so that he could try to do another go at the spell. Just one spine wouldn't really get the job done would it? The thought made him shiver just thinking about it before he walked over to where the box was, taking it off the spine and the tapped his hand against the spine to push it over. Once the box was set up again he walked back over to his starting point once more to try his hand at it again. While he didn't like the spell in the least when it came to his magic he pushed himself and he pushed himself hard.

He wanted to do beyond just well... likely why he practiced each spell he did know time and again even those that went badly like his water walking attempts. Drawing in a breath as well as more magic to himself he once more tried to get the spines to rise up from the path, more the one this time... though while he was able to do it the speed was greatly reduced and he knew instantly that anyone could dodge out of the way of it... even a turtle...

He watched, the spell wasn't done wonderfully, but it was his first time so he wasn't going to be picky about it. "Yes you could, though later I'll be getting you to strike moving targets so perhaps just keep that in mind hm?" He chuckled as he watched as the boy moved, set the box up again and then repeated the first steps.

The boy had a lot of discipline in him, and he admired that about him. At the same time the boy could loosen up a bit.

"Yes yes...just think simple things, like 'strike', 'box'. The more specific you are the better it will be..but also harder to do." He explained. "Remember speed will come later."

Striking moving targets? With a spell like this one? That should be tough he thought to himself, it would be easier to entangle a target first to make hitting them with a spell like this easier... the moment the thought came to mind he found his eyes going slightly wide, not happy with the fact that his mind was trying to figure out a way to make it easier for him to hit targets with the Icy Maiden spell.

He drew in another breath and along with it more power, focusing on the box again, 'strike' and 'box'... it made it seem so easy... Alright then, lets do this he thought to himself as he moved to tap into the power that was in him. He had a lot of strength to him, had a good grasp of his gift, he just had to do it... he couldn't let himself be worried over the fact that he was using a 'dangerous' spell because for the moment he was fighting against a cardboard box, it wouldn't be in pain, it wouldn't bleed or die, it wasn't alive so he shouldn't be bad.

'Strike'

'Box'

There was a shiver in the air around him as the power he had access to but didn't use often before the spines shot out of the ground and into the box... and a gasp escaped from the owl as it was a sudden pull of power from him as it left him a touch shaky and dizzy. He shifted himself, spreading his feet slightly to steel himself to keep himself upright, "Ahh... one second... just a little dizzy." He murmured, not really noticing as much what he'd done as the fact that he'd used a large push of power all at once.

The man knew the feeling quite well after all he dealt with very powerful spells on a daily basis, hence the cane.
"Take your time boy, you are not use to using your magic in such a way..just take a deep breath and work through it slowly." He cautioned as he didn't want Ligeia to pass out on him.

"Your thoughts are what controls your magic, you must make sure your emotions are in check..else you can lose control of the power. You understand?"

He nodded his head as he took in a deep breath, let it out slowly, then looked over at the box, giving a little wince as he looked at how mangled it had gotten when the spell had gone off right, done what it was supposed to do... and he found himself both pleased with getting it to work as well a little upset that he had done so well in killing the box. At least it was just a box though he thought to himself.

The owl teen lifted his hands up then slowly dropped them down and the spines followed them, sinking back into the path that they had grown up from to release the now holey box. He stretched out all over before nodding, "I understand." He was glad to see that he could get the spines to release something... so long as the ice obeyed him he was happy. The last thing he wanted was to lost control of his power because that would make him and his magic into something bad... which was the very last thing that Ligeia wanted, "Should I try it again?" This time with more control so that he didn't get have such a large wave of power pulled from him again. He needed to be able to feed it a steady source of power instead of a burst of it he thought to himself but that steady feed had to go in several directions at once.

"This spell is really quite complicated, isn't it?" He asked of his teacher.

Zyane watched and then moved over to stand beside Geia offering something close to support magically as his own magic buffered against Geia's. His of course was more dark and menacing that Ice, but under Zyane's control it was solid and firm. An anchor.

"Yes my boy this is a more advanced spell...your are the first student I have had that is able to perform such feats of magic. I am quite proud to see you handling it rather well." He murmured as he shifted his weight on his cane.

"You will need to practice very hard, this sort of spell the more you have going on the more it will try and overwhelm you."

Ligeia turned to look at the teacher as he came closer before he nodded his head, "Really? I am?" He asked, looking at his teacher in a surprised manner before giving a little smile. He wasn't really up to date with what all of the different people in D-Corp were doing with their classes, he only knew what a few people were doing, those who were close to him. To know that he were the first to learn something like this from the teacher was... nice. It meant that he was doing well for his age.

"I will continue to practice to make sure to get this down." As much as he wasn't a fan of the spell a part of him wanted to learn it, to get down all the details of it, to be able to get so many spines moving at once and in sync. It was a complicated spell and as such one that he felt would be beneficial to get down because that would take his magic to the next step. He looked over at his teacher for a moment, "I know what its like having my magic go out for control, it seemed at one point to be growing faster then I was... It was a bit of a pain because each spell out sort of fizzle and pop as I cast them for a while there leaving my hands feel a little frozen."

He looked down at his hands, flexing them for a moment. He didn't bother to tell his teacher that it was during the start of him hitting puberty, his body developing as was his power... embarrassing and not what he felt like sharing with a teacher.
