Tyyne and Evari stopped at the front of a house and both tilted their heads, staring at it curiously. "Huh...talk about overkill." Tyyne giggled at the house and tugged at Evari's hand.
"They must really like Halloween! Come on!"
"Alright, alright! I'm coming!" Evari laughed as she followed her excited little sister to the door. This time Evari knocked since they couldn't find any kind of doorbell under all the decorations and cobwebs. The door opened and a pair of ladies opened the door dressed as witches; their costumes were clearly store-bought and not something they made. Not that anything was wrong with that...heh...that one was kinda cute. Evari grinned as she held out her bag, though for a different reason than her little sister.
"Trick or treat!" The two girls said, watching as the witches squealed and dropped a handful of gum into each of their bags.
"Happy Halloween girls! Love your costumes!" Said the cuter of the two witches. Evari grinned and winked at her, causing the girl to blush under her green makeup.
"Thanks! Love yours too! Let's go, Tyyne~. We still have a lot of houses to see."
"Okay!" Tyyne chirped, taking her sister's hand and waving to the ladies as they walked away. Onward to the next house!

This house was...creepy. Tyyne squeezed Evari's hand and just stared. Did they have to!? Evari sighed and rolled her eyes. "I'm sure it's just decoration, Tyynebug. I won't let anything hurt you." She still wasn't so sure...
They rang the doorbell and a tall, skinny, sleepy-looking man answered the door. When he saw the two girls he grinned. "Hey theeeeere. Oh! Candy...right..." He paused. "I think I'd rather you two come in, actually." Evari and Tyyne blinked. The man leaned in closer, gripping the edges of the door to keep him supported at his awkward angle. "You need to be studi--"
"Just give them the candy and stop scaring everyone who stops by!" Called an exhausted voice from further into the house. The man rolled his eyes and blinked, muttering about how 'she never let him have any fun with potential experiments', disappearing for a moment. Tyyne and Evari exchanged a look before he came back carrying two small candy bar bouquets. Attached to them were notes asking them to please come back soon so they could get to know each other.
The girls walked away rather quickly, disposing of the bouquets in a trash can first chance they got. Guess not every house could be a winner!

[57. Old Wooden house, Occupant is a frightened girl in a white dress; the hallway has bloody drag marks along it, with a bloody burlap sack sitting on the distance. 90. A half eaten ice cream cone. ]
Michael has always loved the idea of dress-up. His daily life involves him playing so many characters, that he can barely distinguish between them and his own true persona. Maybe they are one in the same.
But today - oh man! - today he was allowed to be whoever he wants! Michael had taken extra care to do research on what were popular costumes for this day (vampires, mummys, witches) and chose something out of pop culture instead.
He is Darth Vader.
He taped construction paper to his TV head to roughly mimic the villain's features, and wore one of his mom's tablecloths (navy blue, but in the night, it looks black enough) as well as all the black clothes he owns. All of them. Needless to say, he's a little sweltering in the moderate autumn night. He wasn't quite sure what his own motivation was in the candy collecting part, seeing as not he, but his mom and uncle, would be the ones eating it. He was settled on the fact that it was acceptable for him to play dress up in public, perhaps.
Ding dong. He steps back, holding a white pillowcase that is a stark against his dark clothing. The door opens on its own accord, seemingly, until a creepy girl answers cautiously.
"Tricker treat!" he garbles loudly, lifting his pillow case.
The girl looks confused, peeking nervously over her shoulder at the sack and at the hallway door. Someone shouts angrily at her from another room, but Michael can't quite make out what was said. Whatever it was seemed to spook the girl, because she hurriedly stuffed her half eaten ice cream cone into Michael's empty pillowcase (which, of course, landed ice cream down) and slammed the door.

[38. Normal Looking House, No Decorations at all, OVERLY FRIENDLY looking occupant dressed in a blue body suit with a chicken tied around their waist by a cord (chicken cordon bleu, get it?!). 9. A Jar of...Eyes? Ohgod I hope they're just convincing props... ]
Michael storms up the walkway of the next house, doing his best Vader walk impression. He hums out the tune to give himself the theme song.
"Dum dum dum dumdum dum dum dum dum!"
Okay, so he's only recently been trying to branch out from movies of his own genre preference, and he half dozed through the original trilogy (he'd forgotten to plug himself in at the start), so his impression is only half convincing of a true fan.
He almost stumbles up the steps as the table cloth cape gets under his foot. A woman dressed all in blue catches his fall.
Michael sees the person's cord first, and gets extremely excited that he's met someone like himself, for the first time ever. But as he tilts his head farther up, he is very quickly disappointed. It's a fat woman in a very unflattering blue body suit with a cord tied around her waist and a rubber chicken on the other end. He doesn't get the joke, and instead assumes it's some character from something he's never seen.
"Tricker treat!" he mumbles, raising his pillow case.
"WELL AREN'T YOU THE CUTEST VADER I'VE SEEN TONIGHT!" she bellows, patting Michael on the head. She looks a little confused by the sound it makes, not seeming to clue in that, yes, his head is the rectangular box.
She seems deranged. Michael takes a step back down the steps, nudging some of the construction paper pieces that are obscuring his vision. "Candy?"
"HA HA HA, YOU'RE NOT QUITE CAPTURING THE CHARACTER!" the woman screams. Michael is completely offended and put off by this woman's forcefulness and by her offending him by not getting into character. He straightens up, raises one of his hands, and mimes a choke on her.
The woman plays along, writhing and falling to the ground. When she doesn't get back up, Michael steps over her and takes something out of her basket, shoving it into the pillow. It smashes, oozing a thick liquid and leaving glass shards collecting at the bottom of his bag. He stares at the contents, trying to make out what they are in the dim light.. balls of something? He's just upset that his bag is a soggy mess so early in the night..

"Vell vell vell! Vhat do ve haff here?" The man, dressed up in the tackiest Dracula costume the dollar store could provide, said, his voice a rumbling laugh as he watched the the blonde child make his way through the "Veri & Skeri Cemeteri* he'd sat up in his front yard. "I deed not know pajamas vere conseedered a costume." he teased, faking an evil laugh.
Amaranth stood a moment, unamused by the horrible accent or comment on his costume. "Trick or treat." he said, his tone as flat as his cold obsidian eyes as he held his plastic orange receptacle out to the not-so-funny man. The sooner he got his candy, the sooner he could get away from this comedy-abomination.
The man chuckled, not noticing the child's annoyance. "Vell, aren't ve ze quiet one? Here, maybe some sugarrr vill loosen you up, eh?" the man chuckled out, dropping a bag of regular Skittles into the child's pumpkin pail. "Haff a happy Halloween, yukyukyuk!" His farewell was interrupted by the most grating laugh Amaranth had ever heard. The boy nearly flew out of the yard, making his way to the next house.

Amaranth's pace slowed as he approached the next house, eyes narrowing. For all the world, it looked empty. But, from within the darkened windows, the horrible screams ripped through the night. The sounds couldn't have issued from any human throat. The blonde took a deep breath, forcing himself to make his way up on a porch. It was probably just a recording, after all. Just a recording. Nothing to worry over. Just a-
The man fell through the door, shutting it closed behind him. His shoulder was bleeding profusely from a wound on his arm. Or maybe that was just corn syrup and dye? The man was breathing heavily, taking a moment before noticing the child. He stumbled forward, shoving a gun into the child's hand. "Look out for the zombies...." he muttered before crumpling to the ground. He twitched, then all movement ceased.
Amaranth looked from the man to the gun. He didn't care if this was an act or not....the gun was very real. Dropping the weapon, the child turned tail and ran as fast as he could from the house.

The boy slowed after running a good block, his breath coming in hard pants as he doubled over, bracing himself on his knees. He should be safe here....far away from whatever in seven hells he'd just seen and hear. He made his way to the next house warily, the darkness and silence of it creeping the lad out. On a normal occurrence, that wouldn't bother him. But the happenings at the last house had left him on edge. And who could blame him?
He walked up to the occupant, holding his pail out a slightly shaky hand. "Trick or treat." he whispered, his voice barely audible even to himself. He waited a moment, but he man in front of him didn't move...didn't make a sound. The sundial child cleared his throat before speaking up. "Trick or treat." he said, his tone louder and firmer. Still no response.
The boy eyes the candy bowl a moment before reaching out and taking a handful of the generic bubble gum. He nodded his thanks before heading back off into the night.

Tish had been ready to drag her little bundle of babies home after the incident in the graveyard, but Faiya absolutely refused to go just yet, and had instead set off toward a.... run-down shack? the toddler didn't seem bothered by the overall creepiness of the building, any more than she had been bothered by the "skelly-man" in the graveyard. Upon seeing the creepy woman at the door, she beamed her brightest smile and said "Tick-or-treat!"
But she didn't get candy, or a toy, or those paper ticket thingies. This was something scary. Faiya dropped the heavy skull and ran back to her Mama, whimpering but still insistent that they keep going.

The next house they went to was refreshingly normal, though the man handing things out was decidedly drunk, causing Tish to grip Faiya's hand a little tighter than was necessary. The little girl, already recovered from the skull handout, eagerly held out both little blue mits and her pumpkin bucket for more prizes.
She didn't expect to get 1000 gold, let alone in a...what was that? Neither toddler nor mother could figure it out.

After the increasingly creepy and altogether strangeness of the night, both Faiya and her mother were rather relieved by the next house. An ordinary apartment, with a grumpy inhabitant was much safer than some of the other things they'd run into. And Faiya's crows of delight when she got three kit-kats made it that much better.

This was.... strange. Faiya and her Mama had gone up to the newest house, when they both heard the sound of creepy voices singing - but not Miri's. Looking at the schoolchildren who were in there - where was the grown-up? Faiya knew they were still too little to be there without a grown-up, the blue-skinned child inched away slowly while they stared at her and kept singing. Time to try another house . . . and she would never call her sister's singing scary again.

Amaranth was approaching the next house, but the doors flew open before he could even make it to the front door. The scared woman flew down the steps and past him, screaming unintelligibly as she went, paying no notice to the child as she hurried to her car. Her hands were shaking as she fumbled with the keys, tears blurring her vision.
The blonde in the brown robe narrowed his black eyes behind the empty glasses frames, peeking in the front door. It looked normal, so what was the pr-....were those walls bleeding? Amaranth didn't have time to contemplate this, however. A small, glittering fairy darted around the corner, and following behind it was the most terrifying thing Ama had ever seen in his entire life. He didn't wait around for it to notice him, finding himself running once again in sheer terror.
(( If this keeps up, Ama's going to be afraid of Halloween ))

Oh, thank goodness, this looked like a nice, safe house - it was decorated in all things from the 'cutesy' type of Halloween, including a giant inflatable Jack-O-Lantern up on the roof. Faiya wondered if she could bounce around on it, but then returned her attention to the doorway, where a lady in a Minnie Mouse costume was handing out candy. Faiya got in line and trotted back to her mother a moment, later, two coffee crisp bars added to her bucket.

"Ah, Faiya, I don't think they're going to be giving out any treats," Tish said as Faiya led her towards a plain house where the occupants were clearly in the middle of moving. Not that it stopped the toddler, as she marched up to one of the people and demanded a trick or treat, before waltzing right back to her mother with a small bag of chips.
"They gave me CHIPS, Mama!"

Another cemetery. Just great. Still, this one didn't have the skelly-man, just a little girl who had a big bunny and red eyes like Miri's! But... well, Miri's eyes didn't glow. Still! IT was a another little girl, and Faiya skipped right up to her. "I like your bunny; can I have some candy please?" She was given a whole two Mars bars, and waved cheerfully at the red-eyed girl. "Bye now! I hope you can make some friends!"
