subtle_anarchy I believe that is wrong. You dont see us and other minorities going " THE PASSION IS FILTH!" All both movies are is an explicit showing on life that breaks the mold of most movies. Of course it's not a family movie-- It WAS rated R. and if you ARE christian (referring to the ones getting pissy) and your children saw it, you would have had to let them see it. there wasnt as much controversy on the movie in my community-- but then again, it only played in certain theaters. Only one common mainstream theater would play it-- but that is one step closer to an equal righted world. You have a point there. 3nodding

thats by far the most retarded thing i've heard all day.
ok IF TWO PEOPLE FALL IN LOVE, AND MAKE A LIFE TOGETHER, TO ME THAT QUALIFIES AS A FAMILY, NO MATTER WHAT GENDER YOU ARE.
and w.e. because of gay people, adoption rates have nearly doubled, they're giving those poor children homes. the world is over populated as it is, so whats the point of everyone having a ton of kids if there's some many already without homes??

I don't personally care to see that movie much.
Yet, my one friend is intense about the whole "gays are going to burn in hell" ideal she has picked up from the Bible, you know, near the part that says you can't mix fabrics and grapes from one batch with another batch.
Pleh!
I get very annoyed everytime I have to feel a little guilty for offending her with my egalitarian views.:

This is just another example of fundamentalists trying to change the world.
If a person (in this case, the homophobe) finds a certain movie objectable, they shouldn't spend their money to see it. Period.
They shouldn't complain, all they have to do is purchase tickets for another movie. It's that simple.

omg... OMG OMG OMG. ok. sorry. my bf and i were on the phone and looking at our local theatre site for movies to go see... and i stop and think Brokeback mountain... he lives really close to our theatre and he goes there alot. the freaking conservative asses of out city came and protested at our Theatre... and they stopped showing it... all of our friends and us were going to go protest against the protestors... but we figured that it'd only cause more problems... we're a total redneck town and we'd have a better chance of getting shot or run out than making a difference. it sucks. yeah, my ocntribution. i'd go on about this but its way too late.

He's obsessed with western movies... but he feels that if he watches something that sortof... i guess... contradicts the stereotypical Westerns, he might loose his idea of what the old west really was like... so he might not let me buy it... whatever.

FayoreiX2 I don't personally care to see that movie much. Yet, my one friend is intense about the whole "gays are going to burn in hell" ideal she has picked up from the Bible, you know, near the part that says you can't mix fabrics and grapes from one batch with another batch. One of my classes had an unexpected off-topic debate about what happens to a homosexual when he/she dies. I had to butt in with an interesting point, even if being homosexual is a sin, that doesn't mean that they are instantly condemed to die. But those of us who are gay, can't help it, and most don't want to change it. I say if you are saved, you're saved. Sadly not everyone agreed with me and my dear friend Samantha who is herself a lesbian, was seriously offended and emotionally hurt by the comments the other students had. They hadn't even noticed she was there during the loud debate. If I had been a more athorative figure I might've been able to change more views. I was able to clarify a couple of people though.

That is total B.S. everything is immoral now a days so why pick on one thing in particular just because it is starting to appear more often. Damn paradigmaphobics >_<

I saw the movie and really enjoyed it, although I don't see why "Brokeback Mountain" is being singled out. I don't see anyone protesting against "Hostel" or "V for Vendentta" (at least on a scale as large as BBM) since they have things that people could consider immoral as well. Instead of protesting at Wal-Mart for selling the movie I think it would be a lot easier just to not buy it and let everyone else make their own choices.

Both Hostel and V for Vendetta had more action didn't they ? I haven't seen Hostel, but I think it does. The majority of the population of moviegoers is blinded by action. All they want to see is guns, knives, and blood. At least that's my view.

Personally, I say it's art. And what's more, it's a movie. What's it matter if it's about something you don't agree with? Deal with it. That's life.
And really, we live America. It shouldn't matter if someone makes a film about gay cowboys. I mean, honestly . . . If someone wants to go see Blokeback Mounting, by all means, let them.
