Amaidi walked over towards the edge of the whirlpool again and stared down at mercury, who had apparently lost it. She shook her head and managed to splash him in the face again. Amaidi leaned down and shook her head before bopping Mercury on the nose. "Mercury. There is no tidal wave. I pushed you into the tidal pools" she sighed shaking her head. Besides if its a tidal wave. We'd be up there already" she chuckled motioning her head to the feels of heather.

Mercury's brain finally caught up with reality. He looked around him, noting that all the fish had fled and an eel peered at him with reproach. "Ah, so there isn't. That would be my fault." He felt a blush flare up under his skin as he hauled his wet body onto the rocks.

"well it is understandable. We'll have to tell all these..." amaidi trailed off and instantly thought of her grandfathers and her father who wouldn't take too well to the whole their baby granddaughter/ daughter would be mated off. "maybe we should run away to china"

"Why, what's in China," Mercury asked, shedding pounds of salt water as he shook out his coat. Being a very lucky fox, Mercury had no family other than his adoptive mother Runaiu. He was quite sure Runaiu would be happy that he was happy, as long as she didn't know he got tough love sometimes. She could be quite protective of her adopted son sometimes.

"well you see my dad is a very protective fox and he tends to not like surprises. I havent seen him lately, although I have been trying to track him down to tell him about you. now I get to say I have a mate. he doesnt really like surprises all that well. Then I have my mom to tell and my aunts and uncles and grandparents." amaidi groaned shaking her head. "thus before they all kill us I picked the furthest place away possible"

Mercury tilted his head. "I see your point. But they would find out eventually, and now might be better than later when their might be.....ah...more, little surprises as well."
He thought about this for a moment. "Though I suppose when your father faints from the shock of it, it would be an excellent moment to make our getaway."

Amaidi smiled very weakly. "uh well thats if he faints. he might attack you as well. Ugh and then I have to tell Tokala my uncle and...." Amaidi trailed off and shuddered. "How about we tell Runaiu, your adopted mother first and I'll think of ways to tell my dad. Maybe get one of those large cone looking things the humans yell through that makes them louder."

"Or maybe find a canyon. Tell him to meet us at the bottom, we go to the top, shout the news and run. Unless your father is a Phim." Mercury shuddered a little at the thought. Heights didn't bother him, but he doubted very much that he would enjoy any kinds of torments a flying creature could deliver.

Amaidi shook her head glad for very small favors. "No, no one in my family is phim or any part phim that I know about. So the canyon Idea might work." amaidi chuckled smiling at her mate. She paused and smiled again. she was still slightly getting used to the word. Her family might kill her and mercury but she was rather tough herself.

Mercury nodded, then tilted his head to the side in thought. "The toughest part of telling Runaiu is finding her. Momma's a wanderer. She prefers forest, last time I checked, but she could be anywhere." He supposed that was one of the downsides of not sticking with your family, you had no idea where they might be.

"we should find her first. I know where the rest of my family is. My mom's family is all in lunarie, although I dont know exactly where their tribe is. My dad is in some forest tribe called omaticaya or something like that. Uncle Tokala is in the mountains in a tribe called Caledonia and the vixen that raised me is near the ocean."

Mercury mused over that. He'd heard of Lunarie, they were a large enough tribe. Omaticaya he knew, vaguely. Runaiu's brother, Sin, had gotten into a fight with a member from that tribe. Momma had only mentioned it to scorn her brother.
"We can start in the forest. I think I know where the field is that I first met her in. I can get my bearings from there, though it might take a few excursions to find her."
Mercury looked around him, then at Amaidi. "We might not get to see this place again for awhile, given all the traveling ahead of us."

Amaidi's face dropped again and she looked around her beloved marshes and beach before shaking her head and turning back to mercury. She had been away from this area for long periods of time when she went out searching for her family. It would be a bit sad but it would be okay because she could be with mercury and there would surely be other beaches to explore and enjoy. "its okay it will still be here when I come back" she told him.

'Hopefully,' Mercury added as an afterthought in his mind. He'd been here once during one of the super storms, it got pretty intense!
"We can leave tomorrow though," Mercury said. "Let's take the rest of today to relax. Enjoy the tide pools, get stuck in some quicksand." Really, the quicksand in the marshes had it out for him!
((Figure we can putter along with small time skips of them in different places in the march/ocean to kill some space, then end with a time skip to the next morning and them setting off. Hopefully that gets us where we need to go lol.))

Amaidi chuckled. "ah well that sounds like a plan, although I dont know anyone who is as bad as ending up in quick sand like you are" Amaidi rolled her eyes. As Mercury just attracted trouble Amaidi often had to get really creative just to help him. She was seriously turning into some sort of ninja fox. She chuckled at the thought of her in ninja gear.
