Xiu smiled and nodded. Yeah, he did not mind going for a second round the Ferris Wheel if that was what Lazarus wanted. It had been a fun ride after all although the scorpion had been rather quiet the whole time. Lazarus too, actually. But the white Sigel could not see how that would bring the two Sigels together. They should really just shake hands and get this over with. It was right about there that Lazarus declared that he did not want to ride the Ferris Wheel anymore; an attitude Xiu considered a little childish. It was obvious that Lazarus had wanted to go on the Ferris Wheel. One did not need lie detecting skills for this (even though it helped). Lazarus' attitude was about as easy to read as an open book. Floating past Rivener, Xiu pursed his lips and took hold of the Sigel’s hand. Pulling Lazarus over to the Ferris Wheel, Xiu pointed at Lazarus then at himself, indicating that they would both ride it. After that, Lazarus would ride with Rivener on the Ferris Wheel. That would give each of them two rounds on the ride and it was fair for everyone.
Come on said Xiu mouthing the words to Lazarus as he tugged the reluctant Sigel. Stop being a wet blanket already!
But Lazarus was already attempting to pull away from him, showing his stubborn side. Well, two could play that game! Gritting his teeth slightly the white Sigel gripped Lazarus' arm with both of his hands and practically shoved Lazarus into the Ferris Wheel when their turn came. Giving the attendant a look that clearly meant stay out of this, Xiu pressed the safety bar down and waited.

Rivener had been half-convinced that his little suggestion would work, when Laz's face lit up like that... But the Fire Sigel backtracked soon after. Rivener sighed. This wasn't going to work after a-
Xiu, surprisingly, was the one to take the reins then. Determined, the White Sigel took Laz's hand and pulled him to the Ferris Wheel. Xiu must have also clearly seen how Lazarus really HAD wanted to go, then lied about it. The Pi Yao could be rather bullheaded, Rivener noted with a slight smirk as he watched Xiu all but shove Laz into the Ferris Wheel seat.
With a friendly smile (still faked, but easier to plaster on now that Rivener saw some kind of progress being made), Riv leaned against the fence and waved at the other two, watching them take off on that slow ride. He then turned and began watching the crowd, pretending he wasn't keeping an eye on the two Raevans sitting together...
If things progressed between them on the ride, Riv's work would be done.

Xiu's actions were sudden and unexpected, Lazarus felt his heart take a leap and his face blushed as Xiu grabbed his hand and practically dragged him to the ferris wheel, the strong grip of his slender fingers against his warm skin felt... electrifying. His heart was racing madly, his thoughts jumbled up, his emotions leaping everywhere, he is not ready for this! Tugging slightly and shaking his head, he tried to free himself away from Xiu's grasps without hurting him. But much to his chagrin, the white Sigel strengthen his hold by gripping him with both hands, and before he knew it, he was shoved into the ferris wheel seating with the safety bar locked down on them. B-but, he's not ready!
The ferris wheel started moving when the safety bar was secured, allowing the occupants of the seat next to them to get off and replaced with a pair of couples. He could only stare in disbelief at Xiu, did he really just pulled him onto the ferris wheel? But that would mean... Xiu wanted to ride it with him! He couldn't help but felt hopeful again. Flushing once more, he peeled his eyes off of Xiu and looked away, suddenly realized that they would be alone for the next 15 minutes. His heart raced at the thought, the beating so strong that his chest felt tight and ready to burst open. What should he do? What should he say?
"A-are y-you sure... this is okay?" Damn it, that stuttering habit when he was nervous resurfaced. Although his attempt to talk was hampered as his head was lowered, and not looking directly at Xiu. He couldn't meet Xiu's eyes right now!

Although the safety bar had been lowered, the white Sigel continued to keep a wary eye on Lazarus for any sign of escape and had only relaxed then the Ferris Wheel had started to move so that the next couple could get on. For some odd reason, the fiery Sigel was acting a little agitated, his gaze constantly shifting from the white Sigel to …something interesting on the ground apparently.
"A-are y-you sure... this is okay?"
Xiu was amused. Of course he was okay with this. Lazarus was his friend after all and a ‘senior’ at that. Well….so was Rivener but unlike Rivener, Lazarus seemed to lack confidence recently. Reaching out, Xiu patted Lazarus’ hand in a friendly and reassuring manner before settling back onto the Ferris Wheel. They had gone rather high up now and Xiu could see the tops of the tents once again. Chuckling, Xiu pointed to the bright lights of the various games beneath and the happy people around it.

When Xiu gently patted Lazarus's hand reassuring him that it was fine, the incubus's crimson eyes lifted a little, looking at the retreating hand, then at Xiu. Although when he did, Xiu was already pointing at the bright lights down below. But instead of following the other's gaze, he could only look at Xiu. There was a child-like glint in his crimson eyes, vulnerable, longing, as he looked at Xiu's face outlined by the bright lights below.
Being up in the air so high up from the ground, everything suddenly became more quiet. The sounds of the carnival were further away, seeming muffled by the air surrounding them, only the creaking of the ferris wheel were heard. And with the welcoming silence, Lazarus's emotions calmed as well. But there was still a constricted feeling in his chest that made him difficult to breathe. The incubus had known about this feeling before from various sources, it was written in countless books, declared in numerous movies, and sung by many singers. But... is this really the feeling he thought it was? There is just one way to find out... but...
He quickly looked away when Xiu turned back around, his eyes falling onto their hands on the safety bar, and suddenly he realized how close their hands are, with Xiu's fair fingers barely brushing against Lazarus's dark skin. As if his actions were driven by his heart and not by his mind, Lazarus's pinky twitched, his fingers unhooking from the bar, releasing his grip. Then gingerly, with a delicate touch, he rested his hand on Xiu's.

It was true that the higher the both of them went, the quieter the atmosphere got. Xiu hummed a quiet tune to himself while the wheel got even higher; drumming his fingers absently as he did so. The white Sigel wondered if Lazarus was enjoying this. The Sigel seemed rather quiet. It couldn’t be that…Lazarus was afraid of heights could it?
The placing of Lazarus’ hand onto Xiu’s made the white Sigel blink in surprise and Xiu turned to give Lazarus a questioning look. It was then that…
Xiu’s heart skipped a beat at the sight of Lazarus’ expression. It…Lazarus…was- he looked…
“Lazarus…,” mouthed Xiu softly and silently. Reaching out, Xiu gently placed a hand onto Lazarus’ warm cheek and smiled. “You can…tell me your…troubles…,” said Xiu, once again mouthing those words. He was here and he was willing to listen.

When his crimson eyes inadvertently locked with Xiu's bright blue ones, seeming to be made brighter by the full moon in the sky, Lazarus found himself unable to pull away. He let out a small gasp when Xiu touched his cheek, smiling gently. But strange enough, he found this gentle gesture... calming. This was the feeling that he so treasured, this gentleness that makes him forget his worries, the warmth that soothes his being. This was what he longed for.
It reminded him of the time when they were at the Market Street, but this time... just without unnecessary abilities. Closing his eyes, he leaned into Xiu's hand, his face took on a rosy glow as he inhaled slowly, deeply. His other hand still resting atop of Xiu's, his finger gently curving on top of the other's.
When he opened his eyes, he did not pull away from the hand, nor did he look up at Xiu. With his eyes half-lidded, he just looked down at nothing in particular as he was deep in thought. He finally realized his feelings for Xiu, and he know he was this close to telling the PiYao about it. But... would the other pull away if he told him? Would he be... rejected? And worse of all, what if he couldn't even keep the friendship? His heart felt heavy at the thought, is this worth the risk?
The ferris wheel creaked softly as they reached the peak finally, still loading in passengers at the bottom. Lazarus's crimson eyes lifted to look at Xiu's caring blue ones at that moment, and he suddenly realized... everything would be alright. It was just a gut feeling, but still it was something right? "Xiu... I...." He started, but pausing as he felt his heart racing once again, his entire body in full alert. His fingers gripping tighter around Xiu's hand.

Blue eyes met with Lazarus’ red as Xiu continued to place his hand upon Lazarus’ warm cheeks;-cheeks made warmer by the other’s growing blush. Flabbergasted, Xiu blinked and had to pull his gaze away from Lazarus; his thoughts racing wildly like a steam engine with too much coals in it. W-Why was Lazarus…blushing like that…and…and…come to think of it…his own face was feeling rather hot as well; especially so when Lazarus’s hand closed around his in a gentle…no, the touch was not only gentle. It was also hesitant and shy; as though seeking permission and all at once hopeful as well. It is funny isn’t it, what can be made out of single touch of the hand?
Or perhaps he was really reading too much into this. Lazarus was a male; he’d never fall for another male. Come to think of it, shouldn’t that be applied to himself as well? But what-when it came down to it, really came down to it; was the difference? Feelings aren't something physical and…and…
Hazarding a glance at Lazarus, Xiu felt his breath caught in his throat as their eyes met again for a second time. The moon was high and its silver light made everything seem so different from the garish lights of the carnival down below. Up here, everything, even time itself seemed to have slowed down; as though waiting for that one moment….
"Xiu... I...."
Xiu felt his cheeks colouring again as Lazarus’ grip tightened even further around his fingers. T-This was certainly awkward…
“Y-Yes?” mouthed Xiu with his heart beating loudly in his chest.

It was subtle, especially in the dimmer lighting, but Lazarus did noticed the blush that Xiu had as they look at each other. And Xiu's expression... it... it almost looked like he was hopeful for something. Is this his answer? Or the hint of the answer that Lazarus will be getting? This gave the incubus a boost of confidence.
"Xiu... I..." He repeated. Damn it, even if he felt more confident, why it seemed so difficult to just say those few words? His heart is beating wildly, almost seemed like it was choking him.
The ferris wheel remained stationary for the moment as a difficult customer is refusing to get in the ferris wheel at the bottom, having just argued with their partner. Of course, it was too far away for the Raevans to notice. As they stayed at the peak of the ferris wheel, with the beautiful Barton town night scene and the bright moon shining in the clear sky, the stillness of the night surrounds them, with a gentle night breeze running through their hair. It seems like the perfect moment, so it is now or never.
Inhaling deeply and closing his eyes, he tried to still his beating heart. When he opened them, they were sincere and a bright shade of crimson as he looked into Xiu's sky blue ones. "..I ...I have feelings for you." Lazarus confessed finally. So what is it going to be? His mind raced. Rejection? Acceptance? There really is only two answers isn't it? With bated breath, he watched Xiu carefully for any kind of reaction, his expression hopeful and even a little child-like, feeling extremely anxious at the moment.

"..I ...I have feelings for you."
Xiu stared into Lazarus’ sincere eyes and felt his throat tightening. In the stillness of the night, every word the other had said was crystal clear and the look of Lazarus’ open and hopeful face only served to emphasize the point. The Ferris wheel had stopped and sitting here with Lazarus at its peak gave the situation a surreal feel. It was as though time itself has taken a pause and world was watching the play between the both of them.
Only…
Xiu’s heart raced. If he had been blushing previously, his previous attempt at blushing failed in comparison to the colour his cheeks had taken on now. Rosy pink threatening to go on to red, it was all the white Raevan could do to keep his gaze locked on the other. Despite his masculine features, Lazarus’ face was childlike in his sincerity and the moonlight caught his hopeful red eyes perfectly, compelling Xiu to….
To what?
Gazing into Lazarus’ eyes, the white raevan searched for the answer. He had known Lazarus ever since he was a newborn. Lazarus had been there for him when he had first emerged from the raevan tank and had looked after him when the lab had been quiet with not a soul around. It was Lazarus too who (along with Rivener ) had helped him overcome his first blood lust. The events of the outbreak had been shattering but Lazarus had mustered the courage to own up and apologize to Hazeline. And then there was the incident at Market Street and the nights Lazarus had spent by his side during his recovery period after facing the Trader…always there and always encouraging…
Yes, perhaps…this could work out…
Slowly, gently, Xiu leaned forward until their faces were nearly touching. Then, Xiu smiled and placed a soft kiss onto Lazarus’ cheek.

Seconds feel like minutes as he waited for Xiu's answer, his mind was on alert but somehow he couldn't think clearly. His heart was beating wildly in his chest, waiting extremely anxiously for the answer. When Xiu leaned forward, he felt like his heart could stop at any moment. But when Xiu smiled and kissed his cheek, his heart probably did for like a second. Flabbergasted, the incubus could only stare at Xiu with wide eyes and his mouth slightly agape, his mind was blank, too stunned for the moment for a proper response. D-does this mean...?
No... there is no question about it, this is Xiu's answer! This is probably Xiu's way of expressing his feelings. Having no voice to speak right now, he could only express them through actions.
Lazarus's heart felt like it was soaring high right now, his face took on the same shade as the other's. As Xiu pulled away, the ferris wheel began to move again, as if ending the magical moment. But not wanting it to end, Lazarus bravely cupped Xiu's face with one hand and leans in, closing his eyes and kissing Xiu on the lips. It was a gentle, simple kiss, without fancy movements or techniques. Just a simple, innocent kiss. It probably only lasted for a few seconds, but in that few seconds, Lazarus felt like his life was complete, and there were no more worries in this world.
When he pulled away slowly, his face was a darker shade than before. "I-I'm sorry..." He realized that he was probably taking this a little too fast, but he did not know what overcame him just now.

The Ferris wheel had started moving again and Xiu pulled away shyly from Lazarus, his blush obvious. It was then that Lazarus suddenly pulled a bold act; cupping Xiu’s face and leaning in for another kiss but this time on the lips. The kiss itself was a simple one, no frills and thrills but it was one that Xiu was going to remember; the touch of Lazarus’ warm lips against his and the feel of Lazarus’ hand cupping his face boldly, confidently…
When Lazarus finally pulled away, the fiery Sigel’s face had turned into an even deeper blush as he apologized and Xiu found himself dipping his head shyly as he shook it. It was fine. The kiss was actually…rather nice. Still unable to keep an eye contact (lest he coloured even more), Xiu hesitantly placed his hand over Lazarus’ and patted it reassuringly. There was still some time before the ride ended and the white raevan found himself leaning silently against Lazarus’ strong shoulders, contented to just be with the Fiery Sigel, their hands held shyly between the seat of the Ferris wheel.

Lazarus lets out a sigh of relief when Xiu shook his head, and smiled gently when the PiYao patted his hand gently. A smile that was truly from his heart for the first time that night. No more pretending, forced smile. A giddy grin that he will have plastered on his face for the rest of the night.
As Xiu leaned gently onto his shoulder, their hands laced together in between them, Lazarus felt like it was the happiest moment of his life. There was no unnecessary chaos, no conflicted emotions, no need to pretend to be okay. Because he knew everything would be okay. Quietly they enjoyed the beautiful night scene of Barton together on the ferris wheel, watching the bright lights of the town and the blinking lights of the stars in the sky, treasuring the peacefulness that the night provides. No words were exchanged, because there were no need for them. They understood and echoed each other's feelings, and that is all that mattered.
The ferris wheel operated without anymore interruption throughout the ride after, going two or three rounds before the process of unloading and loading the passengers begin once more. The Raevans' cart probably passed by the ground level a few times, but towards the end, Lazarus noticed that Rivener was not seen anywhere anymore. The incubus had a gut feeling that the scorpion left, having accomplished his mission tonight. He probably should apologize to the scorpion the next time they meet, and thank him.
