"A labor of love?" Kiran repeated as a frown settled onto his face. "There's more to it than just baking pastries?"
"You mean I have already demonstrated all of that?" He believed himself to have skill, wit, and probably intensity. If it was battle on intellect, he might feel a little worried. He worked hard to keep his grades up at the academy, but he was by no means a genius of any sort.
Kiran nodded. Vendors did work very hard. "Beloved pastry vendor?" He released another sigh, hanging his head in what could appear to be disappointment. "I really stand no chance against him." He had to smile at that. "You mean, you don't remember where your house is?" The city was quite large and it could be easy to get lost if in an unfamiliar part of it. But Kiran would never admit to getting lost. He simply wandered around, until he found his way again.

"Sure, there could be passion in just about anything, if you wanted there to be," Yue responded, grinning. Even in pastries, she supposed, though in truth she knew very little about them. She didn't have much of a sweet tooth, and preferred spicy foods over sweet ones. Sugary pastries weren't very filling, either.
"Do I? What do I mean, indeed. I don't think I ever expressed that much faith in you," she answered, winking. "But maybe I should." Yue Lao looked at Kiran for a moment, wondering about his skillset. She wondered if there was some skill he had that would awe her, some talent previously unseen by her eyes. Perhaps one day she would find out.
Yue couldn't help but laugh. With Kiran, she laughed a lot more than she typically did. It was, perhaps, because it was like playing a game which Yue would likely never tire of. He was constantly amusing her in some way, responding to whatever she had to say with equal playfulness. "Of course, beloved! Well, you know, it's probably better you're not one of my Little Lambs," Yue said, winking, her wolfish grin spreading again.
"Of course I remember where it is, it's how to get there that's the problem," Yue retorted, pursing her lips. She closed her eyes, squinted them tight and then opened them again. She followed her invisible red thread back to her home, mentally, and pointed down the road. "Lunch ahoy," Yue said, reaching back to loop her arm through Kiran's and make as though she was about to tug him along on her drunken march. As per usual, her grasp was light with him, almost a question mark. Should he want to walk separately of her, it was merely one more response she could register in his personality information.
