Foam-Dome Sub-Par Man Phoenixious Gods like in the religions? No. An omnipotent being? Maybe. Voted therefor: No.
Found this quote (that I'd like to share with you guys) on one of my Gaian friend's profile few years ago:
God
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able, and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?
- Epicurus. It's not that he's unable. He chooses not to. He chose to give us free will neutral (and by the way, that would be a yes.) There ya go. XD Then he's not willing. I'm not sure what the will of man to change itself has to do with his. If you become an Alcoholic after you're of age, your parents are willing to stop you and definitely could by force, but why don't they?

If you become an Alcoholic after you're of age, your parents are willing to stop you and definitely could by force, but why don't they? ...I'm not even sure right now. I'll let ya know when I get some sleep. But I do know that six billion people are incapable of snuffing out evil when they're the source of it... Limited resources and unlimited desire fuel conflict, and expecting six billion individuals to live their lives in the face of this without sinning, well... That ain't gonna happen. So giving men free will to achieve that end is kinda pointless. ...I don't even know what that has to do with anything that's been said so far. All I know is that I'm very... tired...

Here, maybe you'll understand it this way... Look at your post, now back to mine, now back at your post, now back to mine. Sadly, it isn't mine, but if you stopped posting and started sleeping it could look like mine. Look down, back up, where are you? You're scrolling through posts, reading the post your post could look like. What did you post? Back at mine, it's a reply saying something you want to hear. Look again, the reply is now tipped. Anything is possible when you think before you post. Im on a computer.

Anything is possible when you think before you post. Im on a computer. Reading back, I think I was trying to counter your analogy somehow. Didn't really work out, since I didn't say what I was responding to. Anyway, you've got a point, but I think the word "willing" was used in the quote to say whether or not God would actually take action, rather than if he WANTS to. About the free will spiel, I dunno. It seems pretty contradictory. He gives people the ability to sin, then just hopes that they won't? Shouldn't he know how his own creations work? I have a lot of qualms, but I don't know how to adequately explain them all yet. Hopefully I'll be able to write with more eloquence later. As for that last paragraph, all I have to say is... The hell was that. Either way, I simply can't believe in a deity that hasn't been proven to exist, nor can I follow the principles of a religion that contradicts itself. It goes against my credo. If a heaven exists, then this "all-knowing, all-loving, all-forgiving God" would accept humans into it if they were good people, even if they were Atheists. All things have to have some balance. All good people have some bad in them and vice-versa, and God shouldn't expect people to be perfect nor punish them for not being such. (Yeah yeah, I've probably made a hypocrite of myself somewhere along here, but eh. I'll fix it later.)

Silly RiRi Hidden Arc Honestly, why fight over this stuff? :3 I don't think anyone in here is fighting about it, and this is the discussion forum.
Personally, I'm interested in what exactly it is that causes people to believe (or not); as it can't really be proved either way, I'd like to know what other factors influence people's faith, beyond the obvious factors like the beliefs of people they know, etc. For me, argument is also fighting, although noone really is arguing. It may happen though, and then again, arguments lead to conflicts and wars. Questioning ones belief can get very ugly.
