The large 'Daeva male gave a shot nod to the smaller vixen. "It is. His name is Agni and he lives up to the stereotype of our species. Actually, all of my brothers do really."
Ki twitched his tail idly as he talked with Aruna. "If the 'Phim is in trouble, that is her own fault. What my brother does to 'Phim's in his spare time is none of my concern." He shrugged as if it wasn't a big deal. 'Phim's were their opposites, if they couldn't take care of their selves, that was their own doing. It was not Ki's job to play 'Phim savior, especially not from his own brother. "I was thinking about going back to Kurai," Ki continued, back on track. "But not before I tracked down some unsuspecting fox to mess with first." He couldn't help but give Aruna an evil grin.

Aruna chuckled, seeing that she was right about Ki's indifference. She didn't think about that too much anymore. "Well I suppose I'm lucky to have found the only one of you that isn't a stereotypical 'Daeva," she said.
She spotted the grin he gave her, and returned it with a look of amusement. "Does that make me said unsuspecting fox?" She asked. "Admittedly, I wasn't expecting you. And it certainly did feel like you were messing with my mind earlier on." She smiled and paused for a bit. "Then again, I don't think you expected to find someone like me."

"You are indeed lucky." He nodded seriously for a second as a flash of what could have happened to Aruna had she met Agni flashed through his mind. The 'daeva shook the imagery from his head and grinned again. "But who's to say I'm not still messing with your mind?" His grin widened a little but he knew that Aruna had caught onto his act by now and knew he wasn't.
"You are right about that." Ki said in reply to her last statement. "Finding you was quite a discovery."
Although Ki enjoyed Aruna's presence, he was becoming increasingly bored with just sitting around. Ki rose and stood next to the smaller vixen before turning in the direction of Kurai.
"Your heat source grows tired of this mountain." The flames around his paws jumped in anticipation to get moving again. "Shall we travel?"

Aruna rolled her eyes in fake exasperation, but was smiling regardless. She decidedly ignored the moment of serious thought as Ki seemed to think of his brother again. "Yes, I think we should go elsewhere," she replied, standing to follow Ki down the mountain.
"And I suppose you could still be messing with me," she began. "You could be leading me somewhere dangerous, for all I know. A mountain lion filled canyon, for instance, that you can simply fly away from. Or a cave occupied by an angry bear." She shrugged, before continuing with the joke, "Don't worry about me, though. I'm clearly quite prepared for any scenario."
She laughed, grinning up at the 'Daeva. "Although, I would really prefer if you weren't messing with me in any way," she added.

Ki couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at the smaller vixen. "Prepared for anything? That almost sounds like a challenge. You shouldn't tempt me." He chuckled a little and shook his head. Giving a 'daeva such ideas could be a dangerous thing for a fox. But Ki was glad that Aruna was comfortable enough with him to make jokes. It was odd having a fox that wasn't a 'daeva comfortable with him.
"Ah, but it is in my nature to mess with you. It's great fun." He looked down at her and grinned. "Maybe I should challenge you to mess with me so that you can see what fun it is. Although.." He paused and thought for a moment. "Agni is really the best 'Daeva to mess with. He's absolutely horrible at coming up with comebacks or insults. Sometimes I wonder if the poor boy even has a brain anymore." Ki couldn't resist an exaggerated eye roll.
"Do you have anyone in your family that's fun to mess with?" He wasn't sure if normal foxes messed with each other the way he did with his brothers. Was that only a 'Daeva thing?

"Well it wouldn't be much fun if you already know I'm messing with you," Aruna reasoned, "but to mess with your brother... that could be entertaining for both of us. Until he shows that violent, 'true 'Daeva' self of his." She chuckled before continuing, "But I'm prepared to believe you'll protect me, if that happens."
Aruna shrugged at his next question. "I can't say I really know," she answered. "It's been a while since I've seen my siblings. And cousins, for that matter. I didn't exactly mess with them back when I was a kit, anyways."

The wheels in Ki's head were turning as he thought about his brother, Agni. Agni was much stronger than he was but Ki had alway beaten him in fights because once Agni had been taunted, he could never gain enough control over his anger to fight properly. Ki was almost sure that Agni would get extremely worked up from being taunted by Aruna. Agni's temper would flare and he would quickly lose control of himself, making it easy for Ki to protect Aruna if Agni got too violent. The thought of messing with his brother so much brought a mighty evil grin to Ki's face.
"You have a point. I guess you'll just have to mess with me when I least expect it. Or you could indeed mess with Agni. I believe you would find out very quickly just how much fun it is to get under a 'Daeva's fur." His smile darkened as the thought of the furious rage that the two of them could cause Agni to feel. "I would indeed protect you. Having my brother destroy you is not on my to do list."
It was odd to hear a fox say that they didn't mess with their siblings or extended family. Ki's family was always messing with each other. Some how, that was what worked for his family. He had always been closer to Agni than he had been to his other brothers but he had always messed with Agni more. In return, his brother always messed with him and caused him great misery. How did families like Aruna's get by without such affectionate gestures? Ki thought about asking Aruna why she had never messed with her family but thought better of it.

Aruna laughed as she saw the look that flashed across Ki's features. The thought of annoying Agni clearly brought much pleasure. She wondered if all siblings were like that, or just 'Daeva's. As far as she knew, her cousins weren't really like that. She was sure they played around with each other, but she doubted the extent was anywhere near that of Ki and his brothers. As for her own siblings, they just didn't seem the type to play around in that way. She couldn't say much for Caelan and Lela, but she knew that the two haven't seen each other in a long time, so the situation didn't really apply to them.
"I'm glad to hear you are worried for my safety... In regards to your brother, that is," she added the afterthought with a smirk. "Flattered, really. I suppose, though, that I don't exactly know how to go about this 'messing with others' concept of yours. How do you typically mess with your brother? You must be great at it by now. And I'm presuming that it would be helpful to know a little about the fox, before you attempt taunting them. I know nothing about this brother of yours."

Ki hopped on top of another boulder as they made their way down the mountain. His flames licked at the rock as he looked down at Aruna.
"I am not worried for your safety." He said raising his head sort of proud like. "I do not worry. That is a 'Phim and fox emotion, not one that I concern myself with." Ki leaded off the boulder and landed next to Aruna, crouching down so that he was eye level with her. "I don't need to worry about your safety with Agni because I know how to lure him away from you."
Due to his nature to be overly dramatic, Ki flexed out his wings and wrapped Aruna in one of them, using it to pull her close. He looked around sneakily to see if anyone else was around. Of course no one was but he felt it was necessary for his dramatics. Ki bent his head as if to whisper a deep secret to Aruna.
"You see..." He started, giving Aruna a sly smile. "As I stated earlier, Agni doesn't have much of a brain in that head of his. It takes him far to long to think up anything and he's horrible at conversation most of the time. To mess with him, you just start with one tiiiiny little insult to get under his skin." Ki's smile grew as he continued talking and he pulled Aruna closer to him, figuring she wouldn't mind the fire jumping towards her paws. "Once you give that first insult, the rest comes naturally. He makes it way to easy to get inside his head. If you know the right words, you can practically make him do or say anything."

Aruna watched Ki from the actual path, confined there by her normal size and lack of wings. She was about to respond to his 'lack of worries' comment, when he continued by pulling her closer. Aruna was a little startled at first, but was quickly comforted by the heat. After a while, she began to feel much safer than before.
Aruna smiled and nodded as she listened to Ki continue on. She enjoyed the fact that he enjoyed talking about this so much. She hardly noticed the decrease in distance between them.
"Interesting," she began, stepping comfortably into the dancing flames. "And I suppose almost any sort of tiny insult would work? A crack at his stupidity, a go at his masculinity? A 'Yo Momma' joke?" She stood for a moment, considering any possible insults. She was capable of thinking on her feet, but not necessarily aimed at hurting the feelings of others.
[Feel free to ignore that... XP]

Ki looked to Aruna, waiting for her reaction. He nodded at each of her ideas for an insult until she got to the 'Yo Momma' part.
"Keep in mind that the mother of Agni is also the mother of myself." Ki said as he stood up and gave Aruna a look of interest. "Though Agni doesn't much care of our mother. He is classified as more of a 'Daddies Boy'." Unwillingly, Ki's mind thought back to his younger days when his father praised his other brothers for picking on normal foxes while Ki sat on the sidelines. Snapping back to reality, Ki shook the thoughts from his head and used his wing to pull Aruna on and walk beside him as he started again.
"I like to comment on his stupidity mostly. But taking a hit from you on his masculinity is sure to get him riled up." He couldn't help but chuckle as he continued trotting down the path with Aruna by his side.

"I'll just rule those out then." Aruna said with a laugh. She had only been joking, anyways. "Although I could always use them on Caelan. He has two mothers." She shrugged, well aware that she would never really insult Caelan's other parent. She continued, "I wouldn't do that, either way. it a sign of a weak argument when one has to target family members, as opposed to attacking the person's own characteristics."
With Ki's prompting, and still under his wing, Aruna began walking down the mountain again. "I see, I'll be sure to keep that in mind," she replied.

Ki felt a smile appear on his face as Aruna talked about the signs of a weak argument. It was obvious that the vixen had a good head on her shoulders, which was one of the many things Ki liked about her. Aruna wasn't like the rest of the vixen's Ki had met who would have nagged him for being mean to his brother. She seemed to be able to understand that he wasn't a normal fox and didn't live as such and be okay with that. Ki was glad to have finally found a friend in the fox community. Although he had to admit his feelings for Aruna were strange and although he had only just met her, he could feel a sort of connection to her.
"So you said you've been to Kurai before, yes?" Ki asked, having run out of things to say about his brother but not wanting to end conversation with Aruna.

Aruna glanced up at Ki as they walked, curious as to what he was thinking. He was a little difficult to read, but that didn't bother Aruna too much. It just presented more of a challenge, which she typically enjoyed. She was very much like her mother in that respect.
Ki's question brought Aruna out of her thoughts. "Yes, once when I was a kit," she replid. "I didn't find anyone, though, so I just left." She continued after a pause, "It's a little strange that I didn't see anyone. Especially since you and your family were living there at the time. I don't know how I missed you." She laughed, wondering where they had been at the time. Probably just on the other side of the tribe or something. It wasn't really important, so she didn't bother to ask.
"Have you actually met my brother, or have you just seen him around?" Aruna asked out of curiosity. She didn't know much about her brother, and it felt a little strange to think that Ki had seen him more than she had.

The large 'Daeva felt a look of confusion cross his face as he listened to the smaller vixen talk. She had been on Kurai lands and hadn't seen anyone? That was strange. Most of the time, the guardian or someone went to inform others that they had stepped onto Kurai land. He wanted to ask what part of the land she had explored but as she kept talking, he decided not to. It's not like he couldn't ask her once they got there.
"I've just seen him around." Ki replied as he tried to remember the older fox. "He was good friends with our tribes Elder, but I never talked to either much. I was much to busy with my brothers and fulfilling my tribe duties to have friends." He shrugged as they walked, almost sorry he didn't have more information for her.
