There's a difference between soreness and pain. If you're sore, it's perfectly fine to push through it and sometimes being active will even help the soreness go away. If you're experiencing actual pain though, that's a sign that you need to take it easy and try to figure out what's going on in your body.
Since your main exercise is walking, you should be fine doing that every day if that's what you feel like doing. If you get into more strenuous stuff like running for distance and things like that though, it's best to always have at least one full day off each week.

As a general rule, don't work the same muscle groups twice in a row. So if your legs are sore, do pushups, presses, curls, something arms/chest/back/abs.
You have lots of muscle groups, don't just walk or do pushups. Have an abs day, legs day, arms day, chest day, back day. Or combine and do 2 groups and switch those out. I did legs & back today. Yesterday I did shoulders & arms. <3

It would be silly to never go to another party again, just don't get drunk. (That's the hard part, one I periodically miss...) What I usually do is wear two or three rings or bracelets on one hand and move one onto the other hand each time I finish a drink.
It doesn't always work but it's the best method I've found so far.

Don't go by your doctor's scale unless you're in there consistently getting weighed. Go by the scale you weigh yourself with usually. The number isn't what matters its the change in number.
You gain weight as the day moves on, so your doctor's scale telling you that you're heavier is normal unless you wake up, roll out of bed and into your doctor's office with just your underwear on. (Which is decidedly not normal I think).
