Mau's smile was gone as he looked up at the flailing balloon. She didn't care as she watched her treasure get taken by that absol. In displeasure, she made a strange kissy face, almost as if she were mocking the absol. It was a face some might have found disturbingly familiar.
"I'm fine." Mau said, bringing out a pokeball and calling Nuu back. "I'm sorry she caused you any problems. She didn't damage it, did she?"

Looking down at the tool kit, tilting her head as she ran her finger over a couple of new dents made in the case, she just shook her head. "No its fine." she answered, moving it back over put it to her belt. "Its why I buy heavy duty stuff, stands up to more" she pointed out, crossing her arms and looking up at the Drifloon. "Thats a bad habit she's got. I would hate to think if she does that to the wrong person." she said, looking over to Mau.

"Aye." He sighed. "Didn't know she was so sticky fingered. Well, that was exciting though. I'm surprised she stayed so close to the gym. I guess she really wanted to know what was in that box." He spun the pokeball on his finger like a basketball player would spin a ball. "I suppose though, our match is called off do to unforeseen circumstances."

Eying the pokeball as he spun it, she nodded her head gently "I suppose so" she moved over to the couch instead, sitting down as she pulled Umbreon's pokeball from her thigh. Taking a moment to let the still very ill looking pokemon, holding the vile he had given her. "I think Umbreon's just about done anyway." can tell at this point he;s borderline passed out now.

Mau nodded. "We'll have a rematch sometime." He held up Nuu's pokeball. "And this one won't get in the way." The characteristic fond smile of his returned as he pocketed the pokeball. Mau took a seat beside Faleen before pulling out Ire's pokeball. He inspected it. She survived the poisoning, but with only a single hitpoint. Well, he had potions for that back in his room.
"Been a rocket long?" He had to ask. She took being a part of Team Rocket seriously. Not like most of the others he had met. So he just had to know.

One hand sliding under Umbreon’s Chin to tilt his head up, while the over one gently worked into his mouth and pored the liquid down his throat. she hummed thoughtfully as his question, not looking away from what she was doing until the vile was drained, letting her Umbreon lie down while it too affect in eliminating the poison, gently rubbing both his sides. “It’s been close to seven months now since I joined” she answered, glancing over her shoulder to look back at him. “Not a very long time at all, and you?” she asked “you work as a scientist, so we wouldn’t normally see one another much”

Mau chuckled softly. "I transferred here about 6 months ago. Though I've been a rocket for years." He leaned back, letting his arms drape over the back of the couch as he stared at the ceiling. "I'm impressed. You're a lot more dedicated and focused then many of the other grunts I've seen around here. It was a little disheartening."

Hazel eyes growing a little wider when he said that, honestly, not expecting to hear something like that. Not that i was unwelcome, it kinda... made her feel a little nice, and a little embarrassed, color was starting to form on her cheeks, even though she composed her expression again. "Thank you" She said quietly, before looking back over to him "you said you were transferred? where were you originally assigned at?"

Mau's head lulled to the side and he looked at her. "Well... team rocket had gotten me out of prison and brought me to the Kodachi* island region. We were kind of isolated from the rest of team rocket." He shrugged before moving his hands over his head and sitting up again. "Then of course this and that happened, a few exploding fish later and I'm here." He started toying with the brace on his arm a little. "So what made you join?"

... Did he just say exploding fish? yeah he did. She almost wondered what the heck that could mean, until she remembered that he was scientist. She couldn't blame him now, how many mechanical servo had she fried with cross wiring? it just came with the territory.
She thought about his question for a moment, tilting her head before she leaned back against the couch seat she was in. folding her hands across her chest. "I can be honest here. about who I am" she answered, almost carefully. "I agree with the mentality here, it was a good enough reason to be a part of it"

"Everything is for profit. Steal Pokémon for profit. Exploit Pokémon for profit. All Pokémon exist for the glory of Team Rocket." He said softly. "I hope that's not what you mean. But rather, every person, no matter how inept, is still important in the grand scheme of things." He blinked. "That was kind of a tactless way for me to put it. But you know what I mean, right?"

"Well, being a part of the team, of course that is a big part of why I do the things I do now. but what I mean is a little... more personal then that... if I could be so bold as to state this. I could care less about profit anymore, my life's never been remotely involved with pokemon either. Glory of Team Rocket has become important to me, but what I'm really talking about, what I see every day in what Rocket stands for, its not about the pokemon, it's about the humans. we're true to human nature, we're true to what we want, what we seek, and we do everything in our power to make sure we get it. and in my own personal drive, so long as I can grow, and improve, work to become a better Rocket for the organization, I'm happy. So yes, I do know exactly what you mean... unless I'm completely misunderstanding you" She looked over at him with a polite, amused smile raising her eyebrows a little higher over her brow.

He smiled at her. "So you see being a rocket as a way to better yourself. And since you had no previous skill with pokemon, you've also expanded your horizons." He thought about her words. "Human nature, huh?" It was true. Humans were greedy, self satisfying things. That may not be what she intended, but it was how Mau interpreted it.

"In a way yes. Though I must admit, Pokemon is not where my interest lie, I've established what I'm good at, maybe someday I'll earn a place there in this team." She missed working to robots the most. She felt comfortable training dark types, but it wasn't the same. sitting up again to check on her Umbreon, who was already look much much better, much more relaxed. "Human nature. being around people long enough, you get lied to, things can be taken from you, you can be betrayed." she shrugged softly, sitting streghter again, she's seen it a lot, especially in a business environment. "At least here, you know to expect it,"

Truths. It was all truths. Around here, you had to be guarded, and you knew it. To be otherwise was folly, and you could only blame yourself. "Wnat is it you're good at then?" He asked softly. Since he didn't know her, he found he was curious. A lot of the rockets seemed to have strange hidden talents.
