Thayne lifted his nose to the sky, sniffing the atmosphere. It smelled heavy and wet -- like rain or snow or ice. Coming close and fast.

He turned his attention to Loki. "Loki, I think we ought t' get inside. Shelter'd be nice 'bout now, 'specially wi' th' storm comin'. We can eat in there, aye?" With no further comment, he gently picked up Winter by the scruff of the neck and carried her to the den entrance. He was fully expecting the rest of them to come along. The storm would probably hit soon enough. Might as well get the pups inside and some extra meat saved up. Maybe they could find a deer to keep for a while...

((Hai! No dying! *kicks thread* >3 PARADISO AWAITS!!))

((Sorry guys, my laptop ate my last post before I could send it, and after the week I've had I was too frustrated to retype it. Sorry for holding us up, sweatdrop ))

Hige too looked up, leaving his kill on the floor of the cave in favor of licking his chops.

Pressing forward, he emerged from the little "cave" of sorts and gave an acknowledging look to Tsume, as thanks, followed by a small grin. He did continue on, sauntering over to Thayne, his mate, and the pups, however.

"Thayne is right. I'm going to get Balan... Let's get them inside where it's a bit more warm."

With that he took Shilah by the scruff, carrying the pup into the cave and setting him down with a nudge. He looked back at Kaya, then wuffed softly at her, and looked to Loki and Tsume. "Make sure she gets inside, I'll be right back."

He snuffed softly, then headed off after Balan, following the teen's scent.

RP.with.Tatiana.

Finally. There he was...

Coming over the small makeshift horizon, Hige paused as he caught a second wolf's scent with Balan. Young, and female. Another pup...?

He gave a soft wuff to let them know he was approaching, and did so slowly, eyeing the leopard spotted pup with curious, warm eyes. (Hige has a thing for strange markings. XD *lol*) "And you might be?" He quipped, slowling to a stop next to the sand and earth colored wolf. He held his head a bit high, but let his tail sway to and fro a bit so as not to alarm the 'kid'.

Tat was enjoying her rabbit happily and barely registered the sound of another wolf approaching but once her eyes fell upon the warm toned wolf she slowly backed away from her rabbit unsure of what he wanted. Barely glancing at Balan, Tat lowered herself into the snowy ground once more, her body making an imprint in the cold whiteness. As he spoke she didn't raise her eyes, afraid this wolf would act like many of the others she had run across in her past should she stray from her show of subbordinance. "I am Tatiana." Her voice was soft and gentle yet held a small quiver that caused her to wince internally.

His ears twitched, picking up on the fear in her voice and somehow feeling responsible and guilty for it. He wasn't one that liked to see pups in discomfort, physical or emotional. For a minute Hige felt humbled. He had only had to observe Devvyl and Selia taking in uncertain pups before, including himself... He had yet to be on the other end of the stick before...

He almost shot a look to Balan, but refrained, instead lowering his head to get a better look at her, as if he couldn't see her from where he stood.

"You'll get cold lying like that. You're a friend of Balan's...?"

~It doesn't seem like she has a pack,~ Hige thought, noting the lack of any stronger scents on the young one. He went on in an easy tone, trying to soothe the distress she felt with a more friendly voice.

"My name's Hige, are you out here alone?"

Ears that had been laced upon her head perked up slightly as the voice drifted in the air around her. Carefully and slowly she rose from her crouched position in the snow, tail still firmly tucked between her hind legs. A friend... was she a friend of Balan's? She had only just met him. "Um, I am not sure. We just met." As the words left her she turned her head to look at Balan. She hoped they were friends. He was very nice, he was the one who had given her the hare after all.

As the voice of the stranger wolf broke through her thoughts she turned her attention back to him. His voice seemed warmer and more inviting... or was it only her imagination? Oh well, did it truly matter? Hige... Tat liked that name she decided.

Alone? "Yes." She's been alone for such a long time and her emaciated body proved it, but that hare had done wonders to lift her spirit. If only mother was around to help her.

Hige had finally taken that moment, as well, to look at Balan, meeting the other wolf's eye. He could tell just by that expression that Balan had already taken to Tatiana. Hige trusted Balan's judgement, and Tat was left in a tough spot. He wondered briefly... why was it that so many abandoned pups wandered into these woods?

((he doesn't know about the hunters,))

"Well then, if he hasn't already asked: Would you like to stay with us? There's a storm that'll be upon us soon, we have shelter just over the ridge." He looked that way, then back to Tatiana.

She looked hopeful. "Balan asked me as well. I didn't realize you were of the same pack." She moved a bit closer the Hige and took in his scent and could easily smell Balan among many others around the Alpha. Her tiny tail lifted from it's wedged position to begin a small motion behind her. "Are there others my age in your pack?" She was hopeful. Maybe she ould have a playmate. After loosing her mother then being seperated from her two remaining sisters she had not seen another friendly wolf since Balan and Hige. To have someone with her that she could trust would fill the empty void in her. The life of a loner certainly didn't suit her. She had decided this quite a long time ago.

"Yeah, my mate and I are leading this pack further South to the warmer lands." Hige's muzzle formed a bit of a grin, relaxing. That was much better, seeing her tail showing signs of life instead of staying hidden beneath her. He never wanted any young ones to have to be afraid like he and so many others he had come to know did. He found that priority added to the growing list. A place where Shilah, Kaya, Winter, and Tatiana could all have normal puphoods.

He lowered his head a bit to familiarize himself with her as well, sniffing at the top of her head quietly.

"Three, though one walks on two legs. They're all pups about your age."

Tatiana didn't shy away as Hige moved his head closer to her, in fact it only managed to increase the constant back and forth motion of her rear appendage. As the other pups were brought up the movement grew stronger if it was at all possible. "Yea! Playmate!" She said happily but stopped her joyous words at the mention of one on two legs. "Two?? How does he walk on two?" Her head cocked to the side slightlyquite curious about this new discovery.

Hige chuckled a bit, then gave Balan a secret grin, managing a wink. "You'll see. It's pretty cool, actually. She only has fur on the top of her head, sounds weird, right?"

This made four pups to provide for. They had wanted to start the pack small, Hige had thought seven members was big enough to start, then to gain three more before they even got on the actual journey?

"Finish eating, there's more food back with the others."

Fur only on her head? How strange. Was this pup subjected to some horrible torture? Probably those horrible creatures mother called humans. She'd never forget what they looked like with their hairless bodies that were covered in the furs of other cratures and loud booming sticks that had caused her mothers death. The memory caused her to shudder but she did as Hige suggested and turned back to the hare which was just about devoured.

Resuming her original spot in the snow she continued to pick her way through the carcass, her tummy happily accepting the red meat that was being sent its way. Tearing apart the light hued fur of the creature she reached the last bit of flesh that still clung to the bones and uncerimoniously tore it off, eagerly munching on it till there was nothing left.

With a maw marred crimson she looked up at Hige and Balan ready to go join her new pack, and new life that awaited her.

He didn't want to alarm her, but he did take the liberty of licking her muzzle clean after a moment before straightening and placing a lick to her forehead. "Well, come on Tatti, the pack is waiting." He grinned, turning and waiting to lead both back.

Loki nodded to Thayne and grabbed the rabbit from the snowey ground. She waited for him to take Winter, and watched over Shilah until Hige came to pick him up too. She slowely approached the two legged, hoping not to scare her, and nudged her a bit in the direction on the cave. She ran out in front of the girl a ways, looking back over her shoulder to make sure the little one would follow to shelter.

As she was taking her time to get into the cave, she sensed the wind getting colder, the sky was darkening too, and she could feel faint prickles of ice crystals settling through her thick coat. She looked back once more, urging the two legger to hurry with a yip. She wondered where Hige was, buy didn't worry much. He would find Balan and they would return soon enough to evade the worse of the storm, she thought.

She made her way past the others, to shake off and rest at the back of the cave. She was tired from all the running about, and hungry. She laid down, her paws folded under her, and her tail flopped lazily over her nose, hoping for a speedy return for Hige and Balan.

Winter quietly sat at the edge of the cave where Thayne had set her, close to Shilah, though she said nothing to the cub. Instead, she gazed out at the terrain from the small entrance, leathery nose twitching lightly in responce to the wind. She'd heard talk about a storm.. apparently a large one. Ugh.. how she hated snow. Far to easy to get lost in..

With an inward side, the female hoisted herself to all fours, immediatly giving a brief shake to her wintery white coat before turning, tail swaying with amusement to and fro. A loose grin hung across her maw while she began padding back towards Loki, who had walked into the small area of shelter not to long ago herself. Silently she tred towards the adult, pace slowing as she neared. "Uhm.. hi..?" she spoke, a brow arching as her head tilted. However before any responce, she'd moved beside Loki, curling up into a small ball next to her, hoping she didn't mind.

RP.With.Thayne.

After a few moments of absence Hige was seen coming over the ridge again, leading back the two stray members of the pack, one newly aquired... Tatiana, a spotted pup, would be accompanying the pack now. Balan had befriended her and Hige had accepted her, now they only needed Loki's approval.

After getting the other two settled into their shelter, Hige looked at Thayne hoping to catch his eye.

==========

Thayne finally looked up from darkness at the back of the cave, where he blended in quite well but for his eyes, unlike the white pup nearby still gnawing on rabbit bones. Slowly, he rose and shook himself, then trotted out to meet his brother with a nuzzle. Strange, but Hige didn't look quite as big as Thayne remembered...

==========

Hige returned the token of affection and nudged at his younger brother's ear while he was at it. It was a habit of his, what else could be said?

"I need to introduce Loki and the pup, she'll be coming with us if Loki agrees." Which he saw no reason why she wouldn't... Now, he met Thayne's eye, blinking when he realized that Thayne had been growing in the last moons. He had been rather distracted, being here, there, and everywhere else. He was about his size now... Not surprising, Thayne had thick fur as a young wolf like Hige had when he was younger.

He grinned.

"When I get back, we should go track down some food for the others and I wanna ask you something."

==========

Thayne dipped his head in agreement. "G' work tha' out 'bout th' pup, an' we'll hunt," he replied. He didn't notice, either, that his voice had gotten deeper to compliment his grown body. "I'll be right 'ere."

==========

Hige flicked his tongue over his muzzle in reply as well as he looked in Loki's direction. "Be back in a bit then,"

He looked back to the young female, calling to her. "Tatiana, come on, this way."

With that he ducked into the cave to follow Loki.

The short walk to the cave was the most joyous trip Tatti had ever remember having in quite a long time. She pranced through the snow, trying to land in Hige's paw prints as she followed closely behind him. On several account she almost ran into the older wolf's hind leg but managed to skid to a stop to avoid the impact. She wasn't to sure how much the Alpha would enjoy a head but from her.

Upon reaching the cave the many scents of other wolves filled Tatti's senses but there was one that was ost disturbing. It didn't smell like any wolf she had ever come into contact with, but it did register in her mind as a scent she had come across before...but where? She turned to ask Hige but found him speaking to another wolf of the pack. Turning her head to the side slightly she moved beside Hige and eventually under him to peek out from behind his right front leg to watch the new wolf as they exchanged words. Eventually she grew tired of watching the two and turned her gaze to the other members of the pack that were sheltered within the rocky crevice, but had little time to dwell on them as Hige turned and spoke to her.

Following the Alpha into the cave she looked around, now able to seach wolf better. These were going to be her pack members. That thought alone filed her tiny, emaciated body with warmth and a thrill for a wonderful future to come.

Hige was half aware of Tatti's proximity, quite taken by her already. He imagined when and if he and Loki ever had pups, he'd hope their offspring were as kindhearted and playful as Tatiana, Winter, and the others.

He slowed to a stop by Winter and Loki, looking over to little Tatiana again with a slight wag of his tail. "Tatiana, this is my mate, Loki. She leads this pack with me." ~At least, so far.~

Hige didn't doubt their abilities to lead, but somehow didn't want to just assume either. So far everyone was looking to them as the alphas, however. Something that he was slowly getting used to, as he was sure Loki was as well.

"The squirt with her is Winter... Loki, this is Tatiana. I invited her to join us, and apparently Balan has as well."

He looked to his mate, confident that she would accept, but wanting to make sure that the others saw that they still would share in all the decision making. If for any reason Loki would say no then Tatiana would at least have a place with them until the storm went over... but he didn't worry about that. Loki had a kind heart and an extreme soft spot for pups.

Tatti followed Hige closely, feeling quite safe with him so near just like she was after getting to know Balan. It was a wonderful feeling, safety, something she hadn't felt for quite awhile.

Upon reaching the back of the cavern Tatti's eyes fell upon the white pup and her rear appendage quickly went into action as she yipped playfully to the white pup but stopped as Hige pointed out Loki. Her tail lessened it's activity but didn't stop, instead it moved side to side gently in a curious manner as Tatti looked up at Loki as if examining her, but let little time pass before she leapt out form under Hige to stand in front of the Alpha to look up at Loki more properly.

"Hello!" She spoke jovially. "It's nice to meet you, Hige and Balan are very nice. You're lucky to have Hige as your mate." She spoke as any child would, not really taking heed in her own words nor bothering to contemplate what was spilling forth.

Loki was deep in thought, but snapped out of it when the smallish white pup approached. She was cute, so incredibly cute. Loki's ears swivvled atop her head. "Hello little one." her face bore a look of surprise as the pup snuggled beside her suddenly, and waves of emotion and memories came flooding back to the night in Faenaro's cave, snuggled up with her Gaara. If wolves could cry real tears, she probably would have, it had only been one moon, but she missed him again already. She licked the top of the pups head in acceptance.

She travelled back into her mind, thinking about past events and mulling over them, when she smelled Hige at the entrance. She looked up as he came near, noting he had another pup with him. Wow, they were coming out of nowhere. "Hello Tatiana, what a pretty name." She smiled warmly at the new strangely colored pup as Hige introduced them, grinning wider as the pup spoke to her.

Hige felt a smile come to his maw, trying not to laugh as he felt a bit silly... maybe flattered at Tatiana's blunt opinion.

He hated to cut this moment short, but they needed to find food yet.

"We still need to hunt before the storm hits. Tatti, stay here and get to know the others..." He looked towards Shilah, Kaya, Tsume, and Thayne, then back. "You can trust them, and Balan will stay here with you too."

He placed a reassuring nuzzle to the top of Tatiana's head, then a few affectionate washes to Loki's muzzle.

"I'm going to take Thayne," He locked eyes with Loki knowing she'd know why Thayne was coming along. "and Tsume. We'll be back with food soon. You all just sit tight." He gave a small smile, then turned and headed back for Thayne, who was waiting just outside the cave now.

========== RP.With.Thayne.PT2.

Thayne raised his head from his paws, watching Hige trot toward him. He looked past the "collared" wolf to the view outside. It didn't look promising outside; the dying light was a sickly yellow, which almost guaranteed bad weather. He stood and stretched, waiting for his brother.

==========

Hige wuffed a low greeting, staying at the entrance to make sure everyone else got inside. Only once everyone was settled in (since not everyone is on to RP, moving you guys with the group. Everyone is inside the cave now! @.@) he peered over with amber eyes, calling to Thayne and Tsume. "Thayne, Tsume... you two come with me, Balan, Loki, stay here with the pups. We'll be back with food."

He glanced up to the skies, the clouds already beginning to thicken with a dark, ominous gray. They should definitely hurry.

==========

Thayne trotted outside, raising his nose and sniffing the air. It was still heavy, but drier. He looked up at the clouds and watched them moving swiftly. "Wonder what we can poss'bly fin' wi' this comin'?" he muttered aloud. "Ever'thin' ought t' be holed up..."

==========

"Might find some more rabbits, maybe we'll get lucky and find an injured elk or something..." Hige twitched his ears, satisfied, and turned, leading the two into the wilderness to begin the hunt, nose open for the scent of any prey.

Noticeably, Tsume hung back a bit from the two, instinctively it did put Hige a bit on edge but he was sure that Tsume was smarter than to attack two full grown wolves while he himself (Tsume) was on a half full stomach.

He waited until they were a bit away from the rest of the pack, ears twitching once in a while as he peered about their surroundings.... He decided that this time he was going to be direct about it, instead of dancing around the issue. "Loki and I talked about it, and if we're going to lead this pack then we- well, I'd like for you to consider being our beta..."

He paused for a moment to look Thayne in the eye, turning his eyes ahead, and his ears forward.

"I didn't want to spring this on you when we got there, and I know you don't have a mate, yet, but Elphaba was able to do it, so we'd be honored if you'd take the position."

Somehow that didn't come as akwardly as the invitations had before, maybe Hige was getting better at this after all... O_o

==========

Beta? Holy Mother, that was out of the blue! So much that Thayne had to lock his knees to keep from swaying. Beta... did Hige and Loki really think that highly of him? He'd never expected to be more than a gamma in his life.

And yet... the idea of being beta to Hige and Loki felt right. Absolutely, completely right and natural.

"Aye, brother," he said in a distant but no less pleased voice, "I'd be honored t' be yer beta."

==========

Hige nodded, a smaller smile on his maw, but pleased all the same. He trusted Thayne with his life, it was only right that they find a way to show such trust... In turn he would always do his best to protect his little brother, just as he had already vowed to himself to do. He himself had never imagined that he'd become alpha of a pack of his own, that he and Loki would have their own pack of wolves to call family...

Things were coming together in ways that neither one of them thought possible. Was that fate? Their meetings had all been so sudden, first meeting Selia and being taken in, then running into Thayne in the woods, then coming by Loki under the stars... The closest people in his life were all happenstance meetings, was that why all of this felt so right now?

Tsume hung back, giving the two their privacy. He seemed like a wolf easy enough to get along with, Hige hoped he'd find a comfortable place with the pack.

"Alright then, let's get some food and get back before this storm hits. I don't know about you guys but I'm not all that fond of snow." Hige laughed a bit, recalling his embarassing memories of their first pack's journey south.

==========

Thayne chuckled and wuffed softly. "Hopefully it won' be t' far 'way. Hate t' 'ave t' drag somethin' big back t' th' cave," he quipped before putting his nose to the ground and heading off, covering ground swiftly in search of prey.

==========

Hige wuffed his agreement to that, moving the other direction to help cover more ground.

He wandered maybe... six yards before he detected a faint scent, lifting his head, flaring his nose, and parting his maw for a better judge. Something was nearbye, a familiar scent, but different. Deer, Hige recalled, from his hunting trip with Yero before. "This way," He called back, heading towards the source of the scent.

==========

Thayne raised his head and trotted over in Hige's direction, following the older male. He let Tsume fall in between the two of them. He smelled it now, too.

==========

They walked for a bit, not very far, the scent growing stronger with a shift in the wind. The deer, female from the smell of it, wasn't moving about, possibly they WERE so fortunate as to come across an injured prey. They would see in just a few moments...

"Looks like we're lucky after all." Hige smirked, keeping his voice low as he came closer to the ground, crouching out of sight. Tsume settled quietly as well as they assesed the situation quickly.

==========

Thayne nodded, circling around to the doe's rear, crouching behind a meager cover of low bushes. If he could time it right, he could chase her into Hige and Tsume. He studied her, having never hunted large prey, and figured that she was lame in a front leg. If something could be done about a hind, she was dinner.

==========

He watched Thayne move round back, then rumbled softly at Tsume, sending the grayed wolf more over behind some cover of his own. If Thayne managed to flush her out in their direction then having one on each of her sides and more to the front would do better good than two attacking from one direction.

They did have to be careful though, cornered deer became aggressive, they had sharp hooves, Hige didn't want to see either of them getting hurt if it was avoidable.

The doe twitched, her breathing was heavy as she had just been struggling to stand. She was unaware of the wolves presence though something had her spooked. Perhaps she felt their hungry eyes staring her down.

Sadly for her, the rest of her herd had already gone on, leaving her to fend for herself.

She tried again to stand. Thayne was correct, her front right leg was injured, having caught in a snakes burrow covered over with snow.

==========

He looked over for just a second, meeting Hige's and Tsume's eyes to let them know to prepare. Then he burst from cover toward the doe, keeping low to the ground with his ears pinned flat to his head. His sudden appearance startled her and she leaped, but landed wrong on that bad leg. The few extra seconds gave Thayne enough time to reach her hindlegs. He latched on with sharp fangs, then felt muscle and sinew tear as she tried to escape him with a pathetic bleat. She scrambled away, oblivious with pain to the new injury, directly into the paths of the two waiting wolves. Thayne followed her, growling.

==========

Hige's lips peeled back menacingly, revealing sharp incisors and canines ready for the attack. The moment that she was within reach taunt muscles sprang, launching the two waiting wolves at her. Hige, being on her right, went directly for her throat. Her injured foreleg useless against the force that came so sudden and sure.

He threw his full weight into the attack, latching onto her neck and bringing her down hard. Tsume clamped his jaws down over her snout, blocking off her air passage and keeping her from lashing more. Neither of the two let go of their prey, jaws clamped like bear traps... They wouldn't let go until the doe stopped struggling, not chancing an encounter with her hooves. It seemed like an hour went by before she finally began to fall still, blood saturating the snow like wine seeping into carpet.

==========

Thayne, meanwhile, had leaped onto her flailing hindquarters to still them. While he was by no means as heavy as he could have been, the weight was quite enough to keep her from moving too much.

==========

With the kill finally acomplished, Hige felt a rush seeping through his system. It was their first actual hunt as a pack, or at least their second. After a few moments of safeguard he let her neck fall limp from his jaws, licking his chops clean and lifting his own head. He met Thayne's eye, then Tsume's, an unmaskable feeling swelling up in his throat. His ears went back on his head again, flattening... Rearing his head back he let loose a triumphant howl.

==========

Thayne joined him shortly after, a last short burst of adrenaline flooding his system and making him giddy. His first large prey taken down -- with his packbrothers! Nothing could have been better at that moment.

They could worry about dragging the carcass back in a moment.

==========

Hige howled until his lungs finally began to protest, the last of the rush beginning to wear thin. Panting softly he lowered his head again, eyes still a bit wild with excitement.

==========

Thayne stopped a few seconds later and breathed in deeply of air that was rapidly dropping in temperature. He studied the carcass with his head cocked, then looked up at Hige and Tsume. "Well... think we can drag't t' th' cave 'tween th' three o' us?"

==========

"I think we'll be able to manage," Hige replied, looking up from sizing up their kill as well. "..." He paused momentarily, then stepped over the body and took hold of the neck again, beginning to heave the carcass back the way they had come.

Tsume eventually followed suit, taking up a hind leg and helping pull from the other side, leaving Thayne to take a side or to help navigate.

==========

Thayne trotted up and took the foreleg on the bottom, lifting it up and pulling with his packmates toward the cave. Keeping it from dragging would make it slightly easier to pull, if straining on the neck of the dragger... But at least they'd make it to the cave before the storm hit. Probably by a good while, too.

==========

This was Hige's first hunt in a group of more than two. He noted that it was considerably easier to carry kill between three wolves, rather than two. If his mouth hadn't been full he would have commented... but it was, so he couldn't.

The wind was picking up by the time they made it back, Hige dropping his half in front of the cave and licking his chops again, flexing his jaw. He looked to Tsume as he did the same, and Thayne last, they'd bring the carcass into the cave with them and rid the remains once the pack had eaten, if the storm didn't pass before then.

==========

With an effort, Thayne helped Tsume drag the carcass far enough into the cave to be sheltered from the storm, but not so far as to keep from being frozen in the cold. Couldn't have their only meal spoil, could they? He dropped his leg and looked back at Hige with a grin. "I thought that went rather well, didn' ya?"

==========

"I'd dare say so," Hige smirked back good naturedly, butting Thayne's shoulder and entering the cave with the others. Once inside he gave his body a shake, loosing the dusting of snow that had gotten into his pelt on the trek back. "Food's on!" He called to the others.

For now it was important to let the pups eat first, and Loki, being as they all needed the strength. Hige would wait this time around, making room for the others.

((XD you people and your AIM RP'ing, causing timewarps in the main pack thread razz ))

Loki took the time the males were out hunting to catch a quick nap. She wanted to be awake during the storm, just in case. She saw great things as she slept, running along the edge of the big water with Hige and their own pups, hunting with Thayne and the others by moonlight, finally meeting Tai.. Hige's two legger.

The sound of Hige and the others returning caused Loki to awake quite suddenly. She yawned, and carefully got up, as to not wake Winter if she had fallen asleep also. She stretched and shook herself before trotting to the mouth of the cave to give Hige a welcome nuzzle. She called to the pups to come eat, and sat beside her mate.

As many of the others had Tatti fell into a deep slumber, something that was much welcomed. Being off on her own she rarely had a good rest, but being surrounded by a...no...her pack she felt calm and relaxed and sleep wasn't that hard to coax upon her exhausted mind and body. Curling up near Loki and the white pup known as Winter, Tatti's battered body and mind were able to rest fully.

Time passed and Tatti barely moved an inch, just the slight tremor of her paw or ears along with the steady rise and fall of her chest indicated the little pup was still alive. The sound of Hige and the others returning barely registered to Tatti and she only curled up more to form an even tighter ball with her body. Tiny head rested upon one paw as the other draped over her muzzle and eyes as if warding off any light, that may wish to invade her deep sleep, away.

Hige gave a soft rumble in reply, licking at Loki's muzzle as the pack started to settle in, Thayne and Balan at least.

He gave a playful n** at her ear, and looked to the sleeping forms in their sheltered crevice.

"You should go ahead and eat something, Loki, we haven't stopped for food since the river." He said just to her, remembering the meal they stopped to have on the way to get Shilah, Kaya, and Hinto.

It felt good to be spending this time together, even if it was with a lot more wolves than they originally planned, that was more than okay. It meant a new life, leading their own pack now.

He padded over to Tatiana and Winter, nosing each pup on her muzzle and licking at their foreheads once or twice. "Hey squirts, wake up,"
