“Maybe three days ago. But not a year ago. Unless you were inviting me along in order to poison me.” Hunter inspected the piece of octopus on his fork, turning it around and poking it curiously with the tip of a finger. They were quite cute actually; its tender little baby tentacles all curled. It reminded him slightly of Dacj. Except that she wasn’t an octopus of course. Which meant he had no qualms about eating the little sea critter. Not that knowing the kraken had ever stopped him from eating calamari before.
The raccoon popped it in his mouth, half expecting it to be tough and chewy. Instead it was soft, melting in his mouth. Good choice. For a time he focused on the food; taking turns of eating the artichoke pieces and the baby octopus. When there were only a few pieces left he took a sip of wine and grinned at Banyan.
“However this happened...” he waved his free hand as if to indicate their funny little relationship. “I’m glad it did. Cheers to us sweetheart.” Hunter raised his wine glass to his companion. “I say we order everything on the dessert menu and take a bite of each.”

"That sounds like the most brilliant plan yet, honey," Banyan laughed. "I just hope that I don't eat so much that we can't enjoy the rest of the evening together later."
Banyan went through the rest of her meal enjoying the ambiance and sending compliments to the chef through the waiters. The music never stopped being good, the wine never stopped tasting good, and the company never went sour. This was all going to be so sad when the night was over and she had to go to work all over again the next morning. Would she have anything fun to show for it?, she wondered. She couldn't prove to anyone this had happened. Would Hunter deny this had happened later? Was it worth ruining the moment by asking?
Banyan had a curious look on her face while she polished off the last of her main course and started looking over the dessert menu.

"Even if you do eat too much; we've got all night to play. We can afford a quick nap after dinners to let the food go down."
Hunter turned back to his food and quickly finished off the main and turned to the desserts. The souffle looked nice. The raccoon didn't have any such complicated thoughts as his companion; he was simply enjoying the moment
It wasn't look before their plates were taken away and the waiter had returned to ask if they wanted to order dessert now. "Yeah..." Hunter looked at Banyan inquiring and simply went ahead with his original plan. "We'll have one of each." It wasn't like the list was that big.
"And a nice dessert wine to go with it."
