Daemetia noticed the viciousness in the dust next to her, but wrote it off as excitement. Taking a deep breath, she lunged into the bush, beak snapping, until finally she felt the rewarding fur of prey - but it was kicking! She'd grabbed the rabbit by the leg, and it was struggling profusely in an attempt to get away.

Vantrel pounces just moments after Daemetia, tooth and claw at the ready! She spots the rabbit kicking, and with one lightning fast movement she darts her head forward, striking like a snake, grabs the rabbit by the throat and gives a violent shake. A crack can be heard, and then the rabbit stops kicking.
The winged glances over to her mate, tilting her head. "It did not manage to injure you, right? Are you alright?" She chirps, leaning over to nuzzle the other female.

Daemetia cooed softly, nudging Vantrel back gently. "You worry too much, I'm fine." She eyed the rabbit - quite a fine catch! But would it be enough to feed all four dustlings? She looked up to the winged one, speaking again, "Think that'll be enough?"

Vantrel nods a little, then turns to look at the rabbit. Hmm... "I think we should catch another, make sure there is enough for all of us." She says. It was a large rabbit, but Vantrel has a large appetite!

She nodded, grinning. More hunting was always fun! "I'll help, too!" She pranced a bit behind her mate, whispering, "Alright, do you want to lead this time? And what should we do with that?" Daemetia motioned with her head towards the rabbit. Could they leave it here? She'd never had to catch more than one animal at a time, so this could be a bit tricky.

The winged female chuckles, stalking forward. "Hide it, Darling. It should be fine. And sure, I wouldn't mind leading, so long as you don't mind." She purrs. As the female moves, she seems motre serpent than dustling, her movements are so graceful and silent.
Hearing something, she crouches low, the tip of her tail twitching eagerly.

For a moment, the half-breed considers digging a hole for the bunny, but seeing the other female crouch she simply tucks it into a thick bunch of grass and follows suit. She is distracted by Vantrel's movements for a moment - she was so smooth and just...perfect. Daemetia practically glowed in admiration before remembering the task at hand.

Vantrel glances over to Daemetia, making sure she is ready, before giving and wink, looking forward and pouncing!
Vantrel finds herself with a rabit, a very large and angry one, pinned under her claws. The rabbit manages to n** the dustling's claw, so she returns the favor. However, she waits for Daemetia to deliver the final blow.

Daemetia pounces forward after the female, seeing the struggling animal bite at Vantrel's claw. Immediately she lashes out with her own cruel talons, rending the poor bunny across the belly. Soon it stopped its squirming and was still, apparently dead. The female gave a soft chirp of satisfaction with their work. "You know, we work really well together," she smiled as she spoke, rubbing her head against the winged dust's shoulder.

Vantrel smiles, dropping the rabbit and nuzzling Daemetia, a soft purr escaping her throat. "Yes, my love, we do." She coos, wagging her tail.
"Come," She says then. "The ..... little ones will be hungry, I'm sure." She picks the rabbit up again, waiting for Daemetia to lead the way back to her den.

Squirming and about to burst with energy by now, the halfbreed sprinted off with her rabbit in tow, leaving a decently clear path of squished grass as she made her way back to the den. By now, Daemetia had ceased looking over her shoulder for the winged dust - she knew that Vantrel would be close behind, and trusted her to follow. She screeched to a stop in her traditional fashion on the edge of the pit. Peering in, she scanned for the two children, slightly worried.
The female had already managed to clamber out of the den, her flimsy little claws serving as her main means of exiting. She lunged from the grass, grappled her strong beak into the rabbit's fur and teared at it ravenously. Daemetia took a step back, allowing the rabbit to flop onto the little dustling's head. "She's an energetic one, isn't she?" She giggled to no one in particular, though hopefully Vantrel would be nearby.

Vantrel trots happily after Daemetia, tail wagging. She stops just behind the half-breed, darting back and giving a startled hiss as the female babe attacks the dead rabbit. "Very much so..." Vantrel says, as if she doesn't trust the babe.

The male came slowly from the pit, much more cautious than the female. He sniffed at the rabbit before taking a hesitant bite. Then he began to slowly gnaw his way on a juicy leg, savoring the taste. Tasty! Daemetia snuggled back against Vantrel's side, watching the children. "They're so fuzzy! I don't remember being so fluffy when I was little." She looked over to the rabbit in the winged dust's maw a bit hungrily, licking at her beak.

Vantrel tilts her head as she watches the babes, but doesn't yet say anything. Istead, she sets the rabbit which she was carrying down between her and her mate while cuddling up against Daemetia. The winged waits for her beloved to take the first bite before digging in herself.
"The female... she reminds me of how I was when I was a babe." She says at last. She says that as if that were a bad omen.

Daemetia sniffs at the rabbit for a moment before digging in. After a second, she pauses and rubs her head against Vantrel's neck, whispering, "Thank you," before responding to her statement. "If she grows up into you, then she'll be doing pretty good, eh?" She could hear the female' ominous, fearful rumbles, but regardless of what may have happened in her past...She was happy now, right? And that was worth it.
