"Hutana mythiala. Eltar finilye," she said with more uncertainty. As he took his steps forward, she falteringly took a couple back. He ended up closer to her, her feet hitting the base of the tree roots.

She was so confused, he sliced away the vines like they were nothing. He seemed so odd, but familiar. As if Mother Gaia herself knew him and was whispering the connection to her. Humans didn't exist. She was always told they were fairytale. So what was he? This man who stood before her? Not beast, not elven. He definitely wasn't one of the holy or damned. And his confusion only seemed to fuel her curiosity. Where had he come from?

"Methire layatha len mathe yelahal?" she asked softly as he drew nearer.

(If that is what you wish Ace. And yes, I sorta am making up words, but I'm keeping in mind the way the elves sounded from lord of the rings, cause they're my favorite. ^'^ That and I'm finding ones that sound fun to keep. Like Hutana for human and Eltar for elf. That sort of thing. lol That way, maybe your character can start to make some vague sense of things that are said. Just like how Tolire will start learning on her own, English words. ^'^BTW, I thought your chary's name in this was Robert? Might want to fix that lol)

Tolire tensed as Robert grabbed her shoulder. His words made her heart pound loudly in her ears.

"For longer than anyone could remember, my people have spoke of humans as myth. They once lived on our planet, long ago. But their destructive ways made Mother Gaia cast them away. We remained to heal her wounds," her light voice whispered.

"Whenever tales of humans were passed along, they were of fear and anger. Elven kind were not to welcome humans, for they were inherently evil. But," she confessed.

She knew that if her father found out she was in the presence of a human, that is if he believed in the first place, he would most likely try to send her off the planet. This was something she wanted to prevent, she had only just gotten used to her new surroundings. Besides, humans hadn't been seen in so long that they were thrown in the category along with the boogieman. Something to keep the children in their beds at night.

Looking up into the man's stormy gaze, she wondered if her people were wrong. Slowly, she lifted her hand to cover his on her shoulder. Her long slender fingers dancing along his skin in feather-like touches before settling over the back of his palm.

"But, you do not look like an evil being. I do not think you mean me, or mine harm."

'Earth,' she thinks as he rambles about some human conflict. She didn't know what a Nuclear War meant, but she could tell by his tone that it was both serious for humans and something Mother Gaia would weep if it should occur.

Tolire smiles at hearing him try to say his first elven word. If Mother Gaia permit, she knew she would like to teach him more.

"Yes, the other Eltar. . . no wait. We can not! If anyone were you know what you are, they would see it as an evil omen. My people are always observant of such things. Especially here, in the middle world," she explained fervently. Looking around as if she suddenly felt a spy, Tolire scanned the broad leaves and the thick brush. Her keen eyes swept over the area like a hawk, her senses doubled from the sudden fear.

"I must go."

"Are you good at following?" she asked suddenly. She knew that he would not be safe just standing in the open, nor could she afford to just waltz into the village with him at her side. The only other option would be to take him somewhere where he would not be seen. She knew the forest well enough to think of at least one place he could hide.

"But you don't feel like Eltar kindred. They will know the moment you are in sight. Please, let me take you somewhere safe," she pleaded, pressing their hands to her shoulder more urgently.

"Then I can bring back things to hide you in kindred light." She knew they didn't have much time, her kin knew she was out looking for sap and that it didn't take long to gather it. Which reminded her of the cup still high in the tree.

Nodding in agreement, Tolire pulled away apologetically. She felt the sting of guilt, knowing she was doing something forbidden and hoping not to get caught. Motioning for him to wait, she hopped up on the root and climbed quickly back up the tree. Snatching the cup, she then worked her way back down. Touching him lightly on the shoulder, she sighed.

"I am late. I went to get this and they know I am usually quick at errands." Eyes still darting to catch movement, she pulls him closer as she backs up to some brush.

"Stay with me and stay as quiet as you can," she whispered. Letting him go, she then turned to disappear into the foliage.

(Right, I'll leave it at this then. Give her a chance to respond. lol)

Streams of sunlight glimmered on her prone form as Tolire darted along a footpath. Leaping over fallen logs and dashing around thicker foliage, she wound her way around the village and a little bit upstream. A bird gave off a swirling song as she crisscrossed through a network of intertwined vines.

After working her way through the forest, she abruptly halted on the base of a tree that overhang a cliff. Her feet hooked a root as she leaned over the edge to look below. A high waterfall dropped beside the shelf, the rushing water making a cloud of mist some fifty feet below. The sound of the rapids was a roar so she motioned for Robert to her side instead of speaking. Staying crouched low, she pointed to a very narrow crack that disappeared behind the fall just above the waters edge.
