"It's not very far, if you can keep up," replied the excited doe. "So pick up the pace! We can be there by sundown, and the fireflies will be flying and pretty and glowy!" Poison lead the way, a noticeable rhythm to her bouncy gait. Her hooves moved to the cadence of an old tale, and soon she began to hum, a bit off key, but still recognizable.

And Peeper... Bounced. Not alongside, because each bounce covered an alarming amount of distance per bound, but definitely following and keeping up. "This is gonna be great. My friend won't know what happened. it'll make everything better."

Poison had a bounce in her step, Peeper was literally bouncing, and Hue was...bouncing horizontally, maybe, because he was keeping up pretty well despite never leaving the ground for long.
He cocked his head as Poison started to hum, and Monochrome chimed in in counterpart. "Is your friend not well?" he asked Peeper.

"Um. Well, he's kind of having a really bad ... time. Yeah. So I'm hoping this will make him feel better." He paused slightly, then kept going, bouncing in easy leaps.

Poison stopped humming when she heard Peeper's reply. "I'm really sorry your friend isn't doing well, but flowers make everything better, and prettier!" They had been traveling rather quickly, and when she looked around, she smiled and shouted, "This way!" before taking off at a run over the crest in front of them.

Hue had, unconsciously, stepped in time with Peeper's bounces. The sudden pause made him stumble, though he regained his footing quickly and kept going. He had to smile at Poison, and followed after her. "The flowers ought to cheer him up," he told Peeper reassuringly, following Poison over the crest.

"I hope so." Peeper's legs bunch under him as he goes over the crest of the hill, so that he comes down the other side in a series of leaps and bounds that cover a surprising amount of ground. He's on the look out for the flowers that Poison's promised.

Poison skidded to a stop, rear legs sliding between her front as she tries not to trample the flowers she had just rediscovered. The tall stalks held bright yellow blooms that swayed in the breeze shifting through the trees. "See? I said there were pretty yellow flowers here! Will they match your friend? Will they make him happy?" There was an almost anxious note to her voice. She desperately wanted to help her new friends.

Hue slows and halts, finally, as they reach the flowers. "They're lovely," he remarks, circling them curiously. "Do you cover a lot of ground in the Swamp, then?" he asked Poison.

Poison smiles happily at Hue. "Yup! I'm always running around looking for stuff and flowers and stuff. You wouldn't believe some of the things I've found!" She taps her hooves as she commences to babble about her finds.

Peeper investigates the yellow flowers. They are quite nice, actually, but for what he's thinking, they aren't nearly what he wants. "They're very pretty. But my friend is very orangey colored. I think these are a little too yellow. I really like them, though." He noses at the base of one of the flowers, investigating the root system. "Maybe I'll come back for some."

"Indeed? Have you traveled far, then?" Hue can't imagine going very far from his tree and the birds, comforting and familiar as they are; they're everything he needs, and he can't think of a good reason to try to find a better tree or better birds elsewhere.
He looks sideways at Peeper, thoughtful. "It seems that you've been searching for the right flowers for a while." He had exactly the color he wanted in mind.

"Yup! I started in the South, and moved North, then West, then went East, and then I just made a really big spirally-thing to get here. Well, over in the other flowers. But I moved quickly, because there's so much to see!" Poison was more than happy to inform Hue of her many travels around her beloved home. "What about you, Hue? Have you been many places?"

Peeper listens to all of his rather absently, because what he's thinking of is the flowers. They're not quite right, frankly, and he might even be beginning to get-- well, discouraged. It's hard to find the right flowers for someone! Maybe there are stories about the right flowers? He heaves a sigh that makes his flanks heave and sits down, studying the yellow. "This is hard. I think I want orange, but I can't find the right orange, because it absolutely has to match him because otherwise he'll be upset and then I'll have made it even worse and that's the last thing I want to do because I like him so much." Another big, big sigh, and Peeper even looks a little limp; his ears and tail and even the jaunty sweep of his tail are drooping.

"I haven't gone far," he admitted, nosing thoughtfully at the flowers. "There's a big tree, west of here -- not too far, maybe a day's journey, with many songbirds living in its branches. I usually stay at the foot of that tree." But he'd gone off in a rare fit of wanderlust to see what a larger portion of the Swamp was up to.
Peeper's sigh draws his attention, and he listens with concern -- or maybe just fascination at the strange colors Peeper's monologue creates around the flowers. "I'm sure that he'd appreciate a gesture of kindness from you," he offers tentatively. Being a solitary kimeti, he doesn't know anything about -- well, courting.
