"South." Frenzy points with her nose, into parts unknown, the rough direction she'd been heading in. "And then I will be coming back to travel the length of the Swamp, to prove myself." She has always lunged and grabbed challenges, rather than backing down, and this is no different.
Scale's smile nets him a sharp look and narrowed eyes, but no real comment. "Tomorrow, most likely. I plan to rest for the night in that hollow, up ahead." A switch of her tail to indicate its direction.

"Neat." It is bright, but Love is perfectly content to slurp down a few more frogs and settle where Scale will keep eating. She doesn't mind talking about the idea, but without boulders and things to build with, there's really no point to going anywhere else. "How long do you think it will take you?"

Scale takes this in with a thoughtful expression. He's not considering going to the coast, though it does sound interesting -- it's not that he doesn't enjoy travel, it's that the coast sounds like a hardscrabble place to survive and he much prefers the somewhat lazy, indolent way of life he has now.
And Love enjoys it here, too.
Scale bobs his head in what he hopes is a slightly more polite nod. "We wish you joy of it. And safe travels tomorrow."

"I don't know," she answers Love, though she sounds entirely unconcerned about that. "I won't know how long the journey is until I complete it once. I've already been traveling for six, maybe seven days." The time spent traveling is still irrelevant; she's not the type to count the days until a difficult journey ends.
Scale gets a suspicious look -- Frenzy doesn't forget her first impressions, and she doesn't think that Scale's that charitable -- but she dips her head. "Thank you. I am sure I will need all the blessings I can get."

"Well," Love says as she heaves to her feet, full enough that there is a definite but modest curve to her stomach, "You certainly have mine after this feast. Thank you. There's a good place to sleep further south-- it's marked by three rocks on top of one another. The top one is shaped kind of like a leaf." It's one of Love's attempts to build something, only it hadn't been good enough for anything. They left it behind quite some time ago, she thinks.

"As well as mine." But Frenzy was right; Scale isn't that charitable, and saying that was an exercise in being just polite enough to not be considered rude. He regards Frenzy for a moment longer and then adds, "Let me know if there are any snakes out there."
Glancing at Love as she hauls herself to her feet, he flicks an ear her way and then nods -- and then just leaves, his tail swaying behind him, the rest of his body undulating in that odd, sinuous, sinewy way he has. No goodbyes -- Lizardskin never says goodbye.

"It was the least I could do." Frenzy marks the description in her mind -- something that distinctive ought to be easy enough to find. "Thank you, Love."
Scale's attempts at politeness got a brief, amused curl of her lip, but no further comment. "I will, when I come back up this way. Goodbye -- Love." It might have been a barb at how abruptly Lizardskin had left. She moved south, then, tail swishing slowly behind her as she disappeared into the trees.
