Abigail's gaze slipped to the newcomer as she stepped back a bit, allowing room for the young goldrider. "It was, I must admit." Then Moira left to go play with Galvanth and she pursed her lips, shaking her head, "That girl is going to go about learning things the hard way, I think."
"All of the Weyrs could put them to good use, I believe." Eirlyn took her opportunity to jump into the conversation with a proud smile for Inaari, too tempted to ignore the chance, "I do hope you'll take back a kind word? As you can see all of the Atypical dragons grow well if you care enough." Her gaze settled pointedly on the large, beautiful specimen that was Silver Cavenath.
Abigail smiled to Eirlyn when Malvren's Weyrwoman approach, "My friend! Hello. Indeed, it warms my heart to see a Benden Bronze taken with the hatchlings. Maybe that understanding will assist in the studies your healers have conducted here. I am under the impression the insufferable Givon believes himself sitting on a Queen's Egg worth of information? He doesn't seem to grasp the importance of good relations between the Weyrs, be they Old or New." The bait was set as she slipped it casually into the conversation, his answer witnessed not just be her but three goldriders and those with burning ears nearby.
"Ah yes. Masterhealer Givon." Eirlyn echoed, smiling, "He and I do not get along so well. Nonetheless, I am glad to hear he believes he's found a solution to Benden's little problem..." she trailed off, the pause heavy with implications. Did he know?

All of a sudden there was just entirely too much going on. More and more people were arriving at this funeral, more and more people were talking all at once and doing things. Dragons were moving around and starting to have their own little social moments and for Tiepet...this was entirely too much. Even with Ralae before her (someone she knew) talking and asking her to come along, Tiepet was overwhelmed. She bit her lower lip as she shook her head hard at the invitation, her hands coming up before her torso to give a wave of "no thanks."
"I'm going to go back to where Filly is, and stay with her. I just wanted to come and say good-bye to the Crimsonrider, not. . . well."
Tiepet didn't feel like she had to explain herself more over that, nor did she really want to, and she quickly turned on her heals and started scampering back towards where her green was waiting. Filanth had been silently sunning herself on a ledge and was actually cooing at a few firelizards, likely ones that belonged to people in the Weyr that just happened to come along. It made her long for Skybox and Caine, seeing as she'd left them both behind, but at least everything was okay now?
That was, until Tiepet fell trying to climb back up to Filanth's side. She landed hard on her butt and actually rolled a bit before she could get her balance, the move neither painless nor graceful. That seriously hurt.

Who dares?!
Serinth's eyes whirled red at the voice that intruded into her head, one that she had never heard before nor was she so certain she liked the sound of it. Instantly she raised her jaw from where it'd been resting against Ofelia's shoulder and looked around, a thin hiss escaping her lips. She didn't like to be startled by another dragon, even if Ofelia was okay by it, and it took a slight shift from her rider to get her attention.
Tereth, is it? Where are ya? I didn't think ya an' S'ren would be out 'ere today.

Dynith blinks, someone calling to her? But who? She turns her head to look around. 'Hi Daroth. Mine Mine! Daroth and His are coming. You can meet them.' She sits down and looks at least a little nervous.
Optheli paused and moved back by Dynith's side. "Oh good! I was afraid we'd never get noticed. So nice of him to say hi." She smiles at the blue and woman following him. A giggle answers Nasuymi. "That's alright. He's cute. Congrats on Impressing him. I'm Optheli by the way and my little green is Dynith."

I apologize, young one, I did not mean to startle you, he told Serinth before replying to Ofelia's question. I am over here with the other Trine dragons. Why wouldn't we have come? He gave a small bugle to draw the red-headed Weryling's attention his way. Alumanth and Hers deserve to be honored.
As Ofelia and Serinth made their way through the crowd, Tereth couldn't help but observe all of the interactions going on with and around Galvanth. For a Benden Bronze, he was being quite friendly and gentle with the Werylings and dragonets. Perhaps they were not all as terrible as it had come to seem. But wasn't he one of the ones against Atypicals? I don't understand, he pondered, mostly to himself. His rider could hear him though.
Perhaps he was; I wouldn't know. Other than on issues of color though a Benden dragon shouldn't be different from any of ours, S'ren reminded him. And you said Ofie is headed your way?
The Brown was amused by the inquiry. Yes, she is. Do feel free to come and join us.

It didn't take an idiot to know that the waters were rising when Eirlyn threw her weigh into the pool as well. It took quite a bit of restraint for Inaari to not grimace as the Masterhealer was mentioned. As far as she was concerned, he was the true one to blame for this entire mess, not Benden. If he hadn't been so presumptuous, so greedy for knowledge and impatient with it, this whole tragedy could have been averted. Now he wasn't even keen to share this information that had been bought with coin worth even more than a pile of Smithcraft marks, and that was unacceptable to her. Instead, the girl simply listened. Two extra ears and one less voice was valuable, she needn't always rely on witty remarks to be politically savvy.
Ianath was rather blissfully ignorant of the developments below, however, and moved away from the group of Malvren dragons to better commune with her fellow queen. Cautiously approaching Galvanth, she chirruped at Serlaith and reached her great nose down to the smaller one. She hadn't ever been around a newly Hatched dragonet before, and was enjoying her size suddenly. I could tell him to give her back? You might be able to. Green eyes turned onto the bronze in question, and Ianath regarded Moira curiously. Yours is very brave, Serlaith, to climb on a dragon not hers like that. Inaari had never even considered such a thing! Not even with Cavenath! That was very brave. Ianath was not sure she really approved, but if everyone tried to be the best queen, as she did, it would be harder for her to be the very best.
Some had to be the bravest.

Scarath stopped a polite distance from the Benden bronze. He was far enough away to comfortably watch the new Queen fussing at Hers and the bronze. On second thought, he wasn't sure if he should add to the chaos already around the bronze. S'kor watches the new queenrider with in trepidation. He supposed she was young, but should she really be climbing all over a dragon like that? Particularly one that wasn't her dragon. He glanced at the queen fussing and hoped nothing bad happened because of it.

I am happy to see you, Dynith. Are you well? Can I get you anything?N'ymi did not know the girl who had impressed the little green. She was not weyr folk but not really an outsider as well. Traders held their own rules and own code of honor. "Nice t'meet ya, Optheli. Name's N'ymi. An' nice lookin' green there. Dun' mind Dar. If he bothers y'all too much, jus' let me know."

You are kind to say so, Lifth, and wise to be so broad minded. Many of your fellows feel strongly otherwise-- perhaps you might speak to them, so that they will know that Benden dragons do not wish harm upon Trine dragons? Galvanth was in his element as much as his rider was, surrounded by dragonets and climbed upon by his best Moira. He could not have been happier unless those dragonets were his own, though he refused to tell S'raid as much. S'raid, predictably, already knew. This is my best Moira, the Bronze confided in the little Blue, eyes whirling once more with happy blue-greens.
"Perhaps so. He would greatly enjoy the opportunity to fuss over his own dragonets, I think. While highly unusual, I feel that it would be a... rewarding experience for the Weyr." And for Galvanth, of course. Having his own dragonets to spoil would probably make the Bronze very happy. There was no way of knowing if the possibility would ever come up for him, but S'raid liked to think an opportunity might arise in the future. With the lower fertility of the Benden Queens, however, who knew if he would have the chance to interact with a Golden daughter all his own? A shame, that.
Not that S'raid enjoyed it, of course. "It is unlucky that Benden would choose to hatch Atypicals, I think. I will certainly pass my observations along, but mine is only one voice." A voice that demanded it be heard. He glanced toward Galvanth, and shook his head when he saw Moira... perched on the Bronze's head. "She is rather... unusual for a Queenrider, I will admit. I'm afraid I'm not quite used to her brand of, hmm, enthusiasm." Enthusiasm was one word. There were others. Quite a few others. "Galvanth seems to think she will do very well in the end. I trust that Trine will take care of its own, in that respect."
Now... there was a new player, here, and one that he was unfamiliar with. Largely unfamiliar, that is. "No doubt that Silver will one day rival my Bronze for size," he told Eirlyn, and did a very admirable job of concealing his discomfort with that very fact. "Of course, Weyrwoman." Surrounded as he was by them, he still felt exceptionally comfortable. After all, did not every Bronzerider have to prepare for the possible eventuality of becoming Weyrleader? While he had no assurance of achieving that rank, becoming at ease in the presence of authority while maintaining the proper respect was very important, all things considered.
Why was it that all of the women from the Modernist Weyrs were so damnably clever? The corners of his lips twitched, revealing what was probably the most genuine smile that he had displayed that evening, though it was closer to a smirk. "No, I will warrant that Master Givon is not at all concerned about keeping up a good rapport between the Weyrs, New and Old. He is much more concerned with his Craft, though I have not found that to be unusual, among Craftmasters. It is unfortunate that he had not stepped with greater care in the process of uncovering his findings-- whatever they may be. He has not been terribly forthcoming about them"
I will give her back, Galvanth promised, distressed that the little Queen was distressed. They will not want you to come visit, he pointed out, rumbling with pleasure when she kissed his hide. They will want to keep my Moira from me. I do not like this. Perhaps I will come to you? Even with S'raid, who would not be pleased by it. He was very careful with her, not at all willing to risk harm to Moira, who had come to him of her own volition. I would not drop her. He was not some clumsy young Bronze who did not know his own strength, nor how to be graceful. No. He, Galvanth, was Seven Turns old, and very wise indeed.

Dynith ducks her head shyly. 'I am glad you're happy Daroth. I am. Mine takes very good care of me. I... umm.....' She shifts a little from nervousness and looks anywhere but the blue. Which was a feat in itself with his muzzle right in front of her face.
Relax Dynith. He's only trying to be friendly. Offer him something he can do for you. 'Theli sensed her dragon's confusion and offered a bit of advice. "A please N'ymi! I've been looking for someone to meet, and it seems as though everyone is avoiding me." She gives a pout before giggling, "oh, he's not bothering us at all." 'You don't have to get me anything, but if you want too then you can pick.' She hoped that was enough to satisfy Daroth and Hers as she looked at him.

Turning away from the little Trine dragons, was she really that small when she'd hatched? Zinth looks at the bigger Benden group off to the side. All but ignoring the large bronze and his own gathering he'd seemed to amass, Zinth's eyes whirled a happy blue at spotting a green dragon not very far from him. Mine! Mine there's a big green, oh let's ask if she knows any Benden games, please? She didn't wait for any reply as she started to make her way towards Yvoth, sending her best happy croon to the bigger green.
"What? Zinth wait a minute!" No, he'd not remembered to keep the words silent between them this time, and A'li had to walk swiftly to keep up with his partner. They might not like your company Zinth. Though the argument is likely to fall on deaf ears, the Bronze seemed to be very at home with dragonets about him. But that didn't mean the green nearby would be so happy to see a Southern dragon sidling up to her like that. At least his Zinth had decided to go and speak with a Green dragon, and not someone like that bronze, or a Brown somewhere. He still was not the most comfortable around the male gender after all.
Mine it will be okay! Zinth was too happy at the thought of learning a new game to worry about any bad sides to this. Her good mood was just lightly toned down at seeing Ianath there, and she stopped just a short ways away from the bigger green Yvoth. Hello! I'm Zinth and this is A'li mine, do you know any games from Benden? She'd never learn the game of being subtle, would she.

Tiepet's sudden flight, and subsequent fall, did not go unnoticed. Taikoth, not too far from Filanth's ledge, noticed the girl's apparent alarm. But she was a Malvren rider, one of the Senior Weyrlings... It was clear enough from her dragon's size and the fact that neither were at all familiar. Was someone starting trouble already? And with Malvren, of all weyrs? Eyes flickering in multicolored hues of concern and indignance on her behalf, the little black slid over towards the green. Is everything all right? he asked of Filanth. Simultaneously, he peered towards Tiepet and made what he thought was a very tactful noise of concerned inquiry. This very tactful noise came out as something like bwuuuurrrhhhh?
Oh First Egg, Taikoth was doing something. T'vek could tell. The former runner was not very large. In fact, he could probably double as a runnerbeast jockey in some circles. This made it very, very difficult to see over the crowd... But he was still very good at getting places quickly. Neatly as a minnow darting upstream he slid through the crowd, ground-eating stride covering the distance rapidly without him appearing to actually run at any point. Wouldn't want to draw needless attention.
Soon enough he'd reached his black and the girl. "Taikoth," he grumbled in warning, one hand on the dragon's snout and the other reaching out to help Tiepet up. "Sorry about him."

Abigail visibly slumped while Eirlyn merely sighed and leaned in closer. "That's a shame. Is he so paranoid he won't even trust a Bronzerider? I pity him, then... we may have our differences but I at least have my inner circles." She smiled as she leaned back, the quirk of her brow inviting.
Abigail nodded then, "Whatever they might be, they were found in Trine's Territories. It... would be in all our best interests to have that information shared. I was planning on sending a positive review of your conduct in any case. You never know what a good word might do for a Rider's career and I believe you've done what you can to maintain honour in your own way. Too bad Givon is not more atuned to the nobility of the dragonriders." It was more bluntly put then either of the Weyrwomen would have liked to put it but the 'scratch my back, I'll scratch yours' was plain enough.
Even across the vast divide between Old and New, Weyrleaders still communicated, if briefly. A recommendation, even from Trine, was a positive mark for S'raid.
Both the Weyrwomen watched him, waiting to see if he'd take the bait. Abigail looked more eager then Eirlyn, however, who was certain this second try would either catch the other or leave them without a solid tie to Benden. Either way, she was most curious as to how his thoughts might lie - copying the healer's information was no streak of disloyalty to Benden, and beyond that, she mused, it was a mark for him in the eyes of Pern.
But would he see that?

The girl was younger than her, she was sure of it. Grabbin' two redfruits, she offered on to the smaller girl. "Now thin's are bound ta get better." At first upset because Dynith didn't need anything, Daroth was quickly pleased when she told him to he could go get her something. Determined, the little dragon set off to see what he could get that was within his reach.
He found a red flower. Grabbing it gently, he brought it back to the green and dropped it at her feet. It is not food or oil but it is pretty.

Broad-minded? Wise? Well, that was certainly one perspective. To Lifth's mind it seemed to be more of simple logic. Why punish an innocent party after all? The Bronze's suggestion amused him though. Speak to them? I am but a few days old. My opinion holds no weight yet. Regardless of the fact that he was correct on the matter. Still, there was time. He would grow and gain due respect with age, at which point his views may be seen for their validity. Until then, all he could really do was observe and learn. Your best? Well then, do give my greetings to your best.
Seeing that her dragon was rather occupied with the others and was not in any immediate need of her, G'brel decided it might be best to simply slip back into the crowd. I'm just going to be checking things out for a bit. Do call me if you need me.
No need to be concerned. I will be fine here.

Tiepet hadn't really bothered to get up from where she was laying (she was sort of hidden from everyone) though she did want to move when Filanh had started to protest unhappily in her head. Thankfully covered in nothing but a few scrapes and slight bleeding she was ready to get to her feet when a massive black dragon appeared near Filanth and actually called down to her, the noise unsettling and entirely unfamiliar.
Yes, Tiepet screamed. It was only a natural reaction, one echoed for a moment by Filanth in the form of a roar before she actually answered the question and a human rider appeared to help the small Shepherd to her feet.
I'm sorry for my actions, you started her and she in turn startled me. Everything seems to be alright now, she fell. Mine is not very graceful in shoes. I am called Filanth.
'Not graceful' was a slight understatement, as Tiepet walked in them the same way anyone would walk with heavy blocks of cinder tied to their feet. She didn't like the way they pinched, the way the made her have to stand - it was all a mess.
Still, the Shepherd had to respond now - she'd drawn attention to herself with her scream and with her dragon. This man before her likely only meant concern for her with his actions, but it was making her flustered.
"S-Sos-..sorry. I fe-fell trying to get to Filly and...he came over and...I d-d-didn't meant to scream at him."
Tiepet took the extended hand and pulled herself up, dusting whatever she could off before she noticed the flakes of blood slowly growing on her hands. Filanth's eyes whirled yellow with worry for a moment, though they started to settle at heavy reassurance.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to. I.,..I'm Tiepet....of Green Filanth. Mal...Malvren W-w-Weyr."

It only took Ofelia a moment or two to reach Tereth's side, even hauling the additional weight of her dragon, and the tanner's face broke into a large smile for the first time in what seemed like such a long time. She was overly delighted to see the brown, he was her first friend here (in her opinion anyway) and according to his rider, she was one of the few people he didn't mind speaking with. It had always been cool to know that and it would remain that way, even though Ofelia could now speak with Serinth in her mind.
"Tereth, it's good ta see ya! I 'aven't seen ya since before the hatchin' took place, how ya been? Would ya like ta meet Serinth? She's sulkin' over ya right now, sayin' that I like ya a lot more than I like 'er. Jealousy already an' barely shelled."
I didn't say that at all, you're making it up as you're going. I haven't said a single thing.
Serinth huffed and wriggled in Ofelia's arms, prompting her to be released onto the ground where she sat herself down rather unceremoniously. Her eyes were still slightly red as she looked at the brown, unsure of what to think.
What are you to Ofie? She likes you too much for you to just be another brown.
