You can usually change how your sound is handled through the control panel... supposedly, you can even have your output plugged back to your input(microphone, et cetera.)
But I don't have that option, and in-fact, my computer plugs output back into input automatically.
I can't do anything while I'm on skype :[

I would enjoy seeing you take on a game that wasn't a platformer, because it's relatively mundane (jump, shoot, dodge).
