Erkamina continued down her path, not straying from it. Even as she once again tuned away from the center, she held her faith. It had already looped around close to the center once and she maintained her judgment that it would do so again. Her footsteps echoed off the walls and continued into the silence, seeming to go on forever. She tightened her shoe as it tried to slide off of her slender foot. She remembered that her mother also had those skinny feet that looked like skates or skis but her father had relatively short feet for a man. She sighed as she remembered why she became a shinobi, why she wouldn't allow her will to falter, why she now traversed this maze's path. She wanted, more than anything, to find those that took her father and rip their throats out. But then she also wanted to prove that her father's name was not the bearer of disaster and disappointment it had been portrayed to be. Everyone in Mist seemed to either hate him or not care one way or the other as others poked fun at the man for only being a Genin. Erkamina figured that if he'd ever really been given a chance he would have shown the world, now she would do it in his stead- show everyone that a no-name can be strong. She turned again, facing the center once more. This was the last turn, she didn't see any more turns at all, it seemed to be a straight shot. Now it was time to have one last mad dash to the finish! Or so it seemed. She sprinted forward only to see that the path came to a T junction, one of which was marked. It was a complete circle and not even in the right direction.

… Soon I will show the world the worth of that name.’

Erkamina went down the unmarked path and it seemed to go in the direction she wanted to go but it also seemed way too easy. After what she'd just gone through with all those twists and turns this path seemed too straight forward to be of any real use. But she had only this shot, this path, or else she'd have to majorly double back and she was not in the mood for that. She just walked, not thinking of what-if right now, just trying to keep her sanity long enough to find whatever she was supposed to find and get out of this forsaken maze. She wondered what kinds of shinobi she would face in the next round as she walked as well as what kinds of tests could be ahead. "Well, this one's intellect so the next should be either luck or skill of some form, maybe a battle? If so I hope I'm paired with someone easy. It would be detrimental to come this far and do all this maze crap for nothing." She said as she noticed that the path turned towards the center, if only slightly. "Hopefully this isn't a false path like the other one was..." An explosion rocked the area and she was thrown back again, this time into the wall behind her. "Damn, a trap... Wait, this one's not a dead end..." She said as the smoke cleared and revealed another junction, this time resembling a lower-case t. "I hate mazes..."

… Soon I will show the world the worth of that name.’

((mystic you know you have to post 50+ lines each time you want to make a progress check right? you are rolling to many times XD;; ))

Sure enough it was not the center but it was a different location a two way fork, this was nice for a change, though her hand determined which path she would go down as she proceeded along the path to the right. Hatsuma thought about how many genin would have gone nuts with the decision on the paths to take; she also wondered how many people would take the time to map out the maze as much as possible. She yawned again. This maze was quite impressive in terms of complexity; to get through quickly would require extreme luck. Hatsuma thought back to the story she had told Oasis the night before the left for the exams. ‘Asaki Lead the hunting crew along the desert trench to capture game that often hid itself within. “Ok Hatsuma this is your first hunt with us so be on extra guard alright?” Asaki explained looking back to the five year old Hatsuma. Her stoic nature was ingrained even then as her face didn’t show the excitements that one so young should show, nor did the fears expected of one. Her appearance consisted of short blond bobbed hair as well as a hunter’s poncho, she wore these in place of her top since their design allowed the movement of her additional limbs, No one seemed to be bothered by the additional limbs in the tribe.
“Alright Asaki-kun I’ll be careful…”, Hatsuma’s voice squeeked out in a response to the hunting group’s leader. They continued onwards deeper into the trench. Looking around the young Hatsuma noted the many fissures that twisted away from the main trench and though of what it might be like to get lost in one. Her attention quickly went back to the hunt as she followed after the hunting party. Strange sounds began echoing throughout the trench something akin to a hiss combined with a howl. The sound bellowed out amplified by the layout of the trench.
“Get ready, it looks like it’ll come to us this time.” Asaki stated just before the visage of their hunt arched its massive head from the bend ahead of them. The beast came into full view now standing on two legs its foremost limbs hold massive talons which clung to the sides of the trench as it pulled itself towards the group. The massive reptile like creature gave out a bellowing roar before setting its crimson eyes to the hunting party. The beast was like something out of a story Hatsuma thought as she watched it close in on the crew. She readied the small hook spear she’d been given as the rest also readied them selves. The creature seemed to almost grin as it seemed to burst forward with rather startling speed. Not one but two tails shot at them from behind the beast. The massive tails crushed through pillars of stone that jutted up naturally throughout the trench. Hatsuma noted a large rock falling towards her and dove away. Her attention on the rock and the ensuing beast battle didn’t give her time to notice where she had actually jumped to. She landed with a thud and slid down along a narrow shoot down into one of the fissures. Reaching the base of the chute finally she dusted herself off and got to her feet.
“I need to find my way out…” the young Hatsuma said to herself before she began walking along the fissure tracing her hand along a wall as she did so…’ Snapping back to reality Hatsuma continued onwards down the passage. She knew this situation seemed familiar to her. This gave her an edge of confidence after all she was able to escape the nature made fissure with little harm to her self. A manmade collection of fissures would be no different… no there would be a difference, they were manmade and therefore they were calculated to be as difficult as possible. However one cannot easily calculate the most difficult scenario therefore this likely paled in comparison to the difficultly of raw and natural labyrinths. A small boost of self confidence boosted her pace a little bit as she continued taking notes of the twists and turns of this deceiving place. Hatsuma walked on and began counting the floor tiles as she did so, it might help to pass the time as she traveled along. As it was she was already well over four miles worth of walking due to the fact she had to make so many turns and had to travel through so many dead end passages. The method always worked out in the end, though having the person using it make it to that end was the difficult part. Sometimes doing this pattern could add days onto something that going the path straight through might take minutes. Hatsuma sighed as she reached another deadend, her feet were pretty tired so she opted for another moment of rest. At the center of the maze was the prize… however was there more then one prize? If there was, would there be enough for all the combatants. Likely it would be something that weeded out a large number of the genin so the prize was probably limited. This also meant that it was likely required you hold onto whatever you get in the center until you can get back out of the maze. Hatsuma rubbed at her feet a bit and replaced the shoes she had removed before getting back to her little wall trick. She left the deadend and made a turnaround a bend and onto another passage.

Hisaki found that at the end of the hallway was a connection of halls, and straight ahead was a cavernous opening. Hisaki entered through, and found that he stood in an open area filled with chests. In the center of the circle of Chests was a pillar that said, and Kasei said aloud, "Take One." Hisaki walked over to an unopened chest, and kicked the top open. He reached down into the chest and withdrew an object of some sort.

He tried to get a better look at it in the dim light, so he held it above his head. Hisaki figured that if he could get it to reflect off of the ambient light a bit, he could tell what is was, so he rotated it in his hands as he did, "Kanji. I think it's a symbol with some sort of kanji on it. Looks like its made out of stone or somethin'. And it has a string on it so I can hang it somewhere on me." Hisaki took the stone kanji and put it around his neck, "Okay then... Now what?"

Hisaki looked around at all the open boxes, but complete lack of ninja. Then it dawned on him, "There's not enough for everyone. If everyone where to come to this room, just more than half would come out with one of these things. The other ninja that picked up their kanji ran into the labyrinth, I bet. I'll need this to pass the rest of the exam. I can't let an opponent catch me, or they'll try to take mine..." Hisaki looked to the side he didn't come from, and there was an exit. Down the hall he came from, he heard footsteps, so Hisaki took off, using the best of his speed increasing jutsu to get into the next section of labyrinth.

Once he got out so far, Hisaki stopped to breathe, "Funny how they set up this exam. First you think you gotta get out, but then you find out you gotta stay in. How clever." Hisaki casually tossed away his cigarette, and smushed it into the ground. It wasn't until it was completely ground into the dirt that he noticed, "CRAP! THEY CAN FOLLOW ME WITH THAT!" He stamped on it a few more times, than dashed off in a panic.

’I shall fight to honor the name of Kaiten, the name of my father…

Erkamina sighed and went down the path to the right, figuring the path she was just on was just filled with more booby traps. And with the last one tossing her like salad she wasn't exactly keen on repeating the experience. She rubbed her back where she'd hit the wall and grumbled as the path continued forward, seeming to go on forever. Of course so did the other one. She wanted to punch the wall but that would do her no good. She just needed luck and focus. She slid around a corner carefully as the path seemed to curve again. Of course she expected this path to be a really long one, but probably a false one again, knowing how bad her luck had been lately. She bit the inside of her lip slightly as she thought about her lot seriously. Maybe this would be what her life would be like, filled with wrong turns and doubling back. Maybe she inherited her father's supposed 'curse' of bad luck. No, he wasn't unlucky or cursed, just unappreciated and under-estimated. She looked forward, she would change her own luck, she would make it for herself by her own hard work. That was her way and this was her life. She wouldn't let any one or any thing stand in the way.

… Soon I will show the world the worth of that name.’

Of course this path had lead to more twist and turns and direction of which to choose from. Hatsuma’s choice made before she even saw the jumble of pathways. Hatsuma followed the path that the wall her hand touched was attached to as always. If she completed this task she wondered what the other two would be… they always had exams done in three sections… it was likely the last test was to be some sort of fighting competition. That left the second part of the exams to be a variable. The first test measured ones logic and luck and the last one would be measuring ones technique and actual skill, would the second exam measure ones personal judgment? Judgment was an important aspect of a shinobi after all it was a high probability that the second test would involve some kind of decision that would measure one’s judgment in various situations. Hatsuma felt a bit of anticipation for whatever the second test might be, it also gave her things to plan out for the future… the future, if she passed the exams what would she do? How would she be treated by others/ how would her duties change? Becoming a chuunin was a big deal in the shinobi world and despite what many thought it was a rare occasion for one to jump straight from the academy to becoming a genin and directly into a chuunin on the first chance. Hatsuma would take this experience with her regardless if she succeeded on the first try. It helped her measure her own ability which is something that is always valuable to a shinobi’s growth. Gaining the knowledge of one’s limits allows them to be pushed to the brink without falling into nothingness. “25-50% of the maze has been covered now I think I should be getting somewhere within a short amount of time, the next bend should be a new one that I’ve not been in before.” Hatsuma commented to herself on her progress. She gathered that she had covered a good chunk of the maze with her method so it was only a reasonable assumption to the fact most areas she entered would be new ones, she was also further into the maze then before, she noticed that the outer wall wasn’t as rough as the walls further into the maze, this meant rougher walls would mean further into the maze. This bit of evidence was helpful however finding the rougher feeling walls was a bit difficult since you had to touch the walls to actually feel the difference in texture; the lighting was dim enough that it wasn’t that noticeable to the eye. Suddenly another memory shot back to her as she remembered the things she had studied from the women in the nomad village.
‘ “All right little Hatsuma we are going to start your dance practice today. It’ll help you get you mobility and reflexes up plus its fun and its something only women can do well!” the elaborately dressed woman said with a smile. Young Hatsuma sat calmly dressed in a wrapped sort of attire that was a makeshift of the type of dancing clothes the woman wore. The garbs exposed the midrift and had a rather flowing skirt. The top covered only the torso and had no sleeves. Hatsuma’s top was the article that was different being of a wrapped cloth rather then a manufactured article. “Okay we should start with some basic hip movements, when you step forward you’ll use your hip motion to move your foot rather then lifting and placing your foot like normal, now get up and put your hands out like this and turn your lower body so a hip is is facing out and set one foot with the toe facing forward… like this see?” the women explained putting her tanned arms out words spanning them open like wings or as if to give a hug, her hip was pointed forward with her foot as she explained though the visual helped Hatsuma to understand better.
“Understood…” Hatsuma stated bluntly getting to her feet and accurately mimicking the teacher save the expression on her face.
“Oh that’s good form, this position is the desert’s embrace, it’s how we start our dances… now follow after me move your hip in a quick motion and let the momentum lift your foot and move you forward, like this.” The woman moved her hip in a fluid motion her forward foot lifted slightly and her rear foot slid along afterwards. The woman gave a clap of her hands after a few more of the hip movements. “Clapping helps to make a rhythm it also signifies the end of a motion, it’s used for other things too but we’ll get to that in time. You try it.” The woman said usher Hatsuma to follow along after her, a smile on her face as she awaited the little one.
“Very well…” Hatsuma stated bluntly moving her hip a few times not being able to lift her foot until the forth hip thrust. Her foot lifted and she fluidly slid forward like her teacher had shown, she did it a couple of more times clapping as she finished. Her face remained stoic and strict as she looked to her teacher for further instruction.
“That was good little one, I have no doubt you’ll be a fine dancer I have something else for you to practice, I want you to work on smiling, a dance is meant to bring joy to the dancers and the viewers but if you don’t smile there isn’t as much joy in it. You practice smiling and I’ll see you tomorrow little one.” The woman explained patting the top of the young hatsuma’s bobbed hair before turning about and wandering out into the village.’ Hatsuma recalled her other dance lessons and smiling lessons as well only one of the two showed great progress. Hatsuma came out into another opening and examined it carefully.

Fuyu desided that it'd be best to figure out what those pieces of paper on the wall were. He used his chakra control to control the chakra in his feet and walk up the wall. He got close enough to touch the paper, then learnt the hard way that it was a bad idea to try that. He got an instant shock and was shot back to the ground and onto his back. Quickly, Fuyu arched his back as he grimmised in pain since it was his back that hit the ground first, with the wicked blade underneath him. He quickly rolled over onto his stomach and waited for a moment for the pain to fade a bit. Once it did, he got up onto his knees and pulled the blade out. He was making sure he didn't damage it since hi might need to rely on it later in the exams. Everything seemed alright, but that ment nothing since he didn't know much about blades. This was the first real sword he'd ever owned so it wouldn't be a wounder why he didn't know much. He took another moment to re-gain his mind and then stood up straight. He thought for a moment longer and desided to go down the left hand side and follow that path where ever it would take him. He soon realized that this was a huge maze, as he came appon another cross section of four directions, he turned right and followed that direction. That must have been the reason for the seals, to make sure that no-ome would cheat and just climb over. He pondered trying to think of how he'd unlock this puzzle as he contined to make turns and walk around. As he continued to go he was starting to get annoyed. Every wall was the same and any markings he would make would just help the others who were taking the test. Another thing he figured was that the instructors were watching to make sure no kids completely broke down. Fuyu looked around a corner and desided to turn left this time. He was starting to wounder where the hell he was but it didn't really matter as he had to go and find his objective and get the hell out of this maze. It was around this time that he heard the voice of Fujin in his head. Calm down Fuyu, you are doing just fine in this maze. I promise that there people worse off than you in this exam. He stated in his origional tone of voice. Fuyu just nodded and took a left turn. I suppose... he pondered as he also thought about which way to go at another intersection. Fujin, were did you exactly come from? He asked quite randomly. He wasn't expecting an answer so he was a little shocked at what Fujin replied with. You're the first one to ask that in a long long while to ask me that question and maybe only the fourth person to do so ever..... I origionally was a demon, pleauging humans with more and more violent wind storms then they could deal with and every single time probalby killing about twenty of them every storm. Lets just say that there would have been a LOT more people in this world if I'd not created those storms. Anyways, Legend states that Buddha captured me and Raijin... not completely true... We did fight, but it was more to the point that Raijin and I had gotten bored of defending ourselves so we gave up. He saw the potential in both of us and asked us to be the gods of what we did best. We both accepted but we couldn't just kill for fun any more like we had been. Centuries passed and Raijin was becomming more and more upset at his restrictions. He finally desided to break the code with Buddha that he'd made and created over thirty huge thunder storms in which so many died that I lost count as I watched. Buddha sent his army from heaven as quickly as he could but they were just getting destroyed. Eventually I stepped in and bound him up. Buddha only gave us one rule and Raijin broke it, so there was no forgiveness this time. So he was destroyed, but since I was completely surrounding him at the time, I was damaged a lot and could no longer stand up to the ranks of gods. Me and Buddha talked as I healed, then we desided that I'd be the Guardian of the winds. Even though no longer a god, I still control the winds, just now help guide the spirits of each individual wind. This is now where you come in Fuyu. You are one of those spirits I'm here to guide and make sure the demon and my counter-part Raijin doesn't take you for himself to try and re-oppose Buddha and the other gods. Fuyu was taken back at this and could only stop and blink. That was quiet the story but there was one thing off about it.... Fujin... didn't you state that Raijin was destroyed? Ah.... yes I did but you see, his powers where so great that he could have only been sent to live in the underworld and thus be imprissoned. Un-fortunately he's been gaining a few of the spirits that other Guardians were suppost to guide so he only needs one full wind spirit to be released... that's you Fuyu....

Yua exited the boat she had unsummoned Senkai and now had the scroll on her back she had never been outside of water country so this was an odd experience for her The town was full of villager's and many people from other nations she saw a wide mixture of different headbands with different symbols of the other ninja nations. She had also somehow found a way to separate herself from the rest of the mist ninja's, Yua shrugged it off though she knew where she was supposed to go. Yua made her way through the streets there where lots of shops, it made since to set up shop during the exams people from all over where around and it was easy selling things Yua smirked as she walked through the whole town until a man came up to her he seemed to be in a huff."You, ...your....with the Mist ninja's....right?The man was completely out of Breath Yua just nodded, and he showed his badge revealing he was staff for the exams."Your very late come with me."The man pulled Yua along by the arm towards the exam area. Yua went to protest but it was obvious the man wasn't going to listen so she let herself be dragged to the exams. Once inside she was directed towards an underground labyrinth, then the door behind her closed and she sighed. "Well i guess i'm supposed to navigate this thing." Yua said as she looked around she saw that the walls where high enough to jump over but knew that it would not be that simple so she decided to start moving through the maze. At first she strolled leisurely, listening for any sound she knew others would of had to have been inside. She made her way through though at her own pace she was concerned that she had yet to really hear others, it must have meant the maze was a massive size. Yua continued to move through the maze she wished she had learned a more useful Jutsu for this type of situation but she would have to make due with what skills she had, she hefted up her scroll and tightened her bandoleer which held the scroll in place. She was very glad to have Senkai with her for this, she would need his help if she went up against a strong opponent. Yua had not perfected her ninjutsu skill so the puppet would have to do all the work. Yua sighed as she walked through the maze as she got farther in she began to hear sounds like echoing voices of others taking the test she began to move mush more stealthy. She would rather avoid a fight this early in these exams. She quickly moved along the ground, making her way through she stopped at every corner and peered around. When she didn't see anything she began to move again. She had hoped the early parts of the exams would have been with squads. But no such luck, but then thinking back to her training Erkamina probably would have fended for herself, which would have left Yua holding the bag again. So maybe it was best that they worked separate. Yua continued to move quickly and quietly through the maze, she kept one hand behind her on her scroll in case she would need to summon Senkai. She was nervous about rounding a corner and running into someone. Yua was also controlling her breathing if someone was hunting others their breathing was the most likely thing to give them away and Yua did not want to make a rookie mistake here, especially not at the first test. Yua stopped for a moment and caught her breath she had been moving non stop since entering this maze so she also needed to make sure she wasn't going in circles Yua pulled out a Kunai and etched on the wall very close to the ground, a symbol that she had made it was a circle with a smaller circle within it and a 'Y' shape in the center. Yua smirked looking at it and then put her Kunai away and began to move again, if she came by that same spot she would know she went the wrong way, Yua smirked as she moved again trying to keep a steady speed and pace while also trying to keep her movements as hidden as she possibly could. Yua kept going and marking her way, she heard someone yell loudly in the maze and quickly moved into a defensive stance putting her right hand in front of her and her left behind her on her scroll. Yua also sniffed the air, she smelt something, it smelt like cigarette smoke, someone must have been smoking in the maze, that was a good way to give themselves away. Yua ignored it for now and once things got quiet she continued to move as quickly as she could. She hopped she was getting close now as she rounded a corner, Yua sniffed the air, the faint scent of the smoke was to the left, she decided to go right instead just to avoid confrontation but before she did she marked her symbol on the wall close to the ground to make sure she remembered where it was. Yua continued to move through the maze Holding she scroll with her left hand making sure it stayed on her back. She needed Senkai if a fight occurred otherwise if she came up against a superior opponent without him she would be in big trouble. Yua came up to a dead end and decided to sit and rest as she sat she thought of Katsuko she hadn't really gotten to talk with the girl much but liked her already she seemed like a very fun person to be around, Yua would have to find a way to spend more time with her and get to know her, although her brother or whatever that guy was seemed like such a grump, that it was weird because Katsuko seemed like fun, and her brother was such a hard a**. But Yua didn't have siblings so maybe thats the way things where normally.

Fuyu continued to walk and ponder at the same time. What made him so special to be a wind spirit? there was nothing, he was just a blind genin that no instructor would take seriously as a shinobi because he was missing one of the most vital sences a human could have. Why?... Why me Fujin? what makes me so different from everyone else who could be the spirit to choose me? a blind shinobi from the desert? For a moment, there was no reply. He just shook his head and continued on with trying to figure out this stupid maze and get out of here were he could do something closer to his abilities. He continued to move when Fujin finally desided to speak up again. It was your determination in a single goal which made us choose you...Even though blind, you choose to become a shinobi and trained, and trained, and trained even though the academy had rejected to take you as a student for four consecutive years. You had to go to a private meeting with all the instructors and impress over half of them with what you were able to do even though blind. Everyone saw failure and a burden in you... yet you showed them pride and determination to never give up when you have a goal in your mind, like the goal that's in your mind to find out all you can about your father, including whether he's alive or not. That's why we choose you Fuyu, it's something that isn't found much more these days. Fuyu was just awe struck. He never figured that it would be his willingness to fail and then try again. He grinned slightly and had a little more of a bounce in his step, almost quite litterally as he jumped up onto the wall and started to walk on it using his chakra control and continue through the maze like this for a bit.

Yua sighed as she sat on the ground and caught her breath she continued to think. She had a lot of thoughts running through her mind as she though about building a second Puppet when she got home if she had known the exams would have been this soon she would have worked on the second one right away, as imagines ran through her head, she smirked at the idea she was already coming up with for the second puppet. She thought about constructing it in her apartment with tools scattered everywhere. Puppet parts laying all around her as she hummed working. Then Yua came back from the day dream and realized she was still in this dark stanky place and sighed as she stood, and began to walk again hefting the heavy scroll up onto her back, for an untrained person the scroll would seem like a massive weight but for Yua the scroll was light almost like she wasn’t caring anything. She grinned at the thought of her own strength and how far she had come since she had first joined the academy. She remembered her first day there, it was horrible she was picked on for not being very good at Genjutsu or Ninjutsu, so she had worked very hard to improve herself in every way so others would not make fun of her. But now she didn’t need to worry about those things she had Senkai, and he would be her secret weapon this whole exam, she would not use him unless she absolutely needed to, she stopped and scratched at the ground then got close and inspected it, someone had been through here, they seemed lost. Which was good for Yua because it meant she wasn’t the only one. She smirked and looked at the shape of the roof, she was definitely making progress towards the center of the maze, she hoped that was the goal and not to find some exit on the opposite end, although she doubt that was the case because it seemed like people had been put into the maze at different points and everyone trying to find one exit others would have more of an advantage depending on where they where put into the maze. Yua sighed and then began moving again trying to find her way she needed to be quick because if the goal was to get to the end then she was behind other’s of coarse she already knew that thanks to the man who had brought her to the examination area, she wished she could have stayed in the marketplace a while longer. She wanted to buy some trinkets to take home it wasn’t often that ninjas traveled to other countries under friendly conditions. Yua smirked as she continued moving quickly through the maze when she heard voices again she stopped and placed her backside towards the wall, and place a hand on her scroll again, Yua was completely on alert at this point she really wanted to avoid fights but if she had to she would fight at her full power. She knew that Senkai was deadly especially to younger Genin like Erkamina, then a new thought hit her what if she had to fight Erkamina or Katsuko, that would not be good Yua would want to fight to her fullest capability. But against her friends and team mates she wasn’t sure she could force herself to do it. Yua sighed and then swallowed hard and kept moving carefully though the maze.Yua stopped for a moment and looked at the space between the walls, and the roof, and decided to examine it.

The path was more turn offs clumped together again, it wasn’t like she should have suspected anything different. It’s not like there would be a buffet or a sign or anything of that sort. The point of a maze was to make one feel they were going in circles, though Hatsuma was intentionally going in loops to map the place out she had a feeling she was currently facing parallel to the center of the maze. After all the walls didn’t change in texture yet which means she was neither going out nor going inwards at this point in time. It was both a good and a bad thing but it meant she wasn’t where she started which was a good thing. “it may have been better to try different tactics but if I change in the middle it’ll only make things more complicated. I need to see this method through if I desire results.” Hatsuma commented to herself once more before she continued onwards on the predetermined direction that her hand on the wall dictated to her. Hatsuma continued her thoughts of her past which lead to this point in time, they were just routines to her but being alone gave her mind time to wander.
‘Young Hatsuma approached Ijin who would be her teacher today. “Ah Hatsuma you’ve finally shown up… I shouldn’t say it like that, after all I was here early and it wasn’t like you are late, you are right on time as usual… just remember being early can be more beneficial to you, of course the same can be said about being late… ah anyways you are going to be our envoy in the ninja village of this country.” Ijin explained while the young Hatsuma sat upon a stump for a seat giving her utmost attention to Hatsuma. “good you are attentive, I’ll get started then, as you’ve learned our laws prohibit contact with the hidden village here, they’ve accepted we exist and left us be, however… something has occurred recently a change for the future. We need someone in the village so we can observe the change first hand.” He paused to make sure she was following though he couldn’t tell either way with that face of hers and continued on. “Something will be arriving in that village in time and we need to know if we should deal with it, after all you remember what we hunted that day in the trench, it’s not normal game that we go after… some call the things Earth bound gods. Or demons even, it’s why our tribe has been come to called the god-slayer clan, though we are of different blood we train in a harsh environment to combat the harshest of foes. It’s even been told our clan was responsible for helping to capture the mighty tailed beasts long ago, but these are merely tales.” Ijin paused a moment and lit a thin pipe he had always carried on him before continuing through a puff of smoke. “The reason we outcast ourselves is to protect the innocent from these ‘gods and demons’ that seek us out as a result of our record with them. Your mission will be to watch out for a ‘god being’ who will enter the village. If you find it your duty is to watch it. If you deem it safe return to us and report about it, if it’s unsafe… well this is what today’s training will be fore…” Ijin chortled a bit and stood up motioning young Hatsuma to do the same. “I’ll be teaching you maneuvers to use against the god being… let’s get started shall we?” Ijin stated getting into a stance.’ Hatsuma began focusing on that memory a bit, she’d nearly forgotten why she had become a shinobi for the sand village in the first place. Why would she forget such an important thing… Was there anything that seemed like a god being to her? There was that strange blood girl that showed up before, perhaps she was a spawn of the god being? Maybe it was going to prepare to attack the village shortly… if so this exam was going to be in the way.

’I shall fight to honor the name of Kaiten, the name of my father…

Erkamina continued down the path, doing much the same thing she'd done before, turning as necessary and making her mark as she did so. It felt like she'd been going in circles for awhile, not really making much progress in this maze at all but she still had faith in her determination and strength. Without those two things she wasn't a shinobi, she wasn't of the Mist, and she would never see her 'justice' served by the tip of her own blade. She envisioned the satisfying appearance of the crimson blood of those that had wronged her and her father running down that knife, the same knife they tossed at the gate, and their shocked faces as their last moment slipped away. How she'd relish that simple joy of ending their putrid existence. She smirked and imagined that this maze was the path just outside the village and the goal, the center, was those men. She increased her walking speed at this, taking each corner with new vigor- as if life itself hang in the balance. She felt like she was racing against time, trying to reach the 'goal' before it was too late, before they escaped that is. She was nearly running through the maze, marking each path and moving on through the walled conglomerate that was this test. She had to keep going, for her name's sake, for her father's sake, for her justice's sake. She smiled wildly as she continued forward, the lust of power hitting her as she reached her maximum 'jogging' speed. She didn't care at the moment if she hit a trap or not, she just wanted to prove herself to the world. She desired nothing less than to be at the top of her age-class, perhaps even the entire village. If she were in charge she would work hard to make sure no one else went through what she has. She would do everything differently than this Mizukage was and she would certainly at the very least know of the fate of all the shinobi in Mist. She laughed heartily as she weaved her way through the maze, thinking of such things as being the Mizukage- who would actually want such a thing. It was probably a bunch of boring paperwork and such, no real proving of one's strength once they were there. It was fairly undisputed that the most powerful shinobi would be the Kage but how many had tried to challenge that position to take the power as their own, she wondered as she went further into the maze, the center no longer being her prime focus. She just wanted to prove that she was strong, that she was greater than she had appeared, that her name was not just the name of disaster. She continued to run through the maze, blazing past a few of the paths she had already marked on her way. She knew a lot of these paths were circular but she was going to find her way one way or another, even if she had to die trying. She wanted to feel like she'd accomplished something so she wanted to know if she'd made any progress but the center was nowhere in sight. She didn't really want it to be though, it was deceptive and even distracting from the goal of getting there. After all, if you are so obsessed with the destination sometimes you don't see the true journey to get there. She just kept running, not really worrying so much about the 'center' of the maze as just finding the next path and taking it. She was going to master this task even if it took her all day to do it. She had no alternative but to try, she was already in too deep to give up- as if that was ever a real option for someone raised in the infamous Mist Village, yea right! "I will never fail in that manner..." She panted as she forced herself to slow down slightly as her lungs burnt from the run. She gasped and looked around her surroundings, trying to get her barrings again. After how far she'd probably ran she was more than likely near the edge again but she didn't mind- she had a point to prove after all. If she ran farther than most it meant she'd be stronger for it, right? So she forced herself to think that way as she geared herself for another mad-dash format of maze-running. She sighed somewhat as her breath returned to normal just in time for her to run again. She dashed forward, forcing herself to think about her goals as she did so, trying to get a grasp of her ultimate reason for taking on this test in the first place. It wasn't for the rank, which was nice, but it was for the respect and recognition that came with it. If she passed these tests she'd be known as strong and the name of Kaiten would be held with honor and her 'clan' would not be thought of as the weakest of all shinobis. She wouldn't allow it. Instead she forced herself to endure, to struggle, and to fight all her body's desires to rest and sleep and press on even if it was hard. She was tired but she had to finish this test, her goal depended on it. She allowed herself to slow down only enough to choose which path to take, she had to get to the center no matter how long it took. She wanted so much to succeed, to become greater than others saw her as. She would not allow any settling, she was too determined. She would only allow two options to enter her mind, success or death. She was set on the first being the only true option as death was not her desire at the moment. She wanted to keep going for her honor's sake, for everything she'd done that she had to atone for and all the things she would do in the future. She was certain of that future of blood on her knife from those fiends, she would not allow anything less than that. She had no mercy. She was capable of it but it was meaningless. Mercy was for the weak. If you allowed your enemies to live they may join together to kill you, was that not the ideal of the Mist itself? She figured the best way to ensure the future was to hold nothing back, to give everything her all. She would do nothing less. She fought with her all against the ticking time clock of others reaching the goal first and the time limit that was probably set by the proctors. She knew quite well that speed was just as important in this test as finding the right path was. So she continued to run as quickly as she could stand around each corner, through each path way, making her quick mark as she reached a cross-roads, each one marking where she had been and where she was planning on going. Once she found the definitive path out she would stop marking her way but she didn't like the idea of going in circles so she wanted to make sure she had everything marked. She had to plan her path based on what was not yet marked. She sighed as the path continued forward and seemed to wind on and on. She growled as she felt like she was going backwards.

… Soon I will show the world the worth of that name.’
