Why does the fact that we are on the internet mean that we should be held to lesser standards? Yes, it is easy enough to fake credentials, but it's also not that hard to verify legitimate ones. Even on topics where credentials aren't technically necessary, it is still easy enough to tell if someone knows their stuff or not. Also, if you ask someone for their basic qualifications, and they don't know how to answer the question - odds are they probably aren't qualified to be teaching.
