I go to the library and read books and then buy them if I like them. I've yet to buy a book from a store and not like it. That's probably because I read the first couple pages before I buy it.

I buy books, becuase I like to have reserve supply of them. I usually have 3-4 books back-up so I never run out of something to read. When I do that at the library I get late fees, becuase I usually don't get to a book in the first month or so.

When I was young we mostly got books from the library, but from about high school on I stopped making use of the resource and started being greedy. Still am, lol. Well, the library of my home town was really good, the books were always in pretty good condition, and I would still probably borrow alot of them if it were convenient. I miss book buses gonk
These days, I usually buy books used. We have an awesome used bookstore in my city, and it's relatively close to campus, so I usually go there about once a week and come back 10 dollars lighter and 2-3 books heavier. They also have new books there, and lots of sale books, so I can generally find whatever I want. I like that "new book smell," but as long as I can find one in relatively good condition I don't care if it's had a previous owner. Without used bookstores, I think I'd die xd

I go borrow from the library more often than buying my own books. Cause I love the library in my state because it's so huge and just looking at five levels worth of books... And considering how much I read, I don't have the money to buy my own books usually. I'll make exceptions to some things I really like, though.

I mostly buy my books. The library sometimes just don't have the books I'm into so it's easier for me to just buy instead of hunting down for it.

I generally buy books, going to the library just isn't very conveniant most of the time. That and you can find some books in great condition at second hand places, you just have to be a bit more carful with what you look for.

Well, I would get books from the library if the fines around here weren't so damn draconian. Just buying the book, used, from Amazon will ultimately be cheaper for me, personally, as I'm always late returning them.

I buy my books, because then I'm able to read them again. You wouldn't want to have to keep on going to the library for a certain book all of the time. Or if you borrow the books from a friend and you want to read it again later, you don't want to keep on asking them for it.

The "used-books shop" movement is dying down here. It really sucks. When you do find a shop they've loadsa really bad, "chick" novels. You know the sort. mad

There is one problem with your lets buy all the books we read. You have to have money. I mean I read about two books a week sometimes more it is hard to tell as I read more then one book at a time. Now my allowance isn't enough to buy one book a week nothertheless keep up with my appetite. Therefore the books I own come into four categorys a) hand me downs these books belonged to my mother or my aunts. b) presents c) prizes (i have quite a few books from that) d) 2nd hand- I always make sure they are in good condition though
Also I am a librarian at my school so that means I can be the first to read a book when they get new books.
Maybe one day I'll buy my own books, one day once I've finished uni and paid off my student loan. Until then the library is my best friend

I don't mind borrowing books from the library, but if I think the book is going to take me a while to read (like when I am taking college classes, I barely have any time to read) ~ I will buy them.
My library has a book store in it where they sell used books for 25 cents to a dollar so I tend to leave with books whenever I go in there. heart

I love the old book smell. There's mystery in opening something that's old and bringing it back to life by reading it. I usually randomly pick books out of adult fiction. If I find books I really like I'll put them on my to-buy-someday list. So far I have the Chronicles of Narnia, The Lord of the Rings, and the Harperhall series. There are a few more I can't remember. I want the old Chronicles of Narnia, not the new sets that put them all out of the order they were written in.
My husband buys all kinds of books and the portions of our apartment not taken up by pets are covered with bookshelves. He's always bought books because there wasn't a library in his area when he grew up. Going to Barnes and Noble almost always results in trouble making rent. I recently got him addicted to Terry Pratchet.
